Just download google pinyin from android market...search the market with keyword google pinyin

I too have been searching everywhere for a Handwriting input method like the Acer one, that (a) works with 2.1, and (b) does not affect the volume up/down buttons. Finally today I came across 國筆輸入法 v0.1.11 台灣繁中版 which works perfectly on my EVO (running cm6) and also on my EPIC. Check it out here: http://forum.palmislife.com/redirect.php?tid=102297 It is my new favorite method of input with English, traditional chines handwriting, pinyin, etc.

Does any one if this will work on the x10? The one that comes in 2.1 throws out my settings everyone I turn the phone off

Simple Chinese,Tradition Chinese,Japanese,Korean Support with Microsoft YaHei Font

If you are using English ROM, but want to support Simple Chinese,Tradition Chinese,Japanese,Korean
just install it:http://www.wpxap.com/thread-5168-1-1.html
http://www.wpxap.com/thread-5168-1-1.html
downloaded, installed on my old ipaq hw6965 that i'm giving to my brother and it works perfectly! thanks!!!
I'm not that good with simplified chinese.
Basically I went to that website and I'm having trouble understanding how the program works.
Does it just read? or will I be able to type in Chinese as well?
And what is the method for typing Chinese? Will I be able to use pingyin format to type Chinese (I'm not savvy on chajei, or any other formats)?
What is the difference between this and CE-Star??
This is just the font to display (but not input!) asian characters. If you only need specific languages you can install other specific fonts.
For input, you need to install an IME (input method editor). For Chinese, CE Star is a good start which has handwriting support. But there are lots of IMEs (with pinyin, etc); a little searching on the forum should turn up plenty of results.

[Updated 15/4/2010][Samsung-i600] Russian input [problem partially solved but still.]

Hey everyone. I've got a Samsung I600 but its USB port seems not working now...
The ROM is WM6.1 OS and preinstalled with a Chinese input software (But not T9, I don't see any T9 in this ROM..)
THE THING IS, that I need to type in Russian alphabets, so is there any kind of input software for QWERTY keyboard to type in Russian alphabets?
I searched for the forum but only found Russian input softwares for touch-screen devices. Such as Resco or FingerKey etc. etc.
If necessary, I'd rather delete the original Chinese input software for the privilege of typing in Russian....
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
=================================
Update a bit,
I renamed the folder of Chinese IME and successfully blocked it (It's in some way just like a cockroach for me...). And I installed the T9 Russian input to my i600 device successfully.
tinyurl.[com]/ybvsq8a
But the question is, that the T9 that I installed is for Numpad phones, i.e. the keyboard layout is completely out of control! And to type in Russian I can only use num keys instead of qwerty-йцукен keyboard.
I wanna solve the problem cos it also affects my English input. that is to say, if I switch to ABC mode, Q=Q,W=W, but T=а\б\в, U=г\д\е etc. etc.
I checked the document below but was baffled, cos it's for German and the keyboard is completely different, I can't find where to put Б and Ю on my i600 keyboard...
tinyurl.[com]/y4kux3l
SO...I STILL NEED HELP..
Maybe a specially designed T9 for qwerty keyboard will work or, I want to know how to redefine i600's keyboard layout.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

But I've got no T9 in my ROM.... so this won't work.
I'm just wondering if there is any kind of software, for example that creates a virtual keyboard for Cyrillic alphabets or something like that...?
BTW How to say 'Input software' in Russian? I looked for it in the dic but no clues...

[Q] About support chinese interface and IM

Hi,
I just bought one Xoom from BestBuy in USA on the end of Feb. when it on stock, and I am using it in Taiwan, as you know that it is English interface, but as you know that Android 3.0 supports chinese language, also I could access chinese web site thru my Xoom, so my question is, could I add chinese input method to my Xoom? Is there any files that can enable my Xoom to chinese interface?
Thanks,
Jacky

[Q] External bluetooth keyboard has English layout. How to change it to German?

Hi,
This weekend I bought a HTC Flyer and I'm so happy. There is one thing though that's killing me...
I also bought a Bluetooth keyboard so I can write faster when I write large texts etc. The thing is though that I can't change the keyboard layout to German (even if the Keyboard has a physical layout of German, the software keyboard layout is still English).
I can't find anything under the "Languages and Keyboard" settings so I'm currently a bit desperate.
How can I get my German configured android system to understand to use a "Germany layout keyboard" and not a "English layout"?
I really hope that someone can support me here...
Thanks
Hirrsson
PS: Please consider that I'm really a android newbie so I don't understand all the terms etc yet....
hello there to everyone
as this is my first post on this forum, i'd like to take this line to thank all of you whom share information, knowledge, and whatnot to all others: Thank You.
posting here to request the same informtion: pairing an external bluetooth keyboard forces said keyboard to be in english layout, whatever the keyboard. (in my case: french).
In locale the bluetooth keyboard does appears, offering Three settings, but none regarding layout.
I personaly see this as a feature that is lacking due to the fact that the os is intended to be primarily used via touchscreen keyboard; but i also think this feature is needed big time. now heading to official android feature request to see if it has been added to newer versions (am runing 2.3) and if not, request it.
I did this for my Stowaway Keyboard. It is a lot of work, you need root on your device, rootexplorer and Hexeditor.
I can guide you through if you wish.
Which phone? Which keyboard? What has to be changed? öäü? y-z ???

[Q] Can the Galaxy Note 10.1 recognize kana?

I don't know if this is an original question, I just joined the site, and reading through this forum convinced me that this is the tablet I am looking for.
I just began studying Japanese this quarter, and I would love to be able to augment my studying with the Galaxy Note 10.1.
Obviously this device does not only ship to the US, so I am sure it recognize other language input. Practicing writing sentences will of course not be a problem. What I want to know is if the device will recognize the kana and print it to the screen. I feel that it can be a great practice tool for perfecting my writing if the software can identify it.
Is it as simple as changing the keyboard language? Will I need to root my device?
I'm studying Japanese as well, but I don't see the option to input kana. The only East Asian input languages I could download for the keyboard was Korean and Chinese. There's no download for Japanese language. It's so disappointing! I have the US Wi-Fi version of the Note 10.1 (N8013), though. The international version might have Japanese input but I don't know for sure.
You could always try using a 3rd party keyboard from the Play Store, however, they may not have handwriting recognition. So I'd parse through the app store before you go out and buy one.
If you're using a language from the default list in the settings menu (there's not too many in the list), there is no need to root. All you have to do is download the font from the Settings menu.
I hope I didn't confuse you or anything...
EDIT:
I did a quick Google search and someone had recommended downloading MultiLing Keyboard + the Japanese plug-in + the HanWriting system to get Japanese handwriting input OR you can purchase an app called 7notes with mazec (Japanese). MultiLing is free and 7notes costs $10.47 (there is a trial version but that's Japanese only). I would post links but I can't since I'm a newbie. D:
I'm gonna test out the MultiLing one first, then the 7notes trial since the latter is quite expensive.
Yes, you can write and read japanese in almost any app, even you can set japanese as the main language if you want. (all the menus and options will appear in japanese).
The default keyboard (samsung keyboard) doesn't have japanese as writing language, but no problem, just use any third party keyboard with japanese support, I use (and recommend) Multiling Keyboard (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.klye.ime.latin), it has plugins for japanese and handwriting (works very well with the spen)
And there are good learning apps for writing in japanese, like Hiragana Learning Experiment (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.legendarya.helloandroid) that can help you to improve your writing skills.
No root is required at all.
Thank you for the replies. This is perfect.
I use 7 notes with mazec (Japanese) - it is some notes application that I don't use, but it also installs a japanese keyboard with handwriting recognition for kana and kanji (and also romanji and numbers). Looks like samsung handwriting keyboard and works very well. Well worth its price (and there is free version to try):
7notes with mazec in play store
Is there any "keyboard" that will recognize input of handwritten kanji directly?
Japanese keyboards that I found all depend on kana input.

yep, have you tried Multiling Keyboard that I mentioned above?
No, but I did download the trial version of 7Notes with mazec and that seems ok for input of words and phrases but it still has ways to go before it handles sentences our word combinations. Also perhaps a little on the expensive side. I will use this for a week to see how I get along with it and the I'll try the Multiling keyboard, it just sounds like it requires downloading a lot of language specific files.
The Samsung keyboard on their Note series has good handwriting recognition and I noticed I could download Japanese as one of the supported languages. I did just that but I couldn't get it to recognize any kind of Japanese input.
