Do not disable GP Services, it is worse then. Best solution is to hide notification of GPL in App info.

App Update Notifications disabled but still appearing?

Samsung S3 on 4.3. I've disabled app/game update notifications under the Play -> settings area however I continue to get app/game update notifications. Phone has been restarted a few times and the setting toggled a few times. Maybe I'm being dense here but is there something else I need to to?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah I think that is just the notification when there is an app waiting for you to update, but when you're on wifi it auto updates and notifies you it updated the app. That's my take on it, but I don't know specifically what notification you're getting and never tried to disable that notification

The notifications I'm seeing now are for automatically updated apps while I am on WiFi.

wake screen app on marshmallow

I've updated my nexus 5 to marshmallow 2 days ago, and got a problem.
with lollipop I've used app called "screen notifications"
to wake my screen whenever I get a notification, but on marshmallow it seems to have compatibility problem. though it wakes the screen, the notification has no sound.
I've tried other apps which should do the same, every one of them seem to have the same soundless prob.
any suggestions?
I could really use this wake up feature
Try AcDisplay, it works on 6.0 and has the functionality what you wish for. (Im not able to link from the playstore, do a search, you will find it.)
thanks man, but acdisplay changes the lockscreen and the way notifications seen, so it's not option. someone else?

You can try NILS, but it has a problem with notification sounds.

Update android message

Hello guys, i have Android 5.1.1 and i keep getting the message telling me to update to android 6.0
The thing is that i don't want to update.
Is it any way to prevent this message to keeps appearing?
It's so annoying.
Hope anyone can help me!
Disable the Motorola apps that can be disabled. I think it might be the Motorola notify app. Going off memory because I haven't used stock for a while, but you can disable most of the Moto apps without root.
Simple buddy. Don't disable anything since you are on tock ROM it can break some functionalities.
What you have to do it restart(optional) your phone(its only to get you that update notification) or wait until next pop-up appears as soon as pop-up appears(not so much hurry BTW) press and hold that notification from the notification panel then it's up to you if you have to block the notification or disable the app which causes the notification to pop-up.
Press Thanks if it did helped...

The way that worked for me and a lot of others is by using an app called SD Maid to disable a service on your phone called Motorola Update Services.
Check out this thread over at AC..

That said, I did end up deciding to update to 6.0, and I have zero problems with it.

Anyway to disable location notification?

The getting location notification in the status bar goes on and off constantly and is just annoying. Does anybody know if it can be disabled? I'm unlocked but not rooted yet.
Are you sure this alert is not generated by an app, and not the OS? I would locate such app, and disable or "turn down" its level of notification with System UI Tuner.

Thanks. I've tried going through the apps and turning off location. I'm pretty sure this is from location services and I can't get there without root. I was just hoping it might be something else or somebody had another way.
You can disable icon in system tuner......

Don't believe gps is an option in system tuner.
It's the GPS notifier app that sends the notification which can only be gotten too with root (waiting on stable TWRP). I did find that setting the location mode to battery saver turns it off. But, when you use High Accuracy or GPS it constantly blinks on and off.

So it is an app as I said earlier? I'll install it and see.

It's a system app that can't be downloaded or accessed without root.

I believe you're referring to GPS Notifier 1.0. That was indeed a system app with KitKat -- the one that displays "Location Found" on the notification bar. However, that app was replaced a long time ago. I'm looking at 2 different Pixels here, one rooted and one not. I do not see that app under system apps on neither. I wonder if you installed an old app that has that notifying app embedded.
... I just pulled out my old Droid Turbo from my junk pile, and GPS Notifier is there. The Turbo runs KitKat.

Yes. I came from a Turbo and GPS notifier is what I had to freeze. I'm not rooted yet so I don't know what its called now or if its even a system app. I haven't downloaded anything like that on the Pixel. Do you see anything on the rooted one that can disable the location found notification?
I can't find any such notifying app on either my rooted or unrooted Pixel. And I know this was fixed in Marshmallow.

How to disable the System Update notification?

I'm on latest Nougat and I have an annoying notification that I need to update to Oreo, is there anyway to disable this (Besides blocking notifications to google play services)?
My phone is rooted and I tried to install 'Disable Service', I went to Google Play Services → disabled SystemUpdateService and SystemUpdateGcmTaskService too... but the notification is still there after a reboot.. I was thinking disabling these services will get rid of the notification.
Any ideas guys please?
Thanks,
Updating removes the notification
Use a custom Nougat ROM

Just wondering why you don't want to block play service notifications. I have had that blocked on multiple devices for years now including ones that I have had no intention of ever updating with no adverse effects.
Do you have an app called ConfigUpdater installed? If so, could you disable it? It's juat a hint, i didn't test it as i dont have an update pending.
you should just be able to go into;
settings->system->developer settings->automatic system updates (switch to off)...
you shouldn't need to use disable service app or disable config updater or anything like that.

That does not disable the notification of availability. It just disables it from auto-running the update to the best of my knowledge.

hmmm, maybe you as right, but I don't recall using any of the steps recommended in this thread to disable it ?
maybe the OP should swipe down notifications and hold down on the update notification. click on the gear/settings icon, which should take him to the app notifications for google play services - he should be able to disable it from there i would think...?
i know that's how i've killed other notifications that i'm not interested in seeing (like oreo's notifications about apps running in the background).

That's precisely what the long press does... it blocks play service notifications.
It's probably that goog wants what he wants and no way around it
