Try settings-list-folders and add the microsd card path.

TCPMP has a benchmark function (click file-benchmark) so you can see for yourself by trying it all 4 ways:
Player and video in memory.
Player and video on storage card.
Player on storage card video in memory
player in memory video on storage card....
Let us know!

Hey guy I got it. I had to change the root to sdcard2 to find the files.
What is the best player Rockplayer? Mine only works in Hardware mode.
thanks again
Try arcmedia. It's fairly highly regarded.
Vitalplayer is my new default video player. Plays more formats that rockplayer for me and has brightness controls built in. Arcmedia for some reason will stretch your video full screen and will only zoom out to native size or stretched to fullscreen.
I have an 8gb samsung class 6 microsd card in my slot, while i wait for my 32gb to be delivered.
The thing is dice player does not search it for video`s so they dont show up in the gallery, I have even tried manually selection the folder, but the external microsd does not show up.
I know the video`s are there as mx player sees and players them fine.
Thanks for any help
EDIT : I have an galaxy note and i have had a few tablets asus tran prime and had no problems.
John.
Press home icon(upper right)
Plus icon
Add local folder
And select ext sdcard path
Already tried that, it only shows the internal sdcard, I need to find extsdcard according to the stock "my files" app.
I can use the gallery to play the video`s on the external microsd, and mx player pro.
I am not rooted, but i have root explorer and i cannot find extsdcard even with that.
Have you tried downloading the free dice player and see if you can view video`s on an microsd?
Thanks for any help.
John.

If you have no problem with dice player finding video`s on an extrnal microsd let me know, so i dont think it`s just my tab 2.
I have sent an email to the creators of dice player, to see if they can help.
John.
Did you add /mnt/extsdcard folder to diceplayer?
I have tried it, it does not work i just get an error.
Do you have any other ideas?
John.

Hello,
I want to view mkv files +4gb on my device, but in internal memory i have only space left to store one movie at one time. I have microsd 64gb installed but device only recognizes fat32 (with 4gb size limit this file format has). I tried format sdcard in exFat, ntfs, ext2,3,4. The phone doesn't recognize the card and let me only format sdcard, leaving it on fat32.
So I'm wondering if MX player can open multivolume rar/zips containing a mkv, but even one single volume zip/rar files are not supported.
It would be an easy feature to implement on player? I tried to open it on BS Player buy only opens the audio. Or maybe there is other player supporting this feature. I have in mind to split mkv with tools, but I must lead with subtitle timing.
Thank you for reading.

I am not sure that whether it's possible or not.
But, alternatively you can easily split mkv files without re-encoding.

Yes, it seems split video into <4gb parts is the only way at this moment. I will try with mkvtoolnix.
However I think split has some inconveniences like problems with timing subtitles, discontinue play and jumps on changing parts. Also, split mkv has slightly more steps than create multivolume uncompressed file.
I see that using 'Link files' option on mkvmerge options preserve timecode on probably no problem with subtitle timing. We'll see.
Mx player doesn't scan folders on SD card.If a copy a folder with video files it does not show till i manually refresh it.I am using mx player 1.30.1 Samsung a50s
