Random notification sounds or vibration?

Since I purchased the S8+, I've been getting random vibrations when it's in my pocket or when it's in my hand (when muted), and random notification sounds (when not muted). It's up to date, notification reminder and smart alert are both off. I've read that other people are experiencing the same problem but no solution has been found.

No sounds here but definitely vibrations at least once a day randomly..

I get them too, I think it might be something to do with the weather app/widget updating

That's been driving me crazy I'll pick up my phone and it'll vibrate for who knows what reason.

I disabled my weather app and widget, but everything is still the same. This is very frustrating, I hope Samsung fixes it ASAP.

I can confirm this problem. Random vibrations. Sound on, vibration on. I thought was only my phone. Exynox version

Is NFC on and it's getting close to what it thinks is a tag? Is it in a case with your bank cards in?

Nope, NFC is off and it's not close to any credit card or NFC device. I'm clueless.

I believe it's a bug with the fingerprint sensor.

Had this on my other phone. It was yahoo mail app.
It would go off whrn i git emails from people i repy to or updates on orders.
Took a while to find it
My wife also had this problem but tyrn out to be another app.

I have the same issue too.
More times a day i feel single short vibrations, but without any notification.
I tried to ask samsung customer care, but they do not know the problem.
They told me to try using the phone in safe mode to see if the problem was gone.
So to understand if it was a phone problem or of a third party application.

Phantom vibrations, look it up.

Do i have to look for phantom vibrations?
I did, but i can't find any solution

This is Dave4777, I just spent over an hour on the phone with AT&T and Samsung turned off almost every app I have that has a Notifier except the ones that I want which make a different notification than my default one period and I'm still getting the random sounds and vibration together or if it's muted I get vibration only. Random no idea why neither does Samsung have any clue. Very frustrating especially for such a high end phone

Figured out what it was on my s8+. My notification reminder was on. I assume the weather app triggered it. Turning it off fixed the issue.

SOLUTION:
Settings>accessibility>notification reminder>off

S8 random notification sound SOLVED!
In notifications settings i switched off notification reminder. The sound is gone by me.Try that

It's either NFC, the finger printer scanner, GPS location services or the commonly forgotten S-Pen (is it loose or missing?)

Go to settings menu, then accessibility, then turn off notification reminder.

Weird Oreo notification problem

Okay so this is really weird and I don't know how to describe it but I will try my best
I really enjoy Oreo but there is a strange problem with the notifications that I have, so I thought maybe I'm not the only one
It goes like this: for example whatsapp, but it happens in all apps as far as I have noticed
if a person X sends me a message, I get a normal heads up notification
but when another person Y sends me a message, a heads up notification will pop up, but it will show the contents of the person X
if another person Z sends me a message, I will still get a heads up notification from the first person X
Does anyone else here have the same problem? Could someone help me solve it because it's really annoying and I miss important notifications constantly...

That's a whatsapp bug probably caused by a poor code refactoring/update to the new oreo notificaiton fw. Stop reflashing your phone and wait for a whatsapp update. (which previously had so many bugs with the notifications).
**And notification dots are not implemented yet. It's also missing from the xperia home beta. More features will hopefully come in following sony updates... Stressing on the hopefully part lol...

This happens with WhatsApp and Signal, that I noticed. It doesn't really annoy me tho, to be honest. I could just slide the notification panel down and read the old notifications

Then it's not only WhatsApp that has the bug.
Guess we have to wait for all the apps to be updated...bummer
EDIT: I think this has something to do with Sony, because my friend that uses a OP3 doesn't have this problem.

Do notifications work with screen off or not?

Hi all. In this Video the reviewer states that he isn't getting any notifications with the screen off. Also it is a problem for one of our members. Is anyone else having these hassles? Do you get incoming text, email AUDIO notifications without waking the phone?

I have no issue with notification at all..
Even when screen is off ..
U do have to active notification from each app setting and alow all permissins...
Also keep in maind to keep app running remove battery restriction from app setting also..
All will work normal

Working for me but I did need to grant WhatsApp and Trurcaller lots of permissions.
I even got True Edge installed for a visual way to get notified and that works brilliantly with the device asleep with screen off.
I was a bit surprised at the extra level of permissions needed. It's all gravy now, but I could see why a reviewer or somebody unaware would get caught out
But yes, I am getting notifications with the screen off in sound and visually, without having to wake the phone.

Indeed at first I wasn't getting any notifications but then I discovered you need to go into the app info and give permission for notifications and turn off battery saver.. now it works perfect and only for the apps I want

The video the OP posted is exactly whats happening to me. I have all the settings as described. Battery saver turned off and even when into each apps settings and allowed ALL permissions just to see if it would work. As the video says, notifications come, but you have to wake the device to see them, there is no sound or anything on screen until the device is woke. Exactly as the video describes. I do hope its fixed soon, I am back to using my Note 5 whilst my beautiful 10 Ultra sits in its box.

Have you undone your earlier modifications to the phone (copying files from phone to phone etc)?
You have two problems and the one to ignore for now is louder notifications. It's notifications at all.
It isn't something to fix from Xiaomi's view and it is always worth learning the software. I don't like it myself... It can be cloying etc.
But the default behaviour is to opt in to notifications. It's working as intended. That said look where we are, it's just your problems are a special case. No biggie, let's fix this!
You have an outstanding issue clouding this where you are trying to use unexplained files on the device (like seriously what format are they? Does it work in Music or anything? Have you tried removing them?)

Thanks all for answering my question! I think this is my last question before buying from Liaow.com, if the syncing isn't a constant problem. Does anyone have a major syncing problem as explained in this review? Once or twice a day I can deal with. I check the calendar throughout the day like most people. However if I get busy and forget, missing calendar events/alarms wouldn't work for me. I'd be forced to use my work iPhone<shudder> for calendar events lol.

How did you get the icons to show on the lock screen?
Mine doesn't. Quite annoying.
Also sometimes the lockscreen doesn't show me notifications even tho they are there.. :s

I have no issues with icons displaying while locked. You do need to enable them and ensure they start automatically and power control is turned off for the app. It has been much easier in the EU ROM for some reason.

Solution!
Here is the thing that helped me with the same notification issue! Just google "xiaomi mi 10 ultra notifications" and in the top 5 links you'll probably find an article from: theunpopulartraveller. It explains the settings, and they need to be accessed by pressing and holding the app icon ^ app info.
Don't give up, try and you'll get the sounds from needed apps back. And ye, actually now I find the way Xiaomi did it much more convenient: I just turned on notifications for 2 apps, and all the rest are silent, while previously I had to turn off all the rest of the apps (much more than 2, definitely) not to get disturbed by all the bull****.

EU Rom doesn't have the "importance" option at 30/31

Well after trying to update to 12.1.1 and seeing what a buggy heap of junk it was, I factory reset, installed 12.0.15, and formatted data. But now notifications don't work when the screen is off whatsoever, absolutely no notifications. Beautiful. I'm so sick of the software issues with this phone, I'm definitely never buying another Xiaomi phone at this point.

Disable adaptive notifications from setting. I dont know what google thinking when creating such feature.
it basically interrupt the whole notification process. Using so called Ai to decide, when to give you notifications or when not to. But most of the time it pick wrong decision and delay our notification altogether.
This is android feature since Q thus also causing problem on Pixel phone. On xiaomi seems like it suddenly got worse on Android 11

How did u manage to roll back to 12.0.15?

Get over to the EU ROM version. Lock screen notifications work fine.
Have you checked each notification that it has no battery optimisation set, also, check in notifications that each one has access to the lock screen. Since A11, notifications have been a pain but for some reason they do work much better on the EU ROM.

There are issues for Gpay and some banking / local safetynet apps for EU ROM which i do not wish to live with.
Somehow the props file in the eu rom causes those issues.
i am probably going to rollback to 12.0.15... now is the excruciating 160 hours wait for unlock.

You obviously don't follow the EU forums. GPay works, safeynet works and my UK bank works. But you also get everything plus more than the Chinese stock and all updates are based on both weekly and stable stock ROMs respectively.

i don't follow it to the tee, but i've seen some reports of some users not able to use gpay out of the stable roms.
that's why.. too much trouble.. i'll see what i can do when the unlock timer is up..

Question Notification problems

Hello All
Ive got the GW4 46mm BT classic paired with a Note20U both up to date , woke up this morning after watch been fine for a week and put my watch on but no notifications coming thru to the watch did quick restart on both no go.
Reset the watch and only some notifications come thru no email or texts tho whatsapp is ok , checked settings nothing has changed.
Uninstalled galaxy gear app and reset watch still the same missing certain notifications even tho they are ticked .
Watch is set to show even if phone is open.
Any ideas ?

You may need to turn on notifications for the specific apps in the wearable app. I had to do this as I was getting no notifications for any apps.

I've checked all the settings and all ticked . Emaids via the Samsung app now work but texts messages have now stopped showing on the watch even tho notification is ticked !!!

Same here, specially with Aqua Mail app, WhatsApp...etc.
As I never had this problem with the old generation watch I got before (Gear S3 running Tizen), I think we have just to wait for the 1st product OS update.
Youth problems are common on first releases. I hope first OTA will fix this annoying problem.

Same here. Text messages and phone calls appear fine. WhatsApp is a hit and miss, sometimes pops up, sometimes just silently shows the notification dot.
In general, regardless of this bug, notification management on this watch is a mess, very poor user experience.
Some things I noticed:
1. If you're driving with Android Auto, it's impossible to respond or take action on a notification on your watch. Anything you click on (such as 'Delete' on an email notification or 'Mark as Read' on a text message) seemingly registers on the watch but the notification persists and no action is taken.
2. The notification indicator is useless if you have the watch set to wake up the screen when you get a notification. Basically it wakes up the screen to display the notification and from that point on it's considered 'read' so the indicator won't appear, even if you didn't actually look at it. They should've had an option to show the indicator while you have uncleared notifications.
3. Multiple notifications from the same app require you to click on a tiny number icon at the bottom of the notification. Inconvenient. (Think when you have multiple WhatsApp messages from different contacts).
4. Looking at a notification screen gives you no indication of whether or not you have other notifications, you have to try to swipe left to check.
5. To clear a notification while it's open -- you either have to click 'back' to the main notification screen and then swipe up or scroll all the way down to find the 'clear' button -- which sometimes isn't there and you have to click on 'More...' first. How about just allowing me to swipe to dismiss it after reading it?!
They'e put a lot of emphasis on health, but given very little thought about the basics.

I can only confirm and complain that I get 0 notifications from Whatsapp even though I've checked all the notifiation settings multiple times. Also even though I've got the wear os version of telegram installed, the telegram notifications I get are standard notifications that can't show e.g. pictures or voice messages.

It was working fine when I got it on tuesday. It even worked fine after the "day 1 OTA". And now I get nothing at all. Tried everything from granting more permissions to the Watch4 Plugin or disabling battery optimization and stuff. Restarted both devices a lot. It just stopped working. I am glad I am not the only one...

An update for you mine started getting notifications texts,Samsung emails etc . Gmail shows randomly but no vibrate or sound on Gmail other notification have this ,
I don't have a clue whats changed to fix this I already had OTA just woke up a few days ago and they were working phone was upstairs watch downstairs overnight ?!?

Weird... well I guess I have to wait. lol

Update from me as well. I turned off both phone and watch and turned them back on together after a few minutes. I don't know why it works but it does.
Edit: Nvm it worked for like one notification and then it stopped working again...

Restarting both devices helped me.

I played around with a bit more. Restarting both devices helps...for a while. As soon as the watch reconnects to the phone (i.e. you move too far from your phone) it stops working. Very annoying still.

I'm has been fine since it started working last week had few disconnects while walking away from phone but coming back in to range and its reconnects fine and notifications a work .
It does repeat whatsapp messages that I previously read and gmail still not vibtrate of sound ,

I have the impression that all the notifications work fine now: Gmail, WhatsApp, Nuki, telegram, Smartthings, messages, Gtask.
Hope it will stay ok.
Mean reason for me is having phone on silence but I can see notifications on watch.
Btw the watch 4 classic is a real beast.

What version of plugin do you have?
I still have no gmail vibrate.

So far, my P7P has been problem free, barring a few minor niggles. Is it just me, or anyone else faced the same, found a fix etc? 100% factory stock, no root, mods etc
- can't quick reply from the notification panel.
If there's a message i can respond to and click reply, the type message bar appears, but the keyboard does not.
No problem clicking the notification to open the app and respond.
- Using gestures, pulling up from the bottom to bring up the recents switcher, the keyboard goes haywire, nonstop opening and closing.
- I've lived in my current home for about 3 years and worked in my office for about 8 years, and not had issues on my previous devices. I keep missing calls, and get notification SMS from my provider that I've missed calls. I see at least 5 or 6 of these daily, and never had this problem before. Even if I call from my wife's phone that's right next to mine, it won't connect and soon after, i get an SMS notification that I missed the call. Is this a radio issue? Software issue?

Have you tried a factory reset?

Try wiping the data of your keyboard. Sounds like something may be up with it there
Has it always done that? Are you using GBoard beta or anything else? Could just be a certain update version as well.
As for the radio issues, no problem here where I live. I'd recommend trying a factory reset, or maybe even trying the Android Beta Program for a test drive.

2. must be a software problem with the keyboard. No problems here with stock or SwiftKey keyboard.
3. everything is the same as before. Signal and reception is comparable to my previous Xiaomi Phone

one more thing I have seen somebody posting here:
"I've found dialing *#*#4636#*#* and selecting all the network options has helped me. It was limited to only NR/LTE/TDWCDMA by default for some reason on the second beta. Haven't had an issue since doing that and updating sim manager."
Maybe try another setting like LTE only or similar.

Cleared data for keyboard as suggested by @Curiousn00b and the keyboard issue in recents screen are gone, however still can't respond in the notification panel.
Will try the beta with root as it seems only I have these issues

The almighty letmedanz returns. Haven't faced any of these issues you describe though.
