Randomly I find messages about various apps crashing on my z3, always in the same order. First it's com.android.phone then it's some "enterprise service ", then com.qualcomm.qcrilmsgtunnel, then it's com.sonymobile.touchscreen.touchfilter.tfpss, and sometimes another one that I don't remember right now. After a few minutes com.phone crashes again and then all the others in the same order. It's really angering me and I have no idea what's causing it. Phone works normally but the messages about these apps crashing keep coming until I reboot.
It happened back on Kitkat and it happens on lollipop even after I factory reseted the phone.
Am I the only unlucky sob who gets this issue? Any idea why it's happening and how to stop it?
Very rarely I also get what looks like a reboot, but the phone doesn't actually reboots because it doesn't ask me for my pin code but it plays the boot animation and goes back to screen unlock after a while. Because of these issues I'm extremely disappointed right now with this phone. Random apps glitching out for no reason really grind my gears.
Is your phones software altered in anyway? Anyway, Repair it with sony pc companion.
Nope, fully stock not even rooted. By the way, like I said I already repaired after the llollipop update and it still happened. It's unacceptable that I have to waste my time reconfiguring all my stuff and losing data all over the place (without root is impossible to make a decent backup) because the phone is unable to remain stable for longer than a month.

I know, I had all my previous android phones all rooted, but I don't want to root this one yet. I suspect there was something wrong with the theme I was using that was causing the issue. I've been using the phone on another theme and the problem seems to have disappeared. Can't be sure though. Can someone try the theme called "experianz black" for a few days and see if you get crashes?
Actually I just noticed something. If you add a new user, then delete it, all of the processes started on that other user will keep running forever wasting ram. They will not close. And guess which processes are left running on a non existent user? The ones that keep crashing. I think I just discovered a major bug with this worthless multi user mode. As you can see from my screenshot the non existent user's apps kept running for nearly 80 hours after I deleted it. You can try to add a user, switching to it and then back to your main ones, then deleting it and all the apps will remain stuck in memory.

I've been on Humble 1.42 for about a month now (please don't look down on me, haven't had time to switch since the drama) and I am starting to have some issues with my phone not waking. At random moments, my screen would refuse to turn on no matter what I do. It does, however, respond to me holding down the power button for a forced power off (hard reset?) Anyhow, has anyone else experienced this at all? I had a feeling it was my xfinity mobile app because I had been getting a lot of errors from it lately even though I rarely ever use it. Should I just switch to another rom or is there any other apps known to cause issues with this rom that I should be aware of?
On a side note, I have been on this forum and obsessed with android for the past year and been doing some serious thinking about making a career change into Android development. Been doing some java tutorials on youtube over the last few months and the such and think I'm about ready to start some real android app development. I credit some of the great developers on this site and the awesome experience at Dreamforce this week as the tipping point. Any ideas on additional resources I should look into?
There are a few things that could be causing this problem(that I'm aware of)
1) You may have sideloaded a "virus" app. I attempted to sideload an app once(will never do it again after what happened..) and it completely BROKE my phone. It made apps unable to isntall, the screen would take FOREVER to wake(if it ever did wake) and plenty of other problems. I tried rebooting and got stuck in a bootloop(boot animation would never end), did a factory reset and everything force closed on me so I was forced to flash the .md5/.pit to go back to bare stock and that finally fixed it.
2) Have you flashed Fuju Tweaks? This exact same thing happened when I flashed it on Gummy2.0, worked fine on Eclipse1.3.1 and even works for a lot of people on Gummy2.0 but it wouldn't work for me.
3) Try reflashing your ROM, that's how I fixed the Fuju Tweaks problem. It might fix whatever plagued your phone.
Just let me know of anything you've done recently and I'll try and diagnose the problem(if I didn't already).
Uh-Oh, a virus maybe? Yeah, I will just reflash later on, and change some passwords while I am at it.
I don't think it was that kind of virus but it definitely screwed up my phone.
i have a samsung galaxy s captivate i897
i bought it Feb 2012 rooted running cyanogen mod and miui. for the 9months i ownded it it worked perfectly. then al of a sudden it started crashing randomly. most apps force closing. i also get an error messoage coming up that says "device low on disk space, please free up some disk space" - this is the message i see a few days before the apps start to force close. it seems to be a gradual process - isee that message then apps start force closing. for about a week its still useable until the force closing becomes constant and i basically cant use my phone.
when it happened the first time i took it to the local phone repair shop who fixed it but a few months later the problem reoccurred. now it's got the the point where it happens every 2-3 months i take it get it fixed phone works fine for a while then the problem starts all over again. i cant seem to work out what's causing it - doesnt seemed to be linked to installing new apps or anything. also the error message about not having enough disk space i'm not sure what it means but i know that i have 16gb of starage split into internal:1.85gb (1.58available) and external 13.03gb (11.77available) so yeah plenty of space hence i'm not sure why its saying its low.
anyway whenever i get my phone back from the repair shop its wiped everything and i've always just thought that whatever they did (software stuff - to stablise the rom or sth) returned it to facotry settings BUT i'm starting to think they dont actually do anything but factory reset it :/
i'm not up to scratch on custom roms/rooting/flashing stuff like i said my phone was already rooted when it and i dont want to start messing about with it.
i want to know whats causing the problem and how i can stop it reoccuring ?
also i was wondering is it possilbe to wipe out the rooting completely? perhaps not return to stock standard but maybe just use a different or more stable rom.
ps - sorry if any of the terminology is incorrect i hope you can still understand what i'm trying to say.
any help is appreciated.

so!!!
you are saying that that root is causing all these??
thats nt the point.even with root gone I don't think you'll get rid of it. anyway to root simply install SuperSU
and unroot fully.
.
.
and about returning to stock
try smthing based on stock!!!
well no i didnt say it is because its rooted that is causing this i was was asking what is causing it?
like i said the phone worked perfectly for the first 9months i had it and has always been rooted.
and like i said i dont know how to do any tech stuff so "simply unroot fully" doesnt help my much.
Just backup, wipe, and reflash a new rom.
"just" thats the point i dont feel confident enough to do any of that.
not just that i dont feel confident - that i dont know HOW to do it!!
what do you think is causing the problem?
like i said the phone worked fine for the first 9months i had it (not sure how long it had been rooted before that) so why would it suddenly become unstable? i've never did any tech stuff myself and even something simple like perhaps a certain app or sth is interfering (not sure if that's possible/likely) but i cant seem to identify.
like i said all i get is "device low on disk space" despite the fact its not - i guess if i could figure out why it says that and how to fix that problem which seems to then lead to all my apps force closing.
Hey everyone, I've had my eye since release and just haven't rooted it and now I took the update to 5.0.1 and my Edge is all messed up. I click on a notification such as a file I downloaded and it takes about 5 minutes before it opens. Our text messages and any other messages, i.e. Facebook, don't come through for about 30min. Amongst many other issues.
My question is, can I root with cf-autoroot even with the fact that I did the update? I've got a Sprint edge. I'd like to try and use titanium to backup and then do a clean wipe and start fresh. I think it was a bad upgrade.
Hopefully someone knows the answer.

Do you not use Google/Samsung backup? I'm just saying that you could do a clean wipe and the Google/Samsung backup would restore you back to whatever you have set up now?
I'm not opposed to you rooting, I do it as well but haven't yet rooted the replacement phone I just got because of a broken screen.
It was interesting that when I activated this phone that ALL of EVERYTHING I had on the previous phone (which I had Nandroid BU, TI backup, and directory BU to my PC) was automatically reinstalled on the replacement phone.
A bit of setup of NOVA Launcher and a few other minor things and I was back up and running (just without root). It DID take quite a while for the many many many apps I have to reinstall through the backup, but it was automatic.
Just wanted to give you an alternative. In fact, I'd probably want to get a good install BEFORE I rooted. I don't know (think) that rooting and resetting will necessarily fix a bad install.

Thanks for the idea. Honestly, I've never noticed the google backup actually work. Any time I've gotten a new phone, I've usually gone off a TB backup so it's hard to trust that it's going to work. I had also wondered if I could root, then do the full wipe on cache and all and then flash a rom of choice.
I've just been away from xda for a while and not totally up on what's going on lately, what's able to be done, if there's any particulars to keep an eye out for, etc...
All I know is I'm going though a few batteries a day, notifications come at least 30 minutes late on all apps, and the phone is about to take a swim in the pool.
I've been transferring all files off the device and sd to my laptop just to be safe but I'm having some issues with that as well, lol. errors pop up about file names too long and crap or it disconnects in the middle of transferring. I'm having to use a usb drive adapter to put them on a drive first and then onto the pc. Slow going.
Thanks again
Dont know about sprint, but what you are getting is very unusual at least for unlocked. Might have no option but a fresh stock flash.
Yea, I actually 5 seconds from clicking the button. Just finished getting everything backed up that I think I could. I'd like to root after the restore. Does anyone out there know if you can root the Sprint Edge on 5.0.1 using cf?

Hi, I have a samsung galaxy tab s2 the 9.7 inches one, but lately some apps have been crashing or having errors, chrome for example throws that snap somethjng wrong, perfect viewer sometimes gets stuck on an image and I cant chnge it, but all menus work, several apps keep crashing as well.
I have it with official firmware, never touched it, its rooted with magisk since before the problems started, apps that use root are file explorer, vanced manger and an app to disable some samsung bloatware.
I dont know how to troubleshoot android, on pc I would check memory and hdds, but theres nothing lkke that kn android that I could find.
I think it could be memory or storage, but everything Ive downloaded or copied/moved hasnt have any problems or errors. Or something is corrupted in the system, or I dont know what else or how to check.
What would you recommend to fix it? Hopefully starting with less drastic, as in less data loss, factory reset, flashing an original rom or somethjng.
The device is aSamsung galaxy tab s2 9.7 with android 7 with lean launcher.
All help is appreciated.
I believe this were an common issue for Android 7 and below !
and you have an old device and android which I believe it's no longer supported by the most of developers.
try to flash any custome roms & kernels if available.
If apps are randomly crashing then the reason might be it's caused by an update of Google's tool called Android System WebView.

Try using the stock launcher.
See what apks are running and cached right when this happens is it may give you a clue.
I would completely backup all critical data now.
Android is normally very stable.
Scan with Malwarebytes. If you can't find the root cause, suspect a virus, rootkit etc.
This is rare but can happen.
Karma Firewall can help you to see what's accessing what and how often. It uses almost no battery or resources, freeware, adfree, a near perfect little app.
Cant remove lean launcher it gets stuck in android is starting and it doesnt let me change to stock, installed nova just to check if it was lean and still the same problems.
Installed malwarebytes, had to run the scan several times cause it kept crashing, it completed and it didnt find anything.
Installed karma firewall and will see if I find anything.
Thanks

Figure out how to get the stock launcher back.
Any 3rd party app you can't uninstall is already malware. Check Device Administrators to see if it's registered there. Nova is no saint either.
If you can't resolve it error on the side of caution that it is malware and nuke it. Sometimes you never find out which one it was... getting rid of it is all that matters.
Sorry, what I meant was that after uninstalling it it got stuck in androiid is starting, somehow I lost the stock launcher, so it got stuck with no launcher. Found the launcher that came stock, installed it and uninstalled the other 2.
Apps are still crashing, I deleted all apps that I dont really use.

Lol, that can crash it for sure.
See if you can find a common apk between the effected apps. Any recent system app updates?
New or uninstalled apps?
A system apk may have gotten corrupted.
Android is pretty good compared to Windows when uninstalling apps but occasionally a poorly designed app will screw it up.
It's just about factory reset time or your equivalent.
If it an old load that's probably best anyway.
I haven't reloaded in almost a year but I'm ready to go at any time.
Takes me about 2 hours to get it back within 99%. All the data I need for a full restore is on my SD card otherwise it would an additional 6-8 hours to restore the SD card data as well.
If you don't have a complete reload plan that saves all your critical data no matter what, implement one now before you get burnt.
Those stories are too common here
Dont remember when it started, cause at first it was one app from a github that was having problems, then yesterday magisk started and when I got that working it all when to hell.
The app that I use most has a backup/restore file that I saved on my sd, what do you use to backup/restore?
I would think that some backup solution could bring the problem back or am I mistaken, like if you fully restore something corrupted it should still be corrupted?
A factory reset could be corrupted as well? I mean after a factory reset, assuming its software, could it still have the same problems?
Though I dont really have any critical data on the tablet its mostly for browsing, youtube and reading comics. Still its a bother to re configure everything xD. IIRC I think its only been factory reset once.
Thanks.
It's unlikely the factory reload image is corrupted.
The current one your using likely is.
Other than apps that allow you to back them up like Poweramp or perhaps bookmarks, most app data I would write off just in case that was connected to the current issues.
None of my database is on internal memory except DCIM and downloads (both I back it up at least monthly). Critical apps like Poweramp are backed up on the SD card as export backup files.
The Poweramp setup would literally take a week to recreate. Most apps you can throw together rather easily.
All the SD card data is then again backed up at least twice to other separate drives.
I will try Samsung Smart Switch to restore home settings and see how it does on the next reset.
If you issues are of unknown origins being conservative about what you allow on the new load could save you more time in the long run.
If you unintentionally import corrupted data you'll end up doing it over again.
Or do so if the reload time isn't that great and is an easy write off for you.
Fun times... especially if the reload doesn't fix it
Did a factory reset and problem solved, took me less time than I thought to get my most used apps ready to go.
Thanks for the help.

Yay! Success!
And a minty fresh OS load.
Load apps and especially updates over time to see if one these were the cause.
Forced reloads are rare but they happen usually caused by a rogue app screwing up boot or a malware infection. Otherwise you can usually track down the root cause which is preferable to avoid it from happening again.
Lazy techs misuse factory reset a lot
Will do that, install apps just as I need them and try not to instal a bunch at once.
I had a problem with an sd card and sent it to samsung, they did just that factory reset it and gave it back with the same problem, and they dont even let you know so you can back your stuff up, just lucky it was fairly new at the time and I had the sd card with me.

Sammy tech support sucks.
I'm using the Lexar .5 tb V30 card, just format in phone and it's good to go. Zero issues for $64.
Been using it for over a year now. Play movies and music from it all the time from it flawlessly.
Been using Lexar flash cards for over 15 years and all cards are still functional. No failures or card related issues at all. I like that brand a lot.
hi everyone! I just wanted to explain my situation here so that maybe someone can help me understand what is happening.
I own the Exynos variant of this phone 12/256.
Being a huge fan of debloating my entire life, i got the phone and after some time, seeing that the battery life won't improve, I started digging.
At first, i have removed MANY apps that are useless, but have never touched system related apps, maybe bixby or smth. Nothing happened. Then the OneUi 5.0 came, beta, installed it, then the stable came, installed it, had a factory reset done to start fresh and i got to debloating again. And for about two weeks everything worked smoothly. Then i was at work one evening and i started seeing my phone acting weird, mobile data going on and off(kinda always on 4g+ at work) so i decided to restart the phone. Clicked restart, put it in my pocket and after 5 mins i felt it warm in my pocket. Checked it and saw it was restarting in a loop and after a few more restarts it said " rescue party/ etc/etc, your phone failed to restart multiple times bla bla". The only way to get it up and running was to delete all apps inside that menu then the phone would boot in safe mode so i could backup my data, then i had to factory reset it again. This happened 3 times, in a 1.5 week period. Last time i debloated, i only uninstalled youtube, youtube music, microsoft onedrive, etc etc. Haven't even touched anything related to a system app, because in that menu it would say some system files are missing or smth like that. This evening I ve got the update with the November security patch, downloaded it, installed it and now it's looping again.
Does anyone know what might be the cause? Because obviously i didnt get rid of any system app this time.
Contact Samsung support. Possibly to be replaced under warranty
Maybe just download a firmware that doesn't have much bloat then see if the issue keeps happening without you debloating. If it doesn't happen anymore and then you start debloating things and it happens, then you know your problem.
More than likely you've de-bloated something you shouldn't have.
Back up all your data (if you're still able to), then factory reset & flash clean stock ROM.
Thereafter, flash a de-bloated custom ROM or do a very careful de-bloat yourself (plenty of guides on XDA).
Everything I've debloated was done side by side to a parallel xda thread for samsung debloating, it's not like it was 100% out of my head. Disabling bixby, microsoft onedrive, samsung free, upday, ar core elements inside and out of the camera, live messages from the s pen doesnt look to me like it should make the phone go bootlooping.
I've flashed the first stable firmware last night after the incident, updated it to the latest november update and I'm keeping an eye on it. If it randomly goes bootlooping and to rescue party, I'm taking it to samsung in my city.

dont root your phone, you might lose your warranty.
i see you flashed the firmware so keep an eye one the phone, debloating shouldnt have to do anything with this issue, a lot of us debload and have not faced this kind of issues.
i did debloat mine, i bought my phone with A12 and it took me 2 days to set it up including the date transfer and debloat, then i received A13 which i installed and kept using it without a reset which i should have done but i was very busy.
I haven't rooted this one, not yet because it's new and I don't need anything root acces can give me at this popoint. Although I have rooted many phones before, including samsung, I've never encountered this before, even though I've seen it was introduced by google in A11 or smth. I dont know.
What variant is your phone? Maybe you can give me a file with what you've debloated so far to compare.
