[Q] Lollipop Locked Screen - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI there,
Upgraded my Z3 to lollipop 2 days ago and, from all things that are currently annoying me, the new lock screen is, by far, the best (or worst).
There are two things that I can´t get along:
First, even while locked, you might swipe your finger down and get access to a menu with wifi, bluetooth and other switches (including airplane mode), being able to disable communications completely without a password. I find that disturbing, not to say a vulnerability. Is there a way of completely disabling this menu while locked? I do not want to root the phone.
The other thing is the act of unlocking the phone itself. Before lollipop, It would take 2 taps, a password and the enter (ok). Now, they introduced a swipe up to reveal the dialpad, so I can enter the PIN. Is it possible to change this? I want to be able to unlock it faster... also without having to root it...
Thanks in advance!

For your second point about quick access to the homescreen change the lockscreen to just swipe in security settings

With just swipe is the same, and you can acces also Settings and that' s not so good.

Again, not true.
I have it set to just swipe, and when I swipe I go straight to my homescreen, no dialpad for a PIN or dots for a pattern.
However, initially I had to have either a pattern or a pin. To disable this just remove all credentials. I had none before I upgraded but after upgrade I had to clear them in order to be able to have the option for just swipe on the screen lock

I have it set to Just Swipe and I can acces all from notification bar.

I think we are talking at cross purposes here, apologies for the confusion, I will edit my original post
Yes, you can access the notification bar from the lockscreen no matter what the options for screen lock are.
I was replying about the second point, which was that he has to swipe the lockscreen AND use a PW/PIN to get to the homescreen.

Yes, I just realized. Sorry too for the confusion.
At least it' s all clear now for everyone.
His post had two points, one about notification bar and a swipe to unlock.
All good now, as I confirmed that the notification bar is not so secure.

Hi there!
Thanks, but swiping is not an option... The device is encrypted, so I have only the PIN and password options, unfortunately...

AFAIK encrypted phones cannot have swipe only either, but I have never encrypted my phone, so this may be worth a go

I cleared the credentials but both Exchange accounts stopped working. They gave me password errors... had to remove and reconfigure the accounts. Maybe that´s because of some server side security policy... unfortunately.

[Q] Google Now opens on screen unlock.

Hi, firstly I'd like to apologise if this is in the wrong place as forums generally confuse me.
The 'problem' is this. When I unlock my phone, from the screen lock, instead of displaying my homescreen
Google Now is instantly displayed, regardless if it was the last thing I looked at or not.
It is really bugging me, to the point I've turned off Google now, but I wonder if there is another solution,
as I really like this feature and having it as part of my home screens in kit kat.
Many thanks
If you swipe up on the lockscreen that will take you to google now when you unlock the phone.

Yes, I am using the stock launcher, and am using the default swipe screen lock, the one which displays a little round padlock icon

This is not from that upward swipe, it happens from any unlock. The phone unlocks as normal
except the first screen that appears is Google now. I've notice it only happens after around 5+ minutes of standby

Upon unlocking, the GEL is supposed to load the Google Now UI on the hidden left homescreen so it's ready to be accessed with a swipe. From what you describe, it appears that the swipe-to-unlock gesture is also being registered as the swipe to the right that displays Google Now. Since Google Now is part of Google Search, it might be worth a try to clear data of Google Search. Also, does the same thing happen If you use a pattern or pin to lock the screen?

Hi, I tried a wide of the Google Search data, which wiped all homescreens.
Even so, the problem remains.
I have also used pattern unlock which resulted in the same thing happening.

This happens to me also. It doesn't happen all the time. It started after upgrading to Lollipop. Any answer to this yet?

This still happens maybe once every other week. I wonder if it is related to the Google Now weather notification on the lockscreen that is somehow getting triggered when the phone is unlocked.

With Secure Settings (and Tasker) it will do pattern lock. I am doing this. The only difference between KK and L with secure settings is you have to go into the spanner icon > Pattern unlock method [4.1+] > Lock Settings (Experimental)

One thing I've had a few times though, if im locked then come in range of WiFi, it is still locked and the pattern doesn't unlock it, so I've had to turn the screen off and on again

I read somewhere (can't recall where) that, that is supposed to happen. You have to unlock first with pin/pattern then it should take affect but I too have only had this happen a couple times. The rest of the times it just simply unlocks.

Hmm. With the new experimental feature you mean?
But what I mean is it is broken sometimes. Doesn't accept the pattern. It shows the pattern path as correct and just hangs there, not unlocking, until I off and on the screen.
use the new play service apk and set location

Do you have Secure Settings?
And in secure setting do you have System+ Module enabled and set up as Device Admin?
What me and @rootSU were talking about is just a, you can say a bug, where the pattern is complete but it just hangs to unlock. You can see the pattern (Which I think sucks because someone else can see if you just leave your phone on that screen) but it just stays there. You lock your phone again and upon swiping the regular slide lock, there shouldn't be any prompt anymore and it should work fine after that.
I know using Tasker alone cause a lot of error like not disabling lock screen at all and just a blank screen sometimes.

Fingerprint unlock problem

With latest firmware (G930FXXU1APD1-G930FDBT1APC5-DBT) Im having problems when unlocking the device with fingerprint. It does not allow me, but instead I get:
“Enter pin instead of using fingerprint recognition because of security policy”
And I have to use the PIN.
This happens when locking the display with “lock wedged”. If the lock is made with button (power) ... or time out display. Then I can normally use the fingerprint.
Does someone also facing the problem?
Is there any solution – setting?
Best.
D.
Yes i had this and tried to reset my fingerprints when i tried that settings error and closed, then i couldnt change anything, pin, fingerprints, couldnt even factory reset. Cause it always asked for my pin and after i entered it settings would error rebooting didnt help. Finally using android device manager from my pc i had to do an erase. My s7 is stock and it had nothing disable at the time this happen.

there might be extra Policy set on ur device.
go to setting > Security > click on Clear Credentials
+ also check what is ur device administrator
:good:
I had that even on my Nexus 6P when using Nova's double tap to lock feature. I think it's something to do with Marshmallow actually.

Clear credentials is not active.
Device Admin - APP is added.
So the error is still there.

You can try Samsung's Good Lock app from Galaxy Apps store or, if you live outside U.S., from apkmirror.com. It's a System UI update that allows fingerprint unlock with third party locking widgets.
@ avah
This actually works. But ... then I get totally different lock screen display etc... that I actually don’t like.
So ... till now ... no real solution.
Best.
Hay
Question.
Is it possible to flash the phone back to previous ROM version via Odin… and you won’t get Knox void .. or something else??
I'm thinking to go back to previous ROM when lock and fingerprint worked OK.
Best

This is a duplicate of: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/help/security-policy-prevents-fingerprint-t3354270
You can find details on that thread about this problem.
I'm having the same issue and I must say it is very annoying. Can't really see any reason why this should interfere with the security. Should be my choice to be honest. Would be nice to have a solution to this. Looks like it's been an issue for a long time as well. Found some threads about the 6P for example with the same issue.
Try use other app to pass that policy: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.luutinhit.doubletapscreenoff

Yes but the problem still remains so it was a good initiative. I've got a brand new S7 and I find this very annoying. If I switch off my screen with Nova, I have to use fingerprint+PIN Code to unlock. If I switch it with physical buttons, I only have to use fingerprints..
Fixed

Can I remove Android swipe screen at switch on?

I'm on Marshmallow and use SmartLock, so under the right conditions no unlock is required. However, at switch on there is nevertheless always still a screen to be swiped away (clock and emergency contact). Does anyone know a way of eliminating that stage, so that switch on goes directly to the desktop?
Thanks.

Thanks. But I'm afraid you missed the point. I use the lock screen, and I want to continue doing so. What I want to eliminate is the swipe screen that appears under the circumstances I've described.

Swipe to unlock now gone

I had the Honor 6x set to unlock on Fingerprint. But after I removed it, it defaulted to enter in the PIN Number. I wanted to change back to None (Swipe to Unlock) but it is now grayed out. It says it is blocked by Administrator or Credentials. I went in there and cleared out the credentials, but still only had the unlock option for pattern, PIN, and password.

Well if you are not using fingerprint or corporate email, i can't think of any reason why it should be disbaled. If it really bothers you try reseting the phone and it should be working again. Then when you are setting up the phone again check at every step if this disables the unlock method

I was able to get it to work again by going into Reset Settings and doing that.
I had to redo my phone settings, which took about 10 min, but the Lock Screen is now back to None (swipe to unlock).
