[Q] random notification sound - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm most likely going to repair or flash another ftf file but before I do that I want to know whether anyone else is having the same issue.
From time to time I kept hearing my phones notification, but when I check it there isn't any notifications I thought my mind was playing tricks on me. Today I have figured out it was "themes" that was causing this, I cannot seem to block the notification nor stop this random notification sound from it. Just to be clear again, there are no notifications from "themes" i dont know why it shows on the list but it is definitely causing this problem.
Anyone else experiencing the same issue? or help check whether "themes" is shown on your app notification list?
the following shows the most recent app notification
Settings/sound and notification/app notification
also refer to the attached screen shot for your reference.
thanks
EDIT: same thing happening on my xperia z2 tablet

Got the same on my 6603. Stock UK, lb and unrooted.
Random notifications, maybe twice a day.
Themes is the second item in the "most recent" in App Notifications.

im on D6603_23.1.A.0.690_R4C_Customized US_1288-7827, "second item" means it is pretty recent, the "most recent" goes in chronological order. This is funny, must be a bug in lollipop, need to inform Sony

Audio bug
I don't have that bug with the France firmware but I have a similar problem: when I'm watching videos in YouTube and one notification appears, video volume decreases and does not increase again

When I have my mail program on the PC open and it detects a spam message and deletes that, the phone is making a notification, but because it sees the message deleted near instantly, the notification is immediately removed. Maybe you have something similar happening.

Jumping notification order when notification list is open & new notification comes in

Jumping notification order when notification list is open & new notification comes in
Hi
I've tried looking all over the internet for answers to this, but I'm maybe not wording the searches correctly, as I'm not really getting any answers. This is something which has been ongoing in Android for quite a while now, in multiple versions, and it's quite an annoying bug.
When you have the notification list open and a new notification comes in, it can cause the notifications to jump around / reorder / switch, potentially causing the swiping / dismissing of the wrong notification or opening of the wrong notification.
Has anyone found a fix or solution to this?
Bump? Anyone found any info about this?

Just stumbled upon this after getting fed up with this exact issue.
It only seems to happen to me when using google play music. It constantly decides its a higher priority and jumps to the top of the list. Happens on my U11 currently and on my HTC 10 before.
I don't think I ever had this issue with my Pixel XL but I could be wrong. Did you ever find a way to fix this? Going to be playing with notification power controls for google play music and see if turning off automatic will stop it from trying to be top of the list always.

It's not as bad as it used to be, but if still happens. Very annoying. I just dont understand why they cant just add new notifications to the bottom of the list every time.

For me its not even with strictly new notifications. They will decide to re-order themselves while I am trying to read a text message or type a reply. Really annoying.

Stock Messaging app notifications dismissed automatically

Anyone else have this issue? When receiving an SMS message, I will get the pop up notification and sound, but then the notification will disappear as if it has been dismissed. The message will still be unread in the Messaging app, but there will be no notification either on the phone or on my Android Wear device. Strange.
Same here. Anybody find a fix? Driving me crazy
There's an option in settings to check notification access.. probably you can review the applications there or check the notification settings for messages app.. Maybe an alternate messages app is overriding it

I haven't found anything amiss in the notification settings.
My hangouts won't notify me like it used to (on Silent, but with LED), and I've been missing text messages/gmail as well. When I turn on the lockscreen voila! all the crap you've missed. I've flipped every setting known to man. Cleared my cache from recovery. In my frustration, it seems like the only thing left is to drop this brick out the window and get something that isn't messed up by the carrier every other firmware.
Nougat sucks for me. I had to download a samsung theme, to replace the crap they did with it. I am honestly surprised that there are so few people complaining.
Strange. I never have issues with Hangouts. It's only the Samsung Messages app that self-dismisses notifications. I've tried just using Google's Android Messages or whatever they are calling it these days and I actually like it better. Unfortunately, I frequently utilize WiFi Calling/SMS and Digits for a second line and the stock Samsung app is the only text messaging I've found app that does both. This T-Mobile integration is the same reason I switched back to Samsung from my Xperia XZ and why my next phone will probably be Samsung again unless theses features ever become usable on an unlocked phone.
Okay, slightly different problem, but weird and perplexing. Running U firmware on an AT&T A. Stock Email app on mobile data only will show a badge notification for new mail, but no notification sound or light flashing. On WIFI everything works as it should. On AT&T firmware it works fine as well either way. Hmm...

Xperia xz dual sim notification sounds problem

Hi All,
Recently I got my xperia xz dual sim and directly updated it to Nougat.. So dont know how it is on 6.x
I noticed something weird. Basically with whatsapp notification sounds so far. When i get a whatsapp message, sometimes the notificatiom tone works normally and sometimes it is cut.. I mean sometimes i hear just the first part of it.. Did anyone see this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Did anyone face that?
Thanks,
any news friends?
Seriously no one noticed it? :fingers-crossed:
I don't use WhatsApp, but I noticed another weird notification glitch. And this may seem different to yours, unfortunately.
I have an app (my local ISP's) which, very rarely, pops a notification regarding an offer or a service update. And when that happens, the notification sound is different (something I did not set as it is not customisable) and, worse, it JUST DOES NOT STOP! It keeps buzzing and buzzing and buzzing. Dismissing the text from the drop-down does not shut it either, and I am forced to restart the device. This didn't happen with any other app, though (and most of those pop up notifications way more often).
Likewise, another annoying bug I noticed was that the phone/system update notifier became a constant presence in the drop-down even if THERE WAS NO UPDATE on offer from Sony.
Full resets did not help and, anyway, I decided to move on. Cashed in on an attractive offer and traded it for a Google Pixel earlier today.
I hope you find a solution to yours, a_k_gano.

Thanks alot for your reply. it is different than mine.. seems everyone has his own impact
Did you try reinstalling WhatsApp?
On that note, I noticed notification and ringer sounds to "cut" abruptly when I tried listening to them while, for example, choosing a tone (be it notification, alarm or ringer). I am referring to the sounds menu under Settings. Come to think, this comes closest to what you have described and no, I didn't find a solution to that either.

this happens to me randomly... when i receive a notification, sometimes it cuts and sometimes it works normally... mainly happens with whatsapp or this is what i noticed so far. I reinstalled whatsapp, I did factory reset to the phone... but no progress so far.
I can say.. for two days after the 7.1.1 SW update, the problem stopped happening
Oh good! I did get an alert on my email that a new update is ready. But I don't have the phone, traded it up for a Pixel.
This is 7.1.1 and not 7.1.2?
you use whatsapp beta or original one from play store
7.1.1 don't have the problem

Can someone help me find what took over my missed call notification to show ads?

UPDATE: Look here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76594893&postcount=7
First of all, thanks to all who can help me figure this out. It has been a while since I’ve been on this forum and I did manage to try and stay out of trouble with my devices. I am careful about what I put on the phone and I have several antivirus apps running but I can’t figure out this one. This started happening this week on my stock galaxy s8+ unlocked straight from Samsung unmodified by cell carriers. The notification screen now reads “One missed call from 19:00” and I posted a pic of it below this text. I thought a new version of Google Voice was doing this but I uninstalled it. Anyone knows how to figure out what app is taking over my missed call notifications?

When the pop up is opened like on the picture, have you tried hitting the recent button to see what the app is called? It'll usually say the app name on the top left corner in recents
I don’t press on the ads and do not want to take a chance.
It might be the hiya app
I don’t think it’s the hiya because there is a separate pop up from hiya that is purple and shows caller name and not 19:00.
Just hold down on the notification and check the app info
I found the scumbag app. It's called "App Backup & Restore - Easiest backup tool". Latest update displays ads after every call. This is like a virus because it runs when the app is not open.

remove the "phone" permission for the app and it wont be able to post ads after your call

App Bug Notifications do not go to specified message/thread.

When you get a notification that you have been mentioned or a thread you are watching has been replied to, if you click on the notification the app opens on the default screen and not in the thread/post that is mentioned.
Clicking on the notifcation should bring you directly to the thread notified about.
Strangely enough, after I cleaned all data and reset app, the notification I got for this thread brought me straight to the thread. I'll continue to test but wondering if others have this issue?
Hola,
Im having same issue with notifications not opening properly plus always I have 1 non existent notification that always there until i go and mark all read.
Cheers team!
Notifications have been inconsistent for me. If the app is already open it works. But pressing it from the android pull-down menu, the app gets stuck on home tab.
I face this issue as well but it is happening randomly on my end, I don't have the pattern yet.
This is a known issue that will be fixed in an upcoming version. Thanks.
In the latest versions, this is no longer an issue.
