Hello, community! I recently bought a Chinese tablet and one of the first things I did was to install Google Play and Google Play Services via apk, I also added my Google account. The problem is that after loading for a while it says: 'The application Google Play Store has closed unexpectedly'. The amazing thing is that it pops up a notification that there are updates for my apps! Also the tablet shows up in my Google account as a device. The other applications that require Google Play services (like youtube and google now) run fine. My firmware version is 4.1.1. Also the download manager IS enabled. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

This means that you have purchased a chinese style software configuration tablet. Thanks to encouragement by ccp policies towards google, many manufacturers (would you believe i have in my hands a samsung note 8 that does the same thing!) have stripped out the play store in favor of other alternatives. For me, i am going to root and flash this tablet and forget default aoftware is even something that exists.....
Till yesterday everything was fine but today when I woke up and opened up google play,no longer can I see the 'designed for phones' tag below apps which are not optimized for tablets, cannot see the 'tablet highlights' section in the homepage of google play on my Galaxy tab 2 7 inch GT-P3100 stock ROM 4.2.2 not rooted. Is anyone else also facing the same issue?
I know that MX player is one of those apps which has the 'designed for phones' tag,but now it's gone(and it was not updated with a tablet inteface)
Also I tried to visit 'featured apps for tablets' section on google play with the help of google search through my browser and got an error of saying
'Error retrieving information from server. [DF-LA-01]'
Is this a bug or is google intentionally not recognizing my device as a tablet from now on?

Thanks for replying, what I did was I uninstalled all updates to google play which auto updated to the latest version within 5 minutes, that solved the problem and I could again see the 'Designed for phones' tag under non tablet optimized apps.

great then
have funn:good::good:
I have Samsung Tab 8.9 (P7310, Android 4.0.4) and when I try to install or update apps with Play Store (v5.2.13), Play Store crashes with message "Unfortunately Play Store has stopped".
Have tried clearing cache and clearing data to no avail. I uninstalled Play Store updates then it worked until it auto updated to v5.2.13. I also restored the tablet to factory default and again it worked until Play Store autoupdated to v5.2.13.
Found apk for Play Store v5.1.11 and installed that, then again Play Store worked properly until it updated to v5.2.13.
How is it possible to stop auto update of Play Store because its a hassle to always uninstall updates or install different version before trying to install or update apps.
Thanks!
BTW, I don't know about the inner workings of the tablet, file systems, etc. Nor, do I particularly want to become skilled in this regard...just want Play Store it to work again without the hassle so please be gentle with me.
Hi there,

Good luck
Whenever i open play store app on my s8 plus it just crash and message pop up saying that play store has stopped working. I have tried crearing cache, data and reboot. Nothing worked. Any solutions. My s8 plus is running latest android update.
Ive got a similar issue on a Galaxy S8, play store crashes every time I try turning it on unless I clear its cache, then its working as long as its stored in memory. Does anyone know any fix?

I cannot give you a direct answer to your question.
However consider this.?
On my previous devices, think it was Note 3 or Note 4
i had similar issues with Play store.
Trying to install apps but failing.
or Play store "crashing /stop working etc
Eventually i found that the app store crashes
was actually related to Play Services app which is " "linked " Play Store app.
Somehow i had wrong version of Play Services
installed or it somehow got corrupted.
So its just not the Play Store app but other
apps "linked" to it. eg Play Services.
End result
I decided just to do a factory reset
as i was to confused/annoyed
with whole issue, and did not know how to solve it.

There are devices with android 4 in which after a reset to factory settings or very long ago not updated, there is no way to log in to a Google or Samsung account. Here is a proven repair method.
Before you proceed with the repair, you need to be logged into your Google account from another device (phone, PC), to do verification of adding a new device.
The method was tested on an account with two-step login verification.
Remove Google account on the phone, uninstall updates and application data for Google Play and if installed, also Google Play Services.
Download on PC and upload to phone Google Play 5.1.1.
Download on PC and upload to phone Google Play Services. Download nodpi version or appropriate dpi for your phone. Depending on the amount of space on your phone and the correct operation of purchased applications in the Google Play, start testing from the lowest API.
Google Play Services (Android 2.3+)Google Play Services (Android 4.0+)Google Play Services (Android 4.1+)Google Play Services (Android 4.4+)On your phone, install first Googla Play and then Google Play Services.
Connect your phone to the Internet and wait a long while.
Launch Google Play. There will be a login process. Select an existing account (the one you are logged into on another device).
Approve on the other device messages, codes or other methods of authorization to add a new device to the account.
Check that everything works in the Google Play after you've finished adding your account and that store-bought apps refresh access to the full version (if not, make a copy of that app, uninstall it and reinstall it).
If anyone has checked their device and the guide works, please post about the model and any comments.
I confirm the correct operation of the described method on the original firmware for:
android 4.1.2 - LG Optimus 4X HD
android 4.2.2 - HTC One SV
android 4.4.2 - Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini LTE i9195
I can confirm that it partly works on my S3 mini (android 4.1.2): i can install apps from store, but the store crashes after a while

Did Google Play update itself to a higher version?
Did Google Play download Google Play services by itself, or did you install Google Play services?

Your android version doesn't matter, which is why I wrote "start testing from the lowest API". So start from the beginning, but with Services for Android 2.3+
well, that doesn't work on samsung galaxy s3 stock 4.3!!
maybe i don't understand what do you mean by "a long while"
i waited a hour and a half, 30 minutes and 30 minutes and it still failed.. how much do i wait or do i need another solution?

That should be enough, as long as you had an active Internet connection on your phone. Have you checked opening pages in the web browser?

2.3+ = i waited and nothing happened+play services started crashing every second
4.0+ = i waited and nothing happened
4.1+ = same as 2.3+
4.4+ = my s3 has 4.3 so it doesn't support it

Google Play 5.1.1 is from 2014. If it doesn't download Google Play Services to your phone on its own, then start installing Google Play Services from versions released in 2014, and you won't have a crash. Unfortunately, old versions of services do not connect the store to your account, so you have to experiment on your own, and uninstall and install successive younger versions of Google Play Services for so long, until Google Play login works.
Have you tried logging into a newly created account?
What exact model of S3 are you using?
