currently testing it with asus zenfone 2.. it did stopped 2 cores when i select 2 cpu on screen on mode..perhaps this may help that asus bugsh*t of android os in their 5.0r2 rom..will give feedback later..and also many thanks!
edit : it seems that the apps doesnt save any setting that you choose after a reboot and return back to default setting..

Yes, the app does not save it's settings, but is planned for future release (soon, I hope).

Do report back if it helps out with the zf2!

The Setting does not save and could not wake up my phone after hitting the power button.

seems like it doesnt help much, battery drain is not predictable because of android OS drain.. or maybe its because of zenfone 2 processor does not support core management, sometimes i feel like the phone is overheat when using 2 cores only. but the apps really working, it can shuts off the cores..

Sounds weird, on my Zenfone 5 it works ok (wakes up with power button nicelly).... are you sure it didn't wake up? If you're using 1 core it may have a little delay, like 1 second, before wake up).
The saving option is comming soon (next version almost done).
Thanks for your feedback!

If you look on a CPU app, the zf2 does underclock and disable cores automatically to save power, so core management must be supported somehow.

i never seen disabled core on our device..maybe its because of interactive/ondemand governor..but im hoping that asus unlock the bootloader so that custom kernel with hotplug governor can be developed..and i read somewhere ASUS stated that there is no core management for intel processor on zentalk..

Never tested it, but should work with more than 4 cores, the number of cores is read from the system.

Nice work!
I have been using the app for several days and it is working very well for me. It replaced the OS Monitor app I had been using on my OG Droid phone, and added the CPU clock frequency notification.
Thanks!

Would love to try this out on my EeePad Transformer but the market says it's incompatible. Is there any other way to test drive this app?
Also showing incompatible with my Acer Iconia A500. Would love to try the free app and possibly buy the paid if I like how it works. I've been looking for a good app for this!
Few questions guys.
1) Are you running a rooted/custom rom?
2) What is your location. I want to make sure I have it updated correctly in Market
3) Within your settings -> Applications panel. Do you have Unknown Sources checked? or within the Development section. Do you have USB debugging checked? If you don't you might want to try to check them. Try to download and install the app. Then set the values back to their orignal value.
Thanks!

Diagnosis - Know what's going on!
Description:
Ever wondered what your Android is currently doing?
On Windows we can open the task manager and get all the information we want.
On Android it will suspend the app we are currently using, but what if we wanted information about that app?
What if wanted to know if an app is currently downloading or uploading something? How much cpu is this app using?
Is this app running out of memory?
Is the battery getting too hot ?
What apps are running in the background, at this moment?
Did another app just start and cause lag?
Why doesnt this app tell me how much battery i have left?
Loosing track of time while gaming?
Diagnosis can display system information at all times, even while using other apps.
When Diagnosis is turned on, a small customizeable text is shown on screen giving you information of your choice.
(Check out the screenshots at the end of the post)
There are lots of settings to customise everything to your personal preference:
- Information displayed
- Position
- Size
- Color
- Font
- Update interval and much more...
Just give it a look, it is self explaining, but i will write a small guide later on.
If you wish you can turn on the database feature.
The collected information will be written into a seperate database on the sdcard and 4 extra tabs will appear.
These tabs will show information from the database (min/max/avg etc. values).
Some examples:
- How hot the battery got
- Minimum battery voltage reached
- Upload / Download traffic
- Seen apps with avg cpu and memory usage

Small update.
Lower density means bigger database, but more accurate data in the tabs.
With the default update interval of 5 seconds, it would mean every 30 seconds there is enough data for a database entry.
What do you think about the default update interval of 5 seconds? Too long , too short or just right?
v0.3.1
- Eased cpu usage a bit by adding a small delay
- Corrected some debug output
- lowered default density to from 12 to 6
- decreased maximum density from 120 to 60
- added text for default x and y position in preferences

Hello, thanks dev! I love this concept and have been using it since xmas.
Personally, I like the default at 2. Not sure how much that increases battery usage... I just like real time info.
Another couple things, adding temp to the default line 1. Maybe take away cpu freq or network up speed?
Temps in Fahrenheit.
And option to customize the threshold for "app cpu usage over x percent".
Option to start the service on boot.
Thanks for the input.
I will add extra info options with Temp instead of cpu freq or network speed.
Also Fahrenheit will be added as an option to the settings.
I'm current reworking the database feature as under certain conditions some info was not saved.
custom threshold and start on boot will be something for later .

Well awesome, keep up the good work, I really like this app. I'll keep you informed if I find anything else.
Looks like a very interesting app..Will test..
I have mine updating every 10 sec, any quicker and I ain't got time to read it
One feature that would be useful is that it would start at startup, I.e. the monitoring, so the text comes as soon as the phone starts
Btw, it works in ICS as well

thanks man, it looks pretty gooood
The display of informationnn worked really well but i was not satisfied with the database storing. I reworked the whole storing code and the result looks good, much cleaner code and more efficient. Some tweaks can be added but i'm going to sleep now, have to leave something for later .
@Cloaker added two sets with temperature instead of frequency and the settings contain an option for fahrenheit now.
Might move the setting, not sure if it should belong there...
Version v0.4 rc1
Changelog
v0.4
- fixed database enabling only working after restart of app
- added changelog
- added about dialog, with XDA link and email button
- improved some UI stuff
- rewrote database saving code

You can set the CPU cores as dynamic hotplug mode, single core mode or fully dual core mode.
This provides easy and simple way to use.
[ Features ]
*Set on boot
Change mode what you selected automatically on boot time.
Menu > Settings
[ Modes ]
*Dynamic Hotplug Mode
Default. Recently, mobile multicore CPUs turn off extra core(s) to save battery life when system is not busy and only use 1 core.
They turn on extra core(s) when system is busy. so system use all cores again.
*Single Core Mode
Use 1 core always. A extra core is shut down. It makes battery life longer but performance is decreased. [ Battery saving, Idle mode, Phone not in use ]
*Dual Core Mode
Use 2 cores always. Performance is increased but battery life is shorter than others. [Example : Zip or Rar Extraction, Photo Editing App Fast Load ]
*Available kernels
- FM Kernel 1.5
- Abyss Kernel 3.1

My Note is flying anyway...
So, i have seen this application and i have a question...What's the meaning of this??I mean...The only reason i can find it usefull is the one core mode that it can battery. But why someone to enable 2 cores all the time??The cores is auto enable when something ''heavy'' running in our device. Why to enable it when otherwise?
If i am wrong please light me up...
Anyway, thank u @tids2k for sharing. You are our researcher...

Benchmark testing, mostly, though it also adds a little "pop" to application launching and UI performance in some situations.

And theoretically 2 cores are more efficient than 1 due to both running at a lower clocked speed than it would with 1 core.

At first I was thinking "right whatever mate" - but then I started thinking ... maybe bad idea?
Are there scenarios where this might be true? I'm not sure of by what order of magnitude power consumption goes up by when increasing clocks but I seem to recall my WinMo phone Xscales had an expoential increase - specifically doubling the speed of the processor quadrupled the power consumption. This could be complete garbage btw, it was a long time ago and everything, and have no bearing at all on ARM processors.

The poster of that comment is simultaneous right and wrong.
If you have a multi-threaded app, it may well run faster and use less power by running two cores at a lower speed. However, for a single threaded app or task, a 2nd core is *never* going to be used, so it would just run slower.
The 2nd Core app is quite clear that running 2 cores all the time is going to hose your battery. However, if you are multitasking many apps, running just 1 core all the time will likely mean that that core has to run at a higher clockspeed all the time in order to cope with demand, and could also hose the battery.
Regards,
Dave

The thing is I hardly ever get below 50% during a days use (gotta love that Note battery!) so I'm looking forward to seeing what this does. I have the juice to consider it worthwhile.

[Kernel] ardatdat kernel v1.6b3 [CWM] (2012-04-06)

Dear all,
As I have already distributed the v1.6b1 (beta 1) to some (many?) of members a week ago. I have been requested to open a new thread such that I could highlight what have been changed and let all testers to express their feelings and opinions to the new kernel in this centralized thread.
First, let me introduce the features of "The New Kernel" ... (not The New iPad)...
1. Stabilized the voltage & frequency setting such that the 'stock' voltage is used without affecting OC stability.
2. As different machine's CPUs are different, OC to 1.35Ghz is not the most stable setting. Instead, 1.3Ghz will be the max.
3. Remove some of the useless codes used in v1.5
4. Pick some of the code difference from the official XWLA4 kernel
5. Add in support to read NTFS & CIFS file system
6. Switch to use the SLUB allocator
7. Disable ipv6 (unless I am told to add it back)
8. Other minor bug fixes
Next, let me conclude some of the comments from members on the beta:
1. Works fine with Titanium ROM 2.1
2. Undervolted it to 750mv @ 608mhz, more stable than v1.5
3. More smooth than v1.5
4. Not as warm as v1.5, so far so 'cool' in temperature
5. No lag, no freeze
So, welcome for more opinions, discussions and findings and let's discuss here. If everything goes right, I will release v1.6 within a few days

Yes, it should be fine.
Flashing the kernel every time is flashing a 'new' one. There are not any dependency with the previous kernel.
4 days of intensive testing and I've found no probs. Can someone put his undervolting stable results?

Thanks for your report.
As I think you are the only one experiencing that. Could you please elaborate more on the situation. Example: the SetCPU setting / profile setting / screenshot. Lag, how lag, and have you wipe the cache before flashing the new kernel? Have you tried to flash back v1.5 and see the situation. Also, battery drain is fast is strange as I use 'lower' voltage setting that v1.5.
Please help to test more and provide more information such that we could help in fixing the problem. Thanks.

when firstly i installed this i didn't format cache then restore to 1.5 but see ur instruction i format cache and again flash 1.6 since 2 hours flashing it runs quite smoothly now ....... in set cpu i have used 1200 mhz frequency and interactive profile but i doesn't change any voltage.......... please insist me if i have to change voltage either or frequency........
I tested frequency 1100 mhz and I must admit it's unbelievable how much boost i performance gives you clocking with just 100 mhz. I would say it's relatively the most efficient frequency. (if you compare differences between 1 and 1,1 ghz, and then 1,1 and 1,2 ghz).
Where can I find 1,6 version

u can't, it's still being tested, but if you want to participate send pm directly to ardatdat.
NTFS Support
Got my OTG cable today,
Plugged in my NTFS formatted Pen drive and its loaded with all gears.
Thanks ardatdat for bringing up NTFS support on my request.

I'm still on stock kernel, but will most likely update to ardatdat's 1.6 when released.
Is the performance boost perceived boost under general usage or is it synthetic benchmarks such as Antutu?
It was so funny. If v1.6 is not released, maybe you could all blame him for it.

We consider that many users do not know how to modify the system parameters, do not know how to optimize. So we did some work.
Version 1.7 has been perfect, we already have new innovations, please waiting.
