Hello everyone, I have a friends LG G2 D800, the phone is soft bricked.
Here's the situation:
1 - Won't boot, stuck at LG logo and says "boot certificate error" then goes to an all black screen.
2 - Have access to download mode(here is my problem) (see the picture attached)
3 - No access to recovery. while holding Vol- and power for recovery it goes to a menu asking if i want a factory reset instead of recovery.
So basically, I'm trying to use LGFlashTool but am unable to obtain the proper files needed. Keeps giving me a "crossDL error".
the phones model number is offically the D800 but registers as a D802 in download mode.

issue
I have both the TOT and the DLL downloaded but I'm stuck with "previous load failed()" no matter what I do. Also I've gotten an error stating "cross DL [D802] to [D802]
Would you be able to help me with hex? I know a lot about computers but I'm new to editing hex.

There are should be the log file , in the directory where you have installed the Flash tool, open it with a text editor, and you will see full error text. Maybe it will give you some hints.

Have you tried? It is not hard, it almost the same as editing regular text file. The only thing you see 2 parts, left with codes, and right, where the codes translated to regular characters. Tab is used to move from left to right. Model is a just text, so you can edit it on the right

I changed the hex and played with 2 files. Both a D800 and a D802 ROM and flipped the hex in both. Also using the DLL that skips CRC Bin check. Stuck at previous load failed.
I've tried restarting the computer and re-editing the hex again and again with no luck. ?

what exactly error you have
With hex files edited I get ErrreviousLoadError().
Then I try LGFlashTool with unmodified tot files and get ERR:CrossDL (D802) to SW (D802).
^^^ unmodified meaning I didn't change any hex

Hi everyone, this is a guide that help you to unbrick Micromax Canvas 2 Plus A110Q.
Follow all the steps carefully
1. Download the stock rom v1 from here . Do not download stock rom v2 from anywhere, that rom contain many bugs.
2. Download sp flash tools form here. (tool needed for flashing rom on the device)
3. Download USB drivers from here
Now you need to install the usb preloader drivers you just downlaoded.
To install the drivers:-
1.Extract the USB drivers.rar file.
2.Switch off your phone
3.Open device manager(search for "Device Manager") or click on computer properties , then device manager..
4.Connect your phone in OFF state
5.There will be a device named "mt65xx preloader" which will be there for some seconds.
You need to be quick at this. As soon as it is displayed, right click and click update driver.
Browse manually the files from usb drivers you extracted.
NOTE: THIS METHOD WILL NOT WORK ON WINDOWS 8
Now, if you are using windows 8 do this to install the drivers:
1. Dwonlaod the usb driver.rar file.
2. Hover pointer to Top Right corner of your screen, choose Settings from sidebar
3.Click last option "Change PC Settings"
4.Select "General"
5.Scroll to end and find "Restart Now" under "Advanced Startup". PC Will be in troubleshoot mode now
6.Once screen is back, select option "Troubleshoot"
7.Select "Advanced Options"
8.Select "Startup Settings"
9.Select "Restart"
Now important step. There will be several options to select from. You need to select "Option 7". For this press "7" key from number pad.
After your PC starts, follow above steps.
10. Choose the win 7 file from usb drivers.rar file to install drivers on windows 8 .
Now,
4. Extract ROM and Flash Tool
5. Open Flash_tool.exe from SP_FLASH Tools.
6.Select "Scatter-loading" and select "MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt" from ROM folder
7.Select "Download" option, it will search for phone now.(if does not detect your phone pull the battery out and put it in again.)
8.Switch OFF the phone.
9.Connect it with USB (in OFF state only) (proper divers must be installed as said above)
10.If all goes well you'll see data transfer. At the end there will be Green Circle in middle of screen which means ROM is flashed.(don't panic if there is no green circle just let it work for 10 minutes and unplug your phone from computer.)
11.Remove phone, Switch it ON.
Thanks

I rooted my phone using "Framaroot app" by Boromir exploit and also installed Superuser.
Using ROM Toolbox pro, I changed the system font on my device.
But when I tried to revert to the system font, the phone wont turn on; (I also forgot to take a Nandroid backup)
The phone gets stuck at the boot logo.
I can enter recovery mode, and I also factory reset my phone, wiped cache, etc, but its of no use (first it turns on and then after the boot logo animation, nothing happens....)
Is my phone bricked????
Please help.......

I Never did any rooting/other software updates to my mobile.
The Problem started when a message like "some XYZ process has stopped"
I clicked OK but the message came 1 after the other many times so I though of rebooting mobile.... I gave reboot option and the problem raised and the phone never did start up. I tried factory reset but still the same........A friend suggested me this But i still want to confirm is it harmless to use this and is this the proper technique for my problem ?
Please Help Me....
Hello, I am new on XDA Forums and I have a problem and I am sure that XDA Developers will help me,
Yesterday I rooted my LG G Pro Lite Dual D686 Android 4.4.2 by VRoot then I replaced the Chinese Superuser with English SuperSu, anyway I installed fonts program and while setting a font my phone shutted down suddenly, I trying to reboot, it stucks on the logo screen
some people says its called bootloop or android brick I don't know.. all what I want is fixing my problem at home and not going to anywhere because if my parents knew, it will be the end of my life, I tried to go to recovery mode by holding down volume button and power button and when the logo appears I reset the power button then select and hold it again, it asked me if I want to reset settings, I said yes and reseted my settings but still the problem occurs.
If you have a solution please inform me about it, waiting for your answers.
Have you tried flashing a new stock ROM ?
By kdz of course.

Step 1 : Dowload LG United Drivers >> http://www.mediafire.com/download/8...981MAN38AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.8.1(0)_4.9.8.1.zip
Install it.
Step 2 : Download LG Mobile Support Tool >> https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0nq1tbSSc_gRk5ObE1ucm1SSHM/edit?pli=1
Extract it.
Step 3 : Choose your kdz file to download here >> http://www.lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=38
If you were using v10 baseband choose v10
If v20 choose v20
Choose according to your country or the nearest country.
Note : do not extract the kdz file or it will break the file.
Step 4 : Put your LG G Pro lite into Emergency Mode by switching it off,
After the phone is off then hold the Volume Down or Up ( I dnt rememnber so try only one either Up Or Down. Your screen will be yellow an says emrgency mode ) wait for the drivers to finish loading on your if doing it for the first time.
After that open The Kdz Updater file you extracted in step 2.
Then Run KDZ_FW_UPD as administrator.
See the screenshot below.
If there is error msg at the end forget it.
The program will stop responding its normal wait for it
and if it says close program close it.
Reboot your phone manually.
Else
If their is no error msg your phone will restart normally.
Note : Im not responsible for any damage. Its on your own risk. Just trying to help you.
If you follow these steps properly everything will work fine.
Hope it helped.

I forget to mention in step 4. After turning off the phone remove the battery. The hold volume down key and conect the usb cable in your pc first and then to your phone. Do not release the volume down key until you get emergency mode.
After updrage the pc program will crash and it will dispaly close program dialog.
close it and remove your usb and insert your baterry.
Now your phone should boot up. It will take some time plz be patient.

No LG uses adb and or terminal script. Odin is made for flashing alot of phones at once or a rookies one phone. adb and term is for everything else. learn your code!

I followed that guide (both the original and the one-click version that was posted a few pages in), and neither worked on my LG Risio (from Cricket Wireless). It didn't brick the phone, though. In both cases it just stopped in Download Mode on the phone where it said a new firmware was being installed. The progress stayed at 0% and never moved, and the root script in the command line on my PC just waited indefinitely. The phone was just fine afterwards, like nothing was even changed.
Does anyone know a root method that works for this phone?

I also recently bricked my lg risio. when i turn it on it shows the LG logo and say security error and then shuts down. i tried putting it download mode. My computer detects it but will not allow me access to what is on the phone. I gave up and tried to factory reset it, only to see the same error screen. I rooted and installed mods on my old HTC before, but have since forgotten this lengthy process. Someone please help. Thankyou
I was updating maps and the screen turned off and wouldn't come back on. I figured no big deal, its done this before, phone locks up but if I leave it alone for a couple minutes it'll become responsive again. It didn't work this time.
After I removed and replaced the battery, I was able to turn the phone on and the screen was on but nothing there, no usual tracfone logo or Samsung intro, nothing, finally after a minute I get an error message in red letters “MMC: mmc_read fail, Movinand checksum confirmation fail”.
If that isn't enough, when I try to charge my phone, instead of the normal black background with green charging particles and battery, it shows the same red letter error “MMC: mmc_read fail, Movinand checksum confirmation fail” and I have no idea if it's charging or not, but I suspect it's not because the phone feels cold, not even luke warm after leaving it plugged in for a couple minutes.
This is the first time I've ever had an android phone give me this error message and not boot like normal. I've tried all the different ways of booting while holding buttons down. It'll let me boot into download mode but not recovery mode, I've only learned this from reading the forums, but this is the extent of my android knowledge.
I have important pictures, texts, memos, Internet bookmarks, contacts that I cannot afford to lose or wipe or delete.
Can someone please tell me:
1. Am I going to be able to fix my phone to the way it was before the error, can I recover things to a computer, is it too late, phone has to be wiped factory reset? AND
2. If it can be fixed, what are the proper steps to get it back to the way it was or at least where I can extract what's important?
Keep in mind I have ZERO experience with Odin flashing adb twrp cyogen roms, it's all new to me.
As a side note, I would love to root my phone and be given instructions describing what's the best Odin rom cwm adb twrp, but that's secondary, I'm just mentioning that in case it can be thrown into the steps I have to take to fix my primary concern, which is to get my phone back to the way it was before this boot error happened.
who's pooch do you have to screw to get an answer on here?

No joe2k01, I don't even know how to use those kinds of tools, my phone is stock, I need to get it back to the way it was before the error occurred.
I don't want to post anymore funny dialogue in what seems to be a futile attempt at gathering attention to this thread
I SERIOUSLY need help and I can't afford to be banned from these forums. . .
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP !!
Jo

disregard my previous message it was an error.
So I searched a bit on internet and I founded a method for restore your phone, but the method erase all the data in the phone .
For restore your phone fist of all you need to know your product number and your imei. For read your imei unplug the battery. Now go on PC and install kies (search on google kies download an open the samsung site), after that you need to turn on your device in download mode, on the left top of the screen you can read the product number. Connect your phone to the PC and launch kies , if it says that your device isn't compatible ignore the message and press ok, then go to tools<Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation, and type your product number and your imei, now just follow the wizard.
If I helped you leave a thanks :good:

Hey jo,
I just read your suggestion. I Googled kies to see if it is compatible with my phone, it looks like my phone should work but is there a way to transfer everything to my pc first?
Yes Kies is a toolbox developed by Samsung so I know that there is the option for the backup, but I don't know if the backup tool work with your error

UPDATE: jo's help may or may not have worked but after spending countless days trying to figure this out, I now see the immediate problem: No matter which computer/USB port/USB cable I use, Windows never sees the phone, doesn't make a beep (tuh noon sound) when I plug it in, nothing. I had responded to jo saying "Kies never sees it even with the driver from Samsung installed". Well, I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's safe to assume no program is going to see the phone if the computer doesn't even see it. Here is the URL for my new thread, please visit it and leave a reply if you think you can help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/windows-phone-matter-computer-usb-cable-t3305393
No help in this thread. I don't think I can delete/erase the thread so I'm deleting my own unanswered replies.

I attempted to install a theme package via RomTool and the tablet became stuck on the bootlogo. Tried to go to boot recovery. Istead of the recovery screen I usually get, I received the Factory boot recovery screen. So, I use the clear eMMC choice, still nothing but bootlogo. I can not seem to get the tablet to boot into the OS in any way. Please help. Thanks.
Android Version: 4.2.2
SW Version: ALPS.JB2.MP V1.9
Build Version: MV7A_31D25_422A

This is a known issue of this thing so best stay away from it from now on .
Now can you factory reset your phone ?
BTW this device has mediatek ,right?
I believe that I do. I wasn't able boot to the recovery that i normally had in the past. Instead it went to a boot recovery I had not seen on this tablet before. The only only choice to a possible recovery was to clear the eMMC. I did that. and still am hung up on the boot logo of android.

Dang it ,factory reset usually works
Well as a last resort I would flash my stock firmware but this pretty much means you'll lose your data Unless you haven't backed it up.
BTW can you flash your previous recovery and try to access it again .
Also after emmc wipe you gave it enough time at the bootlogo (10-15 min so it can set things up again),right?
I gave it over 2 hours to set itself up.
I admit I am quite challenged when it comes to Android. I hanen't a clue as to flashing the device. I did have enough common sense to do a back-up to external sd-card prior to attempting the theme update. I downloaded and installed the latest XDA tools onto my PC, but I can't make sense of how to use it.
Any help would be most welcomed. Thank you so far though.

Your phone is mediatek .
Things you'll need are sp flash tool PC ,stock firmware of phone (extracted)
1)download the flash tool and open it
2)select scatter loading ,browse through the extracted stock file and select scatter.txt.
3)now click the download
4)power off your phone and plug it PC through USB
5)wait for success notification
Wait a minute have you tried restoring the backup you made .

So i looked up some links for your stock firmware and there isn't many .is your phone under warrenty then best try to take it to store.
Please forgive my ignorance. Will please define "stock"?
As in a standard 4.2.2 OS, or an original build for this tablet Verizon built? I bought the tablet on, Amazon and have no carrier.
Also, with tablet stuck In boot.... when I plug it in via usb, my PC reognises that it is my tablet, yet shows no evidence other than the device manager. Does the application you mention have ability to access my device in it's current state?
How would I go about restoring the back up?

Yes the tool works if your PC can recognise your device. But the stock (pretty much the standard os you had when it was bought) is pretty much difficult to get

Can you tell me the extension type (eg .zip .jpeg) of the backup you made .its in your SD card right .so try to tell me the extension type by getting SD card in PC via memory card reader or putting it in another phone

I hope its an .md5 file ,its late night here I'll get back to you in the morning .due to non availability of stock firmware(good if you can find it) your backup(if its .md5) is functional way of getting your phone back . you also need mtkdroid tools for this .
The file extension is .backup. I am looking for a decompiler. Then I convert to .md5. We shall see.

Okay . if you get the .md5 file ,there's an option to to prepare blocks for sp flash tool in mtkdroid tools. Then choose the .md5 file and wait for mtkdroid tools to finish.
Now in sp flash tool chooses scatter loading and choose the scatter text prepared by droid tools
Uncheck cache, userdata and most importantly preloader.
Click download in sp tool and now plug your completely powered of phone to PC via USB .wait for success notification.
Ok. I broke down and bought another QMV7A off of Amazon. Screen is in "MEH" condition, big deal. Bottom line.... I have a Samsung Galaxy Light that I am willing to brick. I need help with getting whatever is needed from the incoming QMV7A, so that I may breathe life into boot-trapped other Ellipsis.
I would like to use Samsung as guineapig in my hopefully learning something. I was successful in in getting the tablet back to the recovery menu I am use to using RomTool (must thank that developer....must thank that developer), and was also able to restore 'USER' settings. My backup was NOT OF OS. Huh....
With my settings I did get my dancing Android boot back instead of Verizon's. Now it is stuck there. NIIIIIICE !!
After reading and reading, I still can't figure out how to get a scatter text, or for that matter, what the help is it? I digress....
I need to learn on the Samsung what to do to my QMV7A.
Please assist in the attempted surgery on my Galaxy so that I may bring back my missing toy...errrr...tool...yeah...
In advance, thanks for all the assistance so far by Qwerty. And a hopeful blessing to any other that may teach me what NOT to do.
