Trying to shoot HDR but surprised that the only parameters that can be used to apply the exposure changes are ISO & shutter speed. Where is the aperture priority? Surely both of these change the aperture &, therefore, affect the depth of field & focussing of the HDR series? Am I missing something here?

You can access the camera2 api of Nokia 6 with apps like opencamera or manual camera (this app is fantastic) and shoot RAW from both the front and back cameras.
There are also some more benefits like
- full manual focus
- iso adjustment upto 1600
- shutter speed adjustment upto 0.6s
- exposure bracketing shooting mode
- Kelvin based smooth WB slider
- realtime luminance and RGB histogram
etc
I've seen that shooting in RAW allows for suprisingly high dynamic range. The flexibility of being able to shoot RAW from the front camera along with autofocus (or manual) should highly appeal to selfie lovers
Been using the Adobe Lightroom app ?
Is there any information about what exact parameters camera uses for each of 13 recognizeble scenes? E.g., does the camera try to increase shutter speed in 'Performance' mode to prevent motion blur? Or does the camera use scene recognition for post-processing only?
Hello! Shutter speed is important for shooting night landscapes. The developers have limited the maximum shutter speed to 1/10 second. Therefore, automation puts a large ISO. Noise reduction turns parts into spots. Night photos from the A8 look much worse than on phones (cheaper) with the possibility of long exposure.
Is it possible to modify the software to remove the exposure limit? Third-party applications using the camera 2 api do not provide such an opportunity...

Try with Open Camera: https://opencamera.sourceforge.io
Try the manual mode Exposure compensation, ISO and Manual White Balance.
Quote from the FAQ:
ISO and shutter speed sliders - If Camera2 API is used, and a non-auto ISO mode is selected, instead of the exposure compensation sliders, two sliders will appear allowing you to control the ISO more finely, and (if supported) the exposure (shutter speed) time.

Hi all, you might know this already but I just found out and it seems like absolutely great news for this phone. The latest Open Camera update allows you to record video using every camera on the phone. Even the monochrome one works. No need to have perfect lighting conditions in order for the camera to switch between main and telephoto. You now have a dedicated camera button which lets you select what lens to use. Did you get the chance to try it out? I didn't have any issues yet.
Link please
Here it is:

Is the recording quality improved?
I'm not sure. You do have to option to record with maximum 80Mbps but I I find it hard to tell if that is any different from the 30Mbps standard rate. Video looks crisp and clear, colors are very good, especially if you lock the white balance.
Quality seems not as good.. Also can not use Camera API 2, for high res to get extra control in manual mode.
I'm not sure why you can't use camera2 api. For me it works and I can select iso and exposure during filming. I have a CLT L29.

whats your max resolution for recording video using Camera2 API?
For the 40mp lens and the telephoto lens, I have 3840x2160. The monochrome camera however has a resolution of 3264x1840 for video.
Sorry for necropost, but anyone tried open camera for B&W photos? Does it allow exposure bracketing? Raw or at least png for file saving? I would like to try p20 pro just for that monochrome lens...
You can save RAW with the B&W camera but for some reason the pictures appear purple.
I recently purchased an A-12 and want to take photos of the moon but they are very grainy, blurred.
Can anyone advise me me on the correct settings to use ?
Thanks in advance.......
So I watched a YT video on the subject, the guy said when you increase the ISO setting you should increase the shutter speed as well.
When I go into Pro mode I can only see 3 buttons - ISO, WB and another that has a slider from -2 ~ +2, I think it's something to do with brightness.
How do I adjust the shutter speed ?
Thanks in advance.....
In general, as long as you are able to set ISO you don't need to worry about shutter speed, it is adjusted automatically according to the scene brightness. Just set ISO to a smaller value and you'll have low noise and low shutter speeds, which, or course, cause the moving things to blur much more, so either a tripod or 4-axis optical stabilization is compulsory for sharp low-shutter-speed/long-exposure pictures. A12 does not have any optical stabilization at all, so you have to use a tripod. Also I recommend to set the exposure adjustment (it's the +/- slider) to a lower value to bring up details on the moon, otherwise it can look totally white.

Thanks very much uluruman, I will try that......
why you buy a lowcost device for that?
