Will this guide work for my Nexus S? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061855
Sorry newbie here, just want to be really really sure as I followed a poor guide somewhere and got stuck up with the google logo and lock on boot, hence was forced to install cyanogen.

Okay..so to close my question. I just followed this and everything went back to stock.
theunlockr.com/2011/01/20/how-to-unroot-the-nexus-s
1. followed the link above.
2. I remain rooted but recovery went back to stock. no more clockwork.
3. after booting, was alerted of a 2.3.4 update..so I updated again.
4. marketplace has been upgraded to the new interface (probably bec of the update)
5. to install screenshot app and fontchanger..I needed to have super user, so I just installed Clockwork (recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.4-) again and installed SU (su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip) via SD card install.
6. so far, everything's good.
If you have some questions, feel free to ask.

Is there a way to return to stock while keeping CWM ?
You can stay on stock rom while you are rooted. You can google it. I got my 2.3.4 from ardoid.com
Its a stock rom with added arabic support. Since you dont need arabic. It wont make any difference to you.

I'm not asking for keeping root, only to revert back to stock while keeping CWM
Clockworkmod will stay on your phone. As far as i know, all your phone recoveries will be done through cwm

I read somewhere that flashing a stock ROM will restore the stock boot/recovery. Is it true ?
That i cant answer u. But i can say that i went back and forth between roms. Reverting to stock when needed. CWM stayed on my phone.

1) If I understand correctly you got S-off
2) then root
3) Then used Rom manager to perform a backup.
4) then you flashed LBC ROm
you know want to return to step 3) ?
You can either use ROM manager to restore the device to your previous backup or you could boot into recovery (CWM) and again use the restore option to restore your backup that you took earlier.

Yes it will.
Although, may I ask what you were not liking about the rooting experience and the LBC ROM?

what do you mean by update normally, android market or ota updates?
I'd personally avoid ota updates after getting soff and root.
And again can I ask what it was about the custom experience, that you didn't like?

I don't think there should be any problem doing an OTA update if you're on stock with root but you may loose root.
Well I bought this phone 2 monts ago and the it was in firmware version v10g_00 which is te latest till now.. so I have no expirience in updating, pluging in to comp and update it an so on...
so sorry if I looked so newbie
Anyway, yes it is about the ota update... where you choose the update notification and then update it via computer
and my question is can a backuped phone updates again like ... lets say updating it to gingerbread (that's what I'm facing)
Sorry for the interruption

[Q] No rom backup

Hi Noob looking for guidance,
Phone -O3d p920 updated via LG mobile support tool to GB 2.3.5 v21e all good.
Rooted phone using Manbearpigs guide. all good, phone is rooted OK.
Tried BACKING up Rom using rom manager, Phone went on and off twice and rebooted me a clean install of GB, no apps no data, no contacts etc. I used Titanium to back up data after setting up this fresh install. Used rom manager to BACKUP rom, and it did the same thing again wiped out all personal data and user apps etc, and had RESTORED my phone to initial 2.3.5 setup. What am I doing wrong. I just want a copy of my original 2.3.5 rom so I can then try a 1 click solution to upgrading to ICS when the 3D camera issues get sorted or when LG releases a official upgrade.
Thanks to any who can help or point me in the right direction.
AW: [Q] No rom backup

Don't use Rom Manager. It's got many mistakes.

Cannot get root installed after update.

Hi,
I am having trouble getting root to install on my note since the latest update, I can install high on android recovery ok but when to flash supersu.zip it does this successfully and once in the app draw thier is no supersu app or binaries installed.
I do not want to flash the german rom etc to get root bdcause I do not want to lose all the data and app data. and for some reason I cannot use titanium backup etheir.
Is there away without losing my data?

You can't use Titanium Backup because you aren't rooted properly.
Try backing up your apps and their data using Carbon, this doesn't require root, then do a factory reset.
Hi,
I've sorted root out by not using the cwm zip that is provided on this forum and just installed supersu from play store.
I never used carbon, I'll give it go next time.
