[Q] stuck in boot loop on showcase - General Questions and Answers

got my phone rooted with super on click worked fine and put voodoo on it and still worked fine but went into rom mananger that i downloaded and forgot to disable lagfix and tried to download the superfast rom in rom manager and seemed like it downloaded and then rebooted and now stuck on samsung screen tried to do manual recovery by pressing volume up and down with the power button and its flashes but does nothing please help if can THANKS

Same Problem
Yeah I had rooted my friend's phone because he had asked me and I told him that if he ever ran into any problems I would fix it. After I rooted it and gave it to him I told him not to mess with certain apps because he would not be able to use them correctly and f**k something up real good.
Guess what he did, f**k up his phone real good.
Now whenever you try to turn on the phone it only shows the "SAMSUNG" splash screen and stays there, never goes further.
I figured ok, let's just do a recovery.
NOPE!
The exact same thing happens. Hold down both volume buttons + power, let logo flash, let go. "SAMSUNG" pops up, wait, wait, wait, "SAMSUNG" still there. I even let it sit for 30min once and it was still on the splash screen when I came back.
HELP ME because I really want my friend to get the best root experience possible and I just feel bad giving him the tools to make his phone unusable.

Enter download mode by pressing "down volume+home key+power key"
You need to get a stock rom and flash it with Odin. Search the forum, you will find it.

Yes, but odin requires .tar files and I cannot seem to find any .tar stock roms, only .zip 's.
If you know of one please point us into the right direction please
Thanks

Sorry for the double post, but this is worth it.
I figured out how to fix this problem.
I found this page here in which you can restore your phone to mezmerize default. This takes it from non working to working.
Once it is working flash CWM using the files and directions here
Then I was able to restore to a previous backup or flash a new rom.
YAY

I *think* forum.sdx-developers DOT com/epic-development/clockworkmod-recovery-for-the-epic-4g!-build-20!-beta/ (sorry, I'm not allowed to post hotlinks yet) is the post he was referring to.
Most likely that's the "standard" android recovery mode. If you were using ROM Manager to reboot into recovery, then try powering off and using the three-finger reboot into recovery instead (volume down, camera, and power). That usually works for me and reboots into ClockworkMod recovery instead, where everything works fine.

Thanks to all who replied. I got it working. This is actually not my phone. it belongs to a friend. I own the Fascinate and find it a little easier to mod. I am however happy I am having the opportunity to brick this phone because I am learning a lot. I am still used to my Motorola Droid 1 Being completely open and easy to mod. I have only been working with these Samsungs for a couple of days.
Edit:Yes I did mean to say brick as I have bricked and recovered three times now. I dont understand the people who don't enjoy doing this sort of thing. I have been having a blast with Android since my first introduction with it on the G1. Now can someone help me with issue #2? I have installed the OTA update and then Rooted with the one click v2.2.6 then reinstalled clockwork recovery. Everything is working great except...The market will not download. It runs and searches just fine but seems to be getting stuck on the starting download. I have been unable to download any apps.
I am stuck in ClockWork recovery mode
Can some one help me on this? I boot my epic to ClockWork recovery but now I am not able to get out of it. Every time I try to select anything and hit HOME button, the screen goes off and doing nothing and if I hit HOME button again, it goes back to Clockwork recovery mode. I even took out battery and put back in and try to reboot it, it still goes back to recovery mode. Am I missing something? Please help.
Thanks,
Hien Khieu.

[Q] Galaxy S wont start after lag fix

Hello,
Im running Froyo on my Galaxy S. And recently I tried to install ryanZA's one click lag fix. When doing this it said its rebooting and finalizing but the phone turned off and when starting it stops at Galaxy S welcome screen and start vibrating time to time after that. Screen disappears but the phone keeps on vibrating time to time.
The reason I was trying to install this was my notification bar, it gets stuck most of the time and I was trying to get rid of that. In most places I read that its a memory issue and the lag fix would fix it if it was installed.
I installed the one click lag fix from the market, it needed rooting. then again from most of the suggestions I installed z4 root on the phone. It worked.
And while I was trying to apply the one click lag fix and it rebooted, it wont boot. welcome screen comes and goes, and after half an hour its till vibrating with 20 second interval.
Please help me, im very scared that I bricked my phone.
What can I do to fix this?
You need ODIN. here---->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821625 (only works with windows OS) You need samsung drivers installed.
You need to get into download mode. Hold down both volume buttons and plug in usb cable(while cable is plugged into computer), that should get you into download mode.
If you can get into download mode, and odin recognizes your phone, download these files here--->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475 and put them in their respective places.
Hit start and done, let the phone reboot.
Try looking around here something in here might help you out if you get stuck. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=708
**Edit these files are only for the Vibrant SGH-T959**

Hello, thanks for your reply. I see what you mean by this, but do I really want :
T959 (US T-Mobile version of the Galaxy S)?
Mine simply is not this - bought it unlocked in UK as Galaxy S.
Will it be the same?
thanks
Hey mate, please confirm this :/ Im seeing lots of different stuff as I'm googling around.
Not sure what to do, someone please help
Ok reset to factory settings from the recovery screen.
all Data lost but at least its working.
;(
Oh wow sorry, I didn't even notice that you never mentioned vibrant. Dont try to flash those files it will probably mess up your phone.
Glad you got it working.

NOT only got it working =, but after extensive research I installed speedMod kernel, that will probably solve all my problems.
Thanks tho.
Ok, I will Assume you have a I9000 Galaxy S phone. That is the European phone
You will need to Odin back or use Heimdall to get back to Stock, 2.1 variety of some sorts. Check the development and general section in the I9000 forum. You will get all the info and files needed to accomplish this.
Then Once you have it back to stock 2.1 , then root the phone/ Then Download Rom manager. From there you will be able to do anything you want to the phone.
Do not use Ryanza lagfix use Voodoo it is preferred for this phone over all others. Also, All the new Custom Roms usually have it pre-installed already.
You will need the following files:
Samsung drivers for the computer
Stock 2.1 Tar File
Pit 512 (this is for mapping) file
Odin 1.7 or higher
After you are in stock Then you can then root/ download rom-mgr/ then flash any Custonm rom of your choice (Like Darky's9.3, etc)
Good luck
Cheers
Thank you.
The problem has been solved by going into recovery mode and doing a factory reset. All DATA has been sacrificed.
Then i flashed it with speedMod kernel. Its much better now.
Thanks for the reply anyway.

just added the pit file too.... read my edited instructions
and yes it is a big file and will take you back to stock unrooted... but better than not being able to use your phone.
either way, all you have to do is Odin a ROM that will root your phone automatically (like Humble)
its easy
Yea i got the pit file cause thats the only part i remembered seeing somewhere else.
When i rooted this i had to put the tar file though. Dont need that huh?
Wow i guess one click root is just flashing a ROM thru ODIN.
Okay i got ODIN ready just waiting for this huge file to finish.
I thanked your post, i appreciate this.
Yea id rather download 30 gigs than be bricked out of a phone...

The recommendation I hear most often is for 7-Zip, although I've also used jZip. You need to install either of these, then you should be able to unzip the .7z files.
Okay cool i got it unzipped and it ends in md5 now, checking to see if odin finds it
I plugged it in and my backlight keys are just blinking, tried doing the vol up thing and all that but nothing....... my stomach is upside down.
also even though its not in download mode odin still found it, is it safe without being in download mode?
Pleaseeeeee somebody !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Power off phone and remove battery, then open odin on your pc
2. Hold volume down and THEN connect phone to pc, your phone should have the yellow android triangle on the screen and odin should recognize it if you have the drivers installed and say COM something in the first blank box at the top
3. Let go of volume button and put battery back in, then proceed to add your files (also check the "Re-Partition" box and uncheck "Auto Reboot")
4. Press Start and let it run, when it's done unplug it from your pc and remove battery
5. Put battery back in and power on
Now you'll be completely stock and can proceed from there

[Q] samsung galaxy stellar sch 1200

Hey! from my phone, it freezes on the samsung image when is boots up. It stays there forever. I'm pretty sure it is bricked. I rooted my phone, then tried to install some kind of font switch that is required for a root phone. After that it told me to restart my phone, did exactly that, and now my phone is stuck on the samsung logo screen. I have odin, and now im just looking for a stock rom for it. I did a factory reset, but that didnt work either. Can anybody help me?

oh yea... its for verizon by the way.
Did you install the verizon update manager? You should be able to do a repair. As for the stock Rom we are working on that right now.
Oh and you can follow us on these sites so you can keep up with what we're doing with the phone:
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-stellar-4g-lte-all-things-root/

WELL... thanks. And no i didn't install the verizon update manager.. What's that? And please let me know as soon as the stock ROM comes out or any word of it,... or yea... hahaha. im really stuck on it. I really wish things could work out.
You'll find the Verizon Update Manager at the 13th post of the 2nd link I posted here. You'll also need a Dropbox account.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1902170&page=2
Before you do that, however, can you get into recovery mode? Hold down the home button, VOL Up, and the power button to enter into recovery mode.
If you cannot enter recovery mode, please be patient as we try to get a stock ROM uploaded.
You also can help us. Since your phone is rooted, you can make a backup of the stock recovery if it still works. If you're familiar with ADB you should try looking at the last post of my link: you'll see a command there to extract the recovery.

well i can.. i can get into recovery mode. Thats how i tried the factory reset... and it didn't work. I am currently at school... so ill try to do the ADB command this weekend. I was looking at that post earlier. but.. as i said before, but my phone won't fully turn on. It's stuck at the "samsung" logo. that's where it stops. Just curious is the Verizon update manager the same as VZAccess Manager? And the link on the post its the bootstrap helper.exe... that one am i correct?
Verizon has several names for its features but I do belive the VZ Access manager is different. I just pulled up the app and found that it's actually callied "Verizon Upgrade Assistant"...which really means "kiss your custom rooted ROM goodbye" in the future when everything works well.
I have someone trying to upload a stock ROM and I'll get back to you when you can download the ROM. My phone's bricked as well so all I can do is sit, wait, and gather information. I've been without this blasted phone for nearly two weeks so don't feel too bad; you're not alone.
I appreciate the help you can give for the recovery option as if we all can get some stock ROMs extracted, the REAL devs can start having fun with this phone...hopefully we will too.

[Q] [i9505] Galaxy S4 bricked?

Hi there, first, sorry for my english but I'm trying
I have a problem(solved probably many times but it isn't working for me, am I doing something wrong?).
So, from beggining. Few days after update my SGS4 to 5.01 Lollipop original(I've never modified this phone), I've got a problem with physical keys, there were no answer from all of them(include menu and back key). So, to check if it is hardware problem, I've get thru download and recovery mode - working, but in recovery mode I couldn't move thru volume up/down buttons(there was no answer from them).
So, decision, flashing by official firmware. I've downloaded this one( I9505XXUHOB7_I9505XEOHOB3_I9505XXUHOB7_HOME ) and then, fun has gone thru pain in ass. After flashing thru Odin, phone is showing logo for a dunno, 0.5 second and whole screen get's dark. Like it couldn't get to whole booting sequention. The same when I'm trying to get to recovery mode. Even there is no blue sign up in the screen...
Now the question, what I'm done wrong? I've tried with pit file and nothing else happen. Can someone pls tell me what should I do, what should I download and flash?
And sorry to mods for post in general category but I cannot put this(or even ask in relevant question) in proper section...

Just go to sammobile and find the firmware for your phone and flash it with odin in the pda section.

Yeah, I've tried this. After uploading data to the phone, it's restarting, samsungs logo appears for half minute and it seems that he is turning off after that time. Wtf? Of course after turning on, the same story, logo for 0.5 second and this is it...
