Now that we have root, anyone remember all the files we need to disable to prevent Verizon from pushing an OTA to the phone?

Mine was already on the phone. Froze the above mentioned app and deleted update.zip from /cache/fota to remove it entirely.

You wouldn't be able to replace the backup app without root. at least as far as i know.

This thread can be deleted because there is a way to root without downgrading and without unlocking!

So I am truly confused.
I am trying to install an apk that is 6mb and I keep getting an error that I have insufficient space.
Problem is, 14 regular market apps updated just fine.
And I've 7.5 gigs free space.
I've rebooted into cwm recover, and fixed permissions, cleared the cache, still no fix.
Any ideas?

Yes sir.
The only thing done was a root. Other than this I'm stock.
Meaning I am not running any custom rom.
I have installed Google now... But that's it. That's the only mod flashed and it's been there two days before this problem manifested.

Of all the icons there one was a blank white tile, with the name of the developer, but no icon.
I deleted that...
Seems to be working now. You are a smart guy. Thanks given!

The day the JB OTA was released I deferred it. It then downloaded a couple of days later, which surprised me. I deferred the install and immediately rooted and unlocked. Then I ran Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper. After noticing one continuous wakelock caused by SDM I froze it. I'm hoping all this blocks the OTA from installing itself. If not what else can I do?
Also where is the downloaded file so I can delete it? Thanks!

True ... plus if you download a custom rom most of em will get rid of that option all together so no worries ever again
Any idea where the OTA file that was downloaded is stored so I can delete it? Thanks again

Bump...
I wondered the same thing. I froze with TiBu Updater6.0.741111 but I'm still concerned. I can't wait until CM11 is available so I can sleep at night and not worry about some verizon crap being pushed to my phone while I sleep.
Any confirmations on how to disable OTA's?
theres a package com.htc.updater, could that be it?

I've got the same issue. Very irritating. I've since rooted, installed beastmode, started Uninstalling a few system apps. Seeing if i can find an answer. I'll try self activation. As it seems the most logical.

Self activation? I see activate device, which leads to self service. Which says it's already activated.

I had this issue with my LG G4, and trailed me to the Note 5. I haven't had this pop-up now for a while since I had to do a factory reset in-os and in recovery. You might want to try that first.

Ummm thanks for the kind words regarding a kernel I make in my free time without owning this device?
No, it's not my kernel making things "crazy." What you're experiencing has to do with "ItsOn" and since I use original N920P source, and ramdisk, it mounts the carrier partition and the system loads itson from there. You can remedy this simply by using a root explorer to navigate to /carrier and remove itson related things.
Please don't blame my kernel and spread rumors if you don't understand what's happening.
