So last night I had a strange thing happen, it seems to have added a +1 to my incoming text messages and starts a new thread...then when I try to reply it says number is invalid, so I have to search for contact and reply that way.... Very annoying, is there a setting for getting rid of the +1 or should I reistall

It's a problem with AT&T. Happens every now and then.
Usually corrects itself

Hey!
Anyone know of an app or widget that keeps track of how many SMS you have sent and how many minutes you've been talking (outgoing calls only) within a month?
I had one before I wiped the phone, but I can't remember the name.
Also, I've tried one that's called Free Widget but it didn't work as expected. It only counts how many sent messages you have stored on you phone, once you delete a message the counter drops down.
Cheers!
I know that Handscent SMS has a messages sent counter that you have to reset manually (or timed im not sure if they updated that yet)
Thanks, but I prefer the built-in SMS application =)
I appreciate your reply though.
I found one, Call Meter NG.
It's really good!
Yes call meter ng is good. My only complain is that I cannot see last month's usage to check my bill...

I've been having problems with my texts getting to other people out of order. Some of this is caused by the poor reception I have at work, but I group messages come only as individual messages from each recipient/responder. The strings are all out of order and I can't seem to reply to all the people on the list. Anyone else have this problem?
i was loosing messages pretty consistantly, i have crappy reception at work and the stock messaging app would get stuck. i use handcent now and turned on the delivery reports, so now i have a verification when they recieve a message i send... it might help you trying out handcent or go-sms...

I used handcent once before and wasn't nuts about it. How about group convos? The stock app has never seemed to work the way other people's phones work with group messages. There is no indication that its a message that's been sent to multiple recipients unless I look at the message details. And then there is no way to reply to everyone at once short of starting my own sms and entering all the recipients? Am I right about this or am I moronically missing something?
i never bothered trying to figure out the group thing, i get scared i will send incredibly inappropriate stuff to the wrong people, lol

I got pretty excited when I saw the Messages app and read that it would sync texts to tablets, so I figured I'd give it a try. After 5 tries, it hasn't worked yet. Each time, it says "AT&T Messages setup not complete." I tap "retry," I get a text that says "This is an automated message, please ignore. (some random gibberish)," and then a red text notification that says the setup is not complete.
Is this app even worth trying to make work? I used to use Mighty Text and that would send my texts to my HP Touchpad -- sometimes.
You're better off with mighty text I used that when I had a Nexus 7. Very cool to text from the tablet. Not sure why you had issues though. My only problem was I couldn't recieve or send mms or see emojis when txting with people with iphones.

My one m8 is not rooted or modded in any way and I am having texting troubles. It doesn't matter what app I am in, sms texts take about two minutes to send and I sometimes receive duplicate texts from whoever I am texting. I have 4g with three bars and I dont know what the problem is. I can temporarily fix it by restarting my phone but after a couple minutes it goes back to normal. I have tried using hangouts, the htc default messaging app and verizon message and they all have the same problem.

Not sure whether this is the same thing, but my recipients are complaining about getting two of every text message from me. It doesn't matter whether I let Hangouts take over SMS or not. I've disabled the Verizon messaging app; I'm thinking of deleting it altogether. Wondering whether this is an artefact of the Sprint messaging app that is flashed with the extreme powersaver mode zip file.
First off sorry for bringing up this old thread but didnt see the sense in starting a new one.
Just wanted to add that recipients of my texts seem to pretty frequently receive duplicates. For awhile I was using Handcent but completely removed that and am using the stock messaging app with the same results in both. I have not flashed to extreme power saving mode referenced above as a possible culprit.
So with that said just curious if anyone else is experiencing this or has any possible solutions? I hate calling verizon but I may give them a call this week on it if I dont get any responses here and see what they say.
Bump. I came here to post a thread on the exact same problem. My texts almost never go through. I've googled it extensively but can't find a solution.

I know this is an old thread and I hate bumping something so old.. but as no one had posted a fix in here (and I'm sick of seeing failed to send messages in my sms app) I know of one workaround that has worked for me. In the default (messages) app, if you go into settings for sms and mms and change priority to High sms and mms work much better. I no longer see failed to send messages and they send in a few seconds rather than 30-60. The only problem is, within that same app, you see a red exclamation point next to every message you send. It's an eye sore but it's the only fix I've seen. I've had this issue on every sms app I've tried and just about every rom including stock. Hope this helps someone...
Edit: I tried finding that exclamation to just delete it from the message.apk but it's pulling it from somewhere else it seems. If anyone happens to know off hand please let me know. I'm going to keep looking for that icon to remove it. I wish this want an issue. It's these little things that drive me crazy.
Edit 2: I found it in the htc framework. com.htc.resources.apk for anyone interested. I'm removing that icon from my phone now... Hopefully it all works smoothly.
Ever since I got the 44 update I have not been able to send or receive MMS. The app will force close I've tried them all. SMS pro, textra, default MMS, hangouts they all crash.
"Unfortunately, Messaging has crashed"
Is usually the error is get. Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Do you know how to get a logcat?
If you could upload that we'll kniw what's going on.
I wasn't sure how to use it. So here's some snap of the error when you hit report.
Let me know if this helps. Hope it does...
