I have random restarts on my Galaxy A32 5G (T Mobile). Running it stock. No mods at all.
Sometimes they get bad and basically boot loop the phone for a while before it stabilizes.
I am sure it's software because a factory reset fixed it for 8 days. Ran flawlessly. Then the problem came back. I have to think if it was hardware that this wouldn't have helped.
I think it's something corrupted in the stock ROM because the problem occurred when I booted to safe mode with only system files running.
Can I reflash the stock ROM in ODIN without the bootloader being unlocked? I know you can't do that if you are changing the partition. But I'm not sure if overwriting it with the same partition info counts as changing it. What about downgrading to the previous build? It's been a few years since I modded a phone. I am starting to forget the rules.
I'm open to other suggestions as well. Specifically what happens is the data connection doesn't work suddenly. Websites load to "Sorry, you are offline" errors. Then apps won't open at all. Or they force close immediately (All apps. CAn't even load settings) Then the phone shuts off (doesn't power down, just goes to black as if a thermal protection was triggered) And it reboots. Then it will repeat this process for an hour or two just boot looping and force shutting down until eventually it will boot properly and be somewhat stable for a day or two.
Any thoughts?
I tried the basic stuff. I freed up internal memory. I factory reset it. I cleared the cache is the bootloader and did the repair apps function. I uninstalled everything I could live without for a few days. The problem seems random. It's not when using a certain app. ONce in a while it'll do it just being in my pocket.
I did notice that the Opera Browser comments on Google Play have a bunch of people complaining that the apps doesn't work with their A32 phones and causes shut downs. I don't think it's the Operar Browser because I had the shut down in Safe Mode. But other people seem to be having the issue.
Start in safe mode, if runs ok it was something you installed. You are what you load...

Did that. Still got a random restart in safe mode.
I still think it's software. I just think it's a corrupted system file. Hence wanting to redo the system ROM.
I have no idea how to identify and isolate a system file in a non rooted phone.

It's possible. That's a serious problem. Is there a memory leak showing? Any resent updates?
Try a factory reset but don't load anything.
How can I check on a memory leak? I used to know how to do that on a rooted rom. But on a stock one....none of the fun apps I used to use work

Nothing looks weird right now in memory.
I will jump right to that the next time it starts a ring funky and see if something looks wrong then.

Memory leaks are very rare on Androids. Never saw one. That would probably crash it though.
The real question is if I can reflash the stock rom using Odin when my bootloader is NOT unlocked.
If there is a corrupted system file that should fix it. But with the bootloader locked I don't know if trying that will brick it.
If only there was a new update coming soon that with OTA fix it...
Stock version is ok to flash... unless it powers off during the flash.
A Samsung Experience center at best buy can do reflashes and allegedly have advanced diagnostic tools.
One way corruption can occur. If it flips a critical bit of data it can cause real mischief. There is no damage however to the hardware. I keep my phone far away from any ionizing radiation sources ie X-rays, CATs etc. because of this. The energy potential is probably too low but it may occasionally be enough to cause a SEU.
I'm getting a Serious software issue detected on start up.
I reflashed the stock rom....same one I had. And the issue persists. The reboots persist.
When it gets bad no apps open. Every app will force close on launch. Then it reboots. Ussually stuck in a boot/force reboot loop for 10-15 minutes until it finally loads stable. Then it might be good for a minute. Then it'll restart the loop.
Reflashing the stock rom didn't fix it. Next I'm going to try to downgrade it to the previous build. I don't know if I can even do that with a locked bootloaded but we'll see.

Follow the directions in the OneClick NvFlash CWM Recovery thread.. (the initial post). You should be good to go. It's in the development section.
i followed this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054492
specifically the part that says
How to revert back to stock recovery:
and i used the img5 file
like i said im new to this ive had a blackberry before this is all new to me
so was i right in the other thread and you have a factory fresh unrooted phone? thats an important detail
well i un-roothed it at one point ....
i believe i tried the factory reset when it was rooted, did i brick my phone?
this is what i did so far its at the SW upgrade with the yellow arrows part
what should i do now?

after you put the battery in, you should have just rebooted/powered up the phone. who told you to hold up and power? img5 was sent successfully. you have stock recovery. vol.down and power will now do a factory rest. what color is the text that say's reset all to factory? i think you're still in clockwork recovery even though it said img5 sent successfully. that would be odd though. unless your vol.up and power messed something up.
and....have you even flashed a custom recovery? why are you going back to stock recovery if not?
i guess ive been trying everything i find hoping that something works
ive got it to go back to stock and it seems as if the market is just not showing up
oh and you got a pm good sir....
fixed thanks to crazythunder !
way to go now whats next?
well ive beEn having fun with my phone
it doesn't die nearly as fast as before.... the gps works from time to time and it only restarts on its own 5-10 times a day unlike every 15 min when i first got it
now i get a really aggravating problem if i get a text message it re appears sometimes 20+ TIMES
what causes this ?
Its like it never stops with this dam phone!
for the last few days when I open the email program it takes a second to load then they are deleted a split second after they open. Gggggrrrrrrr
And it.comtinues today I get woken up with an alarm and a frozen phone. I had to pull the case apart and pull the battery out to stop the alarm

Hello all,
I was trying to install CWM on my transformer, and I was successful. The issue is that now I cannot start my transformer. When I press the power button, it turns on and comes to the screen with "Eee Pad" in the middle with Asus at the bottom and the Tegra logo below that. It sits at this screen with the speakers making a popping sound.
I followed the tutorial at this link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk_JREpqFkk
I had already done the one click root in the dev section, and I followed the tutorial in the description of the link above, I didn't know it was going through rooting before getting to install CWM, so I followed all the steps. I finally got to the end and tested to see if CWM was installed and it is. but I am having the issue I described above.
I want to flash a new ROM, but there are files I need to get off the internal storage, the CWM backup didn't get the files I wanted.
I decided to run ADB to try and get the files, it is able to list everything on the device, but when I issue the "pull" command, it says "error: device not found."
Is there any hope of getting my files off of this before I just flash a ROM since CWM is working? Any help is greatly appreciated.
I guess my next question is if I were to go ahead and flash a new ROM, will it touch the internal "SDCARD" folder? As I mentioned before I have a nandroid backup of all my apps, so that isn't an issue right now.
Flashing a rom won't touch your SDCARD folder. Now that you have CWM on there, I would do a wipe and reflash whatever ROM you're using. If your device is showing a boot screen at all, its not bricked.
Well I went ahead and did a wipe and flash of Krakd. Turns out I did lose the files on the internal storage. This will be a lesson learned for me, get a better backup system in place. I lost half of my semesters notes due to my impatience to get to a new ROM. *Note to self: Don't flash ROMs just before college finals week.*
I had most of my files backing up to dropbox with SugarSync, but a small chunk which happens to be the chunk I need for my final exams is lost. Unless flashing the ROM hid my files in some other directory it seems they are gone.
I do thank you for trying to help me out, and I am typing this from my Transformer, so it is back up and running, restoring all my apps. And I do have to say that Krakd is one hell of a fast ROM compared to stock, theres barely a hiccup even while it is restoring 150+ apps from my google account.
EDIT:
Actually I just realized that even though SugarSync was turned off on my PC, it was still backing up online automatically so I have recovered most of my notes. So as a message to everyone else, get sugarsync set up, it automatically syncs your files in the background, and it turned out to be a big life saver for me.
Possible Brick....
Can still see files with adb....
FYI
In the strictest sense of the term, bricking must imply that software error has rendered the device completely unrecoverable without some hardware replacement.
It was never a brick, the only bricks around are the ones that dropped from your arse when you couldnt boot the tablet.

Haha, I like that line, definitely true.
I did realize that the term 'brick' meant that the device was just as useful as a brick when that actually occurred, I just wanted to get some attention to the thread to possibly get it fixed sooner. If anything it was a soft brick.

Don't take it personally. You have more knowledge about Android software and hardware than I do, if you were at my level of knowledge I'm sure you'd want as many brains as you could looking at the issue to help out. I wasn't doing it to be a 'chump.'
I rarely ask questions on here because after enough searching around, I usually find a solution has already been found to my problem. This case was one of those times where I could not find a similar issue to solve my problem, and to me it was a time-sensitive problem.

I'm having an issue on my a52 where the keyboard is hanging a lot. I installed g- keyboard and it's a bit better but also hangs.
Anyone else have this issue and know of a fix?
Clear the system cache.
System instability and lagging are a bad signs... the only warnings you may get before a crash.
Make sure your data is backed up.
Find the root cause, suspect malware as a possibility as well.
If you did an OS upgrade a factory reset is needed.
Thank you for the reply.
I just received the phone yesterday and went through setup. I did check for updates and there was an update available so I ran it which brought the phone up to the latest June security patch. This morning after reading your message I did a factory reset to see if that would help but the keyboard still hangs. It's like it just can't keep up with typing or something? Everything else seems to work perfectly fine it's just typing on the keyboard that seems to hang?
"System instability and lagging are a bad signs"
Do you mean to say that it's possibly defective?
I have the 8GB / 256GB model.
If I switch between Google keyboard and Samsung Keyboard it will work ok for a little bit but them it starts hanging again. Very strange behavior.
Sure would suck to have to send it back
This a new phone?
Is there carrier bloatware present?
New to me, open box, unlocked SM-A525F/DS. Doesn't appear to have carrier bloatware.
I don't know... my first inclination be to return it.
Check for updates including the Samsung Galaxy store and Playstore. Make sure it's not a 3rd party app causing it.
My S4+ do that crap sometimes and I think was internet connection related.
The native keyboard is one of the best, it's the only one I use.
Yeah, I would think that the native Samsung keyboard app would work flawlessly but for some reason it hangs much more than the G-Keyboard.
Like I said I did a factory reset it and only loaded a new google account so I could test it out fresh and it is still doing it. It doesn't do it when I first open the phone but then after using it a bit the keyboard hanging issue starts to happen.
When I google the problem I only came across someone having the issue on a A51
the software update page says that it is up to date: Current version : A525FXXS2AUE2 / A525FOJM2AUE1 / A525XXS2AUE2
Security patch evel: June 1, 2021
Crap... that sucks. It maybe a mobo issue or a corrupted flash. I say return it if you can.
Almost sounds like a memory leak... is the ram usage steadily climbing?
So I got back from a dentist appointment and had left the A52 at home and I go to test the Samsung and Google keyboards and now they are working perfectly fine, smooth as butter, and I can't make it hang/freeze anymore?!?!?!
New to Samsung, coming from my PH-1 with custom ROM.
Where would I check that ram usage?
Yay!
Power management can cause erratic device behavior, I never use it.
Activate Developer options. Also you can see ram usage in Samsung Device Care.
Interesting, I do have power management on, I will keep that in mind if it starts acting up again.
I now have developer options on and I checked Device care:

Try disabling it and see what happens.
You need to weed out misbehaving apps one by one on a case by case basis.
3rd party apps that demand to run at startup deserve special attention.
Some apps like Brave browser continue to run in the background even after you close them. I finally ended up firewall blocking it when not in use to stop this behavior... nothing else worked.
Firewall blocking apps that don't need internet access also helps to move things along.
I do not have Brave browser on my A52? Was it a pre-installed app on yours that you can't uninstall?

Just an example. I keep it because of it's ad blocking ability plus no malware has ever breached it.
ok. Well it looks like power saving mode was already off. it must have reset to off when I did the factory reset. Under more battery settings there is a Adaptive battery setting which is on? Would this effect it?

Adaptive battery, kill it. That could induce this kind of behavior. Android manages its self well without it. Simply close out apps when done with them. This works well with most apps except for poorly coded ones like Brave
Go to running apps in Developer options to view some of what's eating up the house.
Sometimes cache apps like Brave are still running in the background even though it's not shown as a current running service. Killing it off the cache list will however shut it down.
I found it's easier to just close Brave then firewall block it until needed again
Hey, it could be worse... it could be an iphone
Thanks for you help! I just killed Adaptive battery. I found "Running services" , Im guessing it is what you mention? I do see a lot there: KLMS Agent, Video call effects, Samsung Pass, SmartThings, Bixby Voice, etc..... Samsung Keyboard and One Ui Home seem to be using the most memory.
Yay
Yeah a lot junk. I use Package Disabler and Karma Firewall as well as settings to knock it down.
Home - Package Disabler
The only NON-root solution that let’s you disable any unwanted packages that come pre-installed / installed with your phone / tablet.
www.packagedisabler.com
Typically those apps use a lot of ram but not much battery or CPU cycles.
Holy cow thats a lot, I have very few running compared to yours!
Adaptive battery seems to have been slowing the phone down as everything now is much more snappy.

hmm kinda weird i hope they provide the full rom for Global version on the site. or maybe a update with some fixes but we already know that the software support on redmagic phones are bad.
I THINK I finally figured it out. Once you set everything up and update apps, there is ANOTHER prompt to Finish Setting Up Your RedMagic Pro 7. If you hit that, it really doesn't do anything other than says it's finishing up, and after it's done THAT's when the stuttering begins on videos and games. Unfortunately, the prompt keeps popping up daily, which you can dismiss but only for the day, as it rears its head the next day. Anyway, working fine now and I really like the phone. But beware, good luck getting anything other than canned responses from the Nubia support line. I kept insisting I wanted to return the phone and they kept asking additional questions about the make/model, etc. which was just going to continue until the 2-week return period was up. If anyone discovers a way to delete this prompt, please let me know.

Have you tried updating the phones the firmware on the site is newer version.
You can download the zip file on your phone and update the phone using the local software update mode.
Maybe you can clear the cache of the Google apps.
For me the Google play store system update is stuck on December update for now.
I've cleared the cache on just about everything. Stupid question, but where can I find the firmware version on my phone? I dont see it anywhere under About Phone

i had this same problem on my redmagic 7. I posted a youtube video that i had to show to the redmagic repair. I ended up sending it back for a refund and getting the redmagic 7 pro.
I finally figured it out, after the setup, it came back with a "Finish setting Up Your Phone" prompt, which caused the stuttering after reboot. There was nothing else to set up anyway, so I reinstalled, ignored the prompt and disabled the Android Set-Up function, buried somewhere deep. It worked and since the recent updates have had no problem whatsoever. Nubia help is awful they just keep repeating things and telling me they're working on it.

This seems like a firmware issue or something. I recommend formatting your phone once and checking it. You can backup all your apps and data using the Samsung Smart Switch app before formatting.
If formatting doesn't work, then you might have to install an older firmware version via Odin to fix it.

May simply and more likely be a hidden setting in the user partition which a factory reset would resolve. Flashing the firmware carries risks and unless there's a hardware failure, or very rarely a single event upset the firmware doesn't just go corrupt.
It's more likely a 3rd party app altered the user partition user hidden settings. The biggest cause of issues on a stable load are 3rd party apps and their updates. That said it's better to find and fix the root cause rather than do a factory reset as the issue is likely to reoccur.
Trash apps ie social media, shopping apps should never be installed on a device.

It's true that there are risks for beginners, but there are tons of guides available now, and the process is pretty simple. It's also safe because you will only be flashing the original firmware directly from Samsung.

It's more likely a 3rd party app altered the user partition user hidden settings.

I don't know if that's possible but I don't understand how that would affect specifically the phone app only and not the other apps using microphone.

The biggest cause of issues on a stable load are 3rd party apps and their updates. That said it's better to find and fix the root cause rather than do a factory reset as the issue is likely to reoccur.
Trash apps ie social media, shopping apps should never be installed on a device.

While this statement may be true, it's simply impossible for most people to live without social media or shopping apps these days, so it's normal to install them.
Either way, this seems like a problem that you can't fix without trying random fixes. Since we are not sure about the root cause of this issue, he probably has to try everything until one works.
Everything as far as the apps and user are stored in the User partition. Some settings are hidden and normally not accessible to the user. So unless you have a partition worming rootkit (Android 9 and higher should be immune to this) a factory reset restores all default settings.
You can also in Settings>Apps clear of the apps data without losing other data. I would avoid doing both if possible.

If a factory reset fails then you reflash the same version stock firmware. If that fails to resolve it, it's hardware, probably the mobo. Don't kill the patient with the cure; do minimal risk fixes first.
If you insist on using social media apps login through a secure browser like Brave and don't download junk from them. They are battery hogs and an open security risk by multiple vectors.
is the thread solved? i'm not a A series user anymore, nor have experience with Qualcomm devices, but a method that most likely solves every single error is NAND Erasing + repartitioning in Odin
To do that all you need is:
º The stock firmware of your phone (can be obtained at https://samfw.com )
º Odin 3.14.x (NOT MODDED)
After gathering the resources, extract the single zip file that you got from samfw. You now have 5 smaller .tar.md5 files. Now extract the CSC_xxxxxxxxx.tar.md5 file and you will get a .pit file. Open Odin 3.14.x and load the files on its respective places. go to the engineering tab and insert the .pit file. then go to options and check Nand erase and also Repartition. then connect your phone into download mode and press start.
YOUR DATA WILL BE DESTROYED!! BACKUP EVERYTHING FIRST
