I have an 8gb samsung class 6 microsd card in my slot, while i wait for my 32gb to be delivered.
The thing is dice player does not search it for video`s so they dont show up in the gallery, I have even tried manually selection the folder, but the external microsd does not show up.
I know the video`s are there as mx player sees and players them fine.
Thanks for any help
EDIT : I have an galaxy note and i have had a few tablets asus tran prime and had no problems.
John.
Press home icon(upper right)
Plus icon
Add local folder
And select ext sdcard path
Already tried that, it only shows the internal sdcard, I need to find extsdcard according to the stock "my files" app.
I can use the gallery to play the video`s on the external microsd, and mx player pro.
I am not rooted, but i have root explorer and i cannot find extsdcard even with that.
Have you tried downloading the free dice player and see if you can view video`s on an microsd?
Thanks for any help.
John.

If you have no problem with dice player finding video`s on an extrnal microsd let me know, so i dont think it`s just my tab 2.
I have sent an email to the creators of dice player, to see if they can help.
John.
Did you add /mnt/extsdcard folder to diceplayer?
I have tried it, it does not work i just get an error.
Do you have any other ideas?
John.

I have several videos on my external SD card and can open and see them with Gallery>Stock Player, but not anything else. The stock player plays the vids, but because of the format they play choppy. I tried using Rockplayer free to play them but each time I tried it said it could not open the file. This was done using Gallery and selecting default app to play vids. On Rockplayer itself, it does not detect the external SD card or the external media.
Anyone figure a way around this? Or is this still a work in progress?
Go into options on Rockplayer and change the root directory to "/" or "/mnt". Then you will find "..", select it and work you way over to sdcard2. Also set the option to show all files, not just media. Rockplayer will play more than it would suggest by what it shows.

So i have a droid 2 global and everytime i try to save music on the sd card it disappears. I tried copy and pasting, doubletwist app, and now easy phone tunes. and it still does not show anything on the sd card. whats wrong?
Make sure there is no .nomedia flags in the folder you are saving your music.
Clarification: .nomedia is an empty file you put in a folder that you want to be ignored for scanning for media content. If such file is present, player will skip this location

the filetype might not be able to play in the media player (depending on media player) have you considered this? I know I use mostly mp3 but if you have AAC(apple conversion) or another it might not play.
fake sd cards
Are you using the original sd card?
hi guys! i have a few issues regarding my GTab 7.0 plus P6200 ver.
i just bought it yesterday + a 32gb class 4 sd card. i installed Samsung Kies and then my pc detected my GTab. I opened the sd card folder and started copying movies and music and the copying is succesfull to the SD CARD. I also copied photos to the GTab's internal memory and it went well..
heres the problem, when i open my GTab default GALLERY application i cant see the pictures i put to the internal memory. also i opened the default video and music player and i cant see also the video and music's i put on the SD card. BUT, i can see the pictures, videos and listen to the musics using the MY FILES application.
Take note that this is out-of-the-box unit, never been rooted.
What maybe the problem is?
i just use the traditional copy-paste method in transferring the files BUT with the SAMSUNG SKIES installed.
Wondering if there is a way to watch avi movie files on the xoom without converting the files

What a useless response
OP: I use rockplayer lite. It plays every .avi file I throw at it.
MX Video player is pretty sweet and free.
I like that you can pinch zoom vids while playing
This was one of the posts that came up under search. I transferred several movies to the sd card from my computer. I was able to watch them at one point with a movie player and now can not access or see any movies on the sd card. I put the sd card back in my computer and see the movies in the folder.

1.When you put your SDcard back in your device, make sure you click mount SDcard in your settings menu.
2. Along with the above suggestion, before you drop your card in the Xoomy, (find a converter, I lke "audials tunebite"it's pretty fast) Just convert them to mp4 and you can view them in the default player, and any other player for that matter- and it is all good!
As always, if this was helpful - Give Thanks!
I use mobo player free in the market. Best there is imho.

I had the same thing happen to me. I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out what happened to my files. I also removed the sd card from the Xoom but that didn't bring them back. I had to unmount/mount the sd card in settings before it would work.
Also, DVD Catalyst 4 is an awesome program that will convert your movies into a Xoom high quality format. I ripped several movies yesterday and it was easy and works great AND the movies look awesome on the Xoom.
Another vote for MX player. Plays .avi, .mkv, .mp4 supports hardwre and software encoding. Touch (swipe) controls for volume, brightness, scroll back and forward. all-around great player. and FREE
Hello,
I want to view mkv files +4gb on my device, but in internal memory i have only space left to store one movie at one time. I have microsd 64gb installed but device only recognizes fat32 (with 4gb size limit this file format has). I tried format sdcard in exFat, ntfs, ext2,3,4. The phone doesn't recognize the card and let me only format sdcard, leaving it on fat32.
So I'm wondering if MX player can open multivolume rar/zips containing a mkv, but even one single volume zip/rar files are not supported.
It would be an easy feature to implement on player? I tried to open it on BS Player buy only opens the audio. Or maybe there is other player supporting this feature. I have in mind to split mkv with tools, but I must lead with subtitle timing.
Thank you for reading.

I am not sure that whether it's possible or not.
But, alternatively you can easily split mkv files without re-encoding.

Yes, it seems split video into <4gb parts is the only way at this moment. I will try with mkvtoolnix.
However I think split has some inconveniences like problems with timing subtitles, discontinue play and jumps on changing parts. Also, split mkv has slightly more steps than create multivolume uncompressed file.
I see that using 'Link files' option on mkvmerge options preserve timecode on probably no problem with subtitle timing. We'll see.
