[Q] a question regarding TWRP - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I'm trying to install TWRP Custom Recovery on my OPO, which is 5.0.2 with stock CM12s.
Now if I recall correctly, the .zip file of my CM11s installation had 'Bacon' on it ( The nickname of 11s version perhaps? ), and the TWRP download is also called 'Bacon', so I just want to make sure this is also supposed to work on my CM12s.
In other words, is the TWRP download link given at their website compatible with my device ( 5.0.2 & Stock CM12s ).
sorry for my dumbness, I'm just not too good with those things.

Bacon is the codename for this device, so yes you have the right one. You need to approach the install a little differently than usually on CM12S though, see the last question in the FAQ thread:

CM12 builds compatible with MultiROM?

Are there any CM12 builds (or variants) for OnePlus that are compatible with MultiROM? I got so confused reading how to flash Temasek's version that I gave up. There was one that was compatible and it worked until the latest firmware was released. Just wondering if MultiROM is worth it for CM12 builds?
Thanks in advance.

I tried to flash latest nightly with MultiROM, result is bootloop for CM12.
You can make CM12 as primary ROM and keep KitKat based ROMs as secondary
(Clean flash is needed for above statement)

I was able to do this.
I used the following workaround:
1) Install MultiROM
2) Backup your primary ROM
3) Flash the Lollipop ROM as primary ROM
4) Backup the Lollipop ROM
5) Restore the backup of your CM11S? ROM
6) In the TWRP recovery go to MultiROM -> add ROM -> from backup
7) Enjoy!
I'd like to include a link where i found this but unfortunately I can't (I need 10 posts). I do know that it is the first/second link if you google this: [WORKAROUND - MULTIROM] How to avoid "error executing updater binary in zip"
But if you're interested PM me.
No need to do any of those swapping ROM things anymore
Search keyword multirom in the temasek thread and you will find multirom edited ROMs that you can add and they will work. Just make sure you install the multirom app from play store and update to the latest on your primary ROM if there are any updates.
Only requirement is that your primary ROM needs to have a custom kernel. You can flash ak kernel on your primary. Make sure you get the right version for whatever ROM is your primary. Or your can simply install the kernel from within multirom app if you don't care about custom features with custom kernels and that will work also

TWRP - Update AOSP meaning

Hi all,
I know that AOSP is Android Open Source Project.
So, when TWRP says that version 2.8.6.1 includes a "Update AOSP base to 5.1", what does it exactly mean?
Does it mean that the device OS will be upgraed to Android 5.1 ?
BTW, I ask it here just because I have N5...
Thank you

No, it doesn't mean that.
So,
1. Can you explain to me please what does it mean exactly?
2. TWRP does not let me install the OTA upgrade to 5.1. how can I overcome that?
Thank you!!

It means that TWRP base has been updated to Android 5.1. TWRP is based on the open source Android recovery, with each release of Android (4.4, 5.0, 5.1 etc) Google update everything to the new base. So currently everything in Googles repo is a 5.1 base. TWRP updates itself to the latest android recvoery base which is 5.1. It allows for the flashing of latest ROMs, bug fixes and any new features (although in Google stock recovery, new features are very rare)
To update to 5.1 you will need to flash an unoffcial stock version in the development secion or you can grab the OTA zip and 'adb sideload' it.
Thank you Matt
1. Can you just point me to the place where I can select the files to flash?
2. Which one would you recomment me to use?
3. Can I flash them with TWRP?
Many thanks!

You cant apply ota updates above 5.x.x with twrp. Use stock recovery instead.
It is not an error. Aftert the upgrade is downloaded it reboots into the TWRP screen and there I do not know what to do.
So, I simply choose to reboot into system from there, and thus, there is no upgrade.

You've got a few things wrong. So first, in order to be able to install any Cyanogenmod 12 roms (or any other lollipop roms) you have to update to stock lollipop first. Here is the Argentina lollipop 5.0.2 Odin file for your tablet: Wi-Fi SM-T530 XXU1BOH5 ARO Region (Argentina)
Second, the version of cyanogenmod you have is out of date and no longer developed or supported. I would strongly urge you to choose this version of CM12 instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/development/rom-blisspop-3-1-t3084757
Finally as far as Gapps (yes you need gapps), I would recommend TK Gapps, it's regularly updated and you have control over just how many google apps you want installed (I use the nano version, but any version should work fine).

Why I can not use Kitkat android to use CM12? What is the problems? I think that lolipop 5.0.2 use a lot batery, if I install lolipop stock and after that the rom the problem will be same?

Bootloader. If you don't know what that is, don't even bother asking why
You won't be using stock. You just need to install the stock 5.0.2 file before you'll be able to successfully flash any lollipop ROM. Trust me, I've been there before
Don't worry about the battery. The stock rom doesn't have any affect on your battery after you install the custom rom

You can to install successfully only CM12 not CM12.1 on your KK bootloader .
If you want you can to try this 5.0 CM build
http://android.comtek-wiebe.de/Cyan...12-20150324-UNOFFICIAL-matissewifi.zip.md5sum
and http://android.comtek-wiebe.de/PAC-man/pac_matissewifi_LP.Beta-1.Unofficial_20150323-211047.zip
It is the best of CM12 in mine .
You need select 5.0 Gapps .

Yeah, except for the part where serafyn is going to want to install a rom that was built later than March or April.
Trust me serafyn. repey6 is giving you the quick, temporary stop-gap fix. I'm giving you the correct, permanent fix

Yes, exactly, but it's the same easy process. It's worth doing now so you can install any lollipop ROM you want and not have to worry about the bootloader issue
Edit: I just remembered, the ota might not be able to install correctly since you're already rooted. If that's the case, use Odin and that firmware file I linked to earlier in order to update to stock lollipop

I wrote a set of instructions for that here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61421937&postcount=4
It's pretty straightforward, you just have to use Odin to install the recovery, then boot into the recovery and use that to install the supersu zip. The post I just linked to goes into more detail, obviously

Device Information

I am on cyanogenos version YoGDAS2K1. I have lost my device information shown in the details of the snaps taken. This was lost only in a day. My bacon is rooted, Tried wiping system and flashin it again.
I have posted this issue in Jira CyanogenMod and all they say is "TWRP 2.8.6.1 and 2.8.7.0 are specifically know to not flash Cyanogen OS and CyanogenMod files on bacon properly." Can anyone please tell something about this
If your TWRP version is either of the above then it's not gonna flash the ROM firmwares properly, it's a known bug.
Use this exact version of TWRP to flash your ROM (unofficial TWRP 2.8.6.0.6 by kumajaya): androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952609056

What did TWRP do to my tablet?

I installed TWRP. It was supposed to be TWRP 2.8.6.0, but it is 2.8.5.0. Today, I just backed up my tablet with it. After using TWRP, my tablet boots up 6 times faster and the UI functions twice as fast as it did before. Overall, my tablet got better after running TWRP. So, what did it do? Also, I want to flash Lollipop. Can I do that with this version?
I don't know what twrp did to your tablet. If you want to flash a lollipop or a marshmallow rom however you should use this version of twrp : http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...overy-team-win-recovery-project-twrp-t3464050
And use one of theses rom :
lollipop : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-2/galaxy-tab-2-unified/rom-cyanogenmod-12-cm12-t2997934
Marshmallow (recommended) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-2/galaxy-tab-2-unified/rom-cyanogenmod-13-cm13-0-t3303798

twrp manage all general functions before the android system completely started. you can compare twrp with the bios system on your pc.
if you want install the latest roms, you should upgrade your twrp to the latest unofficial common version (3.0.2-6). you can find it here: http://andi34.github.io/recoveries_tab2.html
