[MOD][GUIDE] Lock/Unlock sounds (root only) - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Themes, Apps, and Mod

So I was thinking how much I missed being able to change the sounds of my device (lock/unlock, touch etc... And remembered we can change them if we are rooted. Sadly I am not. Only because for me the loss of 20 percent of battery life is a big deal in my day to day activities. But for those of you who went for root heres a little something extra I've been doing since the S4 days. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU COPY AND SAVE THE EXISTING .OGG FILES YOU PLAN TO REPLACE SO THAT LATER IF YOU WISH YOU CAN GO BACK TO STOCK.. With that being said. THESE ARE NOT MY FILES AND TAKE NO CREDIT FOR THE WORK YOU WILL FIND ON THE THREAD LINK BELOW. A fella here that goes by the name of dav3wash put this thread together to bring us a collection of cool Lock/Unlock sounds which I believe will still work here. So if you find yourself over on his page hit that like button to show your appreciation .NOTE: I HAVE NOT TESTED for I am not rooted. I just download the desired file.
From your downloads folder navigate in the zip file and copy the .ogg file
Then go into your device and follow this path.
The path is as followed in your rooted system. From any file explorer go to: System(Root)/System/media/audio/ui.
And paste the new files after removing the old one to a safe location.
Then reboot and your good.
Redirect thread here for files https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2304198
Hope you enjoy. And just so we know ...if anyone tries this can you leave a comment letting others know if it works or not. Thank you!

Will give it a try

Ninjamorph help

I'm trying to remove the clock on the notification bar and I specifically remember the instructions from somewhere on the Mikmik forums, on how to do so with Ninjamorph. I tried going to; system/framework.apk/res/layout (I think it's in the right order) and I see no "status_bar.xml" to switch it out with. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Oh yeah, I tried a zip to remove it, but it resulted in bootloops and I'm running SSv7.5. Thanks and God bless in advance.
EDIT: I found the post thank you Father . It was in the Evo section of the Mikmik forums. I guess I will post it, in case someone needs the info;
"Anyway, you just need two things. One is the mod you want, so you'll need to download steal25's mod, two is Ninjamorph, its a free app on the market. Oh, you'll also need a file explorer. Root explorer is the best but es will do. Use the file explorer to extract the systemui apk from steal25's zip. Go to the extracted apk, long press and extract all. Make sure the extracted files are in an easy to find area. Exit the file explorer. Launch ninjamorph, authorize superuser, and start checks. Then select new project, go to system, then apps, and select systemui apk. When the select item you'd like to change comes up, select res, then select layout, and find and select the statusbar.xml. Then it will ask you to select the item to replace it with, navigate to where you put the extracted files from the mod, and go select the modded statusbar.xml. You won't need to make any other changes, so hit back after it applies, then hit finish project and select the newly modded systemui.apk. Hit yes to overwrite, yes to zipalign, and no to clean up. Then your phone will start acting crazy, its ok it happens when you change stuff in that apk with this app. Just yank the battery and reboot." - (urrgevo)

[Q] How to remove the Verizon Wireless on the stock lockscreen

Anyone successfully remove the Verizon Wireless from the lock screen yet. I have made many attempts via framework–res to no avail. I have made changes to the eri.xml as well as adding/changing the spn-conf. Any ideas or tips would be appreciated.
Thanks
I am assuming the info comes from the SIM card because when its not inserted the phrase, "No SIM card, Emergency Calls Only" is displayed in the same place Verizon Wireless normally is. There has to be a handoff between the SIM Card and code via an XML file someplace but I have yet to find it. If anyone has any info please let me know.
I'd be willing to bet 5 bucks there is an xml edit in framework-res.apk or systemui.apk that would get rid of it , If I come across it i'll let you know for sure.

Ive checked strings in both and neither had any reference. I will check again because i am pretty sure it has to be in framework-res.
Ya I see a lot of lock screen entries in framework-res strings.xml but nothing with plain verizon wireless, i see all the other possible things that could popup and it does look like its linked to the sim from there. I also see a reference to carrierLabel in systemui public.xml with an id of 0x7f0f00ae no idea where its linked to though as of yet will keep digging.
EDIT: Question for you guys are you running ICS touchwiz roms or aosp or what? I ask because I'm on a AOSP jelly bean rom and it might be different then what you guys have
I'm thinking this is going to require editing some smali files most likely, do me a favor and see if you have this file in your systemui.apk:
SystemUI\com\android\systemui\statusbar\phone\CarrierLabel.smali

Thanks.
The two entries I am looking for are:
Verizon Wireless
No Sim Card..Emergency calls Only
Those two phrases pop up in the same place on the lock screen when booting and/or once booted up.
Some other phones like the Nexus have thier carrier lable linked to an eri.xml and/or an spn-conf.xml located in /system/etc and or in /data right on the phone. No need to even decompile an APK, but the GS3 seems to be a little different as none of those tricks worked.
There is an eri.xml located in framework-res/res/xml/eri.xml. But nothing there referencing verizon or a sim card. Looks like a generic xml.

I am running a stock deodexed TW ICS Rom.
Yes I have that xml in SystemUI but that smali should reference a string I would have thought? I thought the smali was to execute and not dictate what the actual phrase. I am far from an experienced coder though so what do I know.
Its late, I will look over this smali tomorrow when I have a little more time.
If we could get a few people digging for this we could probably find it in less than a week...
Thanks for the help!
Not sure if this will do it or not but seems like its definitely worth a try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773879

Well after some more searching I came across a post to remove the carrier name on jelly bean for the nexus and it actually worked for me, I don't know if this will work on touchwiz ICS or not but you may want to do a nandroid and try it. I used the second set of steps putting the eri.xml in /data and left the values blank and no more carrier label

I have tried those too...LOL. They seem to be for either ASOP only or JB. Just for giggles I tried them again to be sure and still no go.
Glad it worked for you though!
Derp I goofed I didnt give you the link in the second edit for what actually worked for me anyhow I'll give you what you need for your ics version.
Do a nandroid backup before making any changes just in case
1) Download eri.xml onto your desktop or some folder you will remember where it has been placed.
2) Open "eri.xml" with something such as NotePad or WordPad and edit everywhere you see "Whatever you want or delete this and nothing will show up". You can simply change the text or delete the text between the quotations and nothing will show up.
3) Save "eri.xml" and copy it to the root of your SD Card.
4) Open Root Explorer or an app similar, copy "eri.xml" from your SD card to "/data" directory.
5) Reboot, and Enjoy!

1) Download spn-conf.xml file i have attached onto your desktop or some folder you will remember where it has been placed.

Stock Deodexed Rom with a dozen or so self installed MODs. All I did was root, custom recovery, and start loading up a few favorite mods like:
Time toggle on/off
AM/PM toggle on/off
center clock
small am/pm
expanded setting for MMS
battery full removed
keyboard icon removed
...and a few others.
Otherwise, stock ROM rooted and deodexed.
Well you may want to consider going with a custom rom, things like this are so much easier on a custom rom because dev's enable these type of goodies . I don't know why anybody isn't on cm10 builds personally ive been running paranoid android for several weeks as my daily driver with no issues at all. But if you like the TW UI I can understand.

well I have painfully gone through each and every XML in framework and none hold the key to removing the carrier name from the lockscreen. I know this because I have swapped each XML from a sprint rom (which does not have the carrier name on the lockscreen) with mine and the Verizon Wireless remained in place. I will go through some of the APKs in /system/app next and see what I can find. I was sure it would have been in framework though.

Modern and Smooth Bootanimation

Hey Guys,
I made a Bootanimation for my HTC One M8, and I thought of sharing it with you.
It's in FullHD 30FPS, but it doesn't contain a Downanimation. If a lot of you guys like it, I can make one and publish it too though.
I will probably update it to add a custom sound when booting, at the moment it's still the normal one.
-----INSTALLATION----
To install, download the attached file. Now, open your Root browser of choice and go to system/customize/resource.
Here you will find a file called "hTC_bootup_one.zip". Rename it to something like "hTC_bootup_one_orig.zip" or something else to keep the original name in mind if you want to switch back.
Now copy the downloaded file from this post and paste it in the resource folder. That's it, the animation is installed.
-----ATTENTION----
I personally had some problems when showing the animation to my friends, because I soft rebooted my phone 4 to 5 times in a row. Then, after rebooting again, it turned off and nothing happended anymore.
I don't know why this happens, but if you have the same problem, just wait. After some time, the animation will show. This can take up to about ten seconds. If nothing happens, hold the Power and Volume Up Buttons to Hard Reset (It's just called reset, no data get's lost. It just forces your phone to shut down.) your phone. Hold them for about 5 seconds, the phone will vibrate and the HTC Splash Screen appears. Now release the Buttons, the Phone boots up normally.
THIS IS NOT THE CASE WHEN NORMALLY REBOOTING THE PHONE!
I hope you love the animation as much as I do, just download and watch it.
Hopefully, I managed to put a download Link down in the comments, XDA prevents me from putting a link in the post...
---Downloadlink---

2nd Install Option
@Rainer Zufahl...
FYI, I successfully installed your boot animation a different way (which I think you may wanna think about adding to the OP)
I'm running Candy5 (Lollipop/CM12). I don't have a System/Customize folder, so here's what I did.
1. Using a file explorer, navigate to system/media and place "hTC_bootup_one.zip" file in there.
2. Rename original "bootanimation.zip" file to "bootanimation.bak"
3. Rename "hTC_bootup_one.zip" to "bootanimation.zip"
4. In properties of the new "bootanimation.zip" file, change permissions from rwxrwx to rw/r/r...save. Reboot. Enjoy.
This should help a lot of users having trouble installing.
Is there any kind of preview or something for this? Or should I just hope I like it ?

Changing boot animation

There is a thread in the Universal S6 Edge that has some bootanis but after following the instructions it's still not working for me.
Went into System/media and replaced the qmg files as per OP's instructions. However, I'm still getting the stock Samsung bootani. I noticed that in system/media there are lots of other QMG files with the term "boot" in them. I'm guessing one of these files has to be deleted or changed. Anyone have any thoughts?
The files for sprint boot animations are:
SPR_bootsamsung.qmg
and
SPR_bootsmsungloop.qmg
I would goto /system/media, rename the existing SPR_ files to something else, and then rename the bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg that were installed from what you downloaded from the other thread to the SPR_ filename.
Should work then.
What about the sound

Maybe because you're stock and assuming not deodexed
This might work for you too if your comfortable moving some files around and making sure permissions are okay and such (doesn't seem to matter much anymore though)

Alternative boot animations for your L-24(US) honor 5X

Here are a couple of alternative boot animations for the L-24 5X. Like all things with the 5X OS they are completely different to any animations I have made for any other device I have owned and I have only tried them using the install method I will describe.
Although I suggest you adopt my method I do not take any responsibility for any ills that may befall your device.
1) Copy the downloaded animation file to whatever folder you wish on your Ext SD card.
2) Using a File Manager navigate to the folder .... /system/media .... there you will find a file named bootanimation.zip ...... Either delete this file or rename it. You will not be using this file again.
3) Again using a File Manager move the new animation file you have downloaded to the folder .... /cust/hw/usa/media .... there you will find another file named bootanimation.zip, rename this file in case you wish to use it in the future.
4) Rename the new file you have moved there to ...... bootanimation.zip ...... Reboot and you will see your new animation.
IMPORTANT NOTE ::::::: THESE ZIP FILES ARE NOT FLASHABLE ZIPS, DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL BY FLASHING - DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL BY EXTRACTING THE CONTENTS OF THE ZIP FILE - ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS MOVE THE ZIP FILE TO THE FOLDER INDICATED
Please don't ask if they will work with L-21/L-22 variants - I don't have those devices so I am unable to test with them - however if you have "large, round, golden ones" and are willing to try, please help out others by informing us if they do or don't.
When you have renamed your new file to bootanimation.zip change the permissions to what the original one has.
I have included animated GIF's so you can have some idea as to what they look like. I would welcome others to build and publish other anims on this thread, when I have time I hope to add a couple more.
I am on rooted L-22 variant.
there is no folder in root with name "/cust/hw/usa/media".

@subodhverma21 ... If you had bothered to read my post #1 you would have seen that I specifically asked for no questions in respect of the L-21 & L-22 variants because I had no way to test those devices. However if you wish to purchase an L-22 for me so that I can test it, then by all means let me know and I will give you the address where to send it.

Was the process of creating the bootanimation.zip different from the usual method or just the installation? I have made several before (although it's been a while). Just wondering if it's the same procedure.

@wickedesires ... I found virtually everything to be different and gave up trying to understand the method used and just copied the format of the original animation. To give you a brief and quick breakdown, the "desc.txt" file takes on a different format - each "part" file is named differently and when previously making animations for other devices I have always placed it in .... /system/media .... as I've said above this is not the case with the 5X. My advice to you is to download the original animation, break it open and amend it by keeping the original format and just replacing the ".jpg" files.
I would strongly advise testing any you make on your own device before publishing on a thread.

When I get some time to sit and fool with it I'm going to make a few more splash screens and some boot animations to go with them. It's just been hectic the last few days for my personal life lol. @metpolds I dig the new 1s bout to set Mona as mine until I can do those

Here's my first boot animation. It's stretched vertically to be 1080x1920 full-screen, the original was 1080x608. I also made a matching red version of the skull splash screen (which is in the boot logo thread).

Here is a less stretched/windowed 1080x1080 version of the same animation.

@wickedesires ... Congrats on the anims, its good to see you won the battle against the 5X's os.
I made a couple more, but due to file size restrictions I can't upload them directly to this post. They are full HD so they are about 30mb each. They can be found here. I cannot guarantee that they will remain there a year from now but I will leave them unless I need the space. As always refer to OP for how/where to install.
