FINALLY ENJOY YOUR NEW AOSP-like2.1, I Know I AM. Darch is awesome
thanks for the guide, but this is mainly just like a AOSP skin, it just *looks* like AOSP, the htc framework is still there with all their funky apps and backround services right?
That's the part I like the best, the general cleanliness of AOSP. Thanks though, I'll try it out.
Not just a skin
Actually, darch made this rom too. And THIS legend version i really like because of all the possibilities, i'm making my own version as we speak to include all of this stuff. But no, its not just a skin. I wouldnt go thru the effort of typing long instructions like that for just a skin. Give it a try, trust me. Youll thank me later
This is not "full function AOSP."
This is great, and will hold me over until a true AOSP 2.1 is developed. Thanks for the info.
Let Me Know AFTER You Try It.....

AOSP-like. And your opinion does not become valid until you try it yourself. If you dont want to try it and it doesnt appeal to you then dont bother to post. I put in alot of effort to get this to work for the ppl that DO want this. Ive seen too many of your posts and their negative nature. Id rather you not post in my threads please. Im putting effort forth to help others like myself get the most out of their devices, not to dampen their spirits or argue like a child. Im sure even you can appreciate my goal. Thank you.

By your own standards, my opinion is valid since I have tried this as is evidenced by this picture I posted 2 days ago here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5896331&postcount=488 and again yesterday after the Nexus news herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5918537&postcount=517. My only issue is that this is indeed a skin. Well, a skinned home replacement app. The "AOSP" taskbar is just modded HTC framework, and Helix is just as app. Everything else runs on HTC software, and is no way AOSP. Clearly you can see that I enjoy this look by the referenced links, but I think you should be more responsible with your labeling and call it what it is. Some people who dont understand the difference between a HTC ROM and an AOSP will be misled into thinking this is something its clearly not. I just think it should be labeled what it actually is in the thread description, and not bannered as something that does not exist.
EDIT- Also, there is no need to push the lib files to DarchLegend. Theyre already in the ROM when you download it.
Where can one find LiveWallPaper.apk and LiveWallPaperPicker.apk?
agree
I would have tried this had I not read this information
thanks
not AOSP
Simply put, this is not AOSP. AOSP has a different codebase which does not contain the HTC frameworks. Even without Rosie running, the frameworks will take up memory. That said, I have been working on a rom (which recently got deleted ). This rom will be the 2.1 Sense rom but without anything Sense related. I am going to try to remove the HTC frameworks but I can't guarantee that. At the very least it will look and act like AOSP 2.1. The difference between that one and this one is that everything Sense related will be removed including Rosie, widgets and the Sense services such as social network provider, etc. They all eat up memory which slows down the phone.

no I completely understand what this is and does, I'm not arguing that it's like a skin for a home replacement. My argument is that all the background stuff is still there, all the htc framework for the radio to work, settings, all that crap.
Darch doesn't replace all the "guts" of the htc build to that of the AOSP, he just ports someone's system dump to another phone. I don't do this for a living so I can't go into it any more than that, and I only say things I'm fairly certain are true, so if I go any deeper I'd probably be talking out my butt.
I'm glad to see a new face in the lines of development and hope to try out your custom build when you release it. You sound a little confrontational right now so I'm just going to leave it at that. cheers.

I have no opinion on it. Merely stating a fact.
I'm sure it's a very nice skin/whatever, and that you've put a lot of work into it and that some people want it and like it. I am simply suggesting that you don't call it "full function 2.1 AOSP" because it is absolutely not. IMO that's an insult to the Open Source Project, and it is highly misleading to people who are not as well informed about it as others.
yea id be pretty salty if i went to the honda dealership because i needed a hybrid to save on gas and when i got home and looked under the hood of my brand new hybrid only to find a carburated v8 that gets 6 miles to the gallon.. IMO thats what this is like the theme is fine and all that but its not a aosp rom
Thanks for the positivity...

Thanks for the constructive criticism,i really appreciate it. I didnt see this coming. Also; i should not have assumed that because i actually put the rom i was using in the thread title everyone would KNOW it was not android open source project framework. I was trying to create a workaround for anybody that wanted AOSP "feel" i guess. The best way to describe it is not what i was trying to do. I was trying to appeal to the ppl that liked the Darchdroid aosp2.1 as much as i did. Except here you get cam and camcorder. THIS IS NOT AOSP FRAMEWORK ITS HTC. But then again everyone upset about this already knows that. Trying to help the community, not confuse the less knowledgable
SORRY ALL
Apologies to all Sorry if i upset anyone with this thread. That was not my intent. I have been here a while and i thought my thread title would have eliminated all of this. aosp style. I have not figured out how to mix aosp with legend framework. Thus my title. I thought everyone here knew what this was by reading the title. I am sorry if i mislead anyone, and you were disappointed by what you read. I will be even more specific with my titling in the future to avoid issues like this. I dont need to be scolded for thinking this was AOSP, because i didnt. IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING, THIS IS NOT REALLY AOSP FRAMEWORK. Sorry for the disappointment and any confusion i caused. My goal here is to contribute to the community that i learn so much from, when i come up with something new.

Good point with the cars and all. One big difference though....roms are free. Also, anything you do can be undone. Ive dl'd roms that didnt even boot,
so how mad could you be? I wasnt aware that everyone wanted like aosp on the inside, i dont have that yet. Thats just the outside for now. Took a little less than a day. I am butchering 2 of the new roms i like best. I hear alot of ppl love sense and alot of ppl love aosp. I was trying to appeal to both crowds in a superficial way of sorts. I am hard @ work trying to cook what is wanted @ this point now that i hear it. Thanks

What effort have you put in? It is not like it is difficult. I have been doing this sense stock 1.5. All your instructions are from already existing threads. People know you disable Sense and use Home. People also know that you can install the Nexus launcher.
Overall another useless thread with regurgitated information.
Hi. Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Please delete if so. I was just curious about the possibility of porting Meego to the Droid Charge. I found this list of Meego porting projects (http://forum.meego.com/showthread.php?t=2414), and apparently there's even one for Hummingbird SoC-using phones (http://wiki.meego.com/ARM/Hummingbird).
I don't mean to start a flame war or annoy anyone or anything. I'm just interested in the possibility of a dual-boot setup. Does anyone with experience know if such a port would be possible? And if so, whether there's any coders who are interested?
We don't even have vanilla android available, and you'd rather have people work on a completely different OS? Not saying it's wrong, but wouldn't you rather have vanilla android before someone goes off and ports a completely different OS that is even more likely to never work?

Lol I should have clarified that I meant after ICS is done. I wanted to keep the post short. Sorry about that.
My feeling is that Google is intent on standardizing all their devices on ICS, so it will be a very long while before anyone has to worry about Jelly Bean coming out. In fact I suspect it will be a full year. So in the lull instead of developers getting bored and moving on to other devices I was hoping someone would be up to the challenge of porting MeeGo.
Just wanted to plan the seed of idea, and let it sprout or wither on its own.
Hello,
I'm extremely good with computers and done a few years worth of programming. I saw cornerstone and it looked really good. How would one go about integrating it into a asus or other rom build. I took a look at the source and it looks like a matter of adding the files. Is this somewhat correct? Also if i managed to whip up a version could it brick my device (to the point where I can't reflash or nandroid) from flashing it?
Thanks

I never said I was good with android. I've been in the community for under a year and never did much dev on it because of various other projects. The smartest teacher I ever met once told "If you lie about what you know you are only deceiving yourself". I'm not going to lie, I know nothing about android besides rooting and rom flashing. With that said I wouldn't know how it would be incorporated and what is occurring when you flash it (what is modified).
I would watch where you flash you smart ass comments because you can't judge what someone knows based on a internet comment.

Well, considering that you know nothing about Android development, and TBH if you were really interested in Android development and had years of programming experience, it should be very easy, provided you know anything about Java, to begin programming Android. But with a few years of programming experience, you should know a lot of Java, right?

Java isn't the only programming language that exists. I'm sure you realize that. I can already tell my your abrupt attitude that you have something against me (I'm sure because of the rooting thread). No reason exists why that should occur. It was a simple question where no trolling should reside.
Edit: Maybe I misinterpreted your comment, if so my apologizes. Yes I've been doing java for the last 6 months (on and off but I've came back fully for the last month). The other months were simple learning and reverse engineering(Which the 5 months could be questionably be worthless seeing that after I went back to the code I was reverse engineering everything made 25 times more sense then before)
Android is based on java. It uses a linux kernel. You should familiarize with these. No I wasn't being snide- the rooting thread was weird I admit, but I was actually just giving an earnest answer- you may not be the only one that reads it.

Listen, smart-ass, you ever heard of specialization? Just because someone is a physicist doesn't mean he knows everything in the field of physics. Just because someone is a programmer doesn't mean he knows everything about programming. If you have an allergic reaction, would you go to a proctologist or an allergist? If the proctologist would admit to his ignorance of someone's allergic reaction, would you question that he's a doctor at all?
I'm an engineer. Would you doubt I'm an engineer if if I told you I know nothing about chemical engineering?
This is why when programmers talk to each other, they don't say "I'm a programmer". Usually, they say "I'm a java programmer" or "I'm a visual basic programmer", etc. I once knew a C++ guy that almost pulled his hair out over the fact that you could only send one value from one method to another in java. Surprise surprise, the languages are designed differently as well.
I give up... not !!!..... but the troll will be no more
I realized right before I posted the last post that nothing will bring you out of your misconceptions.
The OP asked a legitimate question which you are now derailing by grandstanding as if you know anything. You've posted a lot in this thread already and in none of those posts have you been of any help. At the very least, you could help by keeping this post back on track by giving a proper response within topic.
I too am extremely good at computers and have been doing programming since 1982. But for the life of me I also wouldn't know how to integrate Cornerstone into ICS. Now since the poster asked the question relating to that, and you've so far posted more than anybody here in this thread, we are waiting for your answer to the OP's question...if you have any.

Horndroid, I think you are talking a lot but you don't really know the IT world...
I'm an IT professionnal, I'm developing in Java for about 4 years now and I don't know anything about Android development...
Do you really think a dev knows every programming language and every platform ?
I don't want to be rude but your answers are realy just spam to me and I really think you don't know what you are talking about !
The OP was just asking a question if you don't have any useful answer to give, avoid spamming his thread !

roflcopterofl, maybe you should ask the mod to delete this thread and try again. Good luck with finding what you need. Hope this event doesn't persuade you to give up. I hear there are a lot of people interested in working with cornerstone, so someone is bound to have the information you are looking for.
From what I've read from the developer who was working on officially integrating Cornerstone in to CM9 (and then abandoned), the Cornerstone code is a mess and kind of hard to work with. If you're not experienced with Android development specifically, it's going to be tough (although not impossible - just very difficult).

We can get the source code from the Onskreen site or is it on github too?

Haha ok thanks. Nothing wrong with a little argument of it leads to progress. I've been doing java for half a year but recently I've really picked it up. The other programming languages were lua (for a day lol), basic, visual basic, Html (markup but still). I do not know every language nor do I claim to. GoodIntentions won that argument by a long shot. My statement wasn't mean to be relative to other's knowledge. It was simply saying that I've done things like this in the past and have no fear. Could a mod lock this before it gets flamed.
Thanks
I'm probably not the only person here who would like a custom made Samsung theme. I really want to make my own and share it with people, themes based around video games. Halo and Undertale, to name a few. But Samsung, as dumb they are, refuses to let you develop themes unless you upload a portfolio of prior theme work. Now, I've never done that, but really now. How come we have to prove we want to make good themes when that's what we are trying to do? Does anyone know if there is a way around this roadblock?

Lets try to gather team of themers and other enthusiasts and try to do something.
I worked on a Sony devices, few years ago and I should check my older themes to remember few things.
If I may suggest or ask - could you, or anyone else, post all infos we have and all problems we should work on and I'll be glad to help on a project.
Don't know what's the problem but I can guess - you, probably, have signing problems, right?
On Sony devices we hade similar problems so we did simplest think we could find - we took official theme from store, decompiled it and do reverse engeniring,
It's easy to add your own assets then and edit few xml files.
As I said, I'm not sure which problems are here on Sammy devices and I really don't have time to Google all that out.
I'll built Java environment today on my main PC, install compilers and notepad++ so I could help if someone wants to try.

I'm actually a complete and utter noob at this. I'm a 14 year old who had come up with the idea of making some themes just yesterday. So I don't know the first thing about developing themes for anything. But if you could explain stuff or point me to someone who can teach me about everything, that would be great.
By the way, do you know if there are any other ways to root a Note 5 without using Odin? I've got the international unlocked version (SM-N920C), single SIM, and I don't want to have to flash the stock ROM back on when I need to get it serviced (prove I have warranty).

I'm quite sure you can't root 5+ Android using Kingo Root or similar not-so-friendly app.
The easiest way that I know of is chainsfire way.
One Tar, one Odin flash and that's it.

Hi All.
So here is the long and short side of it.
"SAMSUNG IS DUMB" They have made a theme development service in witch user can go and make their own theme, they then use this as advertisement to the public. Then once users have their devices they want to theme them and what do you know. Samsung then wants you to sign up for development once done they then refuse your application to the theme store for no reason what so ever.
I have seen a few very good themes around here for the note 5, much better then the useless girly/gay themes on the theme store and those users have been denied over and over.
So no, samsung does not give a rats ass if you are a good themer or not this is basically company personnel only that can them.
What we need is a user who by the magic of all things magical have been excepted by samsung to share his user credentials or profile so we can log into the theme service and use it our selves.
How does that sound?
Or someone to crack the software if they can get their hands on it (sadeempc!). There is samsung theme software available but its older versions. Possibly make some on it and use it as past work.

I have that software on my PC, but it's for developing for the possibly discontinued BADA OS. Now, I am not too keen on having someone crack software, bu the idea of a public theme dev account sounds great. Maybe some people should start making accounts and putting them out for us to use.

I am not one thats for cracking others work and time either, but when its impossible to get whether its priced with the same idea gas is priced or literally impossible due to whatever youd call it that samsung is pulling. What really is that, it really just hit me like, why are they being snobby little Bs with this theme software. Does it automatically go straight on the theme store when it is made? Let people make their own themes instead of being limited to the mostly awkward chinese or whatever they are themes. Everything is material or walk on Mars or LIVE with weird sayings and dudes with strange sporatic hair on their legs. We have this software to make themes that can only make us money and you none unless we approve it for store use. But you have to apply to get it, oh and submit some past theme creations (hehe). Just like those one kids everybody knows at sometime that nobody likes. Ud think theyd hand that for free and some wizard of themes would come from the midst and samsung could only bank. But nope. Like paying to feed the animals at the zoo or camels at a pumpkin patch. Dont people normally get paid to feed the animals. All @$$ backwards these days.
---------- Post added at 05:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:01 AM ----------
After brainstorming for a few minutes I have a solid conclusion. Given samsungs history of effort(lack) in previous apps, programs, etc. (Samsung nation, plus, forget the others*pointmade*, it has GOT to be because they do not have the people, the interest or simply care enough to go through that many theme submissions. Im sure tons would be pestering for a approval replys etc. I think they are already slacking with the 5 theme makers they have now as im pretty sure i seen a weed leaf on a theme the other day, its the swag one plus all of the same repetitive weird ones. Weed aint bad in some states at least (weird) but just sayin, i dont see any bud light ones or nething sweet like that. Its apparent that theme making is not coming from the US. Im almost positive on the application it doesnt even have the US listed on country list for areas of interest to sell or something like that. Which makes sense when u look at the options available
This sums up both what you and I are thinking in one gigantic paragraph. I did not even know Samsung was incompetent.
On a side note (get it?), can themes be shipped with live wallpapers as default, or will users have to install them separately from the Play store?
It would be nice to see some wallpapers coupled with some badass "living" themes.
I'm not sure this is possible but I figured this was the place to ask. Just got my shiny new S8 and found the *almost* perfect theme. I just want to change the color scheme a bit. The sad part is that I'm perfectly capable of doing all the graphic adjustments myself, but of course I have not been able to get the dev license needed to do that. (Applied again recently) I have searched forums here and far for ways around this, but nothing has panned out. I also have no interest in rooting my phone just for a theme.
I guess my question is if there are people out there with the proper tools that could unpack my theme, let me make my mods, and repack it? (For a fee of course) Not sure this is technically possible or not, but this is my last ditch effort before giving up. Thanks for any input, be it dream crushing or not.
