There is a thread in the Universal S6 Edge that has some bootanis but after following the instructions it's still not working for me.
Went into System/media and replaced the qmg files as per OP's instructions. However, I'm still getting the stock Samsung bootani. I noticed that in system/media there are lots of other QMG files with the term "boot" in them. I'm guessing one of these files has to be deleted or changed. Anyone have any thoughts?
The files for sprint boot animations are:
SPR_bootsamsung.qmg
and
SPR_bootsmsungloop.qmg
I would goto /system/media, rename the existing SPR_ files to something else, and then rename the bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg that were installed from what you downloaded from the other thread to the SPR_ filename.
Should work then.
What about the sound

Maybe because you're stock and assuming not deodexed
This might work for you too if your comfortable moving some files around and making sure permissions are okay and such (doesn't seem to matter much anymore though)

Here is the boot animation and also the theme to the show.
Push the bootanimation.zip to system/media. Rename the existing file to bootanimation.zipold.
If you want the sound push the wav file to ect and rename existing file to PowerOn.wavold. I have only tried replacing existing files not sure if will work if you have no boot sound.

Again use at your own risk and so far have only tested on ROM that had existing startup sound.
Glad to see you got it up nd running

Good work man!
Tip: renaming the files to bootanimation.zipold should be bootanimation.zip.old, same with the poweron.wav file. Or you could rename it to .bak, that is how some of the various apps do it so the filesystem thinks it is a backup file. I think sdmaid will remove .old files when using it that is why I suggest using the .bak extension.

Couple of things...
First, while I do appreciate the thanks, I was under the assumption you were going to add this to a full ROM you were working on and not just post it in another forum. If that was the case you could have just linked to my post that I did for this. The reason I never posted it in any other phone forums is that the resolution is set specifically for the Galaxy S Vibrant, therefore may have not looked as good on other devices.
Second, for the sound to work, it all depends on your kernel. I never did one for mine cause the majority of people that use the device I designed the bootanimation.zip for had VooDoo kernels and those do not support boot sound.
Third, if you're wanting to make it flashable you're going to have to learn the code for the recovery system you are using for the phone. I used to have a flashable version of mine, but when codes changed for CWM Recovery, I just figured it was easier to tell people where to push the file to.
Again, I do appreciate the thanks, but next time be a little clearer on what you're doing with someone else's work before posting it as your own.
Thank you

I tried to push both files like you described even renaming to bootanimation.zip.old. rebooted but no animation. Im on valhalla black final + black booster.
Hey Guys,
I made a Bootanimation for my HTC One M8, and I thought of sharing it with you.
It's in FullHD 30FPS, but it doesn't contain a Downanimation. If a lot of you guys like it, I can make one and publish it too though.
I will probably update it to add a custom sound when booting, at the moment it's still the normal one.
-----INSTALLATION----
To install, download the attached file. Now, open your Root browser of choice and go to system/customize/resource.
Here you will find a file called "hTC_bootup_one.zip". Rename it to something like "hTC_bootup_one_orig.zip" or something else to keep the original name in mind if you want to switch back.
Now copy the downloaded file from this post and paste it in the resource folder. That's it, the animation is installed.
-----ATTENTION----
I personally had some problems when showing the animation to my friends, because I soft rebooted my phone 4 to 5 times in a row. Then, after rebooting again, it turned off and nothing happended anymore.
I don't know why this happens, but if you have the same problem, just wait. After some time, the animation will show. This can take up to about ten seconds. If nothing happens, hold the Power and Volume Up Buttons to Hard Reset (It's just called reset, no data get's lost. It just forces your phone to shut down.) your phone. Hold them for about 5 seconds, the phone will vibrate and the HTC Splash Screen appears. Now release the Buttons, the Phone boots up normally.
THIS IS NOT THE CASE WHEN NORMALLY REBOOTING THE PHONE!
I hope you love the animation as much as I do, just download and watch it.
Hopefully, I managed to put a download Link down in the comments, XDA prevents me from putting a link in the post...
---Downloadlink---

@Rainer Zufahl...
FYI, I successfully installed your boot animation a different way (which I think you may wanna think about adding to the OP)
I'm running Candy5 (Lollipop/CM12). I don't have a System/Customize folder, so here's what I did.
1. Using a file explorer, navigate to system/media and place "hTC_bootup_one.zip" file in there.
2. Rename original "bootanimation.zip" file to "bootanimation.bak"
3. Rename "hTC_bootup_one.zip" to "bootanimation.zip"
4. In properties of the new "bootanimation.zip" file, change permissions from rwxrwx to rw/r/r...save. Reboot. Enjoy.
This should help a lot of users having trouble installing.
Is there any kind of preview or something for this? Or should I just hope I like it ?

Well... since emoboy had made and IOS 8 rom, I might as well port some sort of IOS 8 boot animation right? No? ok I couldnt find anything for the regular apple boot animation or I could get copyright strike for it. So this is the best I can do. I dont own any tab 4s as this is tested on my tab s and working fine.
Features
------------------
-Shutdown animation
-Bootup animation
- Should fit fine on the T23x as I built this specifically for it
Download
-----------------
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934554370
Installation
------------------
Copy the qmgs from the zip to system/media and then set permissions to rw-r--r-- . Then reboot.
Developers
-------------------------
-Credit me if you want to use this
- To include this in your rom, simply just put it in system/media and replace those qmgs.
Credits
----------------
emoboy for IOS 8 Rom

bootanimation website
many more I cant remember
Reserved. and sorry no video. Just search for Apple glitch or IOS glitch bootanimation for videoes

I would like to point out that rw-r--r-- is correct, however that is 0644 in permissions (just to avoid confusion). And I would strongly argue this step is necessary.

Must read
note: if you are using custom boot animation from system/media/bootanimation.zip
then this will not work until you disable displaying bootanimation.zip
this mean you must enable displaying these files ( bootsamsung.qmg , bootsamsungloop.qmg , shutdown.qmg ) for the boot animation to work
---------- Post added at 01:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:19 PM ----------
to disable bootanimation.zip you must replace system/bin/bootanimation with the stock one which can be found in your device official firmware!!
after replacing bootanimation file in system/bin with the stock one it will ignore bootanimation.zip DONE !
NOTE: this work only for samsung devices
Nvm
Update: I found the bootanimation.zip file, and replaced it with a custom animation file. However, that resulted in a blank screen with the Android logo, not the new boot animation.
Then, I tried changing the "desc" text file, the number of frames in the new animation, and the file names to match the old boot animation file, but nothing's working. (Now its just a blank screen on boot, the Android logo is now gone.)
Does anyone have a solution to this?

I'm using the Honor 6x (BLN-L24) running Android 7.0.
So, I'm trying to replace the default bootanimation.zip file with a custom one so that I can have a custom animation on boot.
The problem is, I can't locate where the original bootanimation file is located.
I tried looking where the posts I read about told me to look: "/system/media" but it wasn't there. The only files present in that folder were audio files.
Obviously, moving the custom bootanimation.zip file there (in "/system/media") didn't work.
Then, I tried moving the custom animation file into "/data/local" but that didn't work either.
Finally, I just searched the entire system using root explorer and the only file I found was a "bootanimation" file in "/system/bin" that didn't have any label after it, (ie, ".zip, .png, etc.)
Replacing that file with the custom zip file caused my device to not have a boot animation at all, just a blank screen. It probably wasn't the right file. (I "replaced" that file by renaming it to "bootanimation.bak")
Btw, when I tried opening that file, all I got were a bunch of scrambled symbols and letters.
Does anyone have a solution on how I could possibly change my boot animation/ find the original boot animation file? I think I'm missing something here.

I guess it's due to incorrect permissions. You can change the permissions for the zip by long pressing and selecting permissions. Sorry i don't really remember the correct permissions but you can look it up on Google. If that doesn't work either you can use jrummy's bootanimation app from the playstore.

Idk what's exactly causing the error but try other root explorers like mixplorer
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523691
[solved] new boot animation fix
If you encounter the error of having a blank bootscreen and Android logo then you must verify the file that you put in /system/media.
The file should contain different folder starting from part0,part,...
The boot animation file should also contain desc.txt file that contains proper display configuration of your device hardware and name of all part folders followed by c and 2 digit 0s and 1s
After all,
One and last thing every part folder should contain many jpg images of same name followed by sequential numbers.
At last change file permission to rw- r-- r-- using any kind of root explorer.
Permission should look like this
https://ibb.co/nj7gkFB
I use es file explorer
So I was thinking how much I missed being able to change the sounds of my device (lock/unlock, touch etc... And remembered we can change them if we are rooted. Sadly I am not. Only because for me the loss of 20 percent of battery life is a big deal in my day to day activities. But for those of you who went for root heres a little something extra I've been doing since the S4 days. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU COPY AND SAVE THE EXISTING .OGG FILES YOU PLAN TO REPLACE SO THAT LATER IF YOU WISH YOU CAN GO BACK TO STOCK.. With that being said. THESE ARE NOT MY FILES AND TAKE NO CREDIT FOR THE WORK YOU WILL FIND ON THE THREAD LINK BELOW. A fella here that goes by the name of dav3wash put this thread together to bring us a collection of cool Lock/Unlock sounds which I believe will still work here. So if you find yourself over on his page hit that like button to show your appreciation .NOTE: I HAVE NOT TESTED for I am not rooted. I just download the desired file.
From your downloads folder navigate in the zip file and copy the .ogg file
Then go into your device and follow this path.
The path is as followed in your rooted system. From any file explorer go to: System(Root)/System/media/audio/ui.
And paste the new files after removing the old one to a safe location.
Then reboot and your good.
