Update android message - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, i have Android 5.1.1 and i keep getting the message telling me to update to android 6.0
The thing is that i don't want to update.
Is it any way to prevent this message to keeps appearing?
It's so annoying.
Hope anyone can help me!

Disable the Motorola apps that can be disabled. I think it might be the Motorola notify app. Going off memory because I haven't used stock for a while, but you can disable most of the Moto apps without root.

Simple buddy. Don't disable anything since you are on tock ROM it can break some functionalities.
What you have to do it restart(optional) your phone(its only to get you that update notification) or wait until next pop-up appears as soon as pop-up appears(not so much hurry BTW) press and hold that notification from the notification panel then it's up to you if you have to block the notification or disable the app which causes the notification to pop-up.
Press Thanks if it did helped...

The way that worked for me and a lot of others is by using an app called SD Maid to disable a service on your phone called Motorola Update Services.
Check out this thread over at AC..

That said, I did end up deciding to update to 6.0, and I have zero problems with it.

[Q] SMS-App changed, but Lockscreen only works with stock app??

Hey Guys!
Because I have the problem, that the stock SMS/MMS app turns long sms directly into mms, I changed the app to smsDroid.
Works fine, I used this app on my Defy before.
But now I face the problem, that the lockscreen will show "New message" as long as I open the message in the stock app... If I open it in smsDroid, only the notification in the notification bar will get away...
How do I solve this problem? It's annoying to open two apps for a sms so that the notification will go away
Hope you guys have an Idea!
Regards,
Muhski
Open stock app
goto settings and turn off the notification..
Hey thanks for the reply!
I already did this, but it only works for the notification in the notification bar...
Whe I get a short message and read it with smsDroid, my lockscreen still shows:
1 unread message
Also the stock app will show 1 unread message in the appliaction menue (little orange "1")...
I'm confused
I've got this issue too, is really annoying I've still not found a way to fix this myself without rooting anyone have any ideas?

Did you try freezing or deleting the stock mms.apk?
Open all your message threads in the stock app to get rid of the "1/xx unread messages" notification at lock screen.
Once it's gone, open Titanium backup and freeze the system app named "Lock screen notifications".
I had the same problem and fixed it like this
I had a problem as i receive message and when i unlock the screen the message becomes read already ........and as soons as screen turn on the notification icons disappears showing that ive read that message....
i simply dellll all the dalvick cache and restarted the phone .........it took time to get stable ...but now its super responsive and stable with no glitches...
if youve deleted some bloatwares or system apps it is necessary for you to delete the dalvick cache for stable performance ....
because deleting the system apps wont delete the cache for that particular app.....that will make phone unstable
I'm not rooted and don't plan to be, there must be an easier easy around this that doesn't need root!

Yes. Root the phone, freeze the app... And unroot once you're done.
What's with the allergy to root? At least it allows you to fix these kinds of issues yourself. If you want something which "works out of the box" and wait months until its works are fixed, grab a Samsung Wave, a Lumia or the like.

Don't advise people to get a wave. Bada is really .... well .... bada
Thanks for tipp with freezing the notification!
But this again is annoying, too, because now I have no notification on the lockscreen ^^
But I think is shouldn't expect too much of Sony making their software working with other software...
Maybe I should get a new lockscreen. Will it fix the problem, too?
I'm not against rooting, but I'd prefer not to,I was rooted before but can't be bothered doing it again if I'm honest! Just want to either integrate/replace the messaging app or stop the notifications!

Do not disable GP Services, it is worse then. Best solution is to hide notification of GPL in App info.

How can I Disable OTA? (Which app/process to freeze)

I recently rooted my H950-11z, but I'm unsure of which app to freeze in Titanium Backup so that the OTA updates will be disabled. I've searched the forums and only found "disable OTA" but no mention of how.
Google search came up with some other ideas like the LG secret menu and disabling Google Services Framework but I'd like a definitive answer.
Thanks

No.
Can anybody share how to disable OTA updates after rooting?
I have h955euro version . i have disabled ota.
Try freezing update center 4.40.112
I also froze software update 2.3.3.1
And app updates 4.40.112
If you have the same apps freeze them but you take the risk lol
Just go to settings/apps/ downloaded/google play services and disable notifications. It doesn't prevent the OTA to be downloaded, but you get rid of ota showing up on notification bar.
If you have the OTA notification in your notification drawer(pull down menu) you can simply touch that notification and hold down your finger for a second or two and it will allow you to disable the notifications by clicking the setting button that appears right there. Its the easiest way.
Screenshot attached so you can see what it looks like when you hold down your finger on the OTA notification.

How to disable software update

I wasn't happy with Nougat and decided to go back to Marshmallow, now I am on MM and everytime I turn on wifi the Nougat update starts downloading. Restarting phone didn't help.
There is no option either to stop it.
Isn't there an option in Developer settings?

No, not there either. Is there any way without rooting the device?
Anyone figure this out?! Can't get notification to go away. Ugh. Please help!

The only way I have been able to disable the update is to download the "BK Disabler App" along with "BK Plugin". It will allow you to disable the update as well as take away the notification at the top. The only thing that will show is there will be a Software update dialog box at the top of your settings menu when you go into settings. Otherwise you will never be notified of it again and wont have to worry about it downloading or updating when you set your phone down.
You will need to go to the top right corner of the app and search for "update" and check these 3 items:
com.sec.android.soagent
com.wssyncmldm
com.samsung.android.firmware.tsp

How to disable the System Update notification?

I'm on latest Nougat and I have an annoying notification that I need to update to Oreo, is there anyway to disable this (Besides blocking notifications to google play services)?
My phone is rooted and I tried to install 'Disable Service', I went to Google Play Services → disabled SystemUpdateService and SystemUpdateGcmTaskService too... but the notification is still there after a reboot.. I was thinking disabling these services will get rid of the notification.
Any ideas guys please?
Thanks,
Updating removes the notification
Use a custom Nougat ROM

Just wondering why you don't want to block play service notifications. I have had that blocked on multiple devices for years now including ones that I have had no intention of ever updating with no adverse effects.
Do you have an app called ConfigUpdater installed? If so, could you disable it? It's juat a hint, i didn't test it as i dont have an update pending.
you should just be able to go into;
settings->system->developer settings->automatic system updates (switch to off)...
you shouldn't need to use disable service app or disable config updater or anything like that.

That does not disable the notification of availability. It just disables it from auto-running the update to the best of my knowledge.

hmmm, maybe you as right, but I don't recall using any of the steps recommended in this thread to disable it ?
maybe the OP should swipe down notifications and hold down on the update notification. click on the gear/settings icon, which should take him to the app notifications for google play services - he should be able to disable it from there i would think...?
i know that's how i've killed other notifications that i'm not interested in seeing (like oreo's notifications about apps running in the background).

That's precisely what the long press does... it blocks play service notifications.
It's probably that goog wants what he wants and no way around it
