[Q] Location quick settings toggle turns GPS back on - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have selected "wifi and mobile network" as the location method. When I turn off location via the quicksettings and then turn them back on, the location method changes to "GPS, wifi, and mobile networks". Is that normal? Is there any way to get a gps toggle?
Thanks

Can I turn off GPRS only?

I noticed that if wifi is not available, Polaris connects to GPRS automatically. I want to use only wifi for internet connection, and would like to turn off GPRS leaving wifi working, because GPRS is very costly. Can anyone help?
try this app.
This application can turn off GPRS only if it is already active, I want GPRS/3G to be turned off permanently.
i'm not getting what you mean. U have installed GPRS/EDGE.... settings. If U run this app u see all your connections as ENABLED. U need to select each one and after press TOGGLE button (ENABLED changes to DISABLED). So afterwards device is not able 2 connect thru GPRS/Edge... If u need it from time to time just start app and pres toggle again to enable
settings->connection->connections->advanced->select network
pick the item in the dropdownbox for auto connect network which is not my isp
Easy. After you set up your wifi connection, go to your Comm Manager and switch off Data Connection. Wifi has to be on. If you switch it off, Data Con will come back on.
Basically have your wifi permanently on and all your apps would use that instead of 3G/GPRS.
Edit: Sorry missed the auto connect when 'no network available' point. What Rudegar said is sound.
Is there any known consequences of wifi permanently on?

You mean other than the wifi draining your battery, and as you go around the city always bugging you whith "new network found" dialogs, and having to connect to an unprotected AP every time you want something from the net?

One option: Menu.... Settings... Wireless and networks... Mobile networks... and uncheck "Use Packet Data". This will shut off your data connection. Also, take a look at JuiceDefender Ultimate in the Market.... tons os settings to control WiFi and data automatically.

Thanks but in fact it's not my data connection I want to shut off, it's my voice connection. Where I work I have no signal but they have a good wifi, I use Groove IP to receive and make call with google voice.
I want to be in airplane WITH wifi just to keep my battery

Fix: no calls/delay text/notifications on wifi

Hi,
If you were like me, you were frustrated when you switched to CM12 and didn't receive any notifications/text/calls while on WiFi. This was a huge deal breaker for me. I do more on messages/emails/notifications than phone calls, so I was extremely upset not to receive texts in real time!
1) You shut off wifi and all of a sudden you'd receive a flood of messages.
2) You tried flashing all the modems and nightlies to get updated firmware and modems
3) You gave up and just went back to Kitkat.
Now there is a FIX!
And it has nothing to do with flashing any zips or changing firmware/modems!
It's all about the "Preferred network type"
1) You can find this in "Mobile network settings" change from 2G/3G/LTE to 2G/3G when on wifi and change it back when you are off wifi. Now doing this manually can be a pain in the ***, this is why we have the second option of automatically doing it with:
2) "Profiles"
Create 2 profiles (e.g. Home & Default)
Be connected to your wifi.
Setup Home (my own home wifi) "Triggers which will activate this profile" and click on "Wi-Fi" and then click on your network name and have it "on connect", hit back.
Scroll down to "Wireless & networks" and change "Preferred network type" to 2G/3G.
Done with First profile
Setup Default (when off of wifi's) "triggers which will activate this profile" and click on "Wi-Fi" and click on the network name you're currently connected to, and have it "on disconnect, hit back.
Scroll down to "Wireless & networks" and change "Preferred network type" to 2G/3G/LTE.
Summary: This will switch your profile when connected to wifi to use 2G/3G only, as you have your wifi to use the internet. This will allow calls/texts/notifications to go through 2G/3G. When you're off of wifi, it'll switch to the Default profile which uses LTE.
What I do:
1) My Default profile has multiple disconnections, my home wifi, work wifi, bluetooth to the car when disconnected will switch my profile to Default.
2) I have a Work Profile, Home Profile, Car Profile which on wifi/bluetooth connect, will change into their profiles. Work and Home are connected to wifi, so I changed the "Preferred network type" to 2G/3G. Car and Default profiles will change "Preferred network type to" 2G/3G/LTE.
Hope this helps you guys with the no text/calls/notification issues while on wifi!
Probably not intended by CM, a little fix around for now until they solve this one with some coding.
If it works, please thank! =)

Another solution that is more permanent is to flash the modem from CM 11s and the Proximity sensor fix. I also had this issue and have not had it since.
Enjoy!

Location services does not work if battery saver is selected

This is a weird issue, if you select battery saver as the method for location services it will not work unless you have wifi on or scanning on. Battery saver users WiFi and mobile networks to determine location. On my other phones I didn't need wifi on as it would user my mobile data to give my location. Not looking for an accurate location just something close so I can receive weather alerts or traffic reports
Sorry that I am not clear what you mean "select battery saver as the method for location services". My location service works fine even if I have disabled WLAN when I have a walk every evening.

Wi-Fi always activated, even in standby

Hi,
I just got a Honor view 10 and I have a problem that I can't solve even after a complete reset
My Wi-Fi is still active even when the phone is in standby
I see it in the stats of the battery and I constantly receive notifications while I'm not in 4G
Of course I change the option "Wi-Fi active standby" to NEVER in the Wi-Fi settings and "Search Wi-Fi" to OFF in the location settings
I think it's due to a service or an application that keeps the wifi enabled but I can't find which one..

* This screenshot is not mine but I exactly have the same result about Wi-Fi
Thanks,
