Not going to happen. It does not benefit Nvidia or Microsoft at all. It may be possible but I doubt anyone will do it.

Are you serious? I promise you do not want to see Windows 10 Mobile on the Tablet Shield. It has no benefits at all over Android. Even Microsoft's services like Office and OneDrive is way better on Android.
I think he talk about that ?

i would not mind trying windows on my Shield actually
but it would have to have a decent amount of native apps as well, would like to compare the speed of apps under windows and android, would not be surprised if windows would outperform android, assuming native windows apps are written in C#/C/C++

Quick question guys, im thinking in buying today the microsoft surface 2 (none pro) with windows RT can i install the standard windows 8.1 so i can download any apps i want as oppose to the windows store? If not then i was thinking in the asus t100, whats your thoughts on this?
Windows 8.1 RT working on ARM CPU. Windows 8.1 working on x86-64 CPU. The answer is no.
Yep. May as well ask if you can buy an iPad and install OS X on it so you can run software that isn't in the iOS app store. Sigh...

You certainly can not. An ARM processor is very different from an x86 processor. Go for a Surface Pro. They're fantastic.
Hello.
We all know surface RT tablets won't get Windows 10 :/
Have hou ever heard of anyone being able to Install win10 mobile on surface RT ?
There are a lot of functionnality That would be missed, but given the state of the Windows Store on w8 and w10, I would guess There would be a few gains.
Both being ARM OSes, wouldn't it work ?
yeah, but will MS invest in building and testing it for Surface RT/2? nope.
Is it possible, in any way, to get Windows 10 mobile on a Surface 2 RT tablet? Since Windows 10 is a no-show on RT devices, it would be nice with a hint of upgrades on this nice tablet..

there is no Update for Surface2 RT
I know that, but like a "hack" of some sort, to get the Mobile rom on to the Surface?
At the moment no!

Could be interesting. If it is true, hopefully there will be an upgrade path for us Windows RT owners.
Update in post #5 below.
Oh do I hope this turns out to be true! After the disappointing lock-down of Windows RT, and then the seeming intentional breaking of the RT 8.0 jailbreak when 8.1 was released, a proper ARM version of Windows 10 (not mobile) would be awesome.
Most likely it is for when you plug your windows 10 mobile phone into a monitor, you get the full desktop instead of the mobile version. About the JIT emulator, it's also most likely just for windows 10 mobile phones when they are plugged into a monitor. My guess is this will all be included to windows 10 mobile in a few major updates

As the writer of the post theorises and Microsoft has updated to agree, they're expanding their Server systems to run on ARM devices, rather than bring Windows 10 to ARM. I believe it was all but confirmed that Windows 8.1 Update 3 (that brings a handful of Windows 10 features to RT) would be the end of the line for ARM laptops.
UPDATE: So here's something else that could be promising: "Windows 10 RT Is Alive, Supported By Device Guard"

Windows RT 8.1 is all kinds of screwed up. I am using their recovery image but it won't download update 2 or 3. Wondering if my RT has gone bad or if Microsoft pulled windows rt update 2 and 3 from the updater.
we wont get anything, for sure that is for new devices...I dont have any hope...

Where would somebody get an image for Windows 10 Mobile if they wanted to try to install it on the Shield? Been curious about this, and not a fan of Android as much as I thought, but don't like Apple.
Nowhere. Someone would had to make a ROM with Windows 10 and I don't think that there were any ports of Windows on ARM for anything other than HTC HD2 few years ago.

Not possible. Anyway Windows 10 Mobile is dead and boring to use compared to Android.

Much too difficult and complex. It would require not only porting Win10, but also the drivers/firmware to make it work with the Shield's specific hardware. Which don't exist, so you would have to do that from scratch? Getting it to work would probably take hundreds of hours, if ever. Plus, Windows is closed source, so it's probably not even legal to port it.
Much easier to just buy a WIn10 device, if that is what you want.
