Guys i have performed a backup using TWRP, and i would like to ask something. Is it same with system restore on windows when restoring the backup? I mean back to the system like at certain time.
Thanks for your answer, and sorry for my bad grammar

that's the point of the backup... just wipe things before installing the backup.
yea its not a bad a idea to do the backup protect u from a bad flash and as he said thats why the option there 8)
To better answer your question: restoring from a backup restores EVERYTHING to that EXACT state your phone was when you initially did your backup.
So it's not bad, and actually very good . I have 5 different ROM backups on my sd card.
Rom Factory
You can also use Rom Factory and create your own rom. This will not create a total backup of your phone, just the required folders for the operating system.
Hi.
I want to know if i need to wipe things in CWM before restoring a backup previously made ? Or I can directly restore a backup ?!
Thanks !
When you restore a backup is for a few reasons. When an upgrade has not gone well, a bad root has not gone well for you. Have lost major stuff. So no need for a wipe the restore wipe and set back.
Okay thanks, Because i just tried ICS and HTC Sense 4 on my Desire, but i want to recover all my files. So i backuped. That's why i ask this question.
Did u restore!?

you dont need to wipe things in order to restore form CWM. It will restore your previous version of rom including your files.
once i get gootloop and recover from (resotored only data )old backup... then i still had bootloop and when restore (data) i still had bootloop... please someone tell me why it happened? i thought backup can recover everything... should i restore all ? system cache data ? :crying:
What is ur current rom, is it same base like ur backup one?? If u backup stock, and u want to restore it on aosp base rom, u need to restore all or u'll get bootloop.

I restored only data using cwm recovery advanced restore on MIUI ROM 4.1.X.( android version 4.2.2)
After restoring everything was Force closing....
The data was of AOSP Rom 4.2.1.
Any solution?

Hi Bro, I've switched to various ROM's of different bases (4.2 or 4.1) numerous times and will tell you how to restore your data.
Take a Nandroid backup. After installing your new ROM, Restore your apps, games from Titanium Backup using 'Extract from Nandroid Backup' Option. I'm using this method and there are no FC's whatsoever.
Just make sure you don't restore any system app or data because it will most probably create a soft brick or bootloop issue.
