[Q] - Galaxy S 4 Themes and Apps

Hi all
I own a Samsung Galaxy S4 Black Edition I9505. I've couldn't resist temptation and I've deleted my system partition using twrp recovery (stupid me). After flashing the last stock Lollipop 5.0.1 firmware available for this phone (I9505XXUHOD7_I9505OXAHOD7_DBT), the stock "Deep Black" wallpapers for home screen and lock screen are nowhere to be seen. I guess they weren't installed by default.
I've searched for the respective files with Root Explorer (the best €3.79 ever invested) - (fhd_01.jpg, fhd_02.jpg, fhd_03.jpg, fhd_04.jpg, fhd_06.jpg, fhd_07.jpg, fhd_08.jpg, fhd_09.jpg) - are all included in this firmware (under /system/csc/DBT/system/wallpaper/drawable/, but for some reason they are not available under "Wallpapers-Home&Lock Screen" and I must browse to the gallery and select them manually.
Does anyone know how to make them available? I've really like to have my stock "Deep Black" I9505 back.
And where are the stock ordinary Lollipop home screen and lock screen contained. I've also tried to decompile framework-res.apk, but unsuccessfully. They're not there.
EDIT: After flashing the first Deep Back fw build I9505XXUHOB7/I9505YBTHOB7/I9505XXUHOB7, my home& locked screen returned to normal. Lesson learnt. The other questions remain opened.
Thank you

[Q] supersu and simcardchanger.apk survived after lolipop flash?

Hello, someting really weird (for me) happened on my nexus 5. I was running stock 4.4.4 rooted with elementalx kernel, and i decided to return to stock and flash android lolipop. (I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701)
I firstly flashed 4.4.4 stock just to be sure there wont be any complication with the kernel change.
after that, i flashed lollipop according to the guide above.
after i locked the bootloader and opened the phone i saw something strange, an icon in the app drawer named ''SuperSU installer'' . it was a system app and i couldnt even uninstall it, but i could only disable it.
Also, in the past, i had used the ''simcardchanger.apk'' (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/themes-apps/app-sim-changer-change-registered-sim-t2106490), to put my phone number in the ''about'' section of my phone because it was marked as ''unknown''. my phone number was still there after the flash of the new ROM (!)
How could these 2 survive the flash of 2 ROMS?
Is there anything i can do to return my phone to complete stock without even ''simcardchanger'' marking my phone number in the about section of the settings??
[PS: i am now running lollipop stock, unrooted and locked bootloader.]
i would appreciate if any of you is bored enough to solve this question. Thank you.

[Q] Issues after restoring 05Q Backup (calls.. dirty system?)

Well, Hello.
Yesterday, I decided to re-get myself into rom flashing, as I was sick about oneplus usual delays about lollipop.
After I flashed cleanly first blisspop, and then switched to paranoid, I was not surprised about battery drain so I decided to comet-back stock by flashing the backup I've already made before all of this.
Now I have really enough about custom roms and bad battery-life, on this part imho stock has been better for me than whatever.
Globally no problems, but one annoying : call/dialer on the cm stock app.
The app/contacts works great, it is just that when I have finished to type the number and press the call icon, then black screen, the hardware buttons are active but when pressing back or whatever it doesn't respond..
Calls are working because I hear the voice but so can't stop it.
I was blocked on this screen, so recovery and reboot each time, pretty annoying.
Here would you think that a flashable zip file of the stock app would end the problem ?
Does I have to wait for the next ota to resolve this, or do I have to re-flash the 05Q ?
I tried first some alternative call app, like exdialer etc but it does nothing..
Ideas ?
I think this is solvable..
+ When editing the local user profile (top-left corner status bar) it is not working properly, the picture doesn't want to change as editing accounts etc..
→
To sum up,
I think that I will have to do again a clean stock-rom flash process,
Can I refer myself to these threads ?

I don't know what's broken in my system, so don't really know what to do for now,
to my mind it would be logic to re-install the stock system properly, so..
Thank you by advance, and waiting for your answers.

[THEME - *.zip] Google 2015 Splash Screen

Thanks to @touch of jobo for the tool (http://jobiwan.net:81/bootsplash-m8) used to create a new updated splash screen, expecially for the Google Edition M8.
Having a full converted M8 to Google Play Edition using @graffixnyc's RUU means you have 100% a GPE phone with all the partition in the device flashed as the original phone in your Internationl variant.. one of those partition is the bootsplash screen, that one that comes before the bootanimation.
The official GPE device has the black screen with the old white Google logo and it's never updated during OTA's or RUU flashes so we are stuck with the old one.. for a fancy update i just made a new bootsplash zip that has the new Google Logo (2015 with the new font and color) inside so you can flash it from a custom recovery
It will survive every OTA and will not affect any kind of stock flash, it's not a part of the android system but it's a bootloader part that will never be checked flashed or updated, is safe and personally tested on my m8 GPE.
I also made a stock bootsplash zip to revert back to the original Google logo in case you want to go back to that.
Feel free to share! Credits goes to the devs
I have already made the new splash screens last month and posted them Here (Updated Link).

Any updates? Would be really interested in this as well
That was all the places I could find it but when I restored camera phone wouldn't boot... I think it might be cause I didn't set the right permissions.
I did successfully retrograde down to kitkat with a kernel and cok2 5.1.1 odin firmware.

Wait I don't understand. Are you saying you were able to get the old camera app? But it wouldn't open?
And you said you were able to retrograde? So you are back on KK? can you link me to the kernel and firmware and or the directions to do this. I am not the only one that might wanna go back to good Old KK

No when I tried to port them over to LP then phone would just freeze up on the first splash boot screen, however I accidentally didn't have the permissions set correctly also.
I'm going to post a tutorial thread in a second... But
You can't Odin to NK3 from MM PE3, you've gotta Odin downgrade to LP COK2 and THEN flash recovery flash the selected KK rom of choice and then whatever KK kernel ya can find that ya like, I've found that LLFK is still active and alive. You might also wanna Odin flash the KK modem too for better GPS location.
Samsung made it or tried to make it irreversible ever since COK2, it's impossible to Odin back down to NK3 KK, so you have to flash a rom, kernel and modem for matching baseband.

Odin COK2 Firmware LP 5.1.1: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24545065934258546
Trust me I played around for a day and a half until I discovered it was possible to boot a KK rom off of COK2 and messing with Odin too, just a warning if ya don't flash a kernel you won't have working WiFi at all. Can't even Odin to LP 5.0.1.

Thanks again for the time you put into this. Btw, to answer the camera question it's just not possible?
If that's the case, is there something else you can look into for me?
I am not sure if you use Briefing. Its flipboard but then version that actually uses the edge screen. Anyways, I hate briefing being part of the home screen. It makes easily navigating between windows tough. The way I went around doing this was the Edge panel that was available, until Samsung took it out with MM. Do you know how I could install the 5.1.1 briefing version. I think it would be a similar thing as removing the native camera app.
Directions being I would remove the briefing app, and install the 5.1.1 version. Prblm is I don't know how to do that (removing stock programs and manually installing old one) Whats worse, It seems I'm the only person that cares about this app and how functional it used to be on Edge. It was my quickest way to accessing the news
I think and believe that the only way to get that camera again is if some cloned the app and redeveloped it for higher versions of android... I've got a full video suite of Infinite Skills How to Develop App's for Android, me and my ADHD have just never gotten around to watching it yet. LoL
removing stock app's is easy if ya have root there's a few simple ways of doing it such as ES File Explorer with Root permissions navigating to the root of the rom then going into system, then either apps or priv-apps and just deleting FlipboardBriefing.apk, it's in apps actually... Then you could install a non-edge google play store version, or get tx toolbox and uninstall it or all-in-one toolbox and go to toolbox then uninstall system apps.

Ok the first thing I want to make clear is YOU WILL NOT HAVE ROOT! You will still have the use of Safestrap Recovery even though phone will not be rooted. What this will allow you to do is boot the non rooted rom back into safestrap. While in Safestrap you can do what you have always done, Flash Zips, Make Backups,Etc. This will put you on pure stock rom MM QA1 rom but from here you can get to safestrap to flash other roms or mods
To return to Safestrap you will need to flash a kitkat kernel NI2_stock_kernel.tar.md5 using odin then when phone reboots click on enter safestrap recovery. When leaving safestrap you must flashMM_KERNEL_SS-FF_Flashable.zip. Which will be located on your internal storage In a folder called MM_KERNEL_SS-FF_Flashable
Post Install Instructions
You must decide if you want to use Google IncallUI or Samsung InCallUI. Samsung InCallUI will allow you too still receive and switch to video calls and the google IncallUI will only support HD calling and wifi calling not video. To switch to google IncallUI goto settings/applications click on default applications choose calling app and click on the blue phone app. To switch back to samsung IncallUI is a little more complicated. You will need to boot to safestrap mount data use file manager and goto data/system/users/0 and then find the setting_secure.xml and delete Flash MM kernel and then restart phone. This will restore samsung IncallUI as default
To add number row to google keyboard open settings/language and input click gboard then preferences
If you want to flash other custom roms a guide can be found HERE

Before anyone ask. Yes I will make this same rom for Dev Unlocked Bootloader. Once Again DO NOT FLASH THIS ROM ON DEV UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER. This rom is for locked bootloaders using safestrap only
Dude, just found that you posted this! Going to give it a shot right now. I've always trusted your work as I've never found anything else that has really worked for my phone. I unfortunately have a locked boot loader so my choices are very limited. Been running the Note 5 port that you put out a while ago and have absoutly loved that ROM. Always seem to go back to it. I'll let you know how this works out. Thanks in advance for your hard work.
Wi-Fi Network Issue
Ive followed your guides & there great, thank you.
The only issue Im having with the Playstore rom (which is is my fav) is its not saving Wireless Network keys. For example, I will add & connect to my Wi-Fi network at home, but the minute I re-start my phone or am out of its range I have to re-add the network all over again. This goes for all the Wi-Fi networks Ive connected to so far. This has been a bit of a hassle since most of us dont have have all wireless network keys memorized.
I was curious if there was something I was doing wrong, or has anyone else had this issue while using this rom. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really dont want to have to switch roms for something as simple as this.
Thanks in advance.
