OPO mobile network issue - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone else had a problem with the mobile network on the OPO? I'm running stock cm12 5.02. When I leave a wifi network the mobile network fails to connect and an exclamation mark appears over the signal bar, I then have to reboot to get it to connect. Can anyone recommend a solution or is anyone else having this problem?

I'm having exactly the same problem. That's why I'm here on XDA at the moment, searching for a fix.

Let me know if you find anything, I have looked around but may have missed something

I am having a similar issue. I am not receiving calls now.
About Phone >> Status >> Mobile Network State is showing disconnected while my data gauge is showing full strength. This is all while in the middle of the city.
I'm on 12.0-YNG1TAS17L, 5.0.2, Baseband D1.3.0.c6-00230-M8974AAAAANAZM-1

I'll be trying the methods posted here. https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/guide-how-to-make-lte-faster-and-fixes-for-your-problems.77304/
Will report back.

Thanks, I will have a look at them and give them a try

I have the O2 modem installed and its working pretty fine.

Regarding the OnePlus links I posted above.. well they did NOT fix the issue. I am still missing calls. I will suddenly get voicemails with no indication of a call logged at all.
I will try that modem now.

Anyone else have this connectivity issue?

About a few times a day I lose my data connection on my N5 (reception bar turns the orange-y color in the quick settings) and the only way to reconnect is to restart the phone (going in and out of airplane mode or re-enabling data doesn't work). I'm having a hell of a time figuring what's causing this. I have tried factory resetting the phone and have compared the APNs with my girlfriends N4 and they are exactly the same. I don't think its the network (I have T-Mobile) because this has been going on for a long time. I'm trying to for similarities of when it happens and it kind of seems like when I wake it up from being in stand by but it may just seem that way. Phone calls and texts work while this happens. Anyone have any insight?

So would you say it's a T-Mobile issue or a Nexus 5 issue? My gf has a nexus 4 on T-Mobile and doesn't have this problem.

i dont know honestly, id say that its both a tmo and nexus 5 issue(because most that complain about this are on tmo). i have a nexus 4 as well, running lte(yea, i know the n4 isnt an lte phone ) and never had the issue on my n4.
Maybe t-mobile is working their towers in some cities

i dont have any links, as i really havent put any importance to it(for me. an airplane mode and back always fixes it for me. and it seems to happen most often after the phones been sleeping for a while). anyways, i have seen a few threads here about it though.

The radio chip in the phone has a firmware, that's what he's suggesting you could change, not your physical at-home modem/router.

[Q] Roaming icon on 4.4.3?

So as everyone in here, i'm a early adapter. Once 4.4.3. was released yesterday I had to have it.
For now, I wanted the stock 4.4.3. installed and so I did, but now I have this one annoying thing, my phone keeps telling me i'm roaming.
I'm on a Dutch virtual network Telfort which uses the network of KPN, I think it has something to do with that. Anyone else experience this "problem"/"feature ?
Better yet, does anyone have a workaround to turn this off?
I tried enabling/disabling Roaming , didn't work. Soft reset, re-install etc.. None of those actions worked unfortunately.
No-one has this problem?
why is it a problem? its letting you know that its using a different carriers towers. unless you are getting charged extra, id ignore it.
Me to, also telfort. Have no clue what has changed...
same problem here
Same here, have to keep roaming on...
So no clue if I have 3/4G...
Any solutions??

This is a problem because a lot of people live close to the border. With roaming enabled, you connect automatically with a foreign provider. at high costs.
I've managed to solve it using a work-around:
Downgraded both the bootloader and radio to:
bootloader: hhz11k
Radio: 1.0.25.0.23
wipe(!)
Kept WiFi off & skipped Google account set-up
Saw an H instead of an R above the signal icon
Tested: it works
Data Roaming box is unchecked.
I have got the roaming icon too. I have got Tele2 which uses the network of T-Mobile. I noticed that this is the case since I updated to 4.4.3, so it must be new since then.

[Q] Phone disconnects from mobile network when of WiFi and LTE

I have an issue with my One.
When on WiFi, my phone sometimes disconnects from the normal mobile network - and I don't mean data transfer, I mean that people are unable to call me.
What's irritating, my signal strength is reported as usual, stating that it's connected and with great signal strength. I'm doing it in the center of the city, so the carrier signal is not an issue.
After I disconnect from WiFi, normal connection gets back to normal (sometimes I see a little blink of no signal strength).
This is a deal breaker for me! I mean - my phone does not receive phone calls and I am not even aware of that, because the signal strength indicator shows max.
This has happened three times already (or more, and I am not aware), since Friday.
I have rooted the phone exactly according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2788632 - no other modifications.
Could use some help... Search yielded no results, I don't even know the tools I should be using to troubleshoot that (logcat?).
[EDIT]: Can't really tell if WiFi is the actual issue, but I suppose so. It only happened on WiFi, and with synchronization enabled it might realize the loss of connection and notify about it.

I have filed a bug here: https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/BACON-466
After some research I've found some additional info, that it's a matter of having both WiFi and LTE turned on (thus I have changed the topic of this thread).
There was a workaround for Nexus 5 described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-missed-calls-workaround-t2801654
And a discussion on Google forums, link in the comments of my bug.
I believe that it would be nice if someone could verify it. People reported that it happened on US T-MOBILE, but not on AT&T. I believe that Intelli3g solution posted in Nexus thread would work here as well.

Weird issue with Wifi/LTE to 3G disconnecting

Hi I currently have the latest Viper installed and I cant tell exactly what causes this issue or if there is a fix but it seems when my phone switches from 3G to LTE or vise versa, the data connection will completely drop and when I go into the settings under Mobile Data it will show disconnected. When I try and toggle the Mobile Data off and on (trying to fix it) it will not allow me and seems glitched. The only work around I've found is to go and change the Preferred network to LTE Mode, which connects but then I have no voice or text messaging. So then I will turn Mobile Data off, switch back to Global Mode, and then all is well in the world until it happens again and LTE switches to 3G.
I wont lie, this has happened on every Rom I have used since trying to update to 4.4.3, LiquidSmooth, Viper, and RKDN which is my current and I cannot for the life of me figure it out? I have tried EVERYTHING trying to remedy this issue from flashing tigers 4.4.3 firmware (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723159) to even flashing back to complete 4.4.2 RUU putting me back to complete STOCK kitkat 1.55.605.2 located here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2727831) and from there accepting the OTA updates to put me to stock 4.4.3 and then reflash TWRP and install new Rom and issue still remains!? I feel I am at the unfortunate point where this may be a defect with one of the radios or something in the phone and know matter what I do, its not going to fix... SO I may need to flash stock RUU and return to VZW and get new device? Which would suck, as I am not sure if there is a root/bootloader unlock method for a brand new M8 4.4.3, Is there? Anyone out there experiencing this?
This sounds very similar to my issue which I created a post not too long ago:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one-m8/help/network-issues-t2901138
I haven't tried flashing another ROM yet but I was thinking about it.
Also I tried popping out my SIM Card to see if there was anything wrong with it but it looks fine.

I'm not completely sure yet. I just know with the LTE/ Legacy 3GPP mode, I'm basically stuck in LTE. When would normally lose LTE and switch to 3g, It still shows 4G with 1 bar but not be able to do anything. Also phone calls don't work for me in that mode.

Awesome, glad that worked...Thats what I am dealing with. Just hoping that I maintain a LTE connection so my phone does not disconnect where I cant receive calls or text until it's too late.
Well, I guess Im just going to have to take it into Verizon and see if I can get a swap. Must be defect at this point
Does toggling Airplane mode off and on fix the issue? I sometimes get a loss of connection (I've never checked to see if Mobile Data says it was connected or not), and Airplane mode fixes it for me.
Also, the new devices can be S-Off'd, but there's a $25 fee. It's worth it if you get a new device though IMO.

[Q] Sprint Note Edge Dropped signal?

Just got my Edge and switched over from S5. Now my signal just randomly drops. Tried everything, update profile, change sim, reactivate, change roaming to home only, even went to the store. Maybe someone has a fix or the same problem before I try to get it exchange..
I am suffering through the same problem.
Ill have lte for a while and then i lose the signal completely. I had the galaxy 3 and it worked on lte just fine. Methinks the lte antenna doesnt work so good. Sometimes if i go to airplane mode and come back that works other times i reboot. Im tired of rebooting. Ive just lost the signal now trying to type this. If i switch to cdma it is much more reliable but who meeds a 1mb download speed. Iay be returning this phone soon. Such a shame. Its such a pretty phone.

What area are you in? S5 and note edge both use spark so it shouldn't be a signal issue. If you're in an area you got coverage in before, it's probably a hardware issue. Put the same SIM in the s5 and see if it works. That'll confirm it. I'm in Atlanta with plenty of lte and I've had no connectivity issues so I know for sure the edge (at least mine) works well.

Like I said, try the SIM in your old s5 if you still have it. If it works fine on there, it's probably a hardware problem with your note. Get it replaced.

Do you actually lose signal or does it just appear to be very weak? You cannot compare to an s3 as the edge runs on the Sprint Spark network. Spark works well with even one bar of signal in most places (I've gotten up to 5Mbps) and with full signal you can get 20Mbps +.
smh!!!
Ok i bought both the nexus 6 and note edge with sprint....got both in hand right now and neither phone will connect to the sprint network....after talking to tech support for a hr i was told to go to the store which im NOT doing bcuz the store reps have no clue and dont even have the phones in the store yet DUh sprint!.....so im assuming phones to new may have to wait weeks for minor software updates...... C'mon
I was having the same issue since I bought the device at the sprint store. I just kept removing and putting back the sim card till it finally stop. Anybody knows what this software update on my notifications brings?

Well, i live in goldsboro, nc. We dont have the spark network here yet that i know of. We do have 4g lte which always worked fine on my g3. On this phone it seems like i lose the signal a lot ie. Searching for service, webpage not available, sms will send when you regain service. I very rarely get more than one bar signal strength, then the lte turns light grey, then i lose signal. I can usually get it back by restarting the phone or going onto airplane mode briefly and then coming back. Ill have the signal for a few minutes and then lose it again. It was really bad last night but it doesnt seem so bad tonight. I got the phone tuesday so tomorrow is my last day for carefree return. Im not sure what to do. Has anyone else noticed this?

In many, more developed areas, spark will work fine even with 1 bar. In some areas though, you may get connectivity issues due to this. I believe you can call customer support and they can switch you over to LTE if you wish (this will also give you back the ability to use internet while on a call). At least the guy I talked to offered it.
me too
so I have had my Sprint Edge for one day. The signal fluxuates constantly and the data works maybe 20% of the time. Called sprint and working on a replacement as we speak. Went into the store and there was a repair tech there saying he has seen 5 other Edges with same issue and thinks its not the phone but the network profiles and that sprint will release and OTA to fix it. But am returning mine for exchange just to rule out hardware issues
I ended up getting hit with it again but after installing the software update no more signal issues. Funny thing though is I cant find any info on it and it seems I'm the only person who received it.

Popped up on its own. My friend got the update too but he's still experiencing the signal loss so now I'm not sure what did it for me. The only thing else I recall doing is switching lte/cdma mode to automatic and turning on all the roaming options plus the roaming guards.

tried that on mine with customer service on the phone. Still having issue and am curentyl waiting on a replacement phone.
Its a Firmware issue
Guys I am almost positive this issue is due to a glitch in Samsungs firmware. I tested the data and was able to download over 1 megabyte per second with only one bar on 4g Spark LTE.
According to the tech support person I talked to that would not be possible on only 1 bar. (btw I stopped the test after hitting 1 Megabyte per second for those that need help converting that equals 8mbps). I was in a saturated 4g Spark network with 5 towers within spitting distance from my location and it still only showed 1 bar. I'm thinking either how the tower reads the signal strength or a bad code line shows no more then 1 bar no matter what.
Now for those having dropped data. Check the Sprint site to see the saturation for 4g Spark service, the phones are now setup to LOCK on and HOLD onto the FASTEST tower, which according to the tech who also filled me in on the way the new antennas work, can lead to what seems to be dropped service. She would recommend for individuals having this issue if Spark service is not fully activated in your area to switch over to CDMA only under settings to fix the LTE data dropping issue. BTW the Spark LTE service is apparently different then the old LTE service so those versions do not appear to work interchangeably (according to the Sprint service map).
I also noticed someone else got the new version of the firmware, which I also have and that did NOT fix anything for me. If anyone is struggling with this issue I would wait until the firmware is updated again. WHICH I hope by that point we can get flashable firmware for those of us that are rooted...???
Now for a VERY Important Fact: there will now be no way to use data while on a phone call. These phones are a single antenna model. You can either be on the phone or data... UNLESS you are making a WiFi call. That is why this is now a option. It will keep the antenna set to the data side of things and make it possible to use data for the internet at the same time.
I hope this helps.
Adan
