I just bought a Dodge Journey with the UConnect system. I've connected my Nexus 5 via Bluetooth but I can't seem to get Hangouts messaging to sync. I would like to take advantage of my car's ability to read and send text messages. I've read that SMS over Bluetooth is possible, but Hangouts doesn't seem to work. Has anyone else come across this? If so, any solution to this issue?

So google voice updated today allowing users to pre-fetch voicemail so that you can listen without an internet connection, also, they have given way to group messaging, which i thought we already had on our nexus'
I've been able to put multiple recipients into my text messages since day one, so i don't see this changing anything.
Can someone clarify this?

When I was on cwm 10.2.1 (4.3) I was able to see incoming text messages in my car. Since updating to kitkat, even tho I get prompted to allow messaging, It never come thru the car bluetooth. does anyone have any idea why?
Hi Everyone,
I hope someone could point me in the right direction or has experienced this and solved it. I did a search but couldn't find a similar issue.
First, I've experienced this issue on DroidKang, one other ROM which I'm forgetting at the moment, and now SOKP. The Google Voice app is configured to receive messages via the messaging app (Hangouts) and Voice+ is activated (it routes all outgoing SMS/MMS messages using your Google Voice number no matter the messaging app).
- Like the title of the thread, when I switch between WiFi and Data connections, a whole stream of Hangouts SMS messages comes in that I had already received before switching over.
- If I continue that Hangouts SMS conversation for a bit and then switch back, all of those messages from the continued Hangouts SMS conversation will again stream back in.
- I end up having two entries in the Hangouts conversations list, one from the correctly named person, the other from a random number but the SMS text is prefaced by their actual name.
I really like the ability to use Hangouts for SMS but require to use my Google Voice number in order to do so.
I'm not being too hopeful but maybe someone else has experienced this?

I have this issue that is driving me crazy. When I'm in the car (Vauxhall Astra with Intellilink 900 infotainment system) and connected to it by bluetooth, it goes crazy when a text message arrives. It starts to show notifications for historic text messages. It asks me if I want to listen or dismiss the message. If I choose listen, nothing happens except dismissing that message and moving onto another one. I have to dismiss about 30-40 text messages every time! Once I've dismissed all of the messages the system appears normal except it will not report new SMS text messages. This did not happen with my Galaxy S7 Edge.
Anyone else experienced anything similar?
I have similar issues with my Ford Focus where it will constantly alert me to new (old) messages. The November Pixel security update was supposed to have addressed that issue, but I'm still experiencing it. On my phone, I ended up going to Bluetooth Settings, selecting my phone, and turning off the "messages" profile.

I've got the same issue with my Ford EcoSport. I thought it was the crappy Ford Sync, now i know better.
Looks like it's a Pixel issue then. I've tried using different SMS apps on the phone but it makes no difference.
Same issue here with a 2016 Chevy Silverado. I went into the settings in the radio and disabled message notifications to prevent this from happening until the root cause can be resolved.
