[Q] reverting back to kitkat help - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
can someone explain to me step by step how to revert back from crippled version CM12S YNG1TAS0YL to CM11S XNPH05Q,
both version are stock and rooted.
i have nandroid backup (boot , data, system of kitkat), and latest twrp 2.8.6.0, i assume that i cant simply restore image of kitkat through nandroid.
Do i need to flash first radio and modem of 4.4 ,where to find i how to do it ?
Or first factory reset and flash signed 11s.zip and then modem, radio.....its confusing for some noob

Never done it--dunno. Peek around the OnePlus One forums a little--there are a few stickies.

Someone there said first flash the ROM, then the modem--which seems to agree with the way the instructions I first showed you were written.
Then your nandroid--which must of course be from KitKat also.

Boot into TWRP, flash firmware, flash modem, reboot back into TWRP, restore backup.
Firmware:

thank you timmaaa
no need then to flash full cm-11.0-XNPH05Q-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip , just cm-11-firmware-20141224.zip and Full-XNPH05Q-modem-flashable.zip ?
is it wiping internal storage after all recommended, cause i have some leftovers of some previous apps and etc. ?

That's right, just those two files is fine. You don't need to wipe your internal storage.

Look in the TWRP thread, TWRP has an option to flash OTA`s and keep root. Don`t know if it also applies for the Moto G yet. You can receive an OTA but you can`t install it directly when you have a custom recovery installed.

Allright. And if i alrdy flashed CWM, can i just "overflash" it with a TRMP image or any other Stock Recovery image via fastboot?
Thanks for your help!

Look in the CWM thread too, maybe it has the OTA flashing option too. Yes, you can overwrite a custom recovery with a new custom recovery but also in cmd type: fastboot erase cache after you flash a new recovery.

Well i haven`t rooted my Moto G myself, but if the OTA flash option is not available in CWM/TWRP you have to flash a stock image to get the OTA or flash a KK based custom rom.

Well. So i just have to extract a Stock Recovery Image from an 4.3 Stock Rom. Flash it via fastboot and then erase cache and im fine?
Can i stay on the Infusion Rom too?

No, OTA`s can only be installed on a stock rom, kernel and recovery. If anything is altered or vital system components deleted the OTA will not install.

Have you tried flashing stock rom? Since you are already in fastboot mode, easy to give it a try.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img,
fastboot boot recovery.img ,
and copy the rom to the storage.
Just reboot into recovery and flash a ROM.

There's nothing to suggest that you've lost any data, just clean flash a ROM and boot it up.

so i would have to just put a rom in the same folder as the fastboot, then fastboot flash rom.zip?

How to backup stock recovery image?

I'm running the 24.65-33.1 firmware of my 1GB XT1543, which still doesn't have a download link from the firmware thread

Do you want to backup your current recovery image, or are you looking for a copy of the correct one?
If you want to backup your existing one, boot (not flash) TWRP and backup your stock recovery.

Help with fastboot!

Will flashing cos13 through fastboot also wipe my internal storage? My bootloader is already unlocked.
Thanks!
Edit: I think flashing Userdata will wipe my internal storage.
Is there any way to avoid it and still be on cos13?

Don't use fastboot, use TWRP

And one more thing, Is there any way to flash cm12.1 based ROMs over 6.0 ROMs? Like with some firmware..without getting back to cos12.*?

Yes, first you have to wipe everything (not internal storage), then you have to flash cm12.1 stock firmware and cm12.1 based ROM. All this can be made using twrp and ROMs_signed.zip

I think you misunderstand. Hurupdater is for flashing Stock ROMs. Not Backups. You can use Hurupdater to revert to stock from a custom ROM and then Reflash it. It is not a tool for taking or restoring backups. Trying that might lead to a hard brick

HuRupdater will only work with FULL OTA's (approx >= 2 . 3GB)
After renaming the 3 files as directed and flashing them you will end up with a working stock phone.
