Hi,
Did upgrade to 5.1, started having the usual issues as WiFi not connecting, cellular network issues. Sent the the phone to LG, they replaced it with a new PCB/motherboard. Came back with 5.0.1. Now, the 5.1 is available to upgrade. Should I or stay with 5.0.1?
Every time the phone goes for service, I stuck with an iPhone or blackberry. I hate both devices.

I don't see why shouldn't you, upgrading your Android won't destroy your devices motherboard, it makes your software better and more secure.

You must. In the name of science. So we all, that get those issues, know where the problem is.
Definitely upgrade. 5.1 addresses numerous issues, including a memory leak that was pretty bad, it doesn't completely fix then leak, but it does help. 5.1 runs substantially more stable, and it's also been show to dramatically increase battery duration on mobiles.
But a lot of us have remained with kitkat because of the many reported problems with lollipop. Have these problems been fixed now? Is lollipop better than kitkat? How?
Do xprivacy and gravitybox now work in Lollipop?
Thanks.

Hey,
I seem to be having several problems after the recent 4.1.2 update (all stock VZW, no rooting, mods, etc.)
1. Very laggy, particularly when coming off the lock screen. Even doing simple things, like opening the list of ringtones for selection generates significant lag
2. Significant decrease in battery life. Prior to 4.1.2 I was able to get 2-3 days standby/light use. Now I'm getting just a little over a day.
Is anyone else experiencing this? If so, how did you fix it? I'm reasonably well versed in Android, but I haven't tried to flash/update/change any Motorola devices before. I've rooted/modded a few older devices (Nexus One) -- but nothing since.
Thanks!

I think you should check your wakelocks. I'm experiencing a lot wakelocks on my Razr HD since update, specially with Google account. Use BetterBatteryStatus to check it.

You need to update using rsdlite and the fasboot files. It'll fix you right up.

Yeah, I was reading that in some of the other threads. So I went ahead and bit the bullet and did it --- what a difference! It's significantly faster than before, probably better than out of the box. Since I was at a clean state I went ahead and rooted the phone, the new method worked great!
I'm not sure what went wrong with the update. The only thing I can think of that was "less than optimal" -- I was in Australia on a foreign carrier when VZW sent me the 4.1.2 update. I had to download the update over the carrier's (very slow) 3G (HSPA+ wasn't available at the time.) Maybe that caused the problem?

I'm experiencing a lot of issues too. Not super sluggish I think, but battery is bad, lots of sync wakelocks, phone heats up quickly and battery doesn't last that much. I live in Brazil and received the OTA from my carrier, but it's a service version. Should I give it a try and flash it? How the procedure works?
I did that also, but over time MotoBlur takes back over and slows it down, I just flashed CM10 and this phone flies now!!!

Tethering
The only time I experience lag is when I am tethering to other devices. My phone gets really sluggish when tethering.
Any advice?
I was getting random hangups and dropped calls on the Nexus 4 4.4.2. I thought that it was the phone, so I switched to the Nexus 5 but I started getting random hangups again. The phone just hangs up in the middle of a conversation! I'm wondering whether it is:
a) a problem with the Nexus phones in general
b) a problem with Android 4.4.2
c) a problem with the Fido/Rogers network/frequency in my area.
Ideas anyone? I don't think these problems happened when on Jellybean on the Nexus 4.
I also have a jittery bluetooth streaming that disconnects and reconnects constantly, but that is another issue I guess...
This happens to me every so often, but I always thought it was me hanging up on people. I have high cheek bones & if I laugh or whatever, I assumed I was hanging up on people...?

sounds like an issue with your mobile carrier if you're seeing it on two different phones

If you are not using LTE, try to use 3G only mode from settings. I had the same issue and so far its solved
I think it is related to proximity sensor. I face this issue a lot and I only have 3G.

I would agree, if it's occurring on different devices, it sounds like a carrier issue. Wouldn't be a bad idea to consult your wireless carrier for a new microsim for your device since it's the only factor that carried over between the two devices. Should be free I would assume.

From what I can see, this is a common problem on 4.4.2 and/or the Nexus 4 and 5:

Upon reflection, I realize that the dropped calls began with 4.4-4.4.2 on the Nexus 4 and then also on the Nexus 5. I installed a new LTE micro-sim on the Nexus 5 but the dropped calls persisted.
My guess is that it's not the carrier because I was not getting dropped calls on 4.3 on the Nexus 4. It's the software or the phones themselves.

Perhaps- but for reasons explained above, this is a problem with the software and/or the phones. This can't be a carrier-related issue because I was not getting it on 4.3.

I an using the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, both with KitKat 4.4.2, with no dropped calls.
The radio baseband was changed in 4.4.2.
Hello
With the final version of lolipop I have a lot of lost cell signal in place where I usually can phone without problem.
I think the new baseband 2.0.50.2.21 is horrible for me.
So can I flash the last radio of KitKat with lolipop?
Thanks

I don't see why it won't work, go for it, but at the same time be careful, back up your data, I've flashed radios for different versions of kit Kat on my nexus 5 before, but never from another version of Android.
Let us know how it turns out!

Just flash the Last kitkat radio all is fine. I'll see if the reception is better.
I'm having the same issue. Since I bought a used rooted N5 and who knows what they did to that KitKat build, the OTA update to Lollipop didn't work for me. So I flashed a full stock image of Lollipop LRX21O from Google's servers last night.
I don't recall ever losing signal in my home, but it currently is going from a full signal to complete signal dropout for minutes at a time. Was doing it in another location across the city this morning, so I know it's not a tower issue.
Please let me know if you find a stable radio that works with this build. Thanks!

Argh, flashed this last night. All seemed well for about 18 hours, then I have had several episodes of signal dropout this afternoon.
I'm actually seeing the opposite from you guys. Ever since I flashed the stock lollipop ROM and new radio, I've seen signal boost in places where it was terrible before. I would get horrible signal in my house. I now get a steady 2 bars, and my LTE hasn't cut out once. I guess its a Your Mileage May Vary type of thing.
I was on stock KitKat 4.4.4 before. I am with T-Mobile if that makes any difference.
Im another one wit signal issue I have horrible dropouts out of network, for about a minute with new lollipop radio
the worst part I don't have custom recovery any more to flash older baseband,
I'm from Europe. Is there any work around in settings or so please let me know.

I just got the Shield Tablet on Black Friday and after activating T-Mobile LTE and inserting a 64GB Samsung microSD card it's started getting really slow and laggy. I'm running Nvidia's stock Lollipop and haven't rooted. Should I reset my device with the factory image and root? Would that help me with the lag, or might this be a hardware issue and should I get a replacement from where I purchased it?
Having paid $400 and running OEM stock, I'm a bit pissed off at how bad my experience with this tablet has been so far performance wise.
Flash back to Kit Kat, Lollipop is just broke -- not just on the Shield tablet, on ALL devices.
If you want to spend time hunting around, I am sure you can make your experience somewhat better if you really want to stick with the crap OS, but there are some basic problems with the OS that can't be fixed.

Since you are running AOSP, do you have all the Google services installed? Maybe the issue is with Google's Play framework...
All I know is I have tried many of the suggestions that have been posted to fix the various issues. Some work, some don't and some are iffy. I do know I have NO problems with Kit Kat. I shouldn't have to "fix" my OS. ALL versions of Android prior to Lollipop have been significantly better than the previous version -- until now. Unfortunately I just have to wait for Google to fix it (5.0.1 doesn't).

Uninstall Facebook
If using Nova Launcher turn on Aggressive Desktop (Advanced -> Aggressive Desktop)

I also found that uninstalling Facebook was really helpful. Is it just not optimized for Lollipop in general? Seriously, the difference was night and day for me.
I'm not sure if people are just really downplaying the bugs their experiencing, or maybe Canada just got a big batch of bad phones but it seems nobody online is having the problems me and a few friends are having with our phones. When 5.0 first arrived I was shocked to find I experienced none of the bugs that everyone was complaining about, 2 weeks later and my phone in unusable. A factory reset seems to clean things up but within another week my phone will become unusable again. I thought maybe my phone had broken until I spoke to some friends and found out that multiple (5+) are having the exact same issues. So my question is what's going on with the n5? How is yours working? I'm extremely disappointed this time around after the great experience I had with the galaxy nexus and n4 and would even say I was a nexus fanboy. After having the n5 since launch I have decided that I will no longer be buying nexus phones, as I have has nothing but problems with the 2 n5s I have owned.
A quick list of some of the bugs I've been experiencing are:
Terrible Battery
Immense lag / lack of response in general.
Facebook Messenger chat heads seem to close themselves about 75% of the time.
Getting the keyboard to come up is a game of hit and miss.
The Wallpaper changes itself to black (my indicator things are about to get crazy)
Data/WiFi often just stop working, while icons in the status bar appear normal
About 1 in every 4 notifications I get fails to actually send a notification.
I get a constant "attempting to reconnect in x seconds" while connected to my moto 360.
My navbar/status bar often disappear.
And the annoying "bug report captured" bug that has been persistent since I got the phone.
I've had these problems on stock 5.0, 5.0.1 as well as all custom Roms up to 5.0.2
I've even tried going back to KK, while greatly improved, I still experience much of the same problems.
Does anyone else have these or similar problems? Has anyone found anything that runs stable? Or is it just time I move on and get myself an HTC?
Using my N5 in germany and it's the best phone I've ever held in my hands Running CM12 (based on Lollipop) for now. Have also been using stock Lollipop for a few months. Both run extremely stable. To be honest: I never heard about your issues. I'm not that big of a fanboy. Never owned a Nexus device before, but I guess I'll never move away from Nexus
Just my honest opinion about the device
By the way: I've got a moto 360, too. And the connection is great - up to 10 meters at least and no random disconnects
I have zero issues with mine, but I'm on stock 4.4.4 so that may have something to do with it. I'm not a fan of Lollipop at all. Too many bugs, and I don't like the look of it.
After one year with my Nexus 5, running stock no root, never a problem. I'm a former owner of HTC flagships phones, never a problem with them.

Yeah the devices purchased at the play store seem to be fine now. At first, me personally, I had tons of bugs at release. But those issues have been fixed with updates. Mainly concerning the signal and camera speed.
Thread cleaned.
If you think a report is breaking the rules or shouldn't be there for any other reason please report it and move on, antagonizing them adds nothing to the forum but makes our job harder. Thanks, Tijmen.
No issues here besides the occasional Mobile Radio active wakelock, which I did also see occasionally on KK. I did have some memory leak issues on 5.0.0 but either 5.0.1 fixed it or me removing some 3rd party background services did.

Rebooting is normally my go-to solution for problems but it doesn't seem to help these bugs. I installed CM Security and it constantly warns me about my CPU usage/RAM and battery Temperature. The culprit almost always seems to be the Facebook app (sometimes using 250+ mb of RAM just for background services) Could this be a bug with the Facebook app making my phone perform poorly... Does anyone know of any solid alternatives to the official Facebook app?

Fast for Facebook I'd a good alternative
I've been without issues since the factory images were first released, running CM12 CAF builds without issues (besides cm12 bugs)
So call me crazy but I deleted the Facebook and Messenger apps about 6 hours ago and have had 0 problems since... I'm using the official Facebook "Lite" apk I found online and while it is very ugly, things are running much smoother, just hoping that maybe this will solve the bugs I've been experiencing and I'll be able to help my friends get there phones back to a usable state.
