Hi there, first, sorry for my english but I'm trying
I have a problem(solved probably many times but it isn't working for me, am I doing something wrong?).
So, from beggining. Few days after update my SGS4 to 5.01 Lollipop original(I've never modified this phone), I've got a problem with physical keys, there were no answer from all of them(include menu and back key). So, to check if it is hardware problem, I've get thru download and recovery mode - working, but in recovery mode I couldn't move thru volume up/down buttons(there was no answer from them).
So, decision, flashing by official firmware. I've downloaded this one( I9505XXUHOB7_I9505XEOHOB3_I9505XXUHOB7_HOME ) and then, fun has gone thru pain in ass. After flashing thru Odin, phone is showing logo for a dunno, 0.5 second and whole screen get's dark. Like it couldn't get to whole booting sequention. The same when I'm trying to get to recovery mode. Even there is no blue sign up in the screen...
Now the question, what I'm done wrong? I've tried with pit file and nothing else happen. Can someone pls tell me what should I do, what should I download and flash?
And sorry to mods for post in general category but I cannot put this(or even ask in relevant question) in proper section...
anyone has no clue...?

You shouldn't play with the pit files...
Just go to sammobile and find the firmware for your phone and flash it with odin in the pda section.

Yeah, I've tried this. After uploading data to the phone, it's restarting, samsungs logo appears for half minute and it seems that he is turning off after that time. Wtf? Of course after turning on, the same story, logo for 0.5 second and this is it...

Very interesting.... maybe you should go to recovery and do a full wipe. Power button + home button + volume up

got my phone rooted with super on click worked fine and put voodoo on it and still worked fine but went into rom mananger that i downloaded and forgot to disable lagfix and tried to download the superfast rom in rom manager and seemed like it downloaded and then rebooted and now stuck on samsung screen tried to do manual recovery by pressing volume up and down with the power button and its flashes but does nothing please help if can THANKS
Same Problem
Yeah I had rooted my friend's phone because he had asked me and I told him that if he ever ran into any problems I would fix it. After I rooted it and gave it to him I told him not to mess with certain apps because he would not be able to use them correctly and f**k something up real good.
Guess what he did, f**k up his phone real good.
Now whenever you try to turn on the phone it only shows the "SAMSUNG" splash screen and stays there, never goes further.
I figured ok, let's just do a recovery.
NOPE!
The exact same thing happens. Hold down both volume buttons + power, let logo flash, let go. "SAMSUNG" pops up, wait, wait, wait, "SAMSUNG" still there. I even let it sit for 30min once and it was still on the splash screen when I came back.
HELP ME because I really want my friend to get the best root experience possible and I just feel bad giving him the tools to make his phone unusable.
Enter download mode by pressing "down volume+home key+power key"
You need to get a stock rom and flash it with Odin. Search the forum, you will find it.
Yes, but odin requires .tar files and I cannot seem to find any .tar stock roms, only .zip 's.
If you know of one please point us into the right direction please
Thanks
Sorry for the double post, but this is worth it.
I figured out how to fix this problem.
I found this page here in which you can restore your phone to mezmerize default. This takes it from non working to working.
Once it is working flash CWM using the files and directions here
Then I was able to restore to a previous backup or flash a new rom.

Great ! Problem-o-solved
background: rooted and was running 4.1 stock and CWM 10.0 on verizon gs3. i wanted to bump up to jelly bean 4.2 with CWM 10.1.
first i tried using Rom Manager and Rom Toolkit to flash a new rom. from Rom Manager, i rebooted into recovery and got stuck on the CWM boot screen.
After 30 minutes or so i pulled the battery and tried flashing the stock .tar.md5 using Odin and ended up with this:
"System software not authorized by verizon wireless has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest verizon wireless store for help."
now i can't boot into download or recovery. i just have this screen with the yellow exclamation point and the above message.
how screwed am i? i've tried reading everywhere and from what i can gather i didn't wipe my cache sufficiently, but all the other threads just say 'use Odin to get back to stock', but i can't get into download mode so i can't use odin.
please help.
You're bootloader wasn't unlocked. Pull the battery then hold power, volume down, and home for fifteen or twenty seconds until it boots into download mode. Odin flash a stock rom then root AND ALSO unlock your bootloader.

I have noticed that a lot of people have not unlocked the bootloader are posting on here that they have "bricked" their phones.

Ha, I agree although I think its occurred in decreasing fashion since August. Being "bricked" is used overeagerly by folks not wholly understanding their situation. You really have to try to brick this device before that word can be used correctly.
Your phone has not been bricked. You will know that you have bricked your phone when you can't turn on your phone at all. No download mode and no recovery mode also no pulling of the battery just a dead phone.
ClockworkMod
When you fix your phone, root then unlock the bootloader... You can try RM again but I believe that it is best to use ClockworkMod (or the Touch version) for flashing instead of ROM Manager - old fashion, maybe, but it works!
NOTE: Once you start flashing it becomes addictive - you have been warned
thanks for the comments. my apologies for using the term Brick incorrectly as it seems to really chap the cheeks of some people on this board (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2149210)
no luck with holding down buttons with the battery pulled. i ordered a USB Jig to try and force it back into download mode.
From there, what should my first step be? return to stock?

I was trying to root my Galaxy Tab 2 for the first time. The process started, but failed. Now I'm stuck on the "firmware upgrade encountered an issue" screen. The device will turn off and back on, but remains on error screen. Seems to be trapped in download mode (as I can still see the download progress bar). Go Mobile and Odin say the device has connected to PC.
Anyone know of anything to fix this? Should I just revert to stock ROM and try again later?

I cannot boot into download mode. When I turn it off, it simply flashes off for a few secs then goes back to the error screen on its own. Does the same thing when I turn it back on myself. No logo screen. No droid. Nothing.
EDIT: Unplugged device entirely and retried the stock ROM in Odin. Finally worked! Looks like it might be fixed now.

I think my cord might have an issue (or they're just testy in general). I was noticing the battery wasn't fully charging for a while before all this. After the whole brick issue, I plugged it in to charge and it started flashing the "loading charge (empty battery + loading circle)" screen on and off until I unplugged and re-plugged it. I suspect that this is why the rooting failed in the first place.
Hi you may use cf auto root for gt p5113 with odin.this happend to me couple days ago.

I also bricked my tablet. Searched wide and low for ideas on how to fix. But I can't find a thing. I cannot get into Odin mode or recovery. Just hangs on the battery charging screen. My windows 7 computer can't even recognize it in Kies or odin. Yes the tablet is rooted.
Okay so I bought this S6, 2 days ago from a guy really cheap. I have some experience with Samsung devices so I thought I could fix it piece of cake turns out I can't. So I got twrp, and download mode working and I can transfer files to the phone while in twrp no problem. Download mode works fine too. The problem I have is that whatever I do the phone shows the "Samsung Galaxy S6, powered by android" logo and then the screen turns black. The little led light keeps shining blue light and the phone even vibrates sometimes.
At first I though that I could just flash stock 6.0.1 rom though odin and I did that. Same problem black screen (I got the firmware from sammobile). After that I tried the tyrannus rom and I followed his instruction and same problem again. At last I tried XtreStoLite and same problem. A guy in another thread told me that I need to reflash a kernel so I tried the SpaceX MM Kernel and still the same problem.
Oh almost forgot the device is the SM-G920F.
Any thoughts?
So you have TWRP, format all data.
Download the modem and bootloader for MM and flash with odin in download mode.

I've done exactly that and now I tried it again. So after everything is flashed I get the "Samsung Galaxy S6, powered by android" and then a blue droid logo that said "Installing system update" and something about erasing data, then it went back to "Samsung Galaxy S6, powered by android" and then black screen with a blue/cyan light. How long should I wait on that screen? I waited about 10 minutes and then I got a vibration from the phone but still black with the light. The samsung boot animation should come up if it's working right?

I clicked "backup" and it says that Boot is 28MB, System 3352MB, Data 766MB, Cache 0MB, Modem 42MB and EFS 2MB. This is so weird, I've never had this problem on any phone. By the way I let it "boot" for 20 minutes and after that vibration I got nothing more out of it.
EDIT: I tried to get it to boot again by just pressing reboot in twrp and now the "Samsung Galaxy S6, powered by android" keeps poping up and then it turns black and then it pops up again.

Should that matter? The guy I bought the phone from said that it was unlocked and I've tried to flash the Nordic firmware from Sammobile. There's 2 swedish stock firmwares, one is "Tre" and the other one is "VDS". I don't know what "VDS" means even though I tried to google it and Tre should be really bad for my reception. So after flashing the Sweden(VDS) it went back to the black screen, so I did a battery pull vol down + power and then I tried to start it again. Now it got to 2 cog wheels spinning and saying Android is starting optimizing app x out of 32. Then it went to Android is starting and starting apps. I waited there for 10 minutes and I got a vibration and then nothing, the cog wheels only kept spinning. Seems like it got stuck there. So I did the battery pull again, black screen then I tried to do a factory reset in the stock recovery and nothing change. Now I'm getting the black screen again.
This is so weird :crying:
OK! Try to flash it again and when you see optimizing turn the phone off. Then make a factory reset and boot up to see what is going to do.

Okay, so I flashed the Sweden(VDS) and then when it booted it ended up with black screen, and then I did the battery pull and I got back to the android is starting screen with the cog wheel. Then I turned the phone off and and did a factory reset with samsungs recovery. Then when I started it I ended up with black screen again so I did a battery pull once again and started it. Then I got to the Android is starting screen with the cog wheels again, it changed the language to swedish though. Then it started optimizing apps xx of 34 and now its stuck at Android is starting starting apps. Do you think this might be a hardware problem? I'm have no clue what to do anymore.
Right now I'm downloading the Sweden(Tre) stock rom from sammobile, will report back later of if there's some changes.
If it is a hardware problem I can't think of what could it be. Anyways, waiting on the report. Hope this will work!
@Nedrozak Okay after a break I continued to try, the Sweden(Tre) firmware won't flash in odin. I've also tried to flash the phone in Kies and Smart Switch PC. Both programs ended up the same as before with the black screen with the blue led light. I couldn't even get it to the optimizing screen. I've also tried 5.1.1 and I can get it to the optimizing apps screen too, 5.0.2 can't be flashed.
I also found out using Kies and Smart Switch PC that the original firmware the phone used to have is the NEE firmware (Nordic Countries). Tomorrow I might go and ask some tech shop to estimate a repair cost, I might be able to get a new motherboard too for free we'll see what happens. I'm like out of options anyway seems like no one else on this forum seems to have the same problem so maybe it's the hardware that's faulty.
The last thing I might try is a custom rom like cyanogenmod, that I can try to flash otherwise I'm out of ideas, and energy too :silly:
Maybe leave it on cogwheels Android is starting and Starting apps during night? Then I'm afraid that the screen will burn and the screen in almost new and worth a bit of money.

If you're just faced with a black screen when you try to access download mode, try to plug it in with odin and see if it's detecting anything?
I've been in a similar situation where you are now, and by pressing the combinations for download mode for maybe 30 sec the phone restarted itself a couple of times and evetually I got download mode.
One other time I held the combination and I thought I got into download mode but my screen was still black, and just for the fun of it I plugged it into my computer and opened odin.
Odin said "Added", I flashed stock, wiped everything, restarted and it worked! I then flashed stock rom completely again for safety reasons.
