[Q] Multilanguage on Samsung Galaxy Chat QWERTY keyboard... - Android General

Hi, for a certain need, I am looking into buying a Samsung Galaxy Chat B5330, Android candybar QWERTY phone (secondhand of course). This phone has Android 4.0.4.
My question is, I need the phone to work bilingually English / Hebrew, i.e. I don't mind all the interface in English but I do need to be able to type content in Hebrew (into SMS, web browsers, calendar etc). The secondhand phone I found is a generic American phone, i.e. not bought in Israel so its not localized out of the box. I am guessing that on Android OS 4 I can simply add Hebrew as an input language, right? which would work for the virtual touch keyboard. But can I assume that this will also work with the physical QWERTY keyboard - i.e. Would this work? i.e. would the stock Android 4.0.4 know inherently how to map the Hebrew physical keyboard or does this require some custom ROM tailored by Samsung Israel? thanks

HTC Diamond ordering / Language

Hello all, and thank you very much for this very instructive forum.
I plan to buy a new mobile phone and am quite tempted by the new HTC Touch Diamond.
I've found several offers, but they do not each propose the exact same version of the phone. I've found (at least) 4 different versions : "UK", "NL", (on CloolBlue) "EU, English", "French" (on Expansys). Since the price and/or the delivery date differ, I'd like to know what are the other differences between these versions.
As their naming indicates it relates to the language (and maybe the country), but will the phone be different? As far as I can imagine, the difference might be:
- with the manuals (paper)
- hardware: ?
- software: the menu of the system
- software: the software keyboards (accented letters?!)
- software: the dictionaries (T9...)
- other?
Could anybody with experience of HTC products explain what are their habits in this area?
On another hand, as far as the differences are only software, in which extend is it possible to change it after (menus, keyboards, dictionnaries...)?
Thank you in advance.
one that is quad band would be nice.....
In my experience, only the software will differ. I mean the used language in standard apps and settings, menu's and dialogs. Things as T9 dictonaries will be almost certain available in many languages.

OK, no problem for me having menus and dialogs in another language (I even prefer having them in English). But I'm more concerned by the SIP and the T9, since I'll type a lot of messages in French. Let's assume T9 are available in several languages. What about the SIP, does it support all languages (especially as far as the special characters (accented letters...) are concerned)?
And, if not, my next question is: How easy is it to change the SIP? (I mean replacing the native (Diamond) English keyboard by a native (Diamond) French keyboard.)
Since I'm completely new to HTC/WM, I don't even know if (and how) it's feasible.

Just download google pinyin from android market...search the market with keyword google pinyin
I too have been searching everywhere for a Handwriting input method like the Acer one, that (a) works with 2.1, and (b) does not affect the volume up/down buttons. Finally today I came across 國筆輸入法 v0.1.11 台灣繁中版 which works perfectly on my EVO (running cm6) and also on my EPIC. Check it out here: http://forum.palmislife.com/redirect.php?tid=102297 It is my new favorite method of input with English, traditional chines handwriting, pinyin, etc.
Does any one if this will work on the x10? The one that comes in 2.1 throws out my settings everyone I turn the phone off

[Q] About support chinese interface and IM

Hi,
I just bought one Xoom from BestBuy in USA on the end of Feb. when it on stock, and I am using it in Taiwan, as you know that it is English interface, but as you know that Android 3.0 supports chinese language, also I could access chinese web site thru my Xoom, so my question is, could I add chinese input method to my Xoom? Is there any files that can enable my Xoom to chinese interface?
Thanks,
Jacky

[Q] External bluetooth keyboard has English layout. How to change it to German?

Hi,
This weekend I bought a HTC Flyer and I'm so happy. There is one thing though that's killing me...
I also bought a Bluetooth keyboard so I can write faster when I write large texts etc. The thing is though that I can't change the keyboard layout to German (even if the Keyboard has a physical layout of German, the software keyboard layout is still English).
I can't find anything under the "Languages and Keyboard" settings so I'm currently a bit desperate.
How can I get my German configured android system to understand to use a "Germany layout keyboard" and not a "English layout"?
I really hope that someone can support me here...
Thanks
Hirrsson
PS: Please consider that I'm really a android newbie so I don't understand all the terms etc yet....
hello there to everyone
as this is my first post on this forum, i'd like to take this line to thank all of you whom share information, knowledge, and whatnot to all others: Thank You.
posting here to request the same informtion: pairing an external bluetooth keyboard forces said keyboard to be in english layout, whatever the keyboard. (in my case: french).
In locale the bluetooth keyboard does appears, offering Three settings, but none regarding layout.
I personaly see this as a feature that is lacking due to the fact that the os is intended to be primarily used via touchscreen keyboard; but i also think this feature is needed big time. now heading to official android feature request to see if it has been added to newer versions (am runing 2.3) and if not, request it.
I did this for my Stowaway Keyboard. It is a lot of work, you need root on your device, rootexplorer and Hexeditor.
I can guide you through if you wish.
Which phone? Which keyboard? What has to be changed? öäü? y-z ???

Samsung IME - alternative symbols for non US languages

I've Note 8010 bought in Germany with latest firmware installed from factory. Played with it for a week using stock, set-up for work several languages (including mother language - Polish). For the first time I was impressed by stock keyboard so much that I've ditched SwiftKey for it.
As recognized flashoholic I gave up after a week and rooted device and flashed one of the custom ROMs. Been using it for a while, that time mostly reading book and making sketches.
Yesterday I wanted to write few messages in Polish and discovered that I've no alternative symbols (like @, (), " etc.) available after long key press, only diacritical signs (Polish, German, Swedish). When I change to English or German - alternative symbols are back but no access to diacriticals.
Could you please check also your keyboards against such behavior and when it is correct let me know which ROM you are using?
