Also a story about the phone at Chinese-smartphones.com. Not sure if I would buy this, with its price you should be able to get something better right? Mlais M4 Note?

The M4 isn't much better, it's battery is not not enough to get you through one day. You get better build quality and a better GPU but that's it.

Good news, Bluboo has just announced that they will be using an Amprius battery, the same company that manufactured the THL5000's 5000mAh battery! Check out the original post for more info.

I've got one of these on preorder, having talked to Bluboo on Facebook (they answer very quickly!!!) I've been told I should get it early June, looking forward to testing it out!!

Awesome! The more people that get this phone the better! Battery life has always been the achilles heel of modern phones and hopefully this will solve it once again.

I am considering buying one. Here are some findings:
At Gearbest with code "uspc" you can get it for 138USD, which is quite a bargain.
I have seen a geekbench battery result of almost 16hours! It seems, that this phone can make 14-15 hours Screen on time. (I can not post a link, cause I am a newbie here)
Here comes my concerns:
What glass is used? What if I drop the phone and the glass gets cracked? I can not find any shop with bluboo replacement parts.
What about ROM, is there going to be enough buyers in the dev community, so there will be chance for a stable ROM... and Android M

You can get it even cheaper with coupon code "GBEBLU" at Gearbest. It'll come out to $121.90, so $28 off if you purchase before June 4th. I'm hoping that it'll eventually get root!

I think it might be about the same as the THL5000, as the THL5000 gets 13 hours in Geekbench.

Thanks, great help!

No the Blueboo X550 gets over 16 hours in Geekbench.

It has more or less the same battery as THL5000. In terms of CPU the MTK6735 is the most power efficient CPU from Mediatek so far. The screen has lower resolution than THL. And it comes with Lollipop and ART runtime. If the ROM is not screwed, the screen on time on this phone has to be far more better than THL 5000.
After all it has 3more hours in the geekbench.

That was what I was getting at. I was trying to point out that both the THL and Bluboo have about the same efficiency because the Bluboo X550 has a lower resolution and a much more power efficient processor and 300mAh more but a 0.5" bigger screen, and only gets 3 hours more than THL5000.

there are some rom for example miui? thanks a lot

If your budget is tight and you’re looking for a big screen performance phone, stop searching! TCL’s S720 Android phone is amazingly only US$99! From a smartphone that cheap, you would normally expect a crappy screen resolution and a mediocre processor and specs, however, TCL has managed to give the phone an amazing 720*1280 HD IPS panel and an exceptionally performant octa core Mediatek chip (MTK6592M) clocked at 1.4Ghz.
This amazing phone continues to suprise us with a big 3300mAh battery and amazing build quality. You won’t get a better deal for just US$99.
If there’s anything we reproach to this phone, it would be the 1Gb of RAM which is certainly sufficient for mainstream browsing and video playing but will cause a little problems if you're a heavy multitasker.

Budget 350k what to get?

Hi community. So this is my case after doing well with my LG G4 and preventing from his super dead boot-loop problem, I ended up selling it. So I get $300 to spend in a new phone and for sure without any kind-related death-trap problems like the one in the G4.
So after many research I'm willing to spend 300-350k for a new phone and I come with few options but dunno which one choose, here my options:
-Moto Z Play. Well the recently new Moto Z Play just came out and looks really good it would be better if came with a 650 or 652 SP but well the 625 do the job. But the most I like about this phone is his super awesome battery of 3510mAh which promise a really good autonomy. And the Moto-mods well proly I'll just could use the extra battery one and the JBL speakers not really interested in the rest.
-Lg G5. Recently it drops the price to my range 350-400k so it's a really good option too, no much to say SP 820 with 4GB DDR4 and 2k display it's a beast for a really good price. But dunno if it has many problems like the G4, you know: problems with screen (ghosting) someones says it also has problem with the Wifi dunno if it's true, and it having a really smaller battery just with 2800mAh but also dunno how well the 820 do the job with energy consumption, so it can equal to a 625 with a bigger battery.
-Galaxy A7, well a smaller cpu a SP 615, 3GB RAM and a decent battery and well it's "Samsung" dunno about this.
-Moto G4 Plus. Still a good one to from Lenovo Moto, a slightly better cpu 617 but only 2RAM DDR3 also being 28nm the 617 so it has a worst energy consumption and also many users have been complaining about screen ghosting too over the IPS LCD screen of the G4+, so dunno about it.
So asking to the wisdom of XDA what do you suggest me guys? Also any other option you could come with. Thanks in advance
Also honorable mentions:
ONE PLUS 3. Yeah if only available in my country it will be my dream phone for that price range, it is just PERFECT. But can't get it.
Galaxy A9. 4000mAh for a FHD screen it's just awesome! But also isn't available in my country.

Next great Media pad X2 with BIG screen?

What new big phones has anyone seen that compares to the Huawei Media Pad/Honor X2? I'm only interested in phones that are over 6.3 inches....
PS: Moderator... Please don't move this post to "off Topic"
The Mediapad M3 is a good choice. It already has 6.0, is on betaprogram for 7.0, has stereo and fingerprint and is in the same price range as the x2. It can be rooted, but there is no developer, who customized it to have extended features like AJ did for the X2. He took the Chinese KangVIP version for the x2 and transformed for international usage. But there is no KangVIP addition for the M3, as far as I know.
The other thing is that the m3 has no ear speaker, so all your calls will be heard in room by other people. So the usage of headset is mandatory.
My device: 701->703 B212 KangVIP AJ Xposed
I actually have had the MediaPad M3 8.4 for 6 months now but I am finding it a little big now. If I use it for longer periods my hand gets cramped from holding it.
Also the lack of an ear speaker is sometimes inconvenient.
Before the M3 I had the MediaPad M2 8.0 and before that the MediaPad X2 7.0.
I am now considering getting an X2 again because I can get it quite cheap.
But the best option would probably be the Honor Note 8. It's got a faster CPU than the M3, 4Gb RAM, up to 128GB ROM, 2.5d 6.6" screen and I think it will be noticeably easier to hold than the M3 and the X2 because it is a lot less wide.
And it will probably get Nougat in a few months.
Try searching for Huawei Honor Note 8. It seems good but I'll still wait for some months before replacing my X2.
If you don't set no great store on the camera, get the the mate 8, for it has maximum xda support.
The Note 8 has a better specs, but I haven't cleared the xda support for this. If does not have it's own forum.
It's not available on Amazon in germany.
My device: Mediapad X2 GEM 701->703 B212 KangVIP (AJ mod)
Come on people! What are some super size phones coming out this year?
I got the Honor Note 8 64GB.
For the price you won't find a better phablet.
I got it rooted and Xposed runs as well.
It's fast, the 2k Amoled screen is fabulous and with 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM and a 256GB MicroSD card I can install all my Apps and take all my documents with me..

Love this thread. While I have little to contribute, I'd like to add to your question by adding why can't I get 6.5+ inch screen with 4G bands in the US? I'm willing to pay big and I'm sure so are others...so why are we screwed?

Now THIS phone sounds amazing with a battery same size as the X2 and faster CPU. Is the 6.6 bezelless screen as big as the 7.0 X2? If so, it could be the only thing I would upgrade to!

Yeah!! That Honor Note 9 will be my next one after our beloved x2. I can't wait! I hope the price will be reasonable just like the x2 before.
Now the rumored leaked specs have been updated to a lesser 4600mAh battery from 5000mAh and a lesser Kirin 965 from 970. Very disappointing! I was hoping for a battery capacity at least as big as the X2 and not any smaller. I hope these new rumors are incorrect...
It could be that the new CPU/etc is more efficient, but I'd still rather have the bigger battery just in case!

Aside from the GPS issues, my main frustration with the X2 is NFC and no matter how hard I look for a replacement that is as big or at least as close as possible, they never have NFC! :/
I was looking at the new Note 8 thinking I would sacrifice size if it was at least 6.5" for the NFC and OLED but Samsung is still going with that ridiculous aspect ratio...oh well.

See here about this issue. At least one android 6 rom does fix it!
Couldn't deal with the crappy signal on my X2 any longer and picked up a Posh Volt LTE 640. 6.4 inch screen and a 5800 mamp battery with Octocore processor and 3 gigs of RAM....and best of all, 4G LTE here on T-Mobile in the USA!!!! It kinda looks like a slightly smaller version of the X2. Very hard to find this one but I managed to find a retailer with a used one in like new condition on Amazon for only $170. Until somebody delivers a 7 inch phone with 4G LTE in the USA, this will have to do.
Major downside is only 32 gigs of non-expandable memory. But hey, don't plan to use it too long.

Xiaomi Mi4 worth getting in 2017?

I recently got my Nexus 6P (64GB) stolen and I'm thinking of getting the Mi4 since I'm on a tight budget. I'm also considering getting a Redmi 3S but it's a bit expensive compared to the Mi4 being an older device. I haven't used a custom rom ever since I used a Note 5, iPhone 6 Plus and Nexus 6P and I'm thinking of using a custom rom if I do get the Mi4. So do you guys think the Mi4 is still worth getting in 2017?
What i've heard, also camera in these new cheap ones is not as good as at launch with Sony sensor.
Snapdragon 801 seems plenty fast to me, I'm not trying to play VR games on my phone after all. Maybe some people are?

Can't find other one with Google, too much results. IIRC it was in en.miui.com.
As a mi4 user myself, I do not recommend it this day. This device is very good incase of build quality and battery life but it is outdated. You can at least go for Mi4c ( if I'm not mistaken, the one with sd 808 and 3 gigs of ram ) It will get Nougat too in summer maybe.
still works fine
it all depends on your usage of the phone. If you're looking into playing games then the SD801 might be not enough any more. If you need all LTE bands working, the MI4 wouldn't be the right thing.
cons:
-- gpu performance not up to par with current gpu's
-- different versions of the phone without LTE or only band 1,3
- only qualcomm quick charge 2.0
pro:
++ 5 inch JDI IPS screen is still top (1080p)
++ 13MP rear camera with sony sensor (IMX214 with f 1,8), not many top devices can beat that.
++ 8MP front camera with sony sensor (IMX219 with f 1,8), not many top devices can beat that.
++ build quality is top
+ 3080mAh battery is good enough
for me the best thing is the community support: you still get all sorts of custom roms including the latest nougat updates (check the MI3 forum, they are mostly working for the MI4 too).

Sorry for the super late reply, been busy with my studies. Anyway I got myself a Redmi 4A instead due to unexpected circumstances that killed my budget (lol). I don't really play games on my phone so I guess this would do for now. I'll save up and probably get something better by the end of this year or earlier next year. Though the Redmi 4A battery life is pretty good but I do miss the large screen, stereo speakers, and camera of the 6P *sobs*

Yes, but now it isn't my daily phone... It works as small tablet for my dear wife.
Yes, daily driver since 2015 even with a 2nd cracked aftermarket screen because all aftermarket screens have an extremely thin GLASS digitizer whereas the OEM is a strong PLASTIC one.
Until this day, I have not been able to find a phone that is comparable to the X2 having a 7in screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio and battery size of at least 5000 mAh. Please post if you know of any!

The closest phone to the X2 is the Mate 20 X (it's what I'm using now) It's only 18:9 aspect ratio but has a 5,000mah battery, stereo speakers and a 7.2" AMOLED screen and the best cameras in the game. It's the best device I've ever owned.
Thanks AJ for the quick reply. The Huawei Mate 20X screen width is 0.6" smaller than that of the X2 which is tempting.
I wonder if there is anything else on the horizon...

Until this day, I have not been able to find a phone that is comparable to the X2 having a 7in screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio and battery size of at least 5000 mAh. Please post if you know of any!

Hi again everyone and hope you are doing well. Just reviving this thread to ask what people are using these days that is comparable to our old beloved X2. Looks like the closest device is the Huawei Mate 20 X...

Still using it as daily driver. Found nothing as confortable on screen size, except foldable phones maybe, but so expensive. ..

Thanks for the quick reply DJiban. I was hesitantly thinking about the Huawei Mate 20 X but as I see the bootloader can't be unlocked and it can't be rooted that is a dealbreaker for me...

None of that Wil work on a mate 20 x 5g version.... Too bad.

I've had a bunch of phones since I got the X2. I still have the X2 but due to it not getting any service here in the US and the fact that it has gotten really slow, I keep it in the drawer.
Currently I have a Galaxy S21 Ultra (16GB/512GB) and 2 Poco F3's (8GB/256GB). I'm thinking of selling the S21 Ultra and one of the Poco's and buying a Galaxy Fold 3 and using it as my daily and using the Poco F3 as my backup.
The only we we're going to be able to use a tablet phone is by buying a foldable. The one thing that angers me is that all of these cell phones are almost the same. They are all about the same size, all have the same features, crappy curved screens etc. It would be nice if a manufacturer did something different like release a new phone with a 16:9 aspect ratio or something close to that. I could imagine it would sell if it were the only one on the market but these manufacturers continue to released redundant products then wonder why they don't sell as many.

Thanks DJiBan.
AJ, you feel the exact same way as I did when I posted the message above in 2019 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/do-you-still-have-your-x2.3890739/post-79029346) and even before that. All phones made today are sausage-shaped and narrow. In terms of display, its all about screen width - the maximum screen width that can be found today on a device with relatively normal specs is 3.1" whereas the X2 is 3.7" and this seems to make all the difference. The only exception is foldable devices which are astronomical in price and therefore a no-go. I may have just went with a Huawei Mate 20 X just for now until one day they release a device with a bigger screen-width, but it can't be rooted. The 3 things I'm looking for in a device with newer specs primarily are:
* Screen width of ~3.6" and size of ~7"
* Battery 5000mAh+ preferably Li-Po
* Cellular bands that provide me with adequate signal. Here in Canada Bands #4,7,12 are a must but preferably 2,4,5,7,12,13,17,29 (https://www.signalbooster.com/pages/what-are-4g-lte-frequencies-bands-of-telus-rogers-bell)
Everything else such as battery saving techniques can be adjusted via software.
NEWS UPDATE: A few months ago in Feb 2021, someone has apparently managed to unlock the Bootloader of many Huawei devices so there may be hope for the Huawei Mate 20 X w/ Kirin 980 to be unlocked sometime in the future:
Dozens of Huawei and Honor devices with Kirin processors can now be bootloader unlocked
Using this open-source tool, you can now unlock the bootloader of several HiSilicon Kirin-powered Huawei and Honor devices. Check it out!

My friend has a rooted Mate 20 X that we rooted back when root was open. He may want to sell it. I'll talk to him. He hasn't used it much in the last year.

He said he would list it for $450. It's in mint condition and it's bootloader unlocked. You'll also get a few cases as I still have a few that I kept. The width of the Mate 20 X is 85.40mm.

Hello, I still have my mediapad x2 since 2015 and I use it everydays. I have got just one problem. My build is KANGVIP SLIM B230 (GEM-703L) but impossible to activate WLAN button in green color in the settings. Can you help me?
Maybe I will buy the mate 20x 5g but I prefer the extra large screen of my x2
