I accidentally dropped my OnePlus One and it resulted in a crack that goes from the bottom of the left edge of screen to the right edge of the screen about 3/4 inches from the bottom. Luckily the LCD display still works, but the digitizer (touch) has stopped working in a rectangular area at the bottom of the screen. I now have to use a screen rotation app, combined with on-screen navigation bar (the hardware buttons also are IN that rectangular area) to work with my OPO along with a lot of turning the phone upside down to access all the screen functions.
Today I got to know of the wm size and wm density commands using which I was able to play with the phone's resolution, but whatever I do with these commands, the whole screen area is being used. Would anyone here know of some way to change the usable screen area so the rectangular area at the bottom is ignored for all purposes - i.e. it remains black all the time and everything begins from above this area?
I do have a replacement screen but I don't suppose it is original plus I don't want to risk opening up my phone and putting the replacement.
I'm using CM12 and I've rooted my phone.

Quick question, I have two spots on the screen that when press along the edges of left or right of the scrren the middle of the screen and lower left of the screen (with more pressure than needed to operate the screen,) it will have ripple effect effect. I am wondering if this is isolated or widespread?

1. Dont do that
2. That happens with any lcd screen when you "press harder than needed"
Hey guys
I recently dropped my phone and cracked the top right corner of the screen and as a result, a triangle shaped corner of the touchscreen doesn't work anymore. This isn't really a problem in itself, but the phone randomly presses that area of the phone without me touching it, which makes it hard to do things like text (as it's constantly tapping that dead corner of the screen and exiting apps etc).
I did a bit of research and I know Iphones have a feature called guided access that disables areas of the screen (like the notification area etc. to stop children from messing around with phones when playing games) and I was hoping to find a similar app to do the same to disable this corner, but I haven't been able to find any. There's only apps like surelock that can disable the whole screen, but not specific areas of it.
Does anyone know of an app I can use to do this, or perhaps another way to just disable this section of my screen? I was also looking into changing the resolution to use a smaller area of the physical screen but am not sure that's possible.
Thanks!
Edit: Turned out it was a ROM and bootloader issue . Reflashing fixed it.
When I was trying to enable android pay, I need to enable pattern for screen lock. And I feel that I cannot really touch the lowest part of the screen,.
So I enable the developer mode and show touch point. And I found that the lowest 5mm of the screen were not response to the touch. there are also 3mm to 5mm dead zone around the edge for other direction. Hows yours?
Edited
I re-tested with a touch pen. And found that only the right screen and the bottom screen has the dead zone.
Hi, I've recently got this phone. I noticed that direct taps on the curved area are not working (e.g. tapping the backspace button on keyboard). However when I swipe through the curved area, it seems to work.
Is this normal with this device or just an issue with my unit? This is my first curved screen phone.
Thanks.
(Not using tempered glass protector)
Seems to be intended behaviour as a way of stopping accidental touches, swiping is different as it's mostly for gestures, swiping from the right to open drawers etc.
Split screen from full screen issue
Hi, if anyone's using split screen 2 finger gesture or One Hand Operation + gestures for split screen, did you notice that since OneUi 5.0 it mostly opens split screen apps in the top screen when going from a full screen. For example when I'm watching YouTube in full screen with a gesture it opens it on the bottom side mostly even tho it's inconvenient and not handy, it sometimes opens it in the top part of the screen if I rotate phone in another side. For example it opens it in the top side of the screen if the phone is in full screen - front camera is on the left side, but it opens it on the bottom if the front camera is on the right side. I don't see the logic.
