[Q] Question about flashing with ODIN and Smart Switch - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear folks,
I have a dutch Galaxy S6 (firm: XXU1AOCV, Netherlands) which i updated today manually with ODIN to XXU1AOE3 (France)
I flashed with stock settings in ODIN and my question is:
1. How can i flash a rom in ODIN so the phone will flash device to factory reset? Since i flash with ODIN, my apps still remain. Do i have to check another box in ODIN?
2. Is it ok to flash another firmware from different country on device from native country?
Many thanks in advance!

I would like to know exactly the same...

I yesterday flashed france newest firmware, its ok i believe.
After the flash i immediately made factory reset...

So far so good, i did a flash via ODIN and a factory reset afterwards. Only language and keyboard dictionary is set in other language.
I hope within a month our device will be upgraded to 5.1.1 and our device will be flying!!
Thanks

So, having smart switch installed on your pc doesn't cause any problems when flashing via odin? Samsung KIES did cause some problems when flashing via odin.
And how's performance? Is the latest french firmware really that much better than our latest Dutch version?

[Q] Double CSC

Hi everyone,
Before when I was still on 5.0.2 and I could not wait for 5.1.1, I updated my S6 to 5.1.1 flashing the french firmware using odin.
Because now the Belgium 5.1.1 was available on sammobile I decided to flash the Belgium firmware.
Now I have 2 CSC codes the French and the Belgium one, I expected it to be that way because I did not know how to totally wipe my phone without a custom recovery.
So my question is, how do I flash a stock firmware with odin without ending up with 2 CSC codes?
You'll have to factory reset and reboot to fix it.
That was the first thing I did.

Successful flash of SM-G920F - Anyone

OK, no matter what method I try I am unable to achieve a successful flash of my phone. I have tried it via odin with many different firmware versions but all seem to fail almost immediately. The only way to resolve this is to use samsung switch and reset phone to stock. The problem is stock firmware is german vodafone full of vodafone bloatware, I want to get rid of it and flash a UK unbranded firmware but no matter what I do I am unable to achieve this. I can see from the forum that there are many people out there with the same flashing problem but with no real responses on how to achieve the goal. There must be people out there that have achieved this task but don't seem to be offering up much help?
ok

Is your phone international unlocked out of the box? I dont believe it was, because as far as I've read international unlocked phones come with "unbranded" firmware. The unlocked ones I know can be pretty much flashed with "any" international firmware, which is what you are trying to do.
If you dont know for sure. Odin the stock German Vodaphone. Let the phone boot. Boot back to stock recovery, then factory reset and clear cache.
Then let the phone boot...Download phone info app by vndnguyen (free version is fine)...Open the app, go to CSC Code tab. Then that will tell you the active CSC code and your firmware CSC code...you are looking for the line that says Available CSC Codes. If it only lists German Vodaphone (VD2), then I believe you are stuck til the phone is unlocked.
Anyone, jump in here if I'm mistaken. I am using this as reference as, I've checked my G920F. Mine is unlocked tho and I can flash any firmware from any region with no problem. Hopefully I've answered your question.
I had no luck with the firmwares on the firmware page either.
If you are on OI9 check http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/guide-android-6-0-marshmallow-beta-how-t3277533
And try flashing the first stock firmware https://drive.google.com/folderview...sharing&tid=0B40ItdHKfkyQd1hJQXVDU3dDU2c#list (not the android M one!) via ODIN.
Basic process is:
Download the above file, extract, there should be 4 files inside (AP,BL,CP,CSC), simply select each one to go in the relevant box on ODIN, then go into download mode on your phone and click start...
N.B. Be aware that the above firmware contains a PIT file which will reformat and resize the partitions on your phone, so make sure you have a copy of the stock firmware that works before trying the flash (i.e. the one which Smart Switch downloads). You can grab it from your windows %TEMP% directory during the smart switch download (it first downloads a file to TMPxxx, then extracts it into a directory of the same name, its these files you want. They should be the four files beginning with the type of ODIN file you are flashing (AP,BL,CP,CSC). The files get deleted after the firmware has flashed so make sure you watch the process. If things go wrong you can re-flash these files via ODIN
As far as I was led to believe and when I purchased the phone it did state factory unlocked. I was able to put in any sim when I received it and didn't have to go through any aftermarket unlock process?

Just type in %TEMP% into you windows explorer address bar and it will take you there. arrange by date modified and you will see the size ticking up during the download, before the flash starts it will extract into a folder with the same name, the md5 files can be grabbed from there
No probs here

Ok, Got it this time, all four files. Will give the method above a go and if it fails at least I've got the stock firmware to fall back on?
Magic, have had great success. Now on the BTU firmware and everything is up and running. Got the stock as well just in case but if this continues to work won't be reinstalling stock. So a big thanks to those who helped

Lost OTA updates after flashing other region firmware

Hello everyone
I was wondering if it's normal not to get ota updates after flashing other region firmware. I got a Galazy S7 and it came with Spanish ROM - I flashed the Italian one and now to do updates I need to use Odin all the times.
I did not flash any other files other than AP. Should I have replaced the CSC as well? Any other benefit?
Using Odin doesn't bother me, but it would be easier if the phone could do everything itself.
PS: I am actually thinking of flashing the UK version of Android N! Is it good?
Thanks foir your patience
Andrea
you should use all the files ap cp csc bl

Sm-g930f remove Swisscom bloatwares without root

Please help me and excuse my poor english I'm a French guy. Thanks in advance :
I just bought an official new sm-g930f with a Knox set to 0x000 and I want to keep it that way.
The problem is that my phone came with a lot of swisscom bloatwares and apps, since booting up the phone the swisscom logo starts, and I find that very annoying and maybe battery draining with all of the swisscom apps. I want to remove all of that without rooting my phone.
I read different threads about downloading firmware and flash with Odin. Csc changing BTU ZEF. I didn't really understand and I'm afraid of rooting my phone.
My oreo o.s is g930fxxu2ere8.
Please help me. Thank you all
Flashing with Odin won't root your phone or trigger knox, you'd have to specifically flash a custom package to do that, which is hard to accidentally do.
Here's a guide for flashing with Odin: https://updato.com/how-to/how-to-install-an-official-samsung-stock-firmware-using-odin
Using the same site you can download the unbranded firmware and flash it, flashing home_csc will keep your data but may not get rid of all the bloat, flashing CSC triggers a factory wipe but should clean your bloat.
Thank you for replying I'm currently downloading a firmware that belongs to another country using SamFirm, my question now is :
How to flash the CSC (not home_csc) to get rid of bloatwares ? Does it come with the firmware from Sam mobile ? Thank you
Update
Update of what I did ; for the ones who may face the same problem : Please excuse my English ^_^
I used SamFirm to download a UK country of the Oreo O.S (Named: G930FXXU2ERD6) I installed Odin 3.13.1 on my i5 laptop and select every file of the downloaded firmware in the dedicated cases (I used Home_Csc file, instead of Csc file *this one marked failed in Odin for me anywa*), then hit start
Once Odin finishes the process you will be asked to enter your phone secured pin code. Enter it then you will be asked to Reset the phone. Then it will boot it normally. For me I did hard reset and wipe cache it after the reset.
Things are working the way I want right now and OTA updates are also working. No bloatware or swisscom animation during boot.
Thank you all have a great day.

Factory Reset SM-G930A, Unable to Update

So, I'm in China, and I have a Samsung S7 that I want to make usable that was factory reset, but I cannot update it here. I have tried using VPN-enabled Wi-Fi, but that hasn't work. Does anyone have any idea how I can update the phone to make it usable again? Phone is originally from South Korea.
