[Q] *not sure* Have a couple of questions about a samsung galaxy subversion. - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

You guys (admins) have made this site so difficult to navigate, so please move this thread to the appropriate subforum.
Anyway, I currently own a Samsung Galaxy Neo Plus (i9060M) and would like to make a backup of the stock rom as it is not available for downloading ANYWHERE! Yes, this must be a very rare low-end device that nobody uses.
How can I accomplish the above-mentioned task without rooting, if that's even possible.
Also, do any of you know of any methods I could try to root my device? *this is not as important, as I will probably try all possible steps JUST AFTER BACKING UP the stock rom., but if you have some idea, I'd appreaciate it*
Thanks

If I couldn't find and install the stock ROM, I wouldn't mess it up unless throwing the device in the trash bin was no loss. What about these?

About root, Google has the answer, and it's here on xda.

none of those work for me.
I actually found the stock rom for my device, but its hosted on some slow/restricted site and I cannot download it LOL.
If any of you can do me a favor and download it, then reupload it elsewhere, I would appreciate it

[Q] Samdung Galaxy S (and my options)

Hello, I am in need of a little help. I am a complete noob to android and have no idea really how the system works. I have a Samsung Galaxy S and have decided to root my phone for 2 reasons.. ap2sd and so I can install the lag fix. I have done a bit of reading and chosen the path I wish to take but would like some assurance and pointers. I am also unsure of: If I root my phone does this automatically mean that with a properly partitioned sd card that I can store apps 2 sd or do I still need to flash the handset with a new ROM and if so there I am stuck... I do not know where to begin with searching for the best ROM for me. Also I would like to know if after i've done this will the handset still be able to receive the official updates or will I just need to keep updating it myself!
Here is the rundown as far as i have got so far...
Samsung Galaxy S I9000/XXJF3 Updated!
All the programs for XP i need are downloaded (eg.net3.5/4, samsung drivers)
The root method I thought was best for me was that of TGA_Gunman
The lag fix I had chosen is by Chainfire
I have still to back up the original ROM with ClockWorkMod (Is this easy to do and if I need to use it will it bring me completely back to my original settings for warranty purposes, or is there other things I would need to do?)
Also could someone provide me with a link to the best noob proof SD partitioning method!!
Is there anything I'm missing here, or anything that could be done a better way!! Any and all pointers will be much appreciated....
P.s. I would be wanting to update to the official froyo update when it's available will this cause me problems and if so what must I do!
Thanks in advance
ANDROID NOOB
I don't know much about the galaxy s, but you might be better off asking this in the Galaxy S forum.

Hi, sorry to say but it appears to be a bit of a white box brand so it's unlikely to gain support due to it being unknown and present in many variants of the device.
You would be better to look around for ROMs that support specific components in the device in order to have better luck as their will be similar devices using the same components with one of them probably having a ported ROM such as CM
Hope I could help and good luck

root genius worked for me literally just rooted a few minutes ago took me forever to find one that worked
http://www.shuame.com/en/root/
Root Genius worked for me also
Lot of applications that require root access work fine. Now, how do I do a Nandroid backup? Also, anybody know tried a custom ROM on this device? Hesitant to "just try it" until I have a full Nandroid backup.
I have one of these. Got it for $59.95 on sale via Staples website. A curious thing is that none of the preloaded apps show under My apps and the Store won't automatically update any of them. I had to look them up on the Store and install the latest versions.

[Completed][Q] Versions? (CWM and ODIN)

Hi,
Today I rooted my phone. First with the automatic CF-Root thingy and Odin3-v3.07 but then later on I decided to go with CWM instead.
Now I'm realising that CWM isn't updated for my Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F), and I wish to re-root it, with the freshest versions available.
I've searched for the latest versions, but found nothing but malware and spam.
Questions: What ODIN version should I use? Link to it?
Is there a CWM version for my phone? Link to it?
Also, latest CF-Root link would be awesome!
Thanks guys.

In case of further questions, please feel free to post on that thread.
Okay, now I'm using the AllianceRom, and not being able to wake the phone up by pressing the home button is driving me insane, can't find it anywhere in options. Help please?!
Which ROM do you recommend?
After spending what feels like an eternity (like 8 hours straight) with flashing, recovering, backing up, wiping, restoring etc. I'm just sick. So I installed the original image.
But that made me feel nauseous.
ALL I'm looking for is a light weight app, that allows me to disable all of the **** that clogs my phone and interface (Samsung Printer and pretty much every other Samsung app)
I don't want to be able to customize kernel values, I just want it to be lightweight, preferably power saving, and not much other than that.
I'm almost always using TWRP because I've never had a problem with it and the menus make sense.
Please, help me, what ROM fits me?
Okay, I found XtreStoLite and I'm in love.
Having a problem with Play Store though, it's not loading, as mentioned HERE. But since I have less than 10 posts I can not ask him or the developer how to fix it.
Thanks in advance!

[Completed] [Q] Trusting custom ROMS

Hi,
with due regards to all the hard work this forum members have put in creating and maintaining ROMs, one question popped up :
can we trust them?
would it be possible for someone building a custom ROM to place a script on the installation zip that transmits user data or credentials to the ROM maker? Who checks the authenticity of the ROM? Is there a check done before someone is allowed to release their ROM?
asking these, coz most of my banking and financial apps would be installed on android phone flashed with a custom rom.
please guide.
That's a good question. And the simple answer is that if you want to use the rom you'll have to trust them. There is no formal review process. This forum is self policed. However, there are a lot of smart and honest people here and if someone finds something funny going on in the rom it will be reported in the rom thread. That's not good advertising for the rom developer(s). In my years on XDA I've only seen that once, maybe twice.

Samsung Note 2, I want it secured, lightweight, and fast.

Hey Ya'll
Happy New Year.
I have new old phone Samsung Note 2.
I'm going to be using this phone but have concerns about security and speed .
I also want to root my phone so I can remove the bloatware and, possibly, get my processor clocked a bit faster (activating the reduntant cores to would be great).
This is what I've learned from searching here:
1) KIngRoot || Root King - oneclick apps from the play store
2) custom rom - like cynagenmod.
- i'll be able to use FireFox the way I do on my Linux machine, but other than that I'm just a run of the mill iPhone user.
What kind of advice do you guys have for me? I look forward to learning tx:fingers-crossed:
For the people viewing but not posting.
Here's something I found using a DuckDuckGo (XDA search just came up with ads) from the XDA forums.
Galaxy Note 2 Rooting.
Flashing Custom Roms.
After days of trying to figure this out I'm just more confused.
Everytime I use the XDA search bar I get ADS. Thanks XDA.
The two links I posted to help here have good descriptions but the links end up going nowhere eventually.
From what I've gathered (on my own) I need to:
1) Root using Odin (found it somewhere else)
2 ) Download a "Custom Recovery" CWM/TWRP (can't find a good download for the dam thing)
3) Download Gapps (again, can't find a good Download for the dam thing)
4) Download a Custom ROM for my phone (and again, can't find a download)
I don't understand. Everyone Raves about XDA but theres only text instructions. Everyone says how there are great developers here and how this is a gret forum but I've yet to find anything here and none of the people who viewed this post even replied....
If your reading this and are trying to Root your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 I suggest you look somewhere else.
I don't think XDA is worth any of the hype people give it and we're just wasting our time here.
Hey, there.
First of all, you are new here and don't know how the XDA forums work, so be patient and don't jump to conclusions. Once you understand the forum's layout, you will see why everyone raves about XDA.
You first need to find your phone's subforum using search, and look there. It will have everything from general questions, rooting guides, to custom kernels, custom Roms, etc.
For your case, it's here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2
Easiest way to root your phone is using Kingroot.
Download apk here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=22115
The custom ROM flashing guide you linked is general guide to flash any ROM and hence doesn't provide links. You need to find Rom you would like to flash(install) in the sub-forum and flash using that method.
Hit thanks if it helped. PM (private message) me if you need help.
