[Q] Annoying klog folder after root and sound bug - Sony Xperia M2

First of all my device is Sony Xperia M2 D2302 4.4.4 stock Kitkat with stock kernel rooted and locked Bootloader.
Problem 1
I rooted my Phone using JellyBean Kernel and RootkitXperia. Everything went smooth but I realized this Folder named klog on both my Internal storage and SD Card flooding my storage causing slowdowns and draining my battery. It seems to update itself when I turn my WiFi on I don't know looks to me like it.
It looks like this

I tried deleting klogd from xbin and logcat from bin but nothing works. I thought klog makes logs in data/klog I don't know why is it on internal storage and SD card.
They keep coming back even if i delete the folder really want to disable this klog.
Update 1
After some hours of not deleting the folder the logcats went from 0-9 now it seems to have stopped making further logs but I think they still keep updating inside and if I delete them they regenerae again from 0-9 and stop again. Still annoying
Update 2
It even seems to log my games and apps the numbers get changed to game name now it continuely keeps logging everything in my phone whenever I am connected to wifi. Looks like there is no fix.
Problem 2
My next problem is that my volume on games and apps is very low tested on Asphalt 8 , Modern Combat 5 and Youtube. In 14 volume sound is very low I can barely hear and in 15 it is too loud although while listening to music volume seems to be fine.
This problem was there when i first got the phone I even reflashed stock rom but the problem is still there.
So I need help with these two problems
Also my first post on Xda if I did anything wrong do tell me.

Hi,
Same problem here. Also got a Sony M2, D2303. Just searching for a solution and found your remarks. Did you find a solution already?
Thnx!

I don't think so I had Xperia M before also I have xperia C3 none of them have this stupid folder. Is the klog folder both in your internal and Sd card? because I do.
As far as I can remember I also did not have this folder. It only came after I rooted my phone. I think it is affecting my performance and a battery drainer. Also this folder only comes when I am on wifi. I tested it turned off wifi after deleting this folder checked for half a day it did not came back then I turned on wifi after that and it came back you can test it yourself . So maybe it has something to do with wifi. I thought it was klog=keylogger but I don't know.

Ram Dump Files?

Whenever I connect my TF to my computer and browse the internal storage I see many many log files starting with ramdumpXXX.log. Any ideas as to what these are? Are they indicative of a problem?
Thanks!

Same issue here, except I noticed it with the built-in file browser.
Yes they appear when your transformer does a random reboot when idle, like all of them seem to do, you just may not have seen it happen

I have the same issue, but I only have 2 of the ram dump files
Got the same issue. TF just restarts at random. When I open these logs, there is some verbose output, then some numbers (memory data?) and an error, mine says "kernel panic". Did not have this issue in the very beginning, but recenly it became quite annoying.
19 of them here. At 128KB each, that's at least 2MB wasted... can they safely be deleted?
Interestingly, the number per day varies wildly. Quite a few days don't have any, but others have loads:
06-13: 2 logs
06-14: 5 logs
06-15: Nothing
06-17: 1 log
06-18: 2 logs
06-19 to 06-22: Nothing
06-23: 7 logs
06-24: 1 log
06-25: 1 log
06-26 to 06-29: Nothing
What firmware are you using ? I use 1.5 PRIME and don't have a single log file.

They are just logs. Open them with a text editor and see. Problem is not with logs, but in that they are caused by spontaneous reboots, at least in my case. Today the pad kept rebooting every 15 minutes, at which point I simply restored factory settings. So far so good, but the stability of this outcome remains to be seen.
You can safely delete the logs.
Any solution for spontaneous reboots

Mine would do it multiple times a day, then I found if I took out my SD card from the dock it would quit, so I sent that back for refund and got a microSD for the tab and it hasn't done it since.
The random reboots, for the most part, are caused by the SD card in the keyboard dock. Remove that and it'll go away.
I'm rooted and I've noticed them also. Log files are useful and take up little space, but I absolutely hate it when tons of them are created, why can't they just append the info to the same log file?

Haven't had a new ram dump since July 6th. I have a feeling they fixed it in the 84411 OTA update.
Also regularly leave an SD card in my dock, and have never seen a random reboot. Most I've been getting lately is occasional browser crashes with no error / FC dialog.
I'm getting one every night, usually when the TF has been sleeping for a few hours.
I've had varying degrees of success with different ROMs, and sometimes the problems go away for over a week+, and then come back for unknown reason, could be a new app install?
I'm currently on the latest prime rom.
Does anyone know why they do this (I never leave it docked but I do have a microsd card in the tablet), I've heard that it could be a faulty RAM issue, but it seems to be happening on a lot of tablets, including my partners b70 she just bought!
Seems that no one really knows why, and I'd hate to rma only to find that it still happens when I get it back.
Anyone?

What is 'Mediaserver' and why is draining my battery?

Hi, the other day i installed the JellyBean leak. And since that day, the battery had a GREAT life.
But, today, i don't know why (Well, yes, i do now why) my battery had a terrible life.
And, there's a curious process that is killing it.
It's name is: 'Mediaserver'.

Forget about my question. My english is bad, and i can't express myself right
I want to stop that process, because is killing my battery and i don't want to.
So, i freezed the process, and today i'll see if that process still bother me.
Edit:
Well @nikufellow, your answer didn't work. I freezed the DRM content. But, still drain the battery.
But, the good part, is that i desactivated the sync, and now, i think the battery is going great.
It was that all the time (i believe). The sync of the accounts.
Edit 2:
Mmm, nope. I was wrong. The 'mediaserver' process is in the top again, with 43% usage.
Are you using Google Play Music? Maybe experiment with that. Maybe disable sync for just that, or remove the app and see if anything changes.

If you have backups on the phone and they are in DUP change them to tar.

WOW.... does no one read or search on google anymore?
All you need to do to get the mediaserver app to stop "searching" your phone all the time and draining the battery, and using CPU, is to put a file in all your media folders on the phone that is empty and called .nomedia
Notice that there is a dot (period) before the filename, this is important.

I am not trying to be a jerk here, but with all the posts in here, and it appears that no-one even thought to google this, just irks me a little bit.
To the OP, create an empty file in all the directories on your SDcard named .nomedia, and see if that helps to stop the 'mediaserver' from eating CPU and battery. This has been an issue since the 1.8 days of android with certain file types and has only gotten worse over the years.

I already did all the pseudo-solutions that appears on google. And no one works. That's why i made this thread.
But, the solution that works for me, was, formatting the sdcard. That was the solution that i don't wanted to do.
You had the two solutions.
DRM freeze and tar instead of dup.

As a member stated it's the google play music (i believe). Cuz since I stopped using Google play music and switched to poweramp, i don't see it on ma battery consumption list!

[Q] 95% of my pictures file are empty (0 bytes) !?

Hello !
I hope I'll find a way to solve my issue because it is quite troublesome so thanks to anyone who can help.
Alright, so my story is simple. I own a Galaxy S3 (intl) running for quite some time with a CM.
Needless to say, I hade quite the "enjoyment" while playing with nightly builds... anyway, I tried a Nandroid backup for the first time
when I decided to try CM 10.2 based on the recent release of Android 4.3.
Before that, I always used TitBK each time I wasn't sure the ROM I was about to flash was stable when a new version of Android was involved.
Since I heard about Nandroid backup, I tried it the first time when moving to CM 10.2 on it's early stage.
Such a terrible mistake ... blincking-black-half-screen, phone app not installed (!!!!???) such as many other app, very UNSTABLE, and battery unfriendly as well.
So I tried my first restore through CMW.
It partly failed but only while restoring the data. Thanksfully, I managed to restore all the data from the Nandroid backup through TitKBK.
So where does my picture problem figured in all of this ?
It's simple.
Before understanding how to restore all the data, I tried restoration many times.
As you would know, all the current user android folder is moved to a 0 folder when a factory reset/wipe data is actioned.
So I have to move it back each time through a cut-paste process. I do that because there are my TitBK files inside so when I install TitBK, it will recognise the backup files and therefore can proceed to a restorarion. And this includes my pictures as well.
What is I do not understand is why my picture files suddenly became empty ? I did not notice it immediately until I tried to show a two-days-old picture to someone.
Well, truth be told, it's been since CM 10.2 first release on the SGS III that I noticed that, but I did not take time to ask for help until today.
It was not the first time I made a factory reset thus going through that cut-paste process.
I had to make factory reset a very long time ago and I had no problem at all when doing this cut-paste process..
Which is even weirder, is that even very recent pictures are corrupted (let's face it, they are corrupted, right ?) like almost a day old, but not all of them, hence the 95% in the title. Of course, all pictures I made since are not corrupted (thank god), But needless to say that any picture or movie I shot that are more than a day old are unreadable.
Facts :
Windows Explorer and ES Explorer show all the picture files, but say they are empty.
On my extSD Card I have a LOST.DIR folder that, I've been told, contains all files that were lost. There are almost 300 files in it, up to 1.5Gb.
Not sure if these are my pictures, but I hope so. However, 300 is at least the half of my corrupted pictures :/
As soon as I get a mSD adapter to SD, I'll do a Recuva deep scan on it.
Does anyone know anything that could help ?

yes you can use recuva or any other file recovery software to get back your pictures so long as you did not over write anything new on it it can be recovered by using this or this or this and many more recovery tools

Well, I finally tried Recuva, none were pictures, juste some musics files (I store all my music on my mSD).
What was weird, is that Recuva recovered over 5000 files with a deep scan, but the "All Files" filter did no return anything.
I tried other scans but nothing relevant was found. So I formated my mSD because I needed the storage space.
Anyway, I still have access to those pictures. All the files are here, but ... all are empty displaying 0 bytes.

It will be a poor media filer somewhere on your system. Go through all media and delete I necessary items. Then go to settings - apps - media storage - clear data - force stop - restart.
Any idea how to find the bad ones? I have thousands (mp3s, videos, pictures, etc).
I have the same problem. Anyway to tell which file(s) are bad?!
Not sure this is from poor media file, if you're still getting decent battery life. Mine is the top too and I get around 6-8 hours on WiFi.
It's just when "nothing" is draining your battery, something need to come out top. So if you listen to a lot of music, seeing videos, seeing pictures and such, it will be the highest drain, even tho it's still "low" on drainage (if getting high SoT)... As it is then the only thing that is draining the battery and something need to drain it, right?
Try going to Developer Settings and disable NuPlayer then reboot...

I've also been experiencing this mediaserver issue. Sometimes it's not bad, but other times, it drains my battery a lot. The other night, I had my phone on airplane mode and it still used 18% in about 8 hours. I've set this and will see if the mediaserver wakelocks continue.
This problem occurred to me when I did factory reset for flashing a new rom but did not format internal storage, or use OTG without installing Sandisk Memory Zone app.
This problem's solved now.

Format internal data in TWRP and install a new rom should fix the problem.
As well If you use OTG, install sandisk memory zone in google app.

Back when I had the problem. Going to the dev options, and using "old mediaplayer" solved the problem. (I don't remember the exact name of the option).
Now I switched phones 3 times in the meantime so won't be able to test if still works
I have had regular problems with my S7 heating up and battery draining rapidly.
Checking battery stats showed media server as being the main thing pulling on battery.
Did a search on google and found several posts indicating this as being a common issue.
Tried all of the solutions mentioned, removed my sd card, reformatted it in phone, scanned all of the music files on it using mp3val app on my pc, It found and fixed many errors but problem still happened,
I stopped media storage app and deleted all data, reboot and reset phone but still had the same problem.
Several posts indicated that google chrome could be the problem, now i happen to love chrome, use it across all of my devices and love how it syncs my bookmarks etc.
Anyway, being totally frustrated i decided to disable it and try another browser.
I happened to choose Opera mini, anyway now about 4 days later and i have not had one instance of media server even showing in my battery stats as using any battery.
Have used my phone as normal and whereas before i was lucky if i got 14 hours from it, i came to bed last night with my battery still showing 82% after a normal days use.
I cannot believe or understand how chrome can be the cause of this but without a doubt it definitely is, so if you are having media server show as cause of most battery use, try disabling chrome and use another browser.
Good luck.

Question Random restarts. Sometimes repeatedly.

I have random restarts on my Galaxy A32 5G (T Mobile). Running it stock. No mods at all.
Sometimes they get bad and basically boot loop the phone for a while before it stabilizes.
I am sure it's software because a factory reset fixed it for 8 days. Ran flawlessly. Then the problem came back. I have to think if it was hardware that this wouldn't have helped.
I think it's something corrupted in the stock ROM because the problem occurred when I booted to safe mode with only system files running.
Can I reflash the stock ROM in ODIN without the bootloader being unlocked? I know you can't do that if you are changing the partition. But I'm not sure if overwriting it with the same partition info counts as changing it. What about downgrading to the previous build? It's been a few years since I modded a phone. I am starting to forget the rules.
I'm open to other suggestions as well. Specifically what happens is the data connection doesn't work suddenly. Websites load to "Sorry, you are offline" errors. Then apps won't open at all. Or they force close immediately (All apps. CAn't even load settings) Then the phone shuts off (doesn't power down, just goes to black as if a thermal protection was triggered) And it reboots. Then it will repeat this process for an hour or two just boot looping and force shutting down until eventually it will boot properly and be somewhat stable for a day or two.
Any thoughts?
I tried the basic stuff. I freed up internal memory. I factory reset it. I cleared the cache is the bootloader and did the repair apps function. I uninstalled everything I could live without for a few days. The problem seems random. It's not when using a certain app. ONce in a while it'll do it just being in my pocket.
I did notice that the Opera Browser comments on Google Play have a bunch of people complaining that the apps doesn't work with their A32 phones and causes shut downs. I don't think it's the Operar Browser because I had the shut down in Safe Mode. But other people seem to be having the issue.
Start in safe mode, if runs ok it was something you installed. You are what you load...

Did that. Still got a random restart in safe mode.
I still think it's software. I just think it's a corrupted system file. Hence wanting to redo the system ROM.
I have no idea how to identify and isolate a system file in a non rooted phone.

It's possible. That's a serious problem. Is there a memory leak showing? Any resent updates?
Try a factory reset but don't load anything.
How can I check on a memory leak? I used to know how to do that on a rooted rom. But on a stock one....none of the fun apps I used to use work

Nothing looks weird right now in memory.
I will jump right to that the next time it starts a ring funky and see if something looks wrong then.

Memory leaks are very rare on Androids. Never saw one. That would probably crash it though.
The real question is if I can reflash the stock rom using Odin when my bootloader is NOT unlocked.
If there is a corrupted system file that should fix it. But with the bootloader locked I don't know if trying that will brick it.
If only there was a new update coming soon that with OTA fix it...
Stock version is ok to flash... unless it powers off during the flash.
A Samsung Experience center at best buy can do reflashes and allegedly have advanced diagnostic tools.
One way corruption can occur. If it flips a critical bit of data it can cause real mischief. There is no damage however to the hardware. I keep my phone far away from any ionizing radiation sources ie X-rays, CATs etc. because of this. The energy potential is probably too low but it may occasionally be enough to cause a SEU.
I'm getting a Serious software issue detected on start up.
I reflashed the stock rom....same one I had. And the issue persists. The reboots persist.
When it gets bad no apps open. Every app will force close on launch. Then it reboots. Ussually stuck in a boot/force reboot loop for 10-15 minutes until it finally loads stable. Then it might be good for a minute. Then it'll restart the loop.
Reflashing the stock rom didn't fix it. Next I'm going to try to downgrade it to the previous build. I don't know if I can even do that with a locked bootloaded but we'll see.
