Hello all,
Guyz I am having issues with my stock lollipop nexus 5 screen. The screen works perfectly but won't lite up.
On kitkat it happens mostly after I hang up any call and need to restart phone to turn the screen on.
After lollipop update in Nov last year the phone screen goes off any time. I restart phone or charge for long time and screen turns on because usually on lollipop when battery drains the screen issue begins. lollipop update has this problem in beginning to drain battery very fast. However afrer another quick lollipop update which fixes issues my phone works for around 2 months and last time I have low battery and power saving turned on, the phone goes off and until now screen stays off and rest works like charm.
I tried factory reset but couldn't perform as I was unable to see what's happening on phone. I de attach the battery 2 times and wait for sometime and pressed the power button to discharge any power in phone, then connected battery connectors again but still nothing happen.
Does anyone help me on this or let me know what to do.
Your help will be appreciated

I've been on Jelly Bean for 5 hours. Apart from discovering that the CRT lock screen animation works only very sporadically (another thread here talks about it), 3 times the following has happened:
The phone was on idle, screen turned off. I woke my phone by pressing power button and nothing happened. I waited for almost 10 seconds, and the phone woke up. It took 10 SECONDS TO WAKE UP.
This has happened very sporadically too. I dont know if there's a pattern when it happens and when it does not. Anybody else here experience this problem?
First time it happened, I had Developer Options turned on. I turned it off.
After the second and third time, I restarted my phone.
That was an hour ago. It has not yet happened again, and I am watchful as ever. If someone else has faced a similar problem or knows whats causing it, please do reply!
I cant imagine what I'll do if this happens when I need the phone for an emergency.
sometimes when i press the power button nothing happen !! and i must press it again !

soft reboot? Happened to me before because I was using LBE app which is not compatible with JB, no more soft reboot after uninstalling the app.

Umm.. even with soft reboot, I would see some activity on the screen right? Like the booting animation or something..?
When I tried waking up the phone, it did not give any feedback whatsoever. It just sat there like a piece of dumb plastic for 10 seconds. And then, it nonchalantly showed me the lock screen as if nothing had gone wrong and I had only just pressed the power button.
BTW, it has been almost 6 hours since I restarted my phone and this incident has not repeated itself.
Don't try to remove the battery and insert again
Same problem was caused by my nexus S I9023 after the OTA update from google for jelly bean.I removed the battery then the system starts booting up without pressing the power button. Then i removed the battery again and suddenly phone stopped booting up.(No display,No usb connection,No power button ,No button combination work to enter into recovery mode)Phone became completely dead It is now hardbricked and became a paperweight....
Now im looking for the repair ..Can anyone suggest what can be done now ???

There is not much you can do...if you can´t start phone
even with a jig it´s bricked...it happens to me 2 times last year
without any flashing something wrong or so.
I turned phone off next morning it never wake up again.
I have raed that the reason is maybe the JB bootloader so
After repair I flashed ICS bootloader....we will see if it happens again.
good luck :good:
my nexus 5 d820 16 gigs would randomly shutdown for no reason, it wouldn't turn on without plugging it in. i was rooted and running cm11, then i tried carbon ROM, then c-ROM. c-ROM started to give me problems so i factory reset and switched to carbon but the problems remained. then i unrooted, thinking that root was the problem but no signs of improvement, so i re-locked the bootloader but still the problem remained. it would sometimes also shut down if i unplug it and would always forget my WiFi connection for some reason. help me please. thanks in advance.
Well sounds like a hardware problem since you already unroofed and relocked boot loader I would say call lg and get a warranty replacement

Sorry to bring this post back after a long time.
I had a similar but not exactly the same problem.
2 nights ago I left the phone on the table, and a few minutes later, when I picked it up, it was off (It had about 60% battery left when I put it down).
Then it would not wake up; I kept the power button pressed for like 20 seconds to force a shutdown, and then tried to power up with no luck, so I'm thinking I'm screwed.
I tried again and it powered up to a graphical noise screen as seen in the attached image, but then it showed the boot animation and came back to life.
This morning it shut off by itself while listening to music (Google play), but powered back on right away...
Rooted 4.4.4, stock ROM, Xposed with Greenify, Amplify and wakelock detector (all latest versions). But no changes for a couple weeks before this started happening.
No specific app running (at least in the foreground).
Any one knows where I can find any kind of log or trace about this, if any at all?
Has anyone experienced this as well?
Thanks
Hey everyone!
So I have this very unusual problem on my nexus 5. First of all the device turned off on its own, battery at that time was about 14% and battery saver mode was on. After trying infinite number of times to turn on the phone, it just didn't turn on. After connecting the nexus 5 to wall charger, phone automatically boots up goes to the point where google logo shows up and then it reboots again. It's a continuous rebooting process every time reaching at google logo and rebooting. I'm running Lollipop 5.1.
HELP ME OUT!!!!
I had similar problem. Mine was a power button problem (hardware). Banging it on the table a few times did the trick.
How have you updated the nexus, via PC(cmd prompt process) or via OTA?
If OTA then try booting to the bootloader menu when the nexus device is switched off and do a hard reset.....

Well guys, banging the phone sideways did work for me. Banged my phone multiple times on a cloth wrapped around the hard surface. Do try this before doing anything else. Thanks members for your valuable inputs.
I just got the moto g
I had updated to marshmallow just after opening the box.
It's the second day of the device and the display just turned black all of a sudden. On screen buttons gone too.
I pressed the power button and the screen turned off. When i turned the screen on again after 5 secs the screen turned black again.
I turned the screen off and on again.
This time the screen kept blinking. It didn't turn off just the contents of the screen kept blinking.
After I rebooted the phone, the issue disappeared.
I'm not sure if it is a software bug that happened or early signs of some hardware issue. I still have the 30 days for replacement.
Rest of the device is working fine.
Has anyone found the same issue?
I am using stock software, no root.
Yes brand new stock moto g updated to m and had the exact same issue, it's happened once a day so far to me (I'm on day three of owning the phone) A reboot fixes it but it's annoy I don't want to have to reboot the device all the time. I can see it being annoying trying to get the device swapped because when I wipe the device to give it back to the shop it will be working fine :-\
It just seems to happen randomly, nothing to do with a certain app I don't think, I can't replicte it when I try to figure out the cause of it.
Hello,
I live in Brazil and bought a Nexus 6p 7 months ago.
I left my cell phone charging at night and dawned off.
The charging animation remained on the screen indicating that the unit was charging. But he can never complete the load.
I can turn the phone on, but it only starts the process and it shuts off for lack of strength.
I bought a new battery and changed the battery. But the problem continued.
I took the batteries in a technician and he said they are charged.
It seems that something prevents the cargo from being identified. The cell phone shuts off because it thinks it has no charge.
By pressing the 'Volume -' and 'Power' button I can see the options normally.
I did 'Recovery mode' and it worked. But I can not use the device. The device can not finish the power-on process because it does not have enough power.
My device updated to version 7.1.1 of android about 10 days ago.
I researched a few things about this version being causing battery problems on the Nexus 6p.
I would like to go back to version 6 of android. But I can not because the phone does not turn on.
Please, I have no options. Anyone have any idea how to fix my device.
Thank you for any help.
Hi !
Have you tried this method ?
Good luck !
