Hi,
I got the Huawei Ascend G525 as a gift from brother in law living in china, and now I am in a bind that it does not have the google play, i installed it using the apk file for google play but the whole UI is in Chinese settings , and the usual Chinese OS version issues for english user >_< , I managed to find and download German firmware (sorry forgot the link to post where it was) and tried to install it but the update failed. Further research led me to believe that i have to unlock its bootloader and I tried to use the method on huawei site (using adb toolkit) but for that i need bootloader unlock key and the site options to get key from huawei does not have G525 in list, so I am back to square one, Please let me know how i can unlock bootloader of Huawei G525 and if there is a new firmware I can use or something like flashing phone rom with Odin (I did flash my galaxy tab 2.0 with odin with new UK firmware)
The Android version is 4.1.2
and firmware file name, i download is Ascend_G525_firmwareú G525-U00,Android 4.1,Emotion_UI,G525-U00 V100R001C00B188,West_Europe
my mobile current firmware is G525-U00V100R001CHNC00B180
Please any help will be useful.

If you tell me the block name of recovery I will make backup for you
Until I´m not 100% sure which block it is I will not replace stock recovery against cwmr.

I don't know how to determine the block name my handset's recovery... how do I know that? Thanks...
my fear is, that we both have problems for flashing.
The unlock code for the bootloader you can get from huawei directly.
I tried this on my European version, but this will not be offered from Huwaei ( only chinese versions).
So I´m still not able to flash chinese Rom (b191) or any other Miui or Lewa Rom ,...
I also confirm the lack of bootloader unlock request in Huawei's website.
What did you do to get the bootloader unlock code? Did you send an e-mail? Where?
I also find myself in a dead end, because I try to get a backup of the current ROM in the phone, connect succesfully through adb (downloaded drivers from here ) however following instructions from here:I can not connect the device with "fastboot devices" (i get to Huawei Device devices in windows device manager with yellow exlamation mark and the phone has been booted in a pink background, i think this is the bootloader mode because I have done it with all three buttons, power, vol+, vol-). Do you think this is a locked bootloader problem?
Late reply and updates
Hi,
Sorry for not following post, (i think i accidently turned off the option to inform me of new replies via email)
I tried emailing to both the german support email and the chinese, chinese support email gave me no reply even though i mailed them 3 times, but german one did and said that my phone is from china so they can't provide any support,
I tried to talk to them on facebook and local Huawei support center, facebook, no help, though someone else was willing to him and thanks to him poiting to way how to install english super use i am able to see almost all system messages in english, and as for the local support, since its not launched here they said they can't do anything,
The problem at hand was that it was not launched any where else, so no english version firmware i could find,
I almost bricked phone when i played with the "sorry forgot name" sytem file where it said to include the contact mismatch to 10 so that i can see the contacts name in the messages (its from china so least match is 11) and thanks to my luck i was able to upgrade firmware to b191 from b180 on 3rd try and since then i am scary cat to do anything with phone,
and now i read that its being launched in UAE, so looking forward if they put new firmware download on english website, (hoping they dont wait for an update to put it on website and put the current stock one)
please update me if you can get your hands on new english firmware , ty

I send a short Email to [email protected] asking for the unlock code on saturday 7-12-2013.
Dear sir/madam,
I tried applying for a bootloader unlock code at unlock url which I cannot post because of XDA forum restricting me, but my device (Ascend G525) was not listed. I supply the data via this mail in the hope to get a bootloader unlock code via this way instead.

That's the good news, the bad news is that as far as connecting to my device I got as far as you got. As I'm on Ubuntu 13.04 64bit I added the usb rule needed for Huawei devices. It shows up when I execute "./adb devices". When I boot into hboot/fastboot mode by pressing the volume buttons and the on button I get the pink screen, but it does not show up when I run "./fastboot devices".
Anybody who knows how I can get fastboot to connect to a Huawei G525?
---------- Post added at 03:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:09 PM ----------
My bad, I thought I was starting the device in fastboot mode, but the pink screen denotes the download mode. I looked up the instructions to start the device into fastboot mode at sigmakey[dot]com. The complete list of steps that I followed were
Remove battery for >= 10 seconds
replace the battery
hold volume down and power button
when the screen locks on the Huawei logo you're in fastboot mode
connect the device via USB
run:" fastboot devices" and see if it's listed
run: "fastboot oem unlock [unlockcode]"
HUAWEI ASCEND G525 bootlock?
Got my phone 6 days ago. Rooted it.
Third day I messed it up by deleting languages (stupid, but selected them with a cleaner & removal tool).
I formatted a micro sd card, downloaded original firmware, started up in the installation mode but while busy unpacking, "installation failed".
Is it because of a bootlock? or is it something else.
Is there an boot unlocker for download for the G525? The phone doesn't start up, so I can only work out of the boot menu or sd card.
All tips are welcome.
try again

Where did you buy your phone from? Mine is from china , the bootunlocker is required to install custom rom (what i came to conclusion, from forums etc, corrsct me if it isn't the case), or rom other than compatible one, my has CHN in its firmware name and the firmware from chinese sites can only be used to update chinese firmware, i wanted to install the german firware for google play(now i achv through apk) and msg and phone number string match(Still found no soluton for it).
Now coming to your issue, i accidently deleted a system file too and phone won't start, so i downloaded firmware , copied the update folder as instructed in the pdf with it, but installation failed, being desperate, i tried again and again , and it would fail some point during extraction, but then on 6th or 7th attempt the file went threw, so either take your phone to support center best solution i would say, or try installing it a few times, try using a different sd card with better speed, but sorry cannot give a conclusive solution. ( Haven't messed with phone again )

Thanks!!!
I live - and bought mine - in Holland (the Netherlands).
I downloaded firmware too but when in download mode and with SD card in, the update stops ("Update failed").
How did your rom/firmware come trough? By updating from sd card or by downloading update directly from sd card?
Which firmware or rom did you download?
Ask Huawei support center
Hi,
First is there no support center for Huawei in your area ? In my case i got the mobile as gift from china and since this model G525 is not launched in my country, the support center refused on any support regarding firmware, so i went to chinese site http://consumer.huawei.com/cn/ and got the firmware from there, my previous firmware was B180 and then i updated it to B191 (currently available on china site).
Second where did you download the firmware from ? Because when i was trying to install the firmware from europe or us etc, (main reason the contacts least string match issue) , i could not find any firmware file on those sites, i went through all the sites, I even emailed german support , and they refused that they don't have any firmware, duh, because my mobile IMEI was not in their data base , (no ****), i do manage to find one posted by someone while going throw forums, but it failed to install, which lead me to believe i need bootunlock code
As for the update is concerned, I am not sure what are you asking about updating from SD card or downloading from SD card ? The only method Huawei G525 have is to download file to computer, extract it, put the update folder in the formatted sd card and then start the phone with volume keys so it start downloading file from sd card and then update firmware. Even the option from the settings to update firmware requires the same, just that , phone start itself in download mode and start the same process.
Like i said i don't have a specific answer why the update is failing, but most probably because the firmware you are trying to install does not support the current you have, I don't know why the hell they would put a restriction in update package to lock down it with previous firmware region. Since you might not know which firmware you previously had the new one might not support the old version, like B191 requires to have B182 or higher version, (wtf) mine came with B180, and there is no B182 or higher available for download, so it could be your phone has old firmware, not supported by current, so all i can say is better take it to customer service, and ask them for help,
and the method i mentioned is was just hit and trial, i was just desperate, so i kept phone pushing to update it.
Let me know if you find any better solution or how to install other firmwares

Hi there,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 (SMT-580) which I bought today. I followed this tutorial to install twrp, ultimately to root the device:
dottech .org/200476/how-to-install-twrp-recovery-on-samsung-galaxy-tab-a-sm-t580/
Everything worked fine and I was able to boot and reboot fine. Until I signed in with my Google Account. After trying to reboot, I get a black screen with the Samsung logo and a text in red saying: Custom binary blocked by FRP Lock. I went back to the store and they advised me to install Samsung Smart Switch to try and restore. In the Smart Switch program I get an error saying that the device is not supported by Smart Switch.
I can get into download mode, not into any other mode. The tablet doesn't start up at all. On the download mode it also says FRP Lock ON.
When I go back into ODIN and retry to install the from above TWRP image, it says operation failed.
Can anybody please advice? I am at a complete loss. Am I supposed to flash the original boot file? Where can I find that for my device? Will my tablet accept that, since ODIN didn't even want to flash my current TWRP image a second time?
P.S. I only read later that you are supposed to change the OEM setting. I didn't. Is that the cause of this issue, and if so, can I do something about it?
Thanks
Hi. Have you got it fixed yet? You need to download and flash stock firmware for your model and flash it in odin. Once it's done you have to enable oem unlock before you flash twrp. Let it be enabled as long as you you have twrp, root or anything custom.

ok, I read this is the place for noobs, so, I too got myself into a FRP LOCK on my Galaxy Tab A6 sm-T280. I use the tablet strictly for flying my drone for surveillance around the rural location where I live. It was having some connectivity problems, so I rooted it to hopefully get enough horsepower to run the DJI Go app. That didn't work so I did a wipe/factory reset, had a problem with the password, and here I am.
I am researching, and gathering the required tools to fix it.
I finally found some guides that are basic enough for me to understand.
I found numerous sites to download the stock rom, but not sure which ones are safe. Suggestions? Also, I am not sure about the country code for the firmware. I am in the USA, and I don't see it listed anywhere. Does it matter? This android stuff is all new and confusing to this old man. I am determined to get this tablet fixed, and would appreciate any and all advice. Thanks, Gary
edit: Will this rom work? : T280XXUOAPL1 using XAA for theCSC? Is xaa the default/generic for U.S.A. ?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ LDU that I am attempting to get to a state where I can use them as a tablet of sorts. I have read through a number of posts on this topic and generally the first response is that they were stolen which I would assume retracts from the desire to help. I am a manager at a big box retailer in the US and they were removed from display when the S9 and S9+ demos were brought in. I am attempting to use them for store purposes (DEMO VR, accessories, etc). That being said ... this is what I have done.
S8+: I stupidly attempted to simply flash a different factory image (attempted multiple networks from the the SM-G955U tree). The flash finishes generally but then after a reboot it gets to around 32% and stops the "update". Then it reboots again and is left with the "Security Error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software..." message. I have also attempted to flash TWRP but this fails (I'm assuming because OEM unlock wasn't completed before attempting). I thought to flash back to the LDU Image and start over but I can not find one online to use. This is where I am stuck.
S8: I used an APK "simple factory reset" which got ended up doing a reset and when it came back up it had a different retail mode app installed. I can get into the retail mode app and manage the settings with the password as I could before . With this I am able to uninstall/install apps, manage settings, reboot device, etc. It is basically where I would like it to be. It is still running the LDU firmware and I would like to update it to a new system update (8.0 is available to download). The Samsung Retail Mode software is also still running in the background and you can not fully remove it from this state.
So, any suggestions on bringing the S8+ back to life and what steps I could use at this point to flash the S8 to a stock image?
Thank you for your help!
something new? ... I have it too S8 LDU
Hello there
I bought a Samsung J7 Neo (SM -J701M) on another country than mine (Im from Argentina, device bought on Paraguay). Anyway, I started to look another way to get some space on the internal storage and I remember that android had an option to expand it, using a SD Card. Unfortunately, i realize this option is not allowed on samsungs device, but it works (i read it, because can't do it) if you get root user.
So I looked how to do it and i found a group of files
ODIN v3.12
Magisk v.14.5
twrp v.3.1.1 -j7 neo
Im not sure if I downloaded the right files, but im start the process anyway.
I followed point by point
First I installed TWRP Recovery v3.1.1 (which is supposed to be correct to my model) and then already on twrp rom I installed magisk 14.5 from sd card and did wipe data.
Turned on the phone and I restored all apps from a google backups, and I realized I cant find app "Magisk" on the device, so I decided to reboot the phone and it starts to do a bootloop with this error "kernel rev. check fail, device:2 binary:1"
At this point, I failed every attempt to fix this error
I tried installing the last official firmware that i found (and Im not sure if its the correct one)
J701MUBU3ARC2_J701MUWT3ARC1_UFN
And I got this error
"SW REV. CHECK Fail (BOOTLOADER) Device :5 Binary 3:
I searched on google this kind of error, and I found that I have to downgrade the bootloader. And this is why im here beacause I dont know how to do this, and if its works, i don´t know how to continue the process to root and expand my internal storage. So I really appreciate if someone one could help me with this. I can learn fast and I love to do this things by myself.
Thanks for your time!
Fernando
If you have to downgrade the boot loader, it means the firmware you are flashing is older than the one on your fon.
Go to www.updato.com and look for the he latest J701M firmware.
You can sort the list by date and by region.
And the site is download manager friendly ?
Good luck!
Sent from my SM-J700F using Tapatalk
Thanks for your answer! One more question about the region. Should I download firmware from the country that I bought the phone or firmware from the country that I am?
Look for your country specific firmware first.
Otherwise Samsung usually has regional software - i.e for several countries in a region e.g. Argentina, Paraguay.

Hi There,
Did you have any luck with your Phone? I have the same exact model but I have Android Version 8.1.0, Samsung Experience version 9.5; Android security patch level -Feb 1, 2019; Baseband version: J701MUBS6BSB3 and like you, I love doing things myself, and I can't seem to abide a smartphone that's not rooted.
I'm not exactly a newbie, I've been assisting devs with testing and such on AT&T SGS3 for quite some time. But I can't seem to find a stable method for rooting for this phone, no one seems to be doing any development on it.
I would love to hear your story thus far.
im needing help myself, i have the SM-J701M (J7 NEO), with android pie 9 official, but the binary is 7 (because Argentina Geniuses of course) and of all the things i tried nothing works, and the only thing they did was brick the phone, so i flash and stock firmnware to be usable again

What have you done? I saw your messages on TG but everyone ignores usually, I had another problem and footbed the solution myself as I got ignored for days.
So, what have you done? Maybe we can figure it out a way to root it, but to avoid telling you things that you may have already done it is better if you let us know your already followed steps.

i tried flashing TWRP like a guide said (Latest version) but then got stuck with a boot loop in the Samsung Galaxy Logo, then when i enter to flash the latest global firmware it didn't work because it was binary 6, so i searched for the version in Argentina that has binary 7, after that i didn't try anything else in fears of getting fully bricked, i was thinking of the magisk canary way of rooting (patching the AP) but i don't know what happen if it fails the flash
Hi, i have the same device, SM-J701M, but when i try to flash the stock, it says that the device binary is 9 and the rom is 8, but i cant find the binary 9 rom in any place, only 8. I have the trwp installed, so I was thinking if I format all data (system and files) and try to flash again, it will work ?
Also im from Brazil (SM-J701MT), and the device was buyed in Paraguay (SM-J701M) too. Should i install the SM-J701MT ROM right ?
Some success.

Ok, guys, I've had a bit of progress with my device Samsung Galaxy J 7 Neo (SM-J701M- Android version 8.01)
On this phone, the option to unlock the bootloader was missing in Dev Opt and I knew that in order to achieve anything I was going to have to unlock the bootloader.
I searched and found that, via adb/fastboot (Google's Platform Tools) rebooting the phone to the bootloader you could enter the code: 'fastboot oem unlock' or 'fastboot flashing unlock' and voila! everything would be fixed...But...my device wasn't even being recognized by "fastboot" ! adb yes but no fastboot! Always the message: "Waiting on any device". Trying to find and install the drivers to do this was next to impossible.
It actually caused me soft brick my device. However, it was a blessing in disguise; I knew what had to be done, I was going to have to reinstall the firmware via Odin. I searched the site (Sammobile - you'll have to create an account.) and found the Oreo and the Pie Firmware, I downloaded both but played it safe and restored my device with the Oreo first.
And lo and behold the option to unlock bootloader was there! No hesitation, clicked that sucker fast!!
Now, I'm running PIE (No one has done a Custom ROM for this baby just yet) and with the unofficial TWRP in the first link below, it's a bit buggy but until they make an official one for us ... I guess we'll have to wait.
Oh! And don't forget to make a backup with Smart Switch!
And pay attention to the advice here:
Code:
1. Extract the firmware file you just downloaded. You should get 5 files:
AP (System &Recovery)
BL (Bootloader)
CP (Modem / Radio)
CSC_*** (Country / Region / Operator)
HOME_CSC_*** (Country / Region / Operator)
2. Add each file to its respective field in Odin v3.14.4. Use CSC_*** if you want to do a clean flash or HOME_CSC_*** if you want to keep your apps and data.
3. Reboot your phone in Download / Odin mode (make sure your device is off) with the following button combo: POWER + VOLUME DOWN + BIXBY
Other options in case first option did not work or isn't possible.
Option 2 VOLUME DOWN + VOLUME UP then USB cable
Option 3 POWER + VOLUME DOWN + VOLUME UP
Option 4 POWER + VOLUME DOWN + HOME BUTTON
Option 5 (Note9) USB cable + VOLUME DOWN + BIXBY
Option 6 (Note10) POWER + VOLUME UP
4. Once in download mode, connect your phone to the PC, preferably using the original USB cable you got with your phone. Odin should detect your device and a BLUE box will show up with the COM port number. (Be sure, the SAMSUNG-drivers are installed on your PC!)
Do NOT tick any extra boxes. The only options to be ticked are F.Reset Time and Auto-Reboot.
5. Click the start button, wait for Odin to say 'PASS' in a GREEN box. Once the flash is complete, your phone will reboot, and you can disconnect your phone from the PC

I think that's because you have to be specific with the carrier; Orange; Nextel; Movistar...that makes a lot of difference in with the firmware. If you can, check to see what you had before and try that first.

Hey, I noticed we have the same android version and and phone model, I wanted to know which version of Twrp you used . I am guessing version 3.1.1?
It's an Un-official version of TWRP, so the version #( 3.2.1-0) may not count, you can check the links out to get more information.
hola tengo un problema, tengo un sm-j701m binario 11 android 9 y quiero intalarle un twrp pero no se cual descargar y que funcione
Don't know if anyone's still following this thread or even still has this phone but there's been quite some progress with this device. (i.e: SM-J701M) The posts below will certainly help to bring your device up to date re: rooting; flashing etc.

Hi all,
I'm having a nightmare of a time with my Galaxy S7... For some unknown reason I decided to root my phone about 2 months ago using CF Auto Root.. worked great.. This morning, was having bad lag issues, so I restarted the phone.. as soon as the Samsung logo came up, I got a red message at the top of the screen saying "Custom Binary locked by FRP".. kind of freaked out and booted the phone into Recovery mode.. wiped Cache and wiped phone (to go back to factory setting I guess).. restarted... since then, I had no boot.. it did loop for a while as I was trying to charge the phone.. but that's it.
Now, the only way the phone will power on is if I plug it into my computer in Download Mode. I am trying to flash the ROM, custom or stock, but Odin fails almost as soon as it starts the sboot.bin and the phone screen shows "SW REV. CHECK FAIL (BOOTLOADER) DEVICE: 6, BINARY: 1".. Also, When I try to power on the phone, it HAS to be plugged in to my computer or charger cable and it just loops with a message at the top of the screen.
I can't do anything with this phone and cant find any solutions online... please help! :crying:
PM me for images of all screens please
I had the some problem while playing with my handset I switched off OEM unlock for some reason under developer option..
Next time i reset my handset it stuck on that warning
You need to download combination file, flash it with odin, then unlock developer mode, toggle OEM unlock, than flash back your current firmware, or if you have full twrp back up restore it

This problem appears on the forum over and over. Its a direct result of not understanding what type of S7 you have and what you need to do before modification.
The error you have in Odin means the firmware you are trying to flash is older than the bootloader file on your device. You can never downgrade a bootloader only upgrade.
In your case you need to flash a firmware version 6 or above for your device. So if you have a branded T Mobile for example you will need to download and flash T Mobile firmware version 6 or above. The firmware must also be for your region where you live.
The FRP lock is because you didn't sign out of, or remove the Google account on the device before modification. Its a security feature. It will still appear after you've flashed firmware but as long as you know the email and password the phone will start fine.

Dammit.. I tried to put as much detail as possible in there lol.. obviously I forgot some.. My mistake the Galaxy s7 that I am using is a Rogers Mobile (Canada) SM-G930W8. As for not signing out before modification, omfg, that makes perfect sense.. didn't even think of doing that before rooting.. I appreciate the help!! I will give this a go and see what outcome I get.. Thanks!
[/COLOR]That was nice of you to respond so helpfully, despite you having seen the scenario posted over and over.

The S7 didn't receive Android 9 so the ROM is a custom one. Any issues with custom ROM's should be asked on the ROM thread itself where you got the ROM from. It's quite normal for custom ROM'S to have bugs.
You can try flashing the ROM (Android 9 Pie) again to see if it works. If not there are several different A9 ROM's to choose from.
