Stupid AT&T Messages app - Galaxy S 4 Active Themes and Apps

I got pretty excited when I saw the Messages app and read that it would sync texts to tablets, so I figured I'd give it a try. After 5 tries, it hasn't worked yet. Each time, it says "AT&T Messages setup not complete." I tap "retry," I get a text that says "This is an automated message, please ignore. (some random gibberish)," and then a red text notification that says the setup is not complete.
Is this app even worth trying to make work? I used to use Mighty Text and that would send my texts to my HP Touchpad -- sometimes.

You're better off with mighty text I used that when I had a Nexus 7. Very cool to text from the tablet. Not sure why you had issues though. My only problem was I couldn't recieve or send mms or see emojis when txting with people with iphones.

[Q] [NS4G] Getting weird texts from Sprint via 9016

I have received two very unusual texts that don't seem to make much sense to me.
//ANDROID:${from} has sent you a Sprint Voice Message. Call ${callbackno} to listen. CFGs1840.105f53c3ffe2cafd3961pAZFdYeN//CM

Not entirely sure what this one is referring to. I don't use Sprint Voice mail because I use Google Voice. So my voice mail messages should be on that instead. I've never even bothered to set up the Sprint voice mail as I never have any intention of using it.

Not entirely sure what this one means. Googling it showed that it meant a text was successfully sent and for some reason my phone didn't filter out the message. I didn't send a text when I received this one though.
Both of these were sent from the phone number 9016. Looking it up this seems to be a Sprint number of some sort. I asked some other Sprint Android users if they got anything similar, and they had not. So is anyone else with a Nexus S 4G getting weird texts like this?
Sounds like sprint spam. That's weird that your phone is displaying code. I'd just ignore it.
I just received this today also. Messages exactly same as the OP and on the same phone and carrier ...
Not sure what it is all about either .. any detailed answers?
the message is how sprint handles visual voice mail. did you happen to have a phone before that had visual voice mail and never reset your voice mail settings when you got your nexus?
Joeykrim, big fan.
Try going to messaging app and do the following: send a text to 9999 and as the message type: Block 9016. You will get a text confirming blockage of that #

Had an Evo for 29 days, but I'm brand new to Sprint beyond that. I never set up any voicemail beyond Google Voice though.
Haven't had another instance of these texts yet though, so I'm just assuming a glitch on Sprint's side.

multiple 9016 text messages.
I think i have found a fix for this annoying problem.
Ive found that it happens when u install some other text message app to handle your text messages instead of the stock messaging system.
I believe the 9016 messages are suppose to be hidden or silent messages and not actually get displayed, but when you set another program to handle all the messages, it doesnt know its not suppose to display it.
*So the FIX that i found that works is to,
tell the new text message program to Not Disable other message notifications. Meaning, remove the check mark associated with that option.

[Q] SMS notifications on top, but message does not appear in conversation

Hey there, I hope you're doing great!
I'm creating this thread because I was wondering if the issue I am about to describe is a known bug or if it only happens with me.
The problem I am experiencing is sporadic, as I cannot determinate a specific cause for it; it sometimes happen right after reboot, and sometimes after long usage, after a call, simple idling, etc.
Of course the issue is that when I receive an SMS message from a contact, I see it pop-up at the top as a notification, but when I want to see it in the threaded conversation, it is simply not there. I can continue texting, and they continue receiving my messages properly, as do I... only by looking at the top status bar though, because other than that, the threaded conversation remains the same during the whole exchange.
My phone is not rooted, it is a brand new LG-P999 from Videotron (They call it the LG Optimus 2X here!) and it runs Froyo 2.2.2!
Thank you very much for your help, and of course, excuse me if this issue has already been looked into! Otherwise, have an awesome day!
Is it possible you are using a third-party text app? I ask because I mainly use Google Voice for my texts, but every now and then someone will text my phone number, which of course means it goes to the phone's message app. As you mentioned, you get the notification and can respond just fine. However, if I don't pay attention, and go to my Voice messages, their messages will not appear, and I have to switch to the built-in message app to see their conversations.

Thanks for your reply, but I am actually using the stock SMS app!
Hmph, started looking into the "Messages" app settings and found something called "Text messages on SIM card" and found all the messages I was "missing".
What causes this?! =O
*EDIT*
I looked on the Internet a bit but found nothing pertaining to the LG-P999/G2X. I, however, found information on the matter saying that this is usually caused by reaching the maximum capacity of SMS messages in your phone. I have about 120 messages all in all, which is certainly a very small number! I also have about 4.50GB of free space on my phone!
Thanks for the help!
This is a known issue from LG... Call the tech support and open a ticket.
Voicemail notif is causing this issue... default storage is change to simcard by the OS...

Thanks a lot, it is definitely a relief to know that this is a known bug. Do you know how we can change the default storage of the voice mail, or I need to root?
Thanks!
I just wanted to add that I successfully found a permanent workaround to this problem by installing GoSMS Pro! No more "disappearing" text messages

Odd text message...

I'm using cm9 alpha 4 on my epic 4g touch. I also use gosms for texting. The text i get is sent to gosms and messaging, so it doesn't seem to be a weird glitch with gosms.
As far as i can tell nothing in my phone happens when i get the texts, they seem to be random. So far i have gotten 3 and all have nothing for sender. No name or number. It just says " says:" where it would usually be "john doe says:" or "(123) 123-1234 says:"
As for what the text says?
It's this:
BMy*ÓÍ2óèƒ~d4eA~ݹycÓ‡b»ñiÙ•™ytAOÏ>™v®ASFžh4óA¿vÏ(0*é—ŸEÀ
ۂ2
For my font i get a lot of boxes but in google it all just seems to be special characters.
Also searching for a similar issue its usually a blank text with an oddly long number or just a strange number. Can't find anyone with a similar problem.
Any ideas? It doesn't really hinder or annoy me since it's been about 3 texts in a month, but after the second and third, all with the same "message" i find it so odd.

I've had similar texts when from a friend when she was on MIUI, but I haven't had other experiences like that on any of the different roms I've tried.
I'm getting it too, I use ics. Ive been getting it for almost a year, and on my old phone. No clue what it is though.

Remove go SMS and see if it still happens. I am betting it won't as I used to get them to when I used it. Seemed that it was a message from the go servers that all the texts go through first when you use go sms

Message of unknown origin.

Hey. I received this message on my phone. Does anyone know how this could have been sent as it does not appear to be a regular sms as u can see and plus, the message is of a political nature, thing that I do not want to be a part of. I think it's from my mobile carrier and I am going to make a big scene if that's the case. Any ideas if anyone other than the cell carrier can send this type of notification?

L.E.: ok, so i did some digging around and i found this:
A Flash SMS message is a text message that you can send to an individual that stands out from the rest. Whereas a normal text message would be routed to the recipient's text message inbox, a Flash SMS will display on the screen of the recipient's mobile device. This is a great feature for when you have a text message that you want someone to read immediately.
Seems that anyone can send this type of notification using an app available on play store..
not good
As soon as I see that picture, yeah, no doubt it's just a popup notification because it says "Phone" on the window, which probably from 2 things. One from apps notification, and one from flash sms. Most of it, flash indeed.
I don't like that!

These are Operator PUSH notifications.
Can be disabled from Settings->Call->Cell Broadcast
Uncheck the "Cell Broadcast", or you can change the channels.
Generally Channel 50 is used for Location info (that used to get displayed under operator logo in older phones).
But you can disable them as we have more advanced system for getting the location (via GPS + Cell Info). :victory:
But it can also be show by some malicious apps installed.

Google NOW texting verification

When I say "send text to _someone_ will be there in 5 minutes" in Google NOW, it usually correctly types everything in. However there is no voice verification. In other words, it doesn't say the text before asking me if I want to send it. This is important when using hands free.
Is there a switch that I am missing? This makes it useless when using hands free since there's no way to verify the text in the text message that I want to send.
I would expect an audible confirmation of the text before sending it.
