I have messed up! - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, I'll to be be as detailed as possible.
I recently got a Moto G XT1072, so I was planning to sell my Moto G XT1032.
The Moto G XT1032 was rooted, working perfectly fine on 4.4.2. Like a fool, because I recently rooted my Moto G XT1072 with relative ease, I thought I understand the whole fastboot process etc and I thought I'd try to update the Moto G XT1032 to lollipop. I saw a thread here and downloaded GPE 5.1 Lollipop and put it in the SDCard internal memory via Laptop. Then I loaded fastboot, went into fastboot in the phone and tried to update firmware via TWRP. It said it was loaded but then when I reboot is, it would load with little multi coloured balls spinning around. I left it all night but it was the same.
So, earlier today, I used the following thread, thinking that might help it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/install-brazil-5-0-ota-xt1033-t2963800
However, as I followed all the instructions, the phone now is stuck on the "bootloader unlocked warning" and it just stays there and the phone doesn't load.
Any ideas on how to get my phone back to normal please?
Thanks!

P.s. I cannot get into recovery anymore either! Help!

Why would you follow a guide for XT1033 + 5.0 OTA when you tried to flash an XT1032 with 5.1 GPE?
Anyway, I think your initial problem might be due to an incorrect partition format.
Now, for your new problem... Are you sure you cannot enter recovery at all? Try to push power + volume down for a least 10 seconds... I had a similar problem a while ago and I was able to enter recovery that way after a few tries... Don't give up just yet.

Because I thought I know it all but I'm actually stupid!
I can get into fastboot on my phone, but I cannot get into recovery. Any idea what to do?

I just thought about something... You probably flashed an incorrect recovery, so maybe flashing TWRP (GPE version) again from fastboot mode would solve the recovery problem and from there you can try and flash GPE again...
Actually, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Awesome, thanks. I can now access recovery. Any ideas on what to do now? I am absolutely clueless!

When I go to File manager and click on Sdcard, there is nothing there! Dunno if that makes any difference.
Please help!

Oh... You probably formatted your whole phone, then...
OK... What happens when you plug your phone (in recovery mode) to your computer? Are you able to access it? Can you copy files to it? If you can, you can copy the GPE zip to it and then flash it using the "Install" command in TWRP. If you can't, you need to "push" it to your sdcard using adb sideload. Are you familiar with that method?

[Q] RAZR HD XT 925 Boots into recovery by default

So, today I trade my HTC One for a RAZR XT925, $350, and a water proof 32GB Sandisk ultra sd card on Kijiji. I thought it was kinda weird to get all of this stuff, but it seemed fine at the time. Afterwards however, I found out that every time you turn off or reboot the phone, it tried to go into recovery mode or something with the android guy and a bar at the bottom in a loop and always factory reset the phone, so no matter what, every time you turned it off, it'd reset it. After hours and hours of work, I have the bootloader unlocked, rooted, CWM installed, and Cynogenmod also installed. It no longer factory resets it (I think, but i sent a text to a random number and when I rebooted it was still there), however, everytime i power off and power on, it goes into recovery mode. This is very annoying and will make it very hard to sell again, but if I can fix this last thing, I'll have a solid phone until the waterproof S4 comes out as well as having made like $100.
So basically, I need to know what to do to make it boot into the rom by default and not the recovery. Also, I searched it up and someone else had a problem where they kept booting into AP fastboot mode I think, I tried that line, it said successful, but it didnt work. For me, it's booting into the recovery by default.

I root it, unlocked the boot loader, flashed cwm recovery, and installed CyanogenMod. Now it boots into cwm recovery by default and if I click reboot system now, it just boots back into cwm. Only way to get to the system is to go to the boot menu by pressing all three buttons and selecting boot normally.
Stock recovery is gone. Cwm asked to replace it so that the phone doesn't reinstall it on reboot. Cwm doesn't, but when the phone booted it stock recovery, it used to get wiped.

No the problem was in stock. When I got it it wasn't rooted or anything, rooting helped fix the problem partially by not making it wipe every time I boot it. Now the only problem is that whenever I boot it up after a shut down or restart, it boots into recovery mode instead of the ROM.

did you ever find a solution for this? I just bought a used phone and am facing the same problem - I can't even boot into recovery, it will just start bootlooping again. Only thing that seems to be working is fastbood mode. (or regular reboot, but then everything is wiped every time)

Fastboot the stock ROM. That should return the phone to it's bone stock condition.

After a few hours, I (somehow) ended up being able to enter recovery. On the downside though, now it always goes automatically into fastboot, because everything seems to be screwed up. I even got CWM installed though (unlocked the device because I didn't know what else to do).
Now every time it goes into fastboot, the reason given is: "sticky bit fastboot"
Any ideas left?
Oh btw, I have a german phone, in case that matters somehow. I can't flash in any fastboot way anymore, now I always get some message about a downgraded version. Of course details can be supplied if needed.
edit: was now able to flash CM, no idea what I did so that it didn't give me errors anymore. It still goes into fastboot by default on every reboot though, I always need to select "reboot device" manually every time.

Sounds like you are able to use the phone. That’s good.
The error is saying it can’t downgrade the trust zone (tz) right? That is normal for a phone with an unlocked bootloader. You can simply ignore that.
The sticky bit fastboot problem looks like it can be fixed by issuing this command while in fastboot mode: fastboot oem fb_mode_clear

the fb_mode_clear was the culprit, thanks a lot!
and the error says: "downgraded security version. update gpt_main version failed. preflash validation failed for GPT" - which is still keeping me from flashing stuff via fastboot.
since I can't fastboot flash at the moment: do you happen to know where I can get the german modem image so that I can flash it using CWM? I think through all the flashing and trying I have a corrupt or wrong modem file (probably the US version). I can not log into the carrier network right now. it asks me for my SIM PIN and unlocks the SIM, but that's it. so I can't make phone calls or anything right now.

HELP!!!! I can't transfer files to my Moto G (XT1034) via USB (No OS runnning)

Lately i ve been having issues transfering files via USB to my Moto G 1st Gen (XT1034), so i looked through the web and i found out that if i changed my rom maybe i could fix it, so i decided to update my Moto G to Android 5.0 using Cyanogenmod 12, but i accidentally flashed a cwm version built for 2nd Gen Moto G and installed a rom built for 2nd Gen too that i had previously downloaded. After flashing and installing the rom it just bootlooped and now i cant transfer a Moto G 1st Gen rom to fix it!!! I ve tryed adb but i got "error: device not found", i ve also tryed manually installing those android USB drivers from a youtube video (Called How to Copy Files Over to your Android In a Bootloop with No OS using ADB!) but when i select the inf file i get a message telling me that those drivers are not supported on my 64 bit system.
Help me please im freaking out.

Deep breath! What can you access on your Moto G and where does it freeze? Can you enter fastboot mode? What OS/computer are you trying to get adb up and running on?
For fastboot mode, fully power off your device, press and hold down the volume down key, and then press the power button for about three seconds and release it. You should have a menu come up here with some options; under this mode, it is possible to manually restore a ROM and recovery. If you can get this far, you can relax a little and we can go from there.

The fact that you can enter both fastboot mode and recovery mode means you're probably fine. Read through the thread here about adb and fastboot (check both the OP and the last couple posts, as they direct you how to solve what I imagine is your issue):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537083&page=2
Also, read through the OP and the latest posts (4.4.4 requires extra commands because there are more files) to learn about manually restoring stock firmware here. This would put you back to your original state and original factory recovery and you can essentially start from scratch as a last resort:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219
If your recovery is working, is there a reason you can't just copy a new ROM onto your "sdcard" by mounting it over USB and flash that via recovery? If your recovery is shot, you may be able to manually restore the recovery using fastboot (ie. "fastboot flash recovery your-recovery-goes-here.img") and then reinstall an appropriate ROM from CWM/TWRP/Philz, whatever recovery you install, by wiping and copying the zip over USB onto the internal memory or by sideloading it using adb once you get that working.
Ask if you have any questions and take it slow! Anything you're doing now is risky, so you really want to measure twice and cut once.

Help with Flashing over CM Recovery?!

So a while ago I moved from CM11s to CM12. However, even though I opted not to install CM Recovery it did anyway -.-, thus now I am unable to flash over it with twrp no matter how much I flash it. I have tried flashing it and using a tool from the OPO Forums. Can anybody help me? I need to get Oxygen OS since CM12 has changed my battery life for the worse and has even dropped my calling quality.

I had the same problem and I tried to do various sequences of powering of and go in recovery mode (how all tutorial said) and nothing happens. After I used a Toolkit developed by WugFresh (if I remember correctly), you must only click "Recovery" and it'll install automatically the last TWRP for OPO (or you can choose one).
did you turn off "Update Cyanogen recovery" in developers options?

Power & vol down no longer loads bootloader after flashing

Hello,
I am getting myself deeper into trouble working on this.
First I will explain what I did, I wanted marshmallow and read TWRP needs to be updated to load it and also that that I cannot restore from older backup, so I figured I update TWRP first then do a backup.
I did the TWRP update via app, verified the partition and when done and rebooted to recovery, TWRP was still v2.7 and the phone won't boot, the OS was gone.
so then I figured I flash Dottat M8firmwareandRecovery to get the new TWRP and backed up the Data partition.
then found out that I can't use that Data partition with a different OS. So I figured I flash KitKat back on.
did that, now I can not get back into recovery, holding the Vol down with power will not go to HBOOT.
now KitKat loads, had root, but the dang thing auto updated to 4.4.3 and now lost root. I thought it can't auto update with s-off
so it as asking for another update now and I turned it off. Waiting for someone to help , I keep making it worse.
my phone was unlocked and s-off, I hope it still is, can anything undo that?
Please help

I've personally never seen a device go back to S-ON without the user doing it with the cmd.
That isn't to say it's never happened before.
I'd assume you are still S-OFF.
What happens when you flash a ROM that has a power menu and you select to reboot to recovery or bootloader?
Or you can root and download an app that works the same way. curious what it does.
Also how long are you holding the buttons?
If everything else is working you should be able to get to hboot/recovery - but I honestly don't know.
My suggestion?
Get a more recent RUU .exe and run it on your PC and see what happens.

My Galaxy Tab2 did that. and to correct myself.. one other condition. The older version of software included a "fastboot" option in settings->power that was more like a hibernate feature. That feature when enabled would prevent you from getting into bootloader.

That makes sense, 'fastboot' was on, its now off.
The bootloader works, KitKat OS is working, but not recovery. I get 'Entering Recovery . . .' on white htc screen and stuck there.
I used adb command prompt to flash recovery with fastboot then I tried HTC_fastboot and different versions of TWRP.
tried flashing with Flashify , no errors, it just doesn't load. I think something else is broke.
dottat, do you have an image of RUU rooted Kitkat with TWRP?

MATE 7 not booting

Hi, need some urgent help here.
I was trying to install a custom rom, so I unlocked first the bootloader, then flashed twrp 3.0.2 for Android 5.1 and with it I flashed KangVip rom (porto from honor 6).
Problem was it didn't boot, just black screen.
So I supposed the problem was with the rom so I flashed via fastboot the aosp 6, obviously with same results.
I tried lot of stuff (twrp 2.8.x.x, reinstall stock firmware, restore twrp backup of stock full firmware and so on - I did almost everything I could do) and now I'm with a Huge problem: no huawei logo at start, just a white screen and nothing happen. I have twrp 3.0.2 for 5.1 installed right now but I can't install stock recovery.
Please help me, what do I gotta do?
[emoji30]
the ported rom is based on Android 6.0 you have Android 5.1 youk should flash 5.1 based rom..
it's good to flash stock and update official to b560 or b571 depending on which region to have then flash twrp recovery and then flash desire rom..

But I have a problem, I can't install stock recovery and if I try to flash the .img files extracted from update.app nothing happens.
Also, I still have that problem with huawei logo disappeared and a blank white screen instead.

boot into bootloader and flash stock recovery but if you know what exactly firmware was you have(bxxx) then no need to flash recovery just put update.app to your sd card and then force update three buttons combination (volume both and power) turn off it remove data cable then press these three buttons it'll go in recovery sometime but try two or three times(in recovery turn off device) and try again if that method not work you should flash stock recovery to do so and if it didn't go to bootloader(fastboot) then connect data cable and then press vol- and power it'll go to bootloader in bootloader flash stock recovery then force update your device....

Hope you can help me out here...I had just gotten my HAM7 for a couple of days. Was on 4.4.2 B120, was able to get it up to B326. Just yesterday I attempted to flash up to B331 and it succeeded according to the "local update" option. Then it went on boot loop. I tried doing the force 3-button option and that worked to the point of saying it succeeded and will reboot. Now I'm stuck on Ascend Mate logo. I can no longer get into factory option mode (V+Power), only fastboot mode. Also, I can't do force update no more so I can't try any other "update.app" unless I'm missing something here.
Any help in getting this unit at least back to working condition will be a BIG help. I just received this two days ago.
Thx!!!!

Yes, bootloader is unlocked. FYI, I can't do Vol+ Power or 3-button force. I have no idea what went wrong after the B331 update.app flash. It said successful then boot loop after. I have looked all over the forums and tried everything from flashing C900B300 rollback to try and get 4.4.2 that I started out with, but I really don't know which firmware to start with. The last update.app files I was using was the European variants. Phone was originally locked to Ecuador MoviStar network at B120SP04, then I flashed up to B324 5.1.1. Rooted and then wanted to upgrade to B331 so I unrooted and flashed. Now I'm stuck.

Thank you very much....hope that will solve the boot issue and bring this unit back to life
Alright, so I've given up complete hope that I can get my unit back up and running again. I've tried so many ways already with no success (fastboot/adb, force upgrade, etc.,), and even tried to copy my second HAM7 images (via sdk tools) and to no avail.
The thing I'm trying to understand is where exactly do I start with trying to revive? When I first got this device from eBay, it was apparently still on "MoviStar" Telefonica-Spain network so my network bars showed "R" for roaming. Somehow, I was able to flash it from being on V100R001C00B120SP04a and upgrade to B127>B145>B324 which made me able to use my own service normally. It worked fine and I was even able to root it. Decided to do a last upgrade to B331 and while the local update option showed it as successfully installed, it went into boot loop ever since. Hence, I used European firmwares for most of the flashing. My second mate was on B145 and I was able to get that to B331, which is running fine right now.
ATM, I am ONLY able to do Volume-/Power to get into fastboot.
Doesn't work:
- V+/Power (stock recovery)
- V-+/Power (3-button force)
What works:
- V-/Power with USB for fastboot
*Bootloader is unlocked, but I do believe that after flashing the last firmware of B331, I may have done a factory wipe, which probably reset the USB debugging option as well. So, I'm sure I'm stuck with a device that just might be flashed on the wrong firmware and is factory reset which prevents me from flashing a custom rom or even the stock rom???
Any last advice I would be so thankful for...still waiting on the link for KangVip rom from (fazi2015)
All the best...

Okay, so final result is I'm stuck on a frozen logo now. The twrp bat file again showed success in flashing and rebooted the device, but I'm hung on the "Huawei Ascend" logo. I have to pull the battery to shut it off, otherwise it stays on. So I'm now sure that it's a hard bricked device since I did the stupid thing of factory resetting which probably reset the usb debug...making it almost impossible to flash any firmware now.
Thanks for the help anyways...I really appreciate it. Gonna throw this up on eBay and see if anyone wants it for parts

I know it's annoying but last time I research more and guide you I was have same problem don't give up....
I send you recovery flash in fastboot no need of usb debugging usb debugging need for adb not for fastboot in fastboot flash recovery by your self download it
https://mega.co.nz/#!GRw0CZjQ!iZllDkA6yJeWk7iEA4vEVA94r2nM_YjAuiS8B9IZdm0
then extract the zip go to resource and hold shift and left click then select open command port here then power off device completely boot into fastboot (bootloader) connect the device to pc and in command port type
fastboot flash recovery twrp_2_7.img
after that type
fastboot reboot and hold the volume- button of device it'll boot into recovery if you success then reply..
I've noticed two things when flashing KK or LP. On KK, the phone does a constant boot loop with Huawei logo (on off on off), but on LP the Huawei logo hangs...it doesn't boot loop. Is this an indication or just a fault with both OS?
