[Q] Default storage - Honor 6, 6 Plus Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Honor users
I am running on b313 (H60 l02) for a while.It's pretty stable and fast.
Until recently, my default storage was the internal memory. I switched the default storage to external sd because the internal memory was getting low.
After a day or so, suddenly I get a notification that the micro sd was removed. I remeved it and plugged it back in. The phone wont recognize it anymore. I tried it with my pc and it is still not recognised. I thought that was a concidence.
I bought a new card and after 3 days same freakin thing happened. My best guess is that sd card was somehow corrupted and I dont get how this could happen twice.
I ended up with two micro sd cards bricked, which btw were 32 gb, class 10, and almost no data on my phone.
DId anyone of you experienced problems with the sd cards?
What happens?

never on this phone

Thank you for your reply!
If Im not wrong, you are running the developer version on your honor. Is there any difference between b313 and develope versions?

Never had such problem with my Sandisk 64Go class 10, but heard of same issue with low cost SD cards.

My sd card was supposed to be class 10 too. It was a samsung sd card. I didnt have much time to test the speed, but I dont have any reason to think it was not an original sdcard.

Anyone have Micro SD issue?
I have a ScanDisk 2GB and the Flame always can't read it.
Every reset or the device trun off the card will lost, have to pull it out and put it back to make it read.
Anyone know how to unhide the Extended Rom?

I use SANDISK 2G too
But I do not have this question
Very glad to discuss about FLAME
Advise you to do the form FAT16 format to the memory card
mine also has the same problem, tried to format with FAT also FAT 32 but no luck.
hopefully the WM6 rom will come out soon to fix this issue

Are you sure? WM6 for O2 Xda Flame?
I noticed this issue for quite long time and did some research works on it, currently the best solution is to use those TF cards made in Japan instead of those made in Taiwan. guess should be due to the control chip differences of the cards.
I am using a 2gb Kingston microSD and works well.
My big question is will it support the micro SDHC format for future cards that exceed 2gb?
Same issue with a Sandisk 2 gb. Tried to format in fat16. Not better.
But sometimes, after a softreset or a wakeup the card is available without the need to reinsert it.
I have send an email to the support. They answer 2 gb is not supported. But on the Flame website, it is written that 2 gb is supported.
Patriot 2 GB works fine for me.
Kingston is another brand I recommend, seconded by andyh's comment.
I used to have a similar problem but since i replaced with the new one, problem solved
I have go to the shop and change my micro sd from scandisk to transcend the problem sloved.

SDcard Unexpectedly removing itself!!!???

Ok im about to blow my lid.. this is the second time im experiencing this problem.
Out of no where my sdcard removes itself. Its actually happen to where my G1 freezes, I actually try to reboot and it goes back into sign in!! Wtf!! my contacts are all gone my Gtalk has to sign back in.. THIS SUCKS. I'm currently on Dude 1.3 Rc2.. I'm an loyal dude rom fan and this has never happen to me.
Its happened twice so far and since the last time it happened ive changed my sd's im using a 4gb class2. Dont tell its the class2 cause Ive been using the same class2 since ive had app 2 sd and never experienced this..
Has this ever happen to anyone or is it a known issue if someone, anyone shed some light on my problem i would greatly appreciate it!!
THanks a million!!
Do your apps remove themselves as well when you have to sign back in? Like a normal wipe? Have you tried this with more than one SD card? How long have you had the phone?
Sounds like it could be hardware related...but trying wiping and reinstalling. Also, try not using APPS2SD and see what happens...because obviously, when your SD card stops working on Apps2SD, the background processes being run off the card are going to crash and lock up the phone, and you're needing to sign in because that data was stored on the card as well.
My friend had a defunct phone where not only could the SD card wiggle a little inside its slot, but the entire slot itself came off the board/wiring it was sodered onto, so if you've dropped your phone on that edge, that could be your problem. Every once in a while, it'll connect, but it can still unconnect at any time, like what you're experiencing.
Ext2 format itself!!
I actually noticed that my sd card is formating itself to Ext2(all 4 gbs) everytime this happens!! and its hell to format it back to fat32 this is got me going NUCKIN FUTS!! Ive never dropped my phone the sd card slot is intact and ive had the phone for quiet a while..
Also i use paragon to partition..
is it a 4 gb micro sdcard?
Edit. never mind didn't fully read it. the size of your sd card is your problem. I had a 4 gb and it pissed me off soooo bad. I don't know what it is about then but the phone doesn't like them. sorry.

yeah buddy you're out of luck. buy a different size sd card and you will be good to go. I almost was going to try sending my phone back to t-mobile but then I figured since it started when I changed to that size sd card and I heard that they were having so much trouble with them with this phone that I would try a different sd card first. Switched to a 8gb class 6 sd card that I bought at target and things couldn't be working better.
hope this helps.

sorry, I just found that rude. oh well. but if he is having a problem may not just be the sd card size, the problem may lay within the ROM as you said before. I would try talking to dude and see if it is something on his end. If it is I am sure he would be glad to know about it and fix it.
i had this problem with the 1gb microsd that came with my g1! i had a 16g sandisk class2, and it got fried, so i had to use the original 1g as a temporary...it did that all the time, i was using it for a week or two and at least once a day itd do that sh*t. I never figured it out, i just bought a Transcend 16g class 6...works great. Wish i knew the answer for you guys, though, sorry...Hope you get it figured out...

I don't have an answer, but I hope this can add more info to your puzzle.
Same happens to mine every now and then. No reformat though, just pops up an error saying that the sd card has been removed. Then my custom ringtone (which resides on the sd card) stops being used and it reverts the default.
Am running on JFv1.51 ADP and have the stock standard 1gb sd card that came with the adp.
I don't have apps installed on the card, just the cache.
big nu, I know that you say it doesn't matter if it is a class 2 or not but I would just try a class 6 sd card.

I'm sorry I never ment any disrespect in any way when i said its BS my bad.
This actually used to happen to me even before the cupcake update. I used to used a 4gb class 6 card which eventually got fried..so I'm waiting for a new 1 to come in
I know this will seem really strange, but I noticed a trend throughout all the posts....seems like the G1 doesn't like lower numbers Go with a 16 GB, class 6 card and call it good I never had a problem whatsoever with mine, even though I am currently using an 8GB, and Dude's 1.2b. Once I pick up my 16 gig, I will let (you) know how it runs.
i keep having the same problem and i am running jf 1.51 us no themes or anything

Warnings with SD cards for A2

So I recently ordered a Sandisk Class 4 16 gb sd card for my Atrix 2. I wanted to be able to keep a backup of a ROM at all times while having 500 songs on my phone..but 2 gb just didnt cut it.
So i tried to connect the card with my phones USB cable while having it in the device, but it just wasnt showing up on the computer. I had to end up using a card reader.
It still works...just something to keep in mind while buying SD cards.

thats probably it. I had this happen off and on until I let android format it. my recomendation would be to put it in your computer and format it as fat32 then put it in the phone and have it format it
Thanks a lot ill try that
Although problems do not seem to be prevalent with the slower class cards, it might be a good idea to follow Patriot's advice regarding formatting. The suggestion was posted by Patriot in response to a review of a 32GB class 10 microSDHC.
Patriot acknowledged a problem with hemorrhoid OS and 32GB class 10 cards and suggested a temporary fix of performing a full format on a Windows PC with a 32kb allocation size, obviously FAT32 since stock hemorrhoid does not recognize NFTS.
The reply can be found in this review although the specific page will change if more reviews are added.

Be patient... they'll likely come sooner or later.
I got a 16gb class 4 sandisk and I am formatting it in my computer using following method:
I inserted the memory card in my E71 and connected it to my computer in mass storage mode. Then I started formatting using fat32, 32kb through my computer. But it is taking ages. Since last 2 hours, only 35% is completed. My questions:
1) Can i stop the format in between ? Or will it lead to certain faults?
2) Is the format this slow? Or should I try formatting it by putting it in adaptor and putting the adaptor in laptop slot and then format?

I'm using a Kingston 32GB Class 4 card, which is actually in my SGS3 now from my A2, and I have never seen anything to complain about with it. I still hit high benchmark scores as noted with my A2 as well as my SGS3, thinking though that I may try a higher rated class sdcard for the SGS3, since it doesn't seem to have the issues that the A2 has seen. But, a little more digging around has to be done before I make that kind of jump! (Better safe than sorry!) But, yes, the Class 10 cards will -eventually- give you grief if you try to use one with the A2. Not sure the 'scientifically-proven' answer to give here, just know that from everything I have seen, which has been substantial enough for me to believe that...

You should try a re-formatting of the sdcard, as you likely have some corrupted app data/other data that is causing the rebooting. A Class 4 card should give you no problems like this, unless you have some issues like I just mentioned.
And if you're trying to restore app data from, say, Titamium Backup, I recommend you do not do this. Just try a fresh format of the card, and do not restore data to it. Run your phone afterward for a good while to test. If your phone continues to reboot after you have tried this, changes are that you can rule out the possibility of the cause being due to the sdcard, and we can explore other possible known culprits...

+1 formatting the SD is good...I've had this card in three other devices and it works flawlessly after formatting when major changes are made. (FXZ, SBF, switching ROMs ect.)

I just put an 8gb class 4 SD card in my phone. I formatted it via the phone twice and rebooted. My camera saves pictures and videos that say they can't be opened when I try to go play them. And Doggcatcher has the majority of my podcast downloads failing. This has persisted after a couple reformats. Thoughts?

Sandisk 64GB MicroSD is not liking the S4

Don't buy this SD. I don't know why, Sandisk usually make good SD cards, but i'm at my 3rd and i still have the same issues. I decided to buy a Samsung 64GB SDXC UHS-1 Pro and i've had none of the issues. This card was about 20$ more but its was well worth it. I bought my 64GB at bestbuy, after 2 weeks i exchanged it for another, then after another 3 weeks i had to RMA because bestbuy didn't honor the rest of the warranty, i got the new one back and again the same issues.
The issues are:
- the sd would not be recognized by the system once every 2-3 reboots
- it would put my status to custom once i transfered music onto it
- it would eject for no reason (did that twice)
- it heats up really quickly when i have stuff on the SD like pictures or files
- it would freeze when opening music app, i had to reboot my phone to fix
I've seen many others with issues with Samdisk 64GB cards, so this thread is just to tell you that you are not alone, and buy Samsung Instead.
Weird, I have had the same Sandisk 64GB that I bought a year ago for my S2, used in S3, and in use now with my S4. I liked it so much I bought one for my wife's phone recently and we have no issues with them.
Not saying that your wrong or anything, but that sucks you went through three with the same behavior...

I don't know about you, but double twist is basically PITA. The double twist always messed up my alarm sound (usually song), that was stored on the external drive. Initially it worked fine, but some update broke lots of things in the app, and this happened when I was using Galaxy S3. I don't use that app anymore and I have given that app 2 stars. Also, if you think that those 2 apps are causing the issue, then it might be an issue with those apps and not the sd card. Though, I never experienced issue about 'system not recognizing the sd card'.

That would be true IF the samsung SD card would react the same way, but it doesn't. If you check all my post in the past 2 months, i have done A LOT of research and troubleshooting before making those claims. I have isolated the issue to the SD card, and the only way i could confirm my claims would be to buy a new one, which i did and it did confirm my troubleshooting was correct

My phone is rooted but otherwise stock. Sd card is formatted fat32 in last phone and I regularly move it between phones. I don't doubt that some people have bad cards, but I don't think the phone is doing it, but it is hard to tell with the limited data.

I would not say impossible, but highly unlikely. There are going to be bad cards made - no doubt about it. But the volume of bogus ones is huge, and I still believe that is the basis of most problems.

Device status says Official, no padlock, and running TWRP with GoldenEye ROM. Same results when I ran stock too without custom recovery.
I have the same one and its working great for me! I was having a bit of trouble with the phone always reading it on exFat, but as soon as i reformatted to Fat32, my Galaxy S4 has had no issues since then! With Foldermount allowing me to store Play Store apps onto my SD card, it lets me use it for everything to make up for the poor 9GB of useable storage on the internal SD.

Official. I'm on Stock. Using the 64GB micro SDXC Class 10 UHS-1 card. Formatted w/ exFAT (because I have larger than 4GB files on my card).
Same as the previous 2 posters. No issues here with the Sandisk. I did buy the Sandisk micro SDXC card that is marketed directly for phones. I know Sandisk makes another one (same specs) but the package says it's for cameras.
Not sure if it really matters, but I opted for the one for phones just in case it was "built" differently.
For reference (model numbers)
Sandisk Camera micro SDXC card: SDSDQUI-064G
Sandisk Phone/Mobile micro SDXC card: SDSDQUA-064G
I have sandisk 64g and has worked with g3 and g4..for a year now...must use fat32 period.

I have this card and every time I reboot my S4 tells me my microSD is corrupt. I proceed to reboot again and everything is fine. It is rather annoying. I'm rooted, stock recovery and ROM. SD card is formatted exFat.
I'm outside of return to my electronics store so looks like i'm stuck with it and forced to reboot twice every time I need to reboot

[Q] LTE 32Gb version - bugs with software update and emails

Hello
I purchased a LTE version of the Note Pro 12.2 tablet this week and have spotted a few bugs. After some research it seems that they are not unique to me but thought I should share in case anyone has a fix or is thinking of buying one of these devices and may appreciate knowing the limitations in advance.
First of all, Software Update. Whenever you check for a software update the device says it has been modified and no software update is available. I haven't (yet) but sure enough in About Device it shows as 'Custom'. I attempted a firmware reinstall through Kies which worked fine, Knox Warranty showed 0x0 and binary showed as official but still have the same problem when attempting OTA updates. Others having the same problem are being stalled by Samsung Service Centres whilst they look into the issue.
Second, there seems to be a problem with the Email app which causes FC every time you click on 'Attachments' in an email. Seems to be SD card related (I'm using 64gb) as it doesn't happen when SD card is unmounted.
Anyone else had these? Any suggestions for a fix?
Thank you.
Both issues are related. Folks have reported "no OTA available" because of issues related to the SD card. Try moving your files off of it, reformatting it (ideally on your N12 or another Samsung device, then moving your files back on to it. I bet if you take the SD card out the "no OTA" problem goes away.
Interesting...
I was experiencing a few issues with my Note Pro 12.2 wifi model. Only after I inserted a 64 gb card. the 32 gb card works great, however some apps are not having a few issues with not being able to read/write to the sdcard...
Namely ES File Explore, usually an almost perfect app, now it is not liking KK very well...
I wonder how it will act when I get the 128 gb sd card...

Ah sorry I should have said I tried the usual fix-all routine of unmounting, removing and rebooting. No luck this time. Have also just tried with a 32gb card and had the same problem.

Good luck with that, the Software Update issue definitely seems to be limited to LTE versions.
KK does seem to cause some SD card issues, Pocket Casts can no longer save to SD card as the permissions and routines it used aren't there in KK anymore. I wish Google and Samsung would just agree on whether or not to support SD cards rather than a half-hearted attempt. Funnily enough, Google Play Music has no issues at all with the SD card.
dan,
where did you get the LTE model?
