[Q] Tab 2 P3113 screen shaking. - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Every once and a while the screen moves up about a 1/4 inch, then back down repeatedly several times, then freezes.
Does not happen at any particular place. Happens randomly.
I have to press and release power button to turn off screen. Press power button again to turn screen back on.
Swish from left to right to get back to where I was and all is all right.
Does this sound like a software problem or a hardware problem?
Is there a 'diagnostic' app to search for problems?
Any ideas welcomed.

If you have a custom recovery installed try clearing the dalvik cache, when people try flashing a custom rom and screen's display got displaced people clear it and it works again like before, if that doesn't works then try reflashing the stock rom

screen wont come on but I still have audio

So I've had my Transformer for several months now and it's been great. Today was the first time I've had this issue where my screen wont come back on but I can still hear emails and other audio happen in the background. This happened earlier today and then suddenly the screen came back on. Well about an hour ago it happened again. I tried turning the screen on and nothing but i'm still getting audio.
I've tried holding down the power button for 5+ seconds to try to get it to power off but it's not turning off that i'm aware of. Is there some other type of combo i can do to try to get it to respond? I've also pressed the power button, vol up and vol down to make sure no button is accidentally held in.
Any help? I would like to get this working again and not have to RMA it. I'm also running Prime v1.82 ROM.
When the screen went dark were you moving the TF at all? Any recent jarring? Sounds like possibly a connection has come loose. Just a thought.

how can i check the connection? Is there a "how to" for accessing the internals of this unit? I would like to check that before sending the unit back if possible.

Try holding down the Power + VolDown key at the same time. This will reboot your device...
I don't know if this pertains to your particular issue but are you running a different launcher? If so it may want you to choose which launcher at startup. If the picker window pops up and doesn't show because of a bug in Honeycomb the screen will go dark and you won't see the picker window. When it does it again try turning the screen to portrait and then back again to landscape and see if the picker window will show. Of course you will need to have Auto Rotate screen checked on in the settings for you to do this also.
I had this happen one day on my phone, and it was the launcher issue....

Power button problem

My power button has started acting funny... when I press it it doesn't work. And worse, it turns the screen on and off by itself (like I was pushing it).
Also sometimes the back button takes screenshots instead of "back".
For the moment I use a setting in ViperS that allows me to turn the screen on with VolUp and and off with VolDown, and also attributed another action to the power button so it doesn't turn the screen on and off by itself (with Button Remapper).
The problem appeared when I was on Bruce's CM10 (though i don't think this is the problem), and then I hardly flashed ViperS.
Has anyone had this problem? Any solutions?
I hope this isn't hardware related... (It isn't under warranty)
did you check if the back cover is pushing the button somehow and it is always pressing the contact for screen off/on the device?

Yes. It's the same thing with the cover off.

[Q] power button issue (not stuck button I don't think)

Hello everybody,
I have an annoying problem, I am running seans jelly bean 4.0t Rom with the latest update. My issue is when I press my power button once from an off screen state, the screen turns on, shows the power down menu, and then the screen goes black and I get the phone vibrating at every two second intervals. I can do a hard reboot from this point by holding the power button down for ten seconds and the phone will reboot. I have worked around this issue by using the wake screen with volume button feature, but I would like to be able to use my power button again. It does this problem everytime I press it once, it even does it after a clean flash with wiping everything 3x. Has anyone run into this issue before? I have searched for a problem like this, but haven't found any like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advanced

[Q] Bootloop when power button sometimes pressed

Hi everyone!
I think my bootloop problem may be a unique one because it only occurs whenever I press the power button (and I've kinda searched other threads and couldn't find a bootloop issue like mine). But before I explain in depth, here are my specs:
Stock 4.4.4 rom
Rooted, with xposed + gb
ElementalX 1.00 kernel
This problem is a randomly occurring one; when my phone is fine and I press the power button, it almost usually goes into a bootloop. It can either stay on the google screen or last all the way up to the x-boot one. Sometimes from the x-boot screen, it'll reboot again. So I realized that if I randomly press the power button a few times (usually trial and error), the problem goes away sometimes and I boot normally again. However, if I hit the power button again for any reason, the bootloop issue relapses.
Also another thing to note is sometimes when my phone is switched on and operating normally and I press the button, it doesn't always reboot immediately. Sometimes it behaves as if the power button is held down and the power menu pops up in the lockscreen... then subsequently it boot loops.
So I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue to do with the button itself (because I very rarely ever drop my phone. Perhaps about 3 times in the past 8-9 months since Dec 2013?) or it's a software issue...which will mean I've to reflash my stock rom.
Anyone with a similar issue please help! It's kinda driving me nuts cos I can't even unlock my phone without triggering a bootloop...:crying:

Might want to send it in for repair. Mine had the same symptoms about a month ago--spontaneously displaying the power menu, boot loops where I'd need to do a hardware reboot (or whatever it's called, vol up + power) and sometimes it won't wake the screen when I press the power button and act as if I turned it off. Tried to reflash recovery and change roms, same banana. Then suddenly it won't go out of bootloop, sometimes gets to the x-boot and sometimes only until the Google logo. Sent it for repair and lo and behold, hardware problem. I think this is really inherent on some older Nexus 5's with the wobbly power button.
I suggest you do a nandroid backup while you have the chance. Never had a chance myself

sigh, i reflashed stock rom and the problem persisted. i can't even stay on the bootloader screen without it rebooting itself all over again. i guess it's an old nexus 5 hardware problem like you said :/ thanks for sharing!

Sounds like the power button is getting stuck, or shorting out.

[Q]

My Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 randomly will not turn back on by pressing either the power or the home button. I must hold the power button until it reboots. This happens when the screen times out, when I turn it off by tapping the "off" button once or by closing the cover. It does not do this every time. Any ideas?

Its likely a rogue app. Kill all apps then try it. If it hangs look and see what app started running again. You can also check for this with log files. Also clearing cache and Dalvik will solve this.

Thanks. I could not find any misbehaving apps. I ended up doing a factory reset and in the process noticed that my SD card was corrupted. I removed the card after the reset and the problem seemed to go away. I turned it on and off several times throughout the day and also aloud it to timeout. Awoke this morning only to find that the problem still exists, although not as often. The SD card is still removed. Any thoughts?
This happens with my n10.1 2012 occasionally, but always does eventually turn on. That being said, you asked in the wrong forum. Maybe try your tab forum and get better responses.
