Screeching when making calls - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, for some reason my phone is now making an incredibly loud screeching noise when im making a call. both I and whoever is on the other end hear it. It could be a problem with the mic or earpiece. It is rooted with a custom rom on it.
Thanks.

yeah same here
except mine is not rooted
well it was rooted with ping pong root but it reverted back to normal when i factory reset the phone
i havent re-rooted since.
i get a weid screeching sound, usually goes away after a few seconds (but my last phone call to best buy left it on there for a while, i had to end the call)
is my phone faulty?
my speaker/mic broken?
any help would be appritiated

External Speaker suddenly stopped working

Hello everyone!
My external speaker suddenly stopped working. So now I cant go handsfree, I dont hear rings of incoming phones, or any sound that comes thru the external speaker.
Funnily the vibration during incoming calls doesnt come either. But it still vibrates while navigating thru menus.
I think a hardware reset might do the trick, but I cant tell before tomorrow, since I need to backup my files first.
Or is there a known bug with latest mango or a htc specific bug?
Okay vibration seems to work as it should, maybe I didnt feel it the first time I tested it.
Just now I had a moment where I heard menu sounds and then I quickly tried to play a ringtone which also came thrru the speakers but as you can guess, it stopped working again...
more update after the hardware reset tomorrow
It may just be the speaker blown out like mine did only 5 weeks after purchase. Not a big deal, the speaker is the same one as HTC EVO so a replacement part is easy to do yourself or through the Phone Carrier store (that has a repair center).
Since replacement mine has been fine since. When it was blown, it still worked, but was painful to listen to.
Ok thx. I will do that. I hoped it was some software error.
Taking my Arrive in today for the same thing. It just blew a few days ago, and any sound coming out of the external speaker just sounds distorted and garbled.

[Q] Incall sound disappeared...

Hello Everyone,
I have been using HTC Sensation for a good 3 months and no problem at all so far. The phone is rooed and uisng Insertcoin 2.4.1 Rom. 3 days ago while in a call, the sound faded away and since then there is some times sound coming from the ear piece sometimes not. Even the call starts succesfully loud and suddenly sound disappears. I have tried everything i know, reflashing, trying another Rom, formatting the SD card and not installing any software etc...During the call, i can communicate if i turn the speaker on or plug in the earphones. I belive that there is a bug that commands the phone to shut the earpiece and divert the sound either to speaker or the earphones.
Anyone ever has/had this kind of problem?
Thanks in advance!
Gokhan

Im having the same Problem, but i observed that the sound doesn't come back randomly, the earpiece speaker seems to shutdown a while after the display gets turned off due to the proximity sensor. I tried different ROMs, and got the same result, i guess it's a hardware problem. Would you tell me, if you get the exact same Problem, meaning you check if sound disappears when you're having it close to the head?
Thank you

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S Captivate - No sound from earpiece/media, but other sounds work

Hi Forum,
This is my first post so forgive me if this is in the wrong place
My phone is roughly a year old, and today I ran into a weird and potentially phone killing problem
I received a few phone calls from my girlfriend today, the ringer rang loud and clear, but I heard no sound from my ear piece. After a few "Hello?"s, I hung up thinking it was a bad connection. Upon seeing my girlfriend afterwards, she said she heard me on my end. So I got her to call me again and I tried to use speaker phone, and I could hear her fine.
Doing some research on google, I only ran across one other person who had this problem, and upon seeing this, I tested my music player, (as theirs didn't work), and mine doesn't work either
This other person said the problem resolved itself a day later.
In short, my ear piece has no sound during a phone call and my media sound doesn't work (though it works w/ headphones.) My notification sounds and speaker phone DO work
Do the notification and speaker phone speakers come from a different place than media and ear piece speakers?
Do I have a software issue?
Should I wait like the other person?
Any suggestions?
Thanks forum!
Were you able to resolve this issue by any chance?

High pitched noises coming out of call speaker

Okay so I ran into this REALLY weird issue with my call speaker yesterday
Yesterday, when I got home I placed my phone next to my keyboard and forgot about it after a while. When I wasn't behind the computer, someone called me but phone stopped ringing after 2-3 seconds (Possibly they had wrong number) BUT right after the phone stopped ringing, the call speaker began to emit a high pitched noise. I grabbed the phone and tried to stop it by taking out the battery. I also found out that the frequency of the high pitched noise changed every time I moved my phone just a little and then it stopped completely by itself
Today, when I was on the toilet, I received a call and in the middle of a call, the call speaker began to emit a REALLY loud noise (It sounded like the beeping of those really old soviet electronic alarm clocks). I only heard it but the person on the other end couldn't hear it. It got either quieter or louder depending on how I positioned the phone which is a sign that both these incidents are caused by a single issue
I never had this problem before and I'm pretty sure that it's a hardware issue since I tried the volume keys too and it seemed to ignore the volume controls or plugged in headphones
Any idea what could be causing this and how to get rid of this issue? I might not be able to send it for repairs so any "ghetto" repair guides are welcome

Extremely low call volume

hello, I'm having trouble with call volume on my S8+ Korean model. All other sounds are normal but call volume is like a whisper. Normal phone calls and WhatsApp calls are impossible to hear, I have to turn on the speaker or connect headphone every time I want to make a call.
Im using Batman rom without any sound mods.
I've tried googling and asking around but non seems to have this problem. I was thinking it was a defective earpiece speaker but there is still sound.
Anyone has any idea, please advise.
P/s: I've also tried resetting
This may seem simplistic but I would go back to the stock ROM and if the issues goes away you know the problem is with the ROM, if not then the issue is with the phone, probably.
I have the same problem on stock. Think it happened after last update and that's a while ago now. See there are a lot of people with the same problem at the samsung forum. Still no fix though :/
Maybe there is a way to fix it if we root? Force the speaker levels up or something.
