Help with fastboot! - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Will flashing cos13 through fastboot also wipe my internal storage? My bootloader is already unlocked.
Thanks!
Edit: I think flashing Userdata will wipe my internal storage.
Is there any way to avoid it and still be on cos13?

And one more thing, Is there any way to flash cm12.1 based ROMs over 6.0 ROMs? Like with some firmware..without getting back to cos12.*?

Yes, first you have to wipe everything (not internal storage), then you have to flash cm12.1 stock firmware and cm12.1 based ROM. All this can be made using twrp and ROMs_signed.zip

Switching back to lollipop

Hey everyone,
Sorry for simple question.
I am currently on 6.0.1 custom rom on my XT1550
Can I directly flash snapshot of cm12? I mean getting back to lollipop?
Or do I have to flash bootloader first? Can anyone help me?
Yes, u can switch back. Before that wipe everything including internal memory
You can clean flash as said above, in addition to that no need of downgrading the bootloader, the current one should be fine as you are trying to flash a custom rom.

Thank you for replying. Also I saw an optimized stock 5.1.1 rom for MOTOG3 but it was mentioned to flash modem. But you told me just flashing the rom was enough! Sorry I'm in doubt. Do I have to flash modem each time downgrading to lollipop roms?

Unless your phone came with marshmallow, or you upgraded it via ota to marshmallow, or used fastboot guide to flash marshmallow files, then you would already be running lollipop modem. It should work fine IMO.
In case rom fails to boot or network is lost you can use lost101's fastboot firmware flashing guide to flash lollipop modem (but in that case I recommend you to ask in the respective threads to be more clear).

You're really helpful. Thank you. One last thing, will flashing modem wipe my internal storage? I intend to keep my internal storage files intact after flashing. Or it is compulsory to wipe internal storage as well?

If you are going to flash cm12.1 snapshot, no need to flash anything... Just rom and gapps. As far as internal memory is concerned, its not necessary to wipe.

Well, flashing modem should not format internal, but i advise to backup just in case prior to attempting.
If it's a .zip file then most probably it won't touch internal storage . If you are using fastfoot method then only command fastboot flash modem one should be used.
Flashing internal is advised in case of rom switch, a hardware level firmware like a modem shouldn't need it. (Others can correct me, if wrong)[emoji16]

Yes but it also installs the OS as well. You want a clean slate completely, if possible, so best to wipe it again before flashing a custom ROM.

Its for the encryption. So if you flash custom roms it doesnt show "data is encrypted" in your first boot. Thats what i've read.
You can always try flashing without wiping internal and see.

Good day! Never failed to flash the rom in this way, the rollback to the nougat is made, the necessary recovery is loaded - an error 1. Tell me what might be the matter?
first, can i flash rom on both partion a and b ?
why after flash and rebooting to twrp again pation change to B?
why not flash magisk and gapps on same partion with first installation?

-Do not flash it on both slots.
-The reason it switches between A and B, is because the rom gets installed on the second partition and not the partition you are on when you flash it (i think).
-And you can't flash magisk or gapps because, like what i've said before, the rom gets flashed on the other slot.
Im not 100% sure that's how it works, so don't quote me.
I've flashed viperos having no issues. I had flashed nougat firmware before that. Now in order to flash another rom, do I have to flash stock nougat firmware again or is it ok that I just clean wipe and flash new rom?

Yes, if you have TWRP you can flash it with it. Extrqct the persist.img from the fastboot rom and copy it to your phone. Now restart the phone in TWRP, go to Mount and put a tick on the persist partition. Then go to install, click on select as an image and flash the persist.img.

It is strange that you don't have a persist partition on this TWRP. I'm on the unofficial version 3.2.2.0 provided in the pink that I posted. My phone is running Miui 10. You can try the unofficial version.

[HELP] After Updated to MIUI 12.5.1 Flashed TWRP and Magisk >> Resulted Bootloop

Buddies, please urgent help. I flashed V12.5.1.0.RJKMIXM without problem and it was working. I had lost twrp and magisk and thought it won't be a problem to flash them back. By a silly mind I flashed twrp and magisk 21.4.zip again. Now The phone doesn't boot and bootloop after MIUI screen. I have very important data on my phone and I can't see data partition. From twrp, When I click select storage, internal Storage (0.00 MB) seems 0 MB. I never clicked on wipe data option after flashing magisk. I only wiped dalvik and cache.
How can I save my data? It seems there is no fastboot rom to flash. I am downloading recovery ROM again to give it a try. I hope it saves me. Please give me suggestions if you have any.
thanks beforehand... :'(

Yes as you said all twrp versions are the same. It is due to A11. I will try to root the device with boot.img.
I need root for backing up apps with swift backup app. I also need it for some apps.
I realized that I can see internal storage data without formatting the phone. I just changed TWRP from ManuelBlanco's to LR Team's via fastboot and the internal storage became visible. I think this is easier than formatting the whole phone every time changing ROM.
However Magisk pathched boot.img doesn't work. Phone bootloops with that boot. I reflashed original boot.img I don't know why Magisk doesn't work properly...
