build.prop file in Verizon HTC One M8 keeps on being overwritten/can't save - XDA Assist

First off, I've been reading all around here, and this doesn't seem like an uncommon problem.
I'm trying to edit my build.prop file to be able to unlock APN access on my Verizon phone as I need to use it for T-Mobile.
My problem is that nothing in system files that I edit, including build.prop, will stick. I have used Root Explorer Pro, buildprop editor. My phone is rooted through weaksauce 2.
Once I edit file, I save it, set chmod to 644 and restart. the build.prop isn't being editted back to the default, it's just being replaced completely-- it will be right back to the default build.prop file that was originally there, with the same create date and everything.
I've tried everything I know, and I absolutely cannot get anything to stay editted because no matter what I do, the phone will just replace my phones as soon as I boot.
My phone does not have a different ROM installed, and it is still S-ON, but I've tried to stay away from getting that far into it for something that I thought should be pretty simple to fix. Any advice?

[Q] using adb...

so i managed to soft brick an hdc note 3 clone , to my surprise the boot menu that came with it was upside down (you read that right) and while the option to factory reset it was there, no button gave the OK confirmation needed .
so next option was finding a suitable rom and doing the flash which came after hours of researching where needrom.com had few to test with and found drivers somewhere but would want to leave that as a final resort since this could brick it for good
now there was another option i came across yet need the assistance of an adb geek to help me with.
i originally bricked the device by copying build.prop to build.prop.bak in system folder then edited build.prop which lead it to soft brick, now the question, is there a way to use adb to access the device and delete old build.prop, then rename .bak one to build.prop?
please bare my noobness

This forum is not about clones - there are other places on xda where there are threads specific to certain clones and you can ask there.
Actually, regardless of clone or not, this is a standard ADB question.
However, it's in the wrong forum, so I'll move it to the Android General. Some folks there should be able to help you.

[Completed] [Q] LG 620 realm hands free activation Splash screen

Yes I have looked at all the other threads but still get the splash Hands free activation screen on a cold restart. Once I select it goes away because I have renamed the Activation.apk to Activation.bak under system/priv-app
the phione is new rooted via Kingo and I am modifing files using Root Browser
I have looked for the OmaDmClient.APK but it is nowhere to be found. Likewise no SprintDM.apk
I am new to phone programming and this issue is more a nuisance than a deal breaker but I do want it solved if anyone out there in the know can tell me which file starts up the splash screen. It seems to pop up just as the wireless signal module is started and once I click on activate it goes away because I have changed the Activate.apk file name . I read through all the other 6 threads on this but none seem to match my file so I am wondering if LG has recoded this activation screen for android 4.4 or maybe just my phone. What happens if I go in and clear the data/dalvik-cache file? Is it possible there are a few lines of code that are put there initially that prompt this action? Will this cache be rebuilt upon a reboot? Anyway maybe one of you has this figured out.
TIA

[Completed] Problem with BuildProp Editor and FileManager pro on SGN Edge

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Developer Edition 4.4.4 vzw
I use FM pro with root option checked.
I noticed that APN was not editable or add'able. Then looked into ways of fixing. I read somewhere to use BuildProp Editor and make a backup of build.prop, then edit it.
I installed BP editor and tried to make the backup, it failed. So I thought maybe it's not getting access, so I tried making it a system app, then tried the backup again, failed again. Then I made it a user app again and tried the option in FM pro to make system folders writable, then tried the BP backup again, success. At that point I just decided to back out of BP editor and check with FM pro to find the backup file, upon entering I found only the backup file on emulated 0, When normally it shows both 0 and legacy within emulated. I couldn't find legacy at all freaked out and deleted the backup made by BP, then I reloaded FM pro, still not showing legacy, got panicky at that point because lots of stuff is GONE off to visit Elvis and all the greats. Now I'm in the black, I try uncheck in the root and writable option in FM pro and legacy along with 0 are showing together again with matching files as is the norm, rechecked options and poof GONE again, only an empty 0 dir.
Reboot did nothing, runs as normal, boots and goes good. No noticeable issues with any apps or system. But I'm dumbfounded as to WTF is happening here. I made no changes to the actual build.prop. Also I noticed the re'entering BP Editor the backup was not showing up that's when I checked into FM Pro to find said backup, saw it and deleted it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
Sorry to hear about your trouble but fortunately there is an XDA area dedicated to the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge at http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge . Because your issue might be related to root and permissions matters specific to the VZW variant, I suggest you post your question with all relevant details in the Verizon subforum there at http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/verizon-note-edge-android-development where the experts familiar with your device will be best able to guide you.

Thank you, I did post in that area, and no hits yet. I posted here in hopes that it would get more attention to a possibly wide scale issue in newer models of android OS, as only a few people have this particular variant of the device. I'm not sure but it's probably not carrier specific.
Again thank you for your time in reading this and would be greatfull for any further technical input you or others may have.

No member can respond to you in this XDA Assist area as explained in the "Purpose of XDA Assist" thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2764768.
Because Verizon devices often have restrictions, such as locked bootloaders, not found on other models, the VZW Forum might be your best bet, but you might need to wait longer than a mere six or seven hours before anybody finds time to comment on your posts.

[Completed] Deleted all my .odex files in system root folder. No Boot, No recovery.

I've already posted this in another part of the forum, but I really need to figure out whether this is a fixable issue or not so i know whether or not to get a new phone... any help would be much appreciated!
It started with me half-assed reading the below post, and then horribly executing what i thought i had read...

So (and i know, i messed up) I Deleted all of .odex files with fx root explorer in the main system root folder(stupid!)… phone now starts to boot and gets stuck on android screen and stays there.
So far no recovery options will come up (have tried all start-up button combinations)
And all attempts to connect via usb have failed.
I do have proper drivers installed (installed from lg website)
And I have tried doing a hard reset (phone resets, android recovery robot image with open access panel on chest flashes briefly, then the phone resets again, back to square 1. does not continue to loop.)
I realize i did not follow your directions precisely, and would like to know if you can help me restore my phone, or at least tell me if i have completely ruined it?
It's an LG G Stylo from cricket.
It is rooted (via kingroot)
as mentioned, last known activity before loss of file system access was me deleting ALL .odex files found in a search of system root folder using fx root explorer.
thanks in advance for any reply you or anyone else might have

I messed up, need help! (Rooted s7 Verizon)

Please let me know if this is the wrong section for this question.
So I have a rooted phone that was originally on straight talk, i had to flash a verizon firmware to it cus i couldnt find straight talk firmware, so now technically it's a SM-G930V and i was using roehmsoft ram expander to try getting more ram from my SD card. Well, it said that I need to check my card's read and write perms, so i looked around on google and i tried setting the perms inside and i made platform.xml rw--r--r (644)
when i opened root browser it says my root directory is 85% filled (0.7gb / 5.00) so i figured i'd reset my phone even though i figured that wouldnt do anything, it didn't. It still says my root directory is 85%full and its making my device lag. I'm not sure what the hell I did, but I REALLY need some help, I would really appreciate it.
(by the way, I thought roehmsoft might have created the swapfile.swp in the root directory, but after a search nothing comes up, so i'm not sure if that's the problem.)
