App Update Notifications disabled but still appearing? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Samsung S3 on 4.3. I've disabled app/game update notifications under the Play -> settings area however I continue to get app/game update notifications. Phone has been restarted a few times and the setting toggled a few times. Maybe I'm being dense here but is there something else I need to to?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah I think that is just the notification when there is an app waiting for you to update, but when you're on wifi it auto updates and notifies you it updated the app. That's my take on it, but I don't know specifically what notification you're getting and never tried to disable that notification

The notifications I'm seeing now are for automatically updated apps while I am on WiFi.

App update notification

Hi guys...
Since I have had this device I have never received a notification that one of my market apps has a new update available. I always have to manually check. I definitely have notification setting to "on" under the market settings.
What type of experience have you guys had??
Thanks
On stock ROM, I didn't get updates either, only notification AFTER I manually checked.

On stock I've noticed that it won't autocheck at some predetermined interval. However, if I open the market to look for something, it will then notify me that there are updates.
Do you have the auto-update box checked on the apps in the market?

FB Notifications Problem

I am having problems with the Facebook notifications. I can not receive any of them. Its the ROM issue, because my wife can receive notifications and her phone is not even rooted. Anyone having the same problem or know how to troubleshoot?

Its not a rom issue...if you've never signed into Facebook on a blackberry, notifications will not work! Sign onto a blackberry and you will start getting them on your android...idk why it works but it does

I just downloaded FB for the hell of it - have you gone into facebook > settings and checked "Notifications' active, then down to 'Notification ringtone' and set a tone? It was defaulted to 'Silent' on my phone.
Yeah all those are good. I just can't get the notifications on the status bar

If u can find someone with Facebook on a blackberry, just log on and then sign off...ur notification will magically start appearing

Would u guys know anything about fonts?

@nativesmiley: Facebook push notifications will work where they show in status bar.
Here is what I did that eventually got it working -
Logged into FB on computer - In 'Account Settings' > 'Mobile Settings' - I activated my phone number.
In FB app on phone - went to Settings > 'Refresh interval' - Set it to 'Never' and Notifications set to 'Active'.
Clicked the three bars in top left corner, scrolled down to the bottom, click 'Account'. Then 'Account settings'. Then 'Security'. Enabled 'Email Login Notifications'.
You should compare these settings to your wife's phone.
I am also on Valhalla Black.

Have you installed the facebook app and logged in?
Check if your wifi/data is turned on, you are not getting any notification if you are not online.
Go to facebook app and press menu->settings, check if notifications is active.
If still not getting notifications. Go to system settings -> accounts & sunc settings. Check if background data and auto-sync is on.
Thanks for help harry but they are both checked.....:-(

The ongoing notification requires root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1770622
Or you can root to the Synergy Rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792499
The notification deletion is imbedded in the Rom. After flashing it, reboot once and it's gone for good

If you're on Verizon, it's impossible to miss. It's in your notification bar when you drag it down each time and reads "Wi-Fi off: turn on Wi-Fi"

Oddly enough, some report that they have neither the ongoing notification nor the annoying pop-up when wifi is off on a fully stock device. The vast majority have it but I've seen a couple saying they don't have either.

PROBLEM SOLVED!! (kinda.)
you can pull down the notification bar and long-press the "Tap to turn wifi on" ongoing notification and then click app info. from this point, the process will come up titled 'Android System'. (this is not what runs your phone, its just titled this) if you force stop this process, the notification will go away until the next time you boot up your phone! -i know its not permanent but it sure beats the hell out of it always being up there!!
THE MAIN BENEFIT OF THIS FOR ME (AND FOR ANY OTHERS WITH 4.1) WHEN YOU GET A MESSAGE OR EMAIL, IF ITS THE TOP NOTIFICATION IN THE LIST, IT SHOWS ADDITIONAL DETAILS. CHECK IT OUT IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

always on display

I'm on TMobile. And I just got an update for the always on display. It now has the option to show notifications on the on the screen. I clicked this on the settings but I'm still not seeing the notifications. Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes tge new update for s7edge has some new features, but unfortunately samsung exceeded the third party notifications, i don't understand why, doesn't make sense..
Try this
Settings - Lock Screen & Security - Other Security Settings - Notification Access
Turn Always On Display to ON, the update didn't turned it on by itself.
