Google play tablet problems!!!!! - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Till yesterday everything was fine but today when I woke up and opened up google play,no longer can I see the 'designed for phones' tag below apps which are not optimized for tablets, cannot see the 'tablet highlights' section in the homepage of google play on my Galaxy tab 2 7 inch GT-P3100 stock ROM 4.2.2 not rooted. Is anyone else also facing the same issue?
I know that MX player is one of those apps which has the 'designed for phones' tag,but now it's gone(and it was not updated with a tablet inteface)
Also I tried to visit 'featured apps for tablets' section on google play with the help of google search through my browser and got an error of saying
'Error retrieving information from server. [DF-LA-01]'
Is this a bug or is google intentionally not recognizing my device as a tablet from now on?

Thanks for replying, what I did was I uninstalled all updates to google play which auto updated to the latest version within 5 minutes, that solved the problem and I could again see the 'Designed for phones' tag under non tablet optimized apps.

error while retrieving information from server. [RPC]

I seem to be having this strange issue with google market.
if I go to my apps, I only (according to play store) 1 app installed which is nit the case. Secondly, play store seems to think I have never purchased an app, eg, I have purchased titanium back up pro, but the store is yet again asking me to buy it at 4.99 where as it would usualy state 'purchased' and download. Secondly on trying to repurchase it states there was an error with the wallet, i then receive 2 emails a charge mail, and a refund message.
when i log in to the the play store on the web, it clearly shows apps that i have purchased in my account history with no price and the word 'purchased' but if I navigate manually, using search, it will state a price and ask me to pay
also i am using the same google account, i only have one.
below is an image of the error
Same problem, after cleaning cache problem disappears with bringing new one, f*&king blank page! No installed apps nor purchased asking me to buy it again. "All apps" tab is empty too. Damn wtf is wrong lol..
what rom are you using buddy?
I have the same problem.
The Google Play Market support could not help yet.
I think it does not matter what ROM on phone, this is a google play bug.
Yea i suppose, but looking on google play, its not under any known issues :/ looks like it may be a while before its fixed.
I contacted the customer support.
They could not solve the problem yet
it seems that the lost connection between Google account and purchased apps.
I sent some screenshots in Google Play support and I hope that the problem will be solved.
I advise you to contact Google Play support: [email protected]
I think if there is a lot of posts about this issue, it will speed up the solution
phew glad to see I"m not the only one. I'm hit with this as well on THREE different androids (one of whom is stock unrooted so its not my fault rofl).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24058132
I have also realized I am not getting application updates. its rare I go 3 days without a single update, maybe its because it thinks I have not purchased any apps lol
Any chances that your phone market local data is not yet synced properly with the google play ? I have seen that my apps (free or paid) is not listed out immediately right after I do a full wipe or flash a new rom with full wipe. But it will eventually show up itself after awhile with data/wifi connections. I personally didn't know how long it required to sync back but eventually they will appear back when I access the market again after I restored my personal data back.
By the way, did you guys try to check your account and performs a manual market sync in the Account settings section ?
yes yes and yes we've tried all the normal market fixes, downgraded market, uninstalled updates etc.
This issue is visible on multiple droids I own (including one unrooted stock) and on web market as well, its definitely server side
I'll check in on this thread too lol. I'm in exactly the same position. No response from google.

It seems not the same problem. This is another google play problem...
This discussion about the problem when the purchased app not in app-list when I trying to download&install app, google play say that the app is not bought.
Google Play thinks I have not purchased any apps.
I noticed that going to play.google.com and trying to install apps that way would give me errors. Trying to view my apps would have a page error. All my apps on my phone are gone, but my tablet has them oddly. Weird!

I have them on my phone and not my tablet! I think it might be related to market version whether or not they disappear device side. Can only assume the newest versions of market/store download the list from the server, rather than locally. Play.google.com doesn't work for me either.

I am also having the same problem after updating to OrDroid 1.7.5 from 1.7.3 hope this is fixed soon so I can install my apps from my backup.
I'm also have issues with my Galaxy S2 and Xoom
Same problem here with my Defy. I'm on CM7.2 Nightly build.
Just started having this problem a few moments ago on my Xoom. Cannot install any apps from the play market from my PC and keep getting server error when trying to access my apps on my xoom. Not checked my Galaxy S II yet... maybe a problem with Google?

[BUG] Google Maps crashes after refreshing Google Now

Hey all,
I've recorded and uploaded the video for a reproducible bug that I encountered after updating to the latest Google Maps and Google Search.
Essentially, every time Google Search is manually refreshed, Google Maps seems to crash.
I've got a rooted stock Nexus 5 on Android 4.4.2.
Google Maps version 7.6.0
Google Search version 3.2.17.1009776.arm
I've already tried the following things:
1) Cleared data on both apps and restarted the device.
2) Cleared cache via stock recovery.
None of these fixes the issue.
The only fix I found was to downgrade to the older Google Maps app.
Could anyone let me know if they are having the same issue and if anyone found a fix for it other than downgrading the app.
Thanks!

I was having this same issue on the 2013 n7 as well. So I cleared both apps' data, then uninstalled the updates on search then maps. One that's done, I force stopped maps just to be safe. I then reinstalled the search update first, followed by maps. Once both installed, I turned on Google now first before even opening maps. So far, I haven't had a crash, even after a restart. Maybe the order matters, maybe not, maybe it was dumb luck. Give it a shot, can't hurt.

@arts711 I tried your suggested solution but it didn't work for me. I guess I'll have to stick with maps 7.4.0 for now. Appreciate the tip though.

[FIXED] Error 905 when downloading large apps

Recently got the unlocked Galaxy S6 but every time I've tried to download large apps (Asphalt 8 and Monument Valley) from the Play Store I've been getting an error 905. I've erased cache and cleared data from the Play Store but it keeps doing it. Had to refund Monument Valley, in fact. Any thoughts on how to fix this? I've got the 32GB version by the way. I've searched for this error but it seems to only have affected old devices where internal memory was a problem.
Edit: I solved this by keeping the screen on while downloading and installing Asphalt 8 and not using the device till it had finished installing.

i noticed it happens when you clear your recent apps which includes playstore
Is it the Play Store being FC'd due to RAM being full?

Yeah i think so poor ram management and 5.0 memory leak issues all have summed up hoping a fix soon in 5.1

In my case the Play Store was not force closing, no. But I figured it could be related to memory leak issues since everything worked when I kept the play store on top and did not use the phone. And yes, hopefully it will be fixed with the 5.1 update.
Edit: I am the OP and have just remembered my old account.
Sometimes my Galaxy freezes and reboots when I install or update something from Play Store, I think that is a RAM issue.
i have the same issue...i can't download mortal kombat x!! are you disable screen sleep?
I have a completely different phone (LG Optimus L1 II, Android 4.1.2) and I found this thread while looking for the solution. It could be a problem with the current version of google play, since it happens on different devices with different android versions.
Edit: I found more threads about this by looking at the google results for the error 905 on the last week:
google.c om/search?q=google+play+error+905&tbs=qdr:w
(this is my second post, so I can't add links yet. remove the space on the .com)
I think that doing any system-related thing (installing an application, enabling root for an app, etc) makes the error show up
clear the cache and data of your play store app, and then restart your device. you can find detailed guide and explanation about this on http://technogiga.com/how-to-solve-error-905-in-android/
I've got the same problem on my Note 4 on KitKat... So it's probably something with the Play Store not Android.

In my case this did not work, however, keeping the device awake and staying on the same screen worked. I guess it's a memory problem.

Might be a Samsung problem.
If you read the thread, someone had the problem on their G3. So obviously it's either Android or Play Store causing the problem. I'm guessing it's the Play Store because it's happening across different Android versions.
Error 905
This happens after the new playstore update if we keep the screen on and stay on the play store the download completes
Tried with the old playstore version this problem doesnt arises :crying:
I am on Android 5.0.2 (LG G2) and the same thing happened to me. I followed the advise of keeping the screen on and keeping Play Store in the foreground and it worked.
Ive had this problem since day one, i try everthing, clearing cache, reinstalling the playstore, removing my google account, hard reset the phone, everything and after all that and the tests that i made i came up to notice that the problem was the memory, once the phone reach a high memory usage the playstore will close and the download will fail, if u keep ur phone with out ram consuming apps ull be able to download any apps without the need to keep the screen on and the playstore active.. so this an android problem to me and the memory management on lolipop.
so what's the best solution?

Theres no actual sulotion, u cant just try to clear the memory and then try to download the apps u need or u can just leave the screen on and put the playstore on top of all and dont use the phone at all. untill the app that u need has finish downloading.
same problem here on s6 and z3... so its a playstore issue
i have the same error
unable to download mortal kombat x too

CyanogenMod 12.1 Unofficial

OK so a couple days into Cyanogenmod 12.1 unofficial...loaded a bunch of apps, processor and graphics intensive games.... This OS is awesome! But...time will tell really... After a few weeks, months, lets see how it performs...I have high hopes based on what I've experienced so far...
I'm running this on my SG Tab 3 10.1 P5210
A few things I should mention:
1. I had a big learning experience (major noob here) with TWRP recovery. For some reason Odin wouldn't allow me to unchecked 'auto reboot' as it was grayed out. So I modified the .ini file and changed the auto boot parameter from 1 to 0. Then I had to learn... First reboot after Odining TWRP.....HOLD HOME BUTTON+VOLUME UP+POWER..ONCE YOU SEE SAMSUNG LOGO RELEASE POWER STILL HOLDING HOME+VOLUME UP! Reason is, if you continue to hold power button, it's like disconnecting the battery, and reboots tab! UGH...after first successful boot into TWRP Recovery, is all good... To boot into recovery just boot holding power+VOLUME up like normal recovery... TWRP now loads so the time line of cake...
2. The Google Openapps zip did not install with Odin.. I .had to search around, I found frankin GAopen apps for 4.4 and installed via odin....took several play store updates until all Google apps settled down. There's prolly a better way to get the Google stock apps (play store, gmail, etc) that come with Android to install better but...I got them working so I won't complain...
3. When I change the wall paper, the image went whacky. Had to install a 2nd theme, switch themes, then switch back to straighten wallpaper iimage out
4. Keyboard was funky...I think this was from the frankinapps that I installed. Fixed by installing Google keyboard and disabling all others
5. When I install apps, I move them to my MicroSD card if possible. Any app with a widget (Weather Channel, Android Central, Calendar app, any widget app) that I move to the SD card doesn't work anymore. In fact I don't even see the app in the widget drawer. If I install say Android Central and place widget on any screen then move it to SD card it stops working. Fix is, move it back to internal storage.
6. Battery seems to drain quicker however Android 5.1.1 lollipop handles this well because once I get down to about 20% it drains much slower. Faster drain is prolly due to the fact that I'm actually using this tab much more than ever so, this may be a non-issue
7. Not sure if this is lollipop or Cyanogrnmod but, Lollipop (which is what Cyanogenmod is built on) has some really great features such as - auto adjust screen brightness and hue based on time of day.... This is very cool because it's 9:30pm EST and very dim in the room I'm in right now so the screen auto dimmed and adjusted the hue nicely... This is a big plus because it's very easy on the eyes and most importantly it save battery
Overall... Again... 2 thumbs up!!!!
I have also just installed CM12.1 on my SG GT-P5210, and found that for some unknown reason I could not download apps from Google Play store . They would not download to my tablet even tho' play store said it was installed, and I cannot find the apps on my tablet which I wanted. Anyone else have this problem.
Apart from that I like the OS and want to keep it.

So, you don't even have Google play store app right? You need to boot back into TWRP recovery and install the Google stock apps again... You might want to clear cache, delvik and all that...When you do install gaopen, watch carefully because you may experience the same thing as I did... Failure to install thus I found and used the frankin Google apps....

No I didn't have the Google play store app, and I only installed the CM12.1 file which only gives a few basic apps. I did try the open-gapps file, as far as I could tell maps and play store were installed, (maybe to the browser), but there were problems with both the play store and the maps apps. Neither of them would work, and the maps app error message said to uninstall maps then reinstall, but I couldn't find where I could uninstall , only to disable the app.
I also downloaded the play store app to my tablet, but again it would not work, as it just closed down as soon as I opened it up.
It's weired that the play store and maps work from the browser, but not from the actual tablet.

An update here: After installing open-gapps-arm-5.1-mini-20160203,zip, the problem is down to google services not responing or working. This happens when I try to open the play store, gmail and anything else related to google and I get a message saying that Unfortunately Google Play services has stopped. There seems to be some problem related to the 'checking info' screen which never completes.

Instagram is listed as not compatible with the Pixel

My daughter started using a Pixel the other day and couldn't install Instagram. It wouldn't show up in Google Play. The phone is standard issue non-rooted running 8.1 with the latest security update. I showed her how to side load from apkmirror and the app seems to run just fine. Then checked Google Play from a browser and sure enough the Google Pixel is listed as not compatible. Has anyone else run into this issue? I sent feedback to Instagram, but there doesn't appear to be a direct support channel for end-users.
It's probably just an error on the site, I downloaded it straight from the Play Store without issues. I actually haven't come across an app that isn't supported.
If the problem persists, I'd recommend deleting cache and data for the Play Store and try again.

Found some similar comments to my problem on Reddit and it appears to be a problem on the Google Play back-end, not on the device. Most likely, Instagram mistakenly tagged the phone and blacklisted it. My screenshot shows the desktop web view, and it's clearly marked as not compatible. I don't think clearing cache/data on the device would change that web view of it not being compatible. On Reddit, someone who had it installed, deleted the app and ran into this same problem upon trying to reinstall. They also had to side-load. Luckily we can still side-load.
@Bluntified You were right. Clearing cache and data solved the issue. Thank you
