[Q] phone puta callers on hold automatically? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Occasionally when on a call, my phone will put the person on hold. I don't realise this until the person on the other end doesn't respond, and the solution is always to move the phone from my head, and take them off hold. It sometimes happens several times during the same calL. Any ideas?

Settings -> Motions and Gestures. Turn off the mute one.

That makes sense! Thanks!

Thanks for that- thought it was just me mashing mute when the phone was held up to my ear!

well I thought that would work, but I guess not... any other ideas?

Can't always answer phone calls!!!

I held off from posting this, because I can't seem to find a reason why it's happening.
Basically, I'll get a phone call. I'm close to the phone, and have no problem answering it immediately. But maybe 3 out of 7-8 calls, I can't answer it. It'll just keep ringing until the calling party gets my voicemail. I hit the green phone button, the left menu button (for answer), even the word "answer" on the bottom of the touch screen itself. No matter what I do, the call will not pick up. Keep in mind, there is no Bluetooth involved. If I do happen to have a bluetooth earpiece on, I can hear the call ringing in the earpiece, but pressing the action button doesn't pick up the call like it should.
I'm at my wits end here. What could possibly be causing this?

Is your memory getting junky? I presume that the call application takes a lot of memory that it got full and had nothing left to take your response back Im not sure though. Do you ever get complaints like no signs of an Incomming call when people call you? I get it sometimes and still exploring to find a solution.
Regards,
Carty..
The only 3rd party app I have installed is Opera Mobile. I only run it when I need it, and always use the "exit" option. I keep my phone as fresh as possible by killing unnecessary apps. The only things that stay open are my threaded message chat and Outlook.
As for your missed call (straight to voicemail), this happens to everyone not on 3g. For some reason, voice calls will not go through when there is net access. I don't know why this phone can't prioritize. My BB Pearl had no problem with that. If I was loading a webpage, it would simply pause the download and the phone would ring. Not sure, but maybe it has something to do with EDGE. I don't think the Treo 750 has EDGE capability...
The 750 definetly has EDGE, but it's usually CDMA phones with 1x that have the issue of not being able to take a phone call while transfferring data. It does sound like you could have another lemon 750 on your hands.

My experience wasn't as bad as yours. It just took a very long time between seeing the ringing icon and the time the phone actually rings, and then a long time between pressing the answer button and the time the call started.
I upgraded to WM6 and from the few calls I received since it appears the problem is now resolved and the 750 behaves like a normal phone.
Hope this helps.

I am having the same problem if you come up with a fix please let me know. the only thing I found that helps is to make your phone ring longer to give you a better shot at answering. here is a link to this fix

Software for avoiding the answering machine

Hello,
I really hate when I call somebody and after some phone rings (usually 4) the phone from the other side starts automatically the answering machine.
Is there any software that allows to create something similar to a "black-list" of contacts, and when you call somebody of this black-list our phone automatically hang up before the fourth phone ring??
Thanks!

better still there is some hardware that does it,
if you look down at your hand you will notice 4 fingers and a "thumb", now this is the tricky bit! When you hear the phone ring 4 times you take your "thumb" and press the hang up button on either the phone you are using or the handsfree/headset.

Do you have the .cab for the 'thumb'? I looked on the wiki and couldn't find it.

TP2 locks for no apparent reason??

I do not have auto lock turned on. I did load the VZW "clean up" cab. I can't figure out why sometime when I pick up the phone the lock is on, and other times the screen is simply turned off. I never hit lock, simply turn off screen or let it go off automatically.
Anyone have an idea?
Thanks.
Are you sure you are not hitting the top button accidentally. That button will turn off the screen.
I do use the top button. It only turns off the screen though, not locks the device. I can use it, then hit it again minutes later and the device is fine. But sometimes I'll put the phone down or aside for a while, and when I pick it up to answer a call or something I'll find it has locked itself and I have to press the soft keys.
hmm... sounds strange, I gotta go with what the 2nd guy said, I will sometimes lock the device myself (the soft key for it is on the home screen after all and it's VERY sensitive). About the screen turning off, you sure it's not just going into it's timed sleep/standby mode?
hopefully this will be of some help...i too had this problem and then i realized what the cause of MY problem was...whenever i would receive a phone call and would let it go to voicemail, when i would wake the phone back up it would be locked...i cant remember if the same thing happened when i answered the call but i know for sure it would do it when i pressed ignore call or mute ringer and let it go to voicemail...SOLUTION:i downloaded a cab called disable auto lock (or sumthing like that) and it fixed the problem...hopefully that helps..

I've been trying to figure this out as well and came to the same conclusion. My screen is off, I answer a call, and when I hangup my screen is locked. I did a quick google search for disable auto lock and didn't have much luck. Can you post the name of the file and where you got it? Thanks
Not sure where I found it, I think PCGeeks, but it was called Disable_Auto_device_lock.cab
HOWEVER...it did not work for me. I may have to cold reboot (from scratch) as I've tried so many different cabs, things are getting messed up. I'm trying to hold off for the ROM update.
The phone will automatically lock if you miss a call. Sometimes if you pick up on the last ring the phone will consider it a missed call and still lock the phone. That has happened on my 6700, my 6800 and now my TP2, but this is the first phone that locks after a missed call. I actually like it becuase since I dont have a S2U2 or 6.5 on the phone it prevents butt dialing if I leave my phone in my pocket or soemthing.
I have noticed the same issue. I also noticed that it did not happen before I had installed the clean up cab. I had thought that the lock button was being hit while the phone was in my pocket.
Although the "Disable auto..." didn't work for me, I down loaded and am trying S2U2. So far, and if I'm not mistake, It did not lock me after a missed call, or answering a call.
I'm going to play with it for a while. Had something similar before on my old Q9c so if it works, great!
I just hope all these friggin cabs work when I update to 6.5, or I may not! The only real pet peeve I have about the TP2 is earpiece volume. If the cab volume booster doesn't work, I won't upgdate!
I have this issue as well. It seems to lock if the person that calls me hangs up before I do. It also locks if I ignore a call. I have had it lock in the middle of a call as well. Really annoying if I need to use the onscreen keyboard to enter information during the call.
I hope someone can find a solution for this. So far, it's my only complaint about this phone.
Well, I've been using S2U2 now for a couple of days. Getting to like it! My screen no longer locks, and I kind of like the Iphone type unlock. When a call comes in 2 nice large buttons for either answer, or end (ignore).
You may want to try it.
Mine does the occasional random lock also and when it does, it wants a password that does not exist. IF anyone knows what the standard password is, please let me know. I don't have one set and need to reboot when this happens. Really my only beef with the phone which hopefully gets fixed in 6.5
I have found that if I receive an SMS the screen will come on on its own. In those circumstances I have seen it lock the screen afterwards.
I am thinking it is a failsafe put into the phone for accidental button hits after the phone wakes up from certain activity but could be in a pocket.

[Q] How do you make phone button recognition better?

I've really enjoyed my Skyrocket (switched from iPhone 4), but I have to say by far my biggest complaint since using this phone is trying to talk on the phone. I can't talk two minutes without suddenly hitting a bunch of keypad keys, making all kinds of beeping noises, which then typically mutes the line. I take the phone away from my face, wait for the screen to return from black (typically takes about 5 seconds), then I go back and unmute the phone and return to talking. Or it just puts them on hold. This is such a prolific problem that I find myself screaming profanities at my phone on a daily basis lol. It's really extremely frustrating. My google-fu has lead me to NO answers, which amazes me because I figure this HAS to be more common of a problem. I've tried holding my phone so many different ways - making sure my face is making contact with the whole phone and pressing hard, holding just the top half to my ear and holding lightly, attempting to make no contact at all - no matter what I try, I still hit this problem an unfortunate number of times per conversation. Is there no app in the market that tries to improve face-touch recognition or anything like that?
When you make the call push the power button to lock it

Oh. See, on the iPhone, that ends the call, so I didn't think of that. Thanks!

There is a setting to make the power button end the call as well

Yeah that works fine on mine. He may have disabled the sensor in settings, or it wasn't on by default for some reason
Settings/Call/Turn on Proximity Sensor.
If this is checked off your screen should go dark when you put your face up to it (and no buttons getting pushed...)

Speaker intermittently stops working

So I'm not sure what to make of this but sometimes the speaker on the bottom of the phone won't work. For phone calls or music or anything. Earlier I was trying to figure out why and I gently pressed on the middle back of the phone and the sound came right on! What does this mean? What is it going to take to fix my phone.

The exact same thing happens to me. I can get sound from earbuds, but when I unplug the earbuds, the speaker doesn't turn on like it should. But tapping the phone hard, such as on the back, will make the speaker turn on. Sometimes the speaker turns off by itself, I can tap it hard again to turn it on again. Just started happening in the past week or so.
