Can I remove Android swipe screen at switch on? - General Questions and Answers

I'm on Marshmallow and use SmartLock, so under the right conditions no unlock is required. However, at switch on there is nevertheless always still a screen to be swiped away (clock and emergency contact). Does anyone know a way of eliminating that stage, so that switch on goes directly to the desktop?
Thanks.

Thanks. But I'm afraid you missed the point. I use the lock screen, and I want to continue doing so. What I want to eliminate is the swipe screen that appears under the circumstances I've described.

[Q] Removing stock lockscreen widget

Does anybody know how to remove the stock sense widget on the lockscreen? I can put my own widgets on other pages but I can't remove the stock sense widget on the main page. Frustrating. Does anybody know how to do this? Or is it possible? I want to use dash clock.
I am curious about this as well and have not been able to find any info about altering the lock screen widget as stated above.
same here. Would like to get that nonsense off my lockscreen
I saw a post in another thread with a screenshot of a very clean lock screen, I have not found it yet though.

If you find it let us know. It might have been for a custom ROM, since the lock screen on stock in blinkfeed based I would assume flashing a ROM and not running blinkfeed would allow the us to change this BUT ideally I want to stay stock (with s-off/root) if I can, so here's hoping something can be worked out.

You should be aware that to use SlideLock you'll need to go to Settings > Security > No Lock Screen, or you'll slide your LS and then the Sense one is right underneath. Also, music controls don't work with SlideLock at this time.

I downloaded this and tried it too and the first thing I did notice was that it was just running over the default lock screen which is what I was hoping to avoid by just altering the default one to suite my needs. It is clean and simple though and I cant imagine it causing too much slow down, a lot of the options are locked though for a pro version that costs $2.73.

Unfortunately I cannot set that due to outlook group policy at my firm. However, after the first two times or so the original lock screen that was behind slide lock is now gone, which is great and unexpected. I will go to the official thread and look for this answer now but how can I disable wifi notifications on the lock screen? I blacklisted "system" and only allow a few apps but this continues to pop up, sometimes more than a handful at at a time.

[Q] Disable quick settings in the Lock Screen/Android 5.0

I've noticed that Android 5.0 allows to change many system settings (enable/disable WiFi/BlueTooth/Autorotate/etc) on its Lock Screen without entering any password.
I hate this liberty.
Does anyone have any idea how to disable this feature?
I cannot find anything in settings.

I agree but there's nothing in android. 3rd party lock screen is the only way.
a fix for this would be good, as anyone can just pick up your phone and change any of the quick settings without unlocking it.
So you would not be able to track the phone if it got nicked and someone just stuck it in airplane mode!

does it matter if airplane mode is in quick settings or the main setting? if they want to steal your phone and put it into airplane mode, they will do it regardless if its in quick settings or the main settings. its stuff that you yourself use often that will appear in quick settings. i personally think its a great feature.

But they should not be able to do it while the phone is locked. At very least we should have the option of what should be accessible without unlocking the phone.

even if they were not in the quick settings, you can still pull down the notification bar while in the lockscreen, and go into the main settings. so, everything there is available to any thief.

Heck, I'm not even worried about the security situation with this, I just want to disable it because I think it is extremely poorly executed!
It offers nothing that power toggles doesn't, and is not even configurable for what options are present. I never use auto-rotate, cast screen, invert colors, etc, and yet, those options are available instantly!

They can also just remove the sim card or turn it off.
What I am looking for, is for the only possible thing you can do, while the phone is locked, is enter the password. Is there a way to set that up? Not be able to toggle any settings at all or remove the quick settings(I am ok with the emergency calling and camera widget, since you can't access the pictures on the phone until entering the password). I know they could still remove the sim or power off the phone but at least it might buy some more time if your phone gets stolen for you to track it or snap a pic of the thief. It would be nice if you could also disable the power menu and volume buttons while on the lock screen.
For now, until other solution is found or developed, you can go to notification settings and in 'When device is locked' change the setting to 'Hide sensitive notification content'. This disables access to quick settings from the lock screen but also hides titles of notifications, so you will see the notifications for emails, texts etc., but their content will be hidden.
This doesn't work. Well, if you have root and xposed you can install "Advanced Power Menu" to control the power menu on lockscreen etc and with GravityBox you can control the items on the quick settings. But I still couldn't figure out a way to totally disable it on the lockscreen.
As I remember the "X posed" Module "Notification Mod" could do exactly this. Problem is: It seems that development is discontinued and the stable ver1.2 doesn't (on my lollipop custom rom) work on 5.x

I am seeing this in my new Samsung S7 edge... with finger print and password lock.... it is not there on S5 with finger print and password lock... its a silly feature... why would they turn it on ? My son just put my phone in airplane mode accidentaly.... and I kept wondering why no messages and calls for the whole weekend.... hate to think what it would be like if it happened to someone who was say, on a on-call emergency personnel or something like that.... no one would be able to reach out to them.... I guess now have to keep checking my phone every hour.... hahahaha... or maybe go back to using my S5.. if someone has a solution to this pls share... appreciate it.
No way to disable access to quiick settings on lock screen on unrooted Android M....
Try the Market anyway,
One solution for me on Android 6.01 was to disable WiFi, Bluetooth, Airplane Mode, Mobile Data from Quick Settings using Systen UI Tuner in Settings then downloaded Settings Extended app at the Market and moved all mentioned in SE's Notification Shortcut. Don't forget to enable "HIDE LOCK SCREEN NOTIFICATION" in Preferences which is the objective of all this anyway. So don't forget to click this.
You can even disable everything in Quick Settings and instead put them all in SE Notification as Shortcuts. What's great about SE is that its Notification gets the icon color/shade/background color/color when toggled etc. perfectly in Android 6. Exactly the same. It looks like its really part of the Notification Screen except that there's that horizontal gap that separates the notifications and makes the screen fiddle faddle.
Try it anyway. It might be your only hope against lock screen vulnerability in unrooted Android 6.0 phones.

I have the same problem with my S7. Its weird that you cant change the wifi or bluetooth without unlocking the phone but when you select mobile data or airplane mode you can turn that off from the lockscreen so when your phone gets stolen, the thief can so easy turn that off that there is no way to trace your phone. Why do they even call this a smart phone while its so dumb?

I must apologise first, I’m not a nerdy-head about android, but I was thinking about my new phone (upgraded to A7) and your question is one that I sought out for answers.
In Nougat, I logged in as Guest and used a pin for the user so that a ‘guest’ can’t access the Guest account without my permission.
Then comes you’re question.
You can remove all the worrisome quick start icons from your quick settings (probably leave flashlight). Then use a 3rd party app (Notification Toggle is mine) which isn’t available to a user from a protected login.
As I’ve never had a lollypop viable phone I’m afraid another user might need to help you with a more detailed method for A5.
Hope it helps somewhat. As an old 8080 machine code programmer, it was always about solving problems and then working the bugs out. I'm not even sure how to post on these - socially thingy’s.
This issue it's still there in Nougat, so before it is passed on to Android O, we have to POPULARIZE this issue so they(Android developers) know how big of a pain in the ass it is. I'm posting the complaints to every forum, magazine, fan page, etc. When it's on the social media, they have to do something. This issue has survived because people don't want their friends to know about it, coz it's partly embarrassing...

[Q] Lollipop Locked Screen

HI there,
Upgraded my Z3 to lollipop 2 days ago and, from all things that are currently annoying me, the new lock screen is, by far, the best (or worst).
There are two things that I can´t get along:
First, even while locked, you might swipe your finger down and get access to a menu with wifi, bluetooth and other switches (including airplane mode), being able to disable communications completely without a password. I find that disturbing, not to say a vulnerability. Is there a way of completely disabling this menu while locked? I do not want to root the phone.
The other thing is the act of unlocking the phone itself. Before lollipop, It would take 2 taps, a password and the enter (ok). Now, they introduced a swipe up to reveal the dialpad, so I can enter the PIN. Is it possible to change this? I want to be able to unlock it faster... also without having to root it...
Thanks in advance!
For your second point about quick access to the homescreen change the lockscreen to just swipe in security settings
With just swipe is the same, and you can acces also Settings and that' s not so good.

Again, not true.
I have it set to just swipe, and when I swipe I go straight to my homescreen, no dialpad for a PIN or dots for a pattern.
However, initially I had to have either a pattern or a pin. To disable this just remove all credentials. I had none before I upgraded but after upgrade I had to clear them in order to be able to have the option for just swipe on the screen lock

I think we are talking at cross purposes here, apologies for the confusion, I will edit my original post
Yes, you can access the notification bar from the lockscreen no matter what the options for screen lock are.
I was replying about the second point, which was that he has to swipe the lockscreen AND use a PW/PIN to get to the homescreen.
Yes, I just realized. Sorry too for the confusion.
At least it' s all clear now for everyone.
His post had two points, one about notification bar and a swipe to unlock.
All good now, as I confirmed that the notification bar is not so secure.
Hi there!
Thanks, but swiping is not an option... The device is encrypted, so I have only the PIN and password options, unfortunately...

Always On Display with Notifications Set-up

In case anyone is wondering the best combination of settings I've found is:
Face unlock - Slide to unlock
Smart lock screen notifications - On
Wake up device - On
Now go to Notification management, Batch management, hit the 3 dots:
Hide content notification - On
Now enjoy notifications whenever you pick up your screen. Swipe up to unlock or swipe notifications away. If anyone else picks up your phone, they can see notifications but not content.
Hope you find this useful.
I don't recommend using AOD ... as of current firmware, position of everything is totally static. Could be susceptible to burn in.

OMG, thank you very much dude.

That can't be right? I am sure I remember seeing mine move?
OK after placing a ruler on the text I can confirm the text does move. It moves down a few pixels every minute jump until about half way down the screen, and then back up again every few minutes.
+1, it does move just like Samsung AOD
I like your setup! I had auto face unlock before but it's actually useful to be able to see the lock screen a lot of the time (like a 'whats new' screen).
I find that whatever lock screen notification access setting I use, notification content is restricted on the lock screen until I show my face. Is this a known bug? Or am I doing something wrong? At the moment I can't even, for example, let my friend skip a track on Spotify from my lock screen.

I'm facing this problem too, i have all APPs and even notification settings to show content on lockscreen but they don't show up. What's the trick in here??!! I'm wasted of going around on this 1000000 (sub)menus for the solution but nothing, it doesn't show the content on lockscreen.
Is this related to face unlock? Or is it something else? It's my first Huawei phone, i'm still trying to figure out everything to make this beast run as i want.

For me:
Settings -> security & privacy -> face unlock -> "smart lock screen notifications" set to OFF. Else enabling face unlock breaks notifications.
On a related note, I've also disabled Huawei's power optimisation nonsense with the batch mode. Oreo does a good job of managing background stuff by itself and this nonsense just breaks everything.
i have the same problem as above....ive tried everything....very strange!
My smart lock screen notifications is set of off btw
No app notifications are showing on lock screen

Ok so I posted this problem originally and the solution suggested by stevo_125 worked for me!
Basically you need to do two things:
- Turn off smart lock screen notifications in Face Unlock
- Turn on show notifications on lock screen from the three dot menu in notification management
Then go back and make sure they are still both set correctly.

must be some kind of bug
The only thing which is killing me, is that you are not able to read the whole notifications in the unlock screen.. Just a few words.
I've just asked to support and they told me "not phone features"

Question Is the AOD really supposed to be this way on Pixels?

I am so used to my OnePlus 9's AOD that I'm kind of surprised how terribly it seems to be implemented here and I'm hoping it's just being buggy...
First off, the AOD doesn't seem to work at all if I don't choose to have it displayed all the time (which is the first hint that this may be a bug as even the preview for tap or lift seems to suggest that the AOD should be popping up, not the lock screen as is happening right now).
Second, if I do have it displayed all the time, incoming notifications bring up the lock screen. My OnePlus shows a preview of that one specific notification while still on the AOD screen and it seems silly that Google isn't utilizing something similar. It is extremely handy to have a text come in, say with a 2FA code, and have the entire screen black besides a large preview that shows you that code. The way that it is working now, it wakes the lock screen, which is fine, except the message gets truncated so it often requires me to interact with the device even further to be able to see the full message.
I also tried turning off wake the screen for notifications to see if that triggers the AOD and... it just adds an icon to the AOD...
This is a huge downgrade in user experience if this is the normal expected behavior. I could have sworn my 3 XL handled it better than this but I haven't used it for awhile and I'm not at home where I could check it. Maybe I'll have to look into third party options.
Im not quite sure and your whole post. I as well had the Oneplus 9 pro. My Pixel 7 pro AOD works just fine. I double tap screen and goes directly to the AOD, which displays the Date(top left corner), the time that is big, the fingerprint icon and battery percentage. a tap of the screen brings up the lock screen. Face unlock and pin works directly to the home screen. Now I do have to say im using Nova Launcher as i can't stand that the dat and google search bar can't be removed.

Thanks. Sounds like I have a bug after all right now.
When you get a text or something, does it show an AOD notification with a preview like the OnePlus did or does it just show the lock screen?
I turned off screen on with new notification, I will have to check
Without screen on with new notification, I still get the notification and AOD stays on. Lock screen does not come on. So in other words, AOD works as it should.

The AOD on my Pixel 4a works just like you describe the OnePlus AOD, it stays on the AOD but displays the message at the center for a few seconds, sounds like a bug (unless this changed on the 7 and 7 pro for some reason).
Interesting. Thanks to both of you. Hopefully it gets resolved at some point. I'm in no mood to factory reset and set everything up again so I'll just deal with it for now.

Don't know if I understand you correctly. Do you have enabled AOD all the time (always show time and info)? If not, you double tap to show AOD and it's working fine? Do you have any other settings enabled (tap to check phone, etc)?
I have disabled AOD (always show time and info) and when I tap, it goes straight to lockscreen. Not sure but that change may have been introduced in one of the latest updates.
@EtherealRemnant same question to you
In my case as it works right now:
When I enable AOD (always show time and info), it is showing all the time. When I disable that, it's not. When I tap on the screen (when AOD is disabled), it goes straight into lockscreen. When I receive a notification, AOD shows for a short moment.
What I would like to achieve (dunno if that's possible) would be to have tap to show AOD instead of lockscreen (with AOD not showing all the time).
I understand what you would like to do( tap the screen to have AOD appear first. I cannot find anything like( temp AOD) in settings. The show time and info toggle is basically the master AOD switch. Either AOD all the time or disabled completely, nothing in between.
Same for me, after reading topics on reddit, I was thinking I wasn't a bug and I might misunderstood what op was saying.
@trawel to add to your statement, if you move slightly your phone, like lifting one side, the AOD should come, most of the time (sometimes screen stays black)
But yeah I also would like to be able to "tap to show AOD" so it won't unnecessarily unlock when it sees my face.
AOD = Always On Display...it's in the name...ALWAYS ON. I understand what you're looking for but then it would NOT be called AOD, but SOD = sometimes on display.

We get the semantics but the point is that the AOD used to function differently. You used to be able to tap to get the AOD to come on and lifting the device used to always go to AOD FIRST. When I made this thread, I was not seeing the AOD at all most of the time. A factory reset has set it to such that if the phone gets barely moved, the AOD comes up, but tapping or picking it up quickly will almost always go to the lock screen (but then sometimes it will go to the AOD too when picking it up quickly) so it's clearly bugged somehow as the behavior is inconsistent, whichever way that Google intended for it to actually be.
Going beyond that, the AOD is pretty useless anyway. Any incoming notifications light up the lock screen. Why can't they just make it like my OnePlus where the notification shows up on a black screen with a full preview when AOD is enabled? This is so much more useful, not to mention battery friendly.
